Captivate

Hi Group!!  i have been a Creative Cloud subscriber for a number of years and would REALLY like to get the Captivate software but hate to add another $34 to my monthly tab for Adobe products, as great as they might be. Does anyone know if there is a discount for Creative Cloud subscribers? Thanks!

We are using Captivate 2019 and have the following problem: If you copy a slide that contains an extended action, the names of the individual elements of the slide are changed; for example, “Button1” becomes “Button1_35”. However, the extended actions are not changed. We need the same extended action when copying the slide, but of course with the elements of the copied slide. It takes a lot of effort to copy the extended action yourself and to give it the new name of the elements of the copied slide. We need a copy of the slide in which the advanced actions are adapted to the new names of the elements of the copied slide. Is there any Option we do not know? Who knows a simple and quick solution for our problem?

Is there a way to have captions show when viewing a multistate slide parts?I can apply captions to the main audio, but when you click into the state view there is no option to apply it to audio there.

I've created a Smart Shape (InfoBox1 is the object name) that is set to hidden when the slide loads, by way of the slide's properties (Properties, On Enter, Hide, InfoBox1). It works fine, except that in Chrome and Edge (not in Firefox), if you click on the slide where the InfoBox1 shape is, even though it's hidden, the outline of the box is visible. I'd call this a focus indicator, except that, while hidden, the InfoBox1 object is not in the focus order (i.e., you can't tab to it). Is there a setting that will not show this box if it's clicked? I'm aware that going to preferences and selecting "Hide selection rectangle for slide items in HTML" works, but it also hides the focus indicator for other items, which isn't great for accessibility, so we can't use that. I'm hoping for a setting to make it not show the rectangle when clicked.

I'm using Captivate 8 and I have a number of hidden objects on a slide that are grouped (they are shown through an advanced action). Even though they are hidden I can still click on them and a blue selection bar appears around the edges. Has anyone else had this problem before?

Hello,I have a project set at 1920X1080, but when I go to Vimeo the video comes in at 640 X 390. I can't find a place to bring it in at the original 1920.Any insight is greatly welcome.Kind regards,Liz 

Hi,I've just installed Captivate for the first time and I'm attempting my first project.I'm trying to insert an Intro slide and all I see if this message ""Getting assets from asset store"I've tried other slides and projects. I've shutdown my firewall and AV scanner. Left it for > 1 hour. I have 100MB internet and plenty of HDD space. PC performs well editing 4k video so I don't think it's a performance issue. Any advice?

Hello,I'm new to Captivate and I'm trying to figure out the Advanced Actions. I think it's something really simple, but I can't figure it out or find any tutorials similar enough to follow.I have 7 buttons and when 1 button is selected, an object appears. I want that first object to "hide" when the second button is selected. How can I make all this happen? Thanks!

Hi eLearning Community! I need some help posting a sample project for an eLearning Instructional Design class I am taking. I have had success publishing a sample project in Adobe Captivate 2019, zipping the files, and then uploading the media here to the Adobe community for my professor and peers to review (with a project URL). However, recently I’ve been getting an error message when I try to upload a captivate file “Invalid file contents.Upload failed.” I’m not sure why this is happening since I have had success doing the same in the past. The file size is small (3.5 MB) and I made sure to zip the files when publishing in the authoring tool. Since this is for an instructional design course, there is no LMS to submit the sample project to and I don’t know how else to share my progress with my class.  Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hi I am trying to set up a learning programme in captivate, but I cannot see all courses that I published. Thus, I cannot include all courses that I want. I checked some common things, they are all manager approved. But there is also no pattern, since one course that is manager approved, I can add. Can anyone help? Thanks

Hi All,I have a slide in captivate 4 that contains several boxes that display in the same location as the last when an 'ok' button is clicked (I use the timeline to fade in/out relevant captions). The client has asked that when you get to the final one, that a restart button shows that will reload the current slide, so you could read it again, should you have the (bizarre!) urge to.Im sure the answer is glaring in the face but can find a relevant action for the button. Could somebody help please!!Thanks in advanceChris Maile

Hi, I am new to captivate. I created a slide where the user will click to reveal additional information. To do this, I created a multi-state object. My issue is I'm trying to have the user exit the additional infomration and to reveal the main slide. I tried creating a button within the State view but i could not set an action. I'm guessing its because I can set multiple actions on a state view. I've looked up how to set varibales, set advanced actions (this seems a bit more complex than what i need to occur) but at this point I'm not really sure what to do or how. I hope this makes sense, I added some images below. I may be overthinking this and there may be an easier method. Can anyone assist? Thank you

Hello,  I have an issue while publising HTML. Captivate freezes when 'Enable reporting for this project' is checked.When it's unchecked, it is published but the zip file doesn't have all contents that are supposed to be in the folder. Does anyone have a similar issue?  Thanks in advance.

I know how to create closed captions, and I know how to change their position for the individual slide/ for the project. I want to be able to give the learner the option at the beginning of project to choose if they would like closed captions on or off. Could anyone please step me through if this is achievable? 

I have a couple of issues with captivate program on my macOS Mojave (10.14.6):1. My client wants something simple with mobile responsive - Just read each slides, watch videos, and tick the box after they have read the policies before go on next slide etc. When I published, open the file and pop up says "An error has occurred: Error - unable to acquire LMS API. content may not play properly and results may not be recorded. Please contact technical support."2. When I test the slides, YouTube appear working just fine but when I publish the LMS and youtube didn't appear.I hope anyone can help me with these issues.   

Hello,I did a silly recording in Captivate where I recorded a teams meeting screen share with both my microphone and computer audio enabled because I needed a second person on the mic and couldn't think of an easier way to do it remotely. I created a separate track and edited it to sound great, but when I save the file back to Captivate and publish, I have a terrible echo. If I go back to the audition audio file, it sounds great. I'm not sure if it's a captivate or audition question, but hoping someone has an idea for a fix :  Using Audition CC 2015.2Captivate 8Thank you,justin

After setting the zoom level to Best Fit using the Keyboard shortcut Ctrl+0, I can no longer zoom in and out using the shortcuts Ctrl +/Ctrl - Furthermore, the Zoom In and Zoom Out options in the Zoom menu are disabled. When I go to the Magnification submenu, more interestingness appears. Even thought Best Fit is checked. The zoom level of 600% is also checked. I have to select 100% and then I can zoom in and out. So basically, if I zoom to best fit. I have to zoom to 100% before I can zoom in/out. Is that normal for other people? Is it a bug? It doesn't work the way I would expect it to.  

Greetings All,  With the decommissioning of Flash, we are looking to update our (sometime old) SCORM files on the LMS to SWF. We've found out that our files were published in both formats and they all contain the Multiscreen file.  Will these keep on working once Flash is gone? And if not is there a solution to force it to launch in the HTML version only? This is important to us as we don't have the old .cptx files anymore to republish only to HTML.  Any thoughts on the subject would be most welcome!  Warm regards!

I'm working on a project and more and more frequently my timeline counter disappears. I'm not able to move the curser and edit. I have to save, close Captivate, and re-open. Even at this point, it only reappears sometimes.I've had this problem in the past but its happening more and more and causing production to slow!Please help, what can I do? Hi all, I am trying to work out a solution to record student audio from a slide as part of a language class (students record themselves saying sentences in the other language directly from the slide) So far, I have been attempting to use implemetations of the following javascript libraries and tutorials:- https://github.com/mattdiamond/Recorderjs - https://github.com/bryanjenningz/record-audio I keep running into issues whenever I attempt to insert my code either inside of a button as an advanced action or inside of index.html and then reference the function on a button. The idea would be to get recorded audio from the student, allow playback and/or re-recording, and finally send off the recording to a SQL server. Does this project seem possible given the restraints of Adobe Captivate; does anyone have any ideas? 

Hi all,I have a license for Captivate 8. My hard drive crashed and has now been replaced.No matter how I try, I can't get it reinstalled even though I have a valid license number.I've tried Adobe chat and got nowhere.  If I purchased a product, even if now legacy, shouldn't a company have links to re-install under extreme conditions of a hard drive failure?  Captivate, as with other Adobe products isn't cheap.  And if v8 is working for me, I'm not interested in upgrading.  What gives?I appreciate any insights about how to download and register my software — and/or how to work with Adobe to get this done.  Many thanks.  — Linda

I have created a Software Simulation in Captivate, to which I would like to add a swf animation created in Adobe Animate. When I import the swf file into the Captivate project I can see the animtion play in the timeline, however when I preview the project in a web broswer or publish to a packaged HTML zip file, the slide that the swf was added to is blank. Can someone please confirm that I cannot add swf files to Software Simualtions or if there is a workaround/step I am missing. Thanks

Hi everyone! Hope, you have more Captivate experience than I do and will kindly assist me. My issue is as follows: one of the courses I `ve recently created is to be viewed on one particular LMS and not anywhere else. First my plan was to do it via Adv. Actions (if\else conditions) when entering the 1st slide  however I failed to find any LMS-related system variables to base the action on it.Do I got it right that the only option for me now is JavaScript? If someone gives an example how such script would look like, that would be jus great.(Details: the script should check where a Scorm is launched - if it`s not url X, the project pop-up window is closed. Any help is appreciated)Sorry, if I missed similar topics.
