P: Program error when saving, lag when zooming, changes not reflecting in document window (macOS)

Since the 22.1 update, MAJOR bugs:

- ‘could not save because of a program error’ when saving, work around: hiding a few layers or folders.

- major lag when zooming in

- actions and changes delay in showing, to the point where they never show up - once I close the document and quit Photoshop and go back in the changes are  visible.

what’s going on??

This situation is a nightmare for those that depend on Photoshop to earn a living, and we're still paying Adobe for a product that is unusable.

As subscribers to a software service we are protected by legislation - and we're not getting what we're paying for.

I ask again Adobe - how about refunding our subscription payments whilst these issues are resolved?

SAME! This version is just a nightmare. Have lost too many hours of work, and it's just frustrating when you realize you are paying for it. The only solution is to go back to the previous version, which is quite a shame.

@JeffreyTranberry I have the same problem, can't save, can't export. Unfortunately, I can't go back to the old version because I don't have the option in Creative cloud app, maybe it's because this is my first installed version for my account. What can I do? Please help

This did work but I can't save the document again after turning all the layers back on.

I'm getting this issue as well. This will sound ridiculous, but turn on the visibility of the bottom (background layer) if it is off. Now select it and turn off visibility of ALL other layers. Then try saving.

Hi, I keep getting the message.  'Cannot save because of a program error'.

If I back track & delete the progress from my last successful save, the file will save again but I can't do anything else.

I've tried to export, save as another file type, & save on an external device. Nothing works. Has anyone else found a solution to this problem?

*ajones620  Sorry about the issue you are facing, we are working to fix the same and hence need some help from your end.

Could you please share the following:

1. Preferences and Settings from you machine, they are placed at

"~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop 2021 Settings/" and

"Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop 2021" .

2. Also share the System Info from Help>SystemInfo>Copy and paste it in a file or in here.

Thanks! Any additional detail will be helpful ..

Any layer that has a gradient whether it be on a separate layer or merged on another one is causing major issues. The entire working file glitches when i zoom in or out of the working window. it also won't let me save the document if the gradient layer is turned on. See the top photo - its a radial gradient but appears chopped off. also the text copy 5 layer is ON but the text doesn't even show up.

I have had an Error message in saving process on Photoshop 2021 and could not complete the SAVE.

MMM....After digging around I noticed that all the 5 layer folders that I had juplicated were in the Pass Through Blending mode. I changed them all back to NORMAL blending mode, and voila, I could save the PSD project with no error warnings. I do not know if this is the only reason or instance that the Save does not work, but I think that the BUG lies in the Layer composition, order, blending modes etc...
