Premiere Pro 2025 Crashing And Frozing System (ASUS Zephyrus G16 GU605CP)

Hi everyone, I’m experiencing a serious stability issue with Premiere Pro 25.3 on the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 GU605CP (running Windows 11, BIOS .302) I just bought. The issue begins whenever I try to resize any panel in the workspace. Right after that, the entire system becomes extremely laggy and unresponsive, followed by a temporary black screen, as if the GPU drivers are resetting. If somehow I manage to close Premiere its process remains active in the background and cannot be terminated via Task Manager unless I force a restart.

Before the issue appears, I’ve also noticed that switching between workspaces (e.g., Editing to Color) causes the interface to refresh quite slowly. Panels load in a staggered way, flickering or appearing one after the other, as if the system is struggling to render them in real time.

I’ve already run Cinebench and FurMark stress tests without any thermal throttling or major performance issues, and I’m using the laptop in Performance mode through Armoury Crate. I also tried forcing the use of the dedicated NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 via the Nvidia Control Panel instead of the integrated Intel Arc 140T, but the issue persists.

I'm not sure whether this is a bug in Premiere’s GPU management, a conflict with ASUS software like Armoury Crate, or something related to drivers or GPU scheduling. Has anyone experienced anything similar or found a workaround? I’d really appreciate any suggestions or fixes.

Thanks in advance.

@jamieclarke  Thanks again for the support.

Here are my full system specs:

OS: Windows 11 Home 24H2, Build 26100.4770

Experience Pack: Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.197.0

CPU: Intel Core Ultra 9 285H (2.90 GHz)

RAM: 32 GB LPDDR5X-SDRAM

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 – Driver version: GeForce Game Ready Driver v577.00

iGPU: Intel Arc 140T – Driver version: Intel Graphics Driver v32.0.101.6554

I’d also like to point out that I’ve already used Premiere Pro 25 on a different PC, both with Studio and Game Ready drivers, and never encountered this kind of issue before. This makes me think it may be related to this specific hardware configuration.

I really hope you’ll be able to help me solve this issue. Thanks in advance!

Hi @andreap12260824 - Can you let us know your computer specs.  I think you have an Intel Core Ultra 9 285H.  If that is the case here is a link where you can update to the currently latest iGPU driver version  32.0.101.6972.

Adobe recommends using the "Studio" driver version when working in Premiere Pro.

When the crash dialog box opens, please select the checkbox "Adobe may contact me" and then enter your email address. We can then look it up in our system and help diagnose what is happening.

Hi @jamieclarke
I tried disabling both GPUs to test how Premiere behaves in each case. Here’s what I found:

When disabling the Intel Arc 140T:

  • Premiere no longer crashes or causes a black screen, which is a good sign.

  • However, the interface still lags and the panels load in a staggered way. This lag affects the entire system, even after closing Premiere, which suggests the issue might be related to disabling the Arc GPU.

  • When resizing the video preview panel, the video stretches instantly and then takes about 2 seconds to re-scale proportionally.

  • I also noticed some visual artifacts in the video preview:

When disabling the RTX 5070:

  • On the first try, Premiere crashed while previewing the sequence:

  • On the second attempt, importing clips caused the system to freeze completely, forcing a hard reset.

More System details:

  • OS: Windows 11 Home 24H2, Build 26100.4770, Experience Pack "Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.197.0"

  • RTX 5070 driver: GeForce Game Ready Driver v577.00

  • Arc 140T driver: Intel Graphics Driver v32.0.101.6554

  • Test clips: The default stock videos bundled with Premiere Pro 25

Let me know if you'd like me to run any other tests. I really need suggestions to stabilize Premiere on this machine.

Hi @andreap12260824 -  Thanks for submitting your bug report. We need a few more details to try to help with the issue.
Please see, How to Report a Problem.

The easiest way to identify which GPU is causing the issue is to go to Device Manager > Display Adapters and temporarily disable either the integrated GPU (iGPU) or discrete GPU (dGPU) one at a time. This can help isolate the problem.

Sorry for the frustration.
