Captivate

Hi guys,I am in the process of a testing a scalable Captivate 2019 project for school. The project consists of many objects and advanced actions per slide. I have published this Captivate zip file into a SCORM module using Moodle. I have tested the project on various devices including PC, Mac, iPad, and an old laptop. I have also tested it on various browsers. My personal testing has had no issues with loading or performing advanced actions.  However, upon letting other students attempt the module, they have had various issues. For example, some noted that certain slides would only display some objects, leaving a relatively blank screen. They have also noted that some advanced actions did not work correctly. Finally, they had sometimes had issues with audio cutting out early (although I know this is a known issue). There feedback has been inconsistent, where each user is experiencing different issues. We're currently using Adobe 2019We need to develop training for an application that runs on Tomcat running on an apache server and uses Java servlets.  The captivate out put needs to have a .war extension.   Is this possible? If so, how would we go about it?  Thank you,Carl Stephenson   

We are having issues with our Captivate 2019 projecs when we want to view them on mobile devices. Then when we flip the mobile device and flip it back the screen will not readjust the screen. Are there settings in captivate to ensure that the projects work in a mobile devices?

I have 2 questions which are both related to timing. I think I should be able to sort both of these by editing the timeline but I can't work out how: If the learner clicks in the wrong place, the simulation doesn't give them time to then click on the correct place, instead it just moves on to the next slide. Is it possible to have it wait until the learner clicks the correct box boefore moving on?When the learner clicks on the correct place, the Success message shows fine but then there is a big wait before the simulation moves to the next slide. Is it possible to reduce this time?

I have created a Captivate file that has several videos timed across several slides (only one video per slide). I have followed Lilibiri's advice and run the videos through Media Encoder before inserting into the Captivate project. I've also put a first slide in with no video. Extremely annoyingly the published video file cuts off the very end of each video in the published file. It means you can't understand the last couple of seconds of what the person is saying so has to be sorted for me to be able to deliver the project.Does anyone have any ideas why it's doing this and what I can do to fix it? The idea is the videos flow from one to the other so I don't want to create a pause in between each one. The whole project needs to be no more than 15 minutes long and at present it is 14 mins 59 secs so I only have 1 sec to play with!Thanks very much

Has anyone else experienced software glitches when trying to record (approx. 10 min.) video demos? I have a gaming laptop but I'm starting to think it's not sufficient because I am constantly running into scenarios where the audio will cut out half way through the video or the video won't publish properly. It just seems like the only scenario to prevent myself from re-doing lectures (excruciating) is to purchase Camtasia. It would be nice to use Captivate Video Demo because I'm making responsive projects or if Adobe could make a Screencast software that is competitive with products like Camtasia.

Hi - my first post! Hopefully I'm clear in my question... Can I have two forced navigations (using the multistate slide feature in 2019, i.e., with NO Advanced Actions) within one course?  My first forced navigation works perfectly. My second doesn't. I noticed when creating my "next" button on the second instance that Captivate wouldn't allow the duplicate name "content_completed" - so I had to name it "content_completed_2". Is that my issue? If so, what is the best practice? Thanks! Mark 

I am unable to open a Captivate file. I keep getting an error message that gives me 4 possible reasons, none of which are correct  Any suggestions?

Hi,I want to create a project with images that have info hotspots. Just clickable hotspots that show you a text box with more info about the topic. Preferably there would be an option to hide the text box by clicking the same info button. What's the easiest way to achieve this?

Hi!I'm new using captivate, I did a simple project earlier, but now I'm working on something a little more complex.For this project, 3 paths are available to the learners. They can only choose one of these.These 3 paths are made up of 4 information slides and 4 question slides that alternate that way: Info, Quest, Info, Quest, Info, Quest, Info, Quest. What that means, is that there are 12 different information slides. But what about the question slides? Do I have to make 12 too? Or can I make only 4 of them, and tell them to go, upon success, on a specific slide depending on what the previous slide was? (something like, if previous slide was number 1, upon success go to number 3 or if previous slide was number 9, upon success go to number 11 or if previous slide was number 17, upon success go to number 19) 

Hi,is there a way to set a HTML5 project only in landscape views - desktop, tablet landscape, mobile landscape? We are going to add a snippet to inform users to change their device to landscape view, because of 16:9 ratio videos. So for this I´d like to get rid of the standard portrait breakpoints and set only landscape. I´ve thought of setting the portrait sizes to match a landscape dimension, but I´m not sure if the device detection might get in trouble with this 😉Any idea how to get "landscape only"?I´m using Captivate 9.

I am trying is use as numbered list with i, ii, iii, etc... when I push enter to create a space between i bullet and ii bullet I get the middle picture, but I want a blank space, so when I remove the bullet from the middle space, I get both bullets to be i.   Is there a way to create the picture on the right with ii on the second bullet?  I have version 11.5.5.676.      

I have trimmd an mp4 in Quicktime to cut the beginning of the video. Saved the file as an mp4 and inserted into Captivate as Slide video on the first slide. I have sorted the video timing so it is spread over 7 slides and when previewing as HTML it works fine. When I publish it the section I've trimmed in Quicktime is suddenly there at the beginning of the video while the audio for the video starts at the trimmed point as it should, meaning the video and audio is out of sync and the whole thing a complete mess!Does anyone have any suggestions?I have played the mp4 video in Quicktime and the piece I trimmed at the beginning is definitely not there so I don't understand how it can be reappearing?I'm using Captivate 2019 on Mac OS 10.13.Thanks!

Adobe owns Illustrator. Adobe owns Captivate. Why can't Captivate bring in a native Illustrator file? Seems crazy to be forced to export to SVG from Illustrator before bringing a graphic into Captivate. Native .ai file support should be a no-brainer! You already have SVG round-tripping to Illustrator built in. Why not provide native .ai support as well?

Hi, I am clear on the fact that you need to go to Edit > Preferences > General Settings to  make sure the publish default locations is NOT the same as the Project Cache. But, I am now having to delete items due to low disk space. When I go into the Adobe Captivate Cached Projects, how do you determine what project each cached folder represents? I looked at the modified dates, but they are not matching my file dates. Thanks!

I had saved a project and then Captivate did the while not resonding thing.  The next day I got this error:  It wasn't open already, it wasn't sent in an e-mail, It was only worked o using my laptop.  I have tried this with nothing else open. Any help appreciated, thanks

Hi,I'm running Adobe Captivate 8.0.1.242 on Mac OS 10.10.4.I'm starting to become extremely frustrated, as for a while I was able to publish my content to Adobe Connect without any issues. Now all of a sudden, none of my content will publish without the error: "Failed to publish your project to the Adobe Connect Server. Verify your network connection and then retry."My internet connection is fine. I'm also using ethernet. Also, it will consume a LOT of time in attempting to publish. I'll watch the loading screen for a good 15 minutes, and the progress bar will go through multiple cycles of advancing from beginning to end, only to result in the error indicated above after 15-20 minutes. This is particularly frustrating - if it can't publish, why does it take 15-20 minutes for Captivate to tell me it can't publish?Steps I've tried: 1) Deleting the server information in Captivate and re-adding it. 2) Deleting the server information in Captivate, saving the project and closing Captivate, t

Hi I am currently editing some old Captivate training files which were screen-capture simulations-type training.I have to add new slides of screen recording into an old project, where the screen have changed in some places.This used to work - I would click 'Record a New>Software Simulation' and then record the new slides which would be created in a new project on another tab. Then I would go into that project tab, copy the new slides and bring them into my old project.Now when I do this I get a mostly blank slide, with a few strange oblongs of background, and the interactions haven't copied across. In general I find with Captivate, it saves some of the information about the slide to a completely inaccessible place - it's not a background, it's not an image, so you can't find it in the Libary, it's just some random oblongs which it has decided to save somewhere in between everything and it will decide whether or not it wants to show them.Could someone recommend a tip for ju

Hi all;  My colleauge and I previously made a project for work (simulation) which is to quiz but also teach in case of failure and users need to take another attempt. It worked perfectly as it is supposed to. I made another last week with the exact same settings and I'm almost positive it that *worked* before I saved it away and now doesn't work. The project refuses to pause, and I can't figure out why. I'm hoping someone here can help.  The slide has the screen shot, instructions (top right) a click box (top left)(with no displayed captions as I removed them), an arrow (top left), a text box with feedback (bottom) and an image used as a button to continue (check mark lower right) once the user has read the instruction:  On enter, there's an executed advanced action (hide_All), which hides the arrow, the correction box and the green check mark button. The user has a single attempt to click the box correctly and on success the project goes to the next slide

Hi all ,I'm currently using the Captivate 2019 subscription, I need help with the following issue.Before the Google chrome 88 update (released on February 17/2021), xAPI contents with video slides created recently in Captivate 2019 (using fluid boxes and published as HTML5 zip file into an LMS) could be viewed in Android devices in full screen (i.e browser address bar is not visible ) in landscape mode , using the "desktop site" option of Google Chrome app .After the Chrome 88 update, I'm no longer able to get a full screen experience for the same content ,since the address bar of the browser stays there itself . In addition to this ,there is an additional bottom tab that is being introduced in the update which takes up even more space from the bottom of the screen .As a result of this update ,the mobile device user experience for my Captivate responsive projects is completely ruined. As of today ,I am getting full screen experience for Captivate 2019 based content even on older C

I'm using the free trial of Captivate before decide to get it, but I cannot see the work area; every time I click on the work area (Slides) everything disappear. What I'm doing wrong?

Hi everyone, I have a 70+ slide course that has quite a bit of video. I am publishing as scaleable HTML5. I see there is a preloader option, but can this apply to html5? I want to preload media assets before the user gets too far along in the course. Is this possible? Or is this an option for swfs only? Thanks in advance for your help, I am using Captivate2019.  

HelloI have problem while exporting adobe captivate file into scorm 1.2 and 2004. During the process it crashes. Do you know mayby the solution while it is crashes? Thank you for reply.
