Captivate

Hello, all.  I have a text entry box that requires users to enter a correct answer.  I have Infinite attempts selected, but am only able to enter an answer once.  How do I get the TEB to reset and accept additional attempts?I have Enter set as the shortcut key, and I have validate user input TURNED OFF, as it will then only allow correct answers to be submitted.Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!Adam

Hi all, I am on a deadline and unable to finish my projects because whenever I open (either the project or captivate directly) it seems to open and seconds later completely closes. I am using a MAC and have done many of the items to make sure the program works. 1- uninstalled Captivate and Re-Installed2- Installed Un-installed and re-installed Flash. 3- Open Captivate Directly4- Open File directly5- Shifted file from cloud directly to computer, tried to open from there.Any help you can give would be immense. I really need to get this finished. Thanks!

Hey there,I am experiencing an issue with the "play audio" action in advanced actions. Using version 9.0.1.320.I am finding that when I use this action, conditional or standard, tied to a shape button or click box it does not work when previewing HTML5 at all. I have tried it with and without autoplay selected. I am also finding that it is inconsistently working when published in HTML as well. Other co-workers have helped me in testing with the same results. It was discovered after I completed a course last week and my mgr was reviewing it. I had several activities with feedback and she was not getting the audio for the feedback at all, but I could hear the feedback when I tested it. Then we heard about the Chrome update and realized that may have something to do with it. I updated Chrome and cleared my cache and now I am also seeing the same results with no audio. Anyone else experiencing this?

I'm trying to make a map with clickable areas that play sounds.(For example—you click the city and hear traffic/honking horns... you click the coast and hear ocean waves.)I tried this as scalable HTML and it works but it bugs out on smart phones when you double tap.It seems the phone resizes the browser on double tap and the clickable areas can't keep up... it gets wonky.The sounds play inconsistently and the page keeps resizing while you're trying to click.Is it possible to make clickable areas on an image in true responsive design?I haven't been able to figure out how to keep my clickable areas attached to the right spots on my map background while the window scales.Thanks for considering!

Hi Everyone,Hope you can give me a hand. I am an instructional designer and our corporation has started migrating our 255,000 employees over to Windows 10. I have been running tests on our curriculum documents and everything has been going well except for files created in Adobe Captivate 8.Currently we are running on Windows 7 Enterprise with IEX 11.00.9600. Captivate files are created and then published to desktop as SWF file. The file is then converted with Adobe Acrobat into a PDF Shockwave file (the system used to house the documents works better with PDF format), then uploaded to our policy manager server. The employee simply clicks a link to the file, it opens in IEX, and all works well.In Windows 10 testing, I have found that all files created in the way outlined above, will not open in IEX with all things being the same aside for the OS. An error displays on the page as "To view the flash technology content in this PDF file, please install the required version of flash player."

Dear forum members,I had a number of courses I made in 2014 using Captivate 8, only in HTML5, non-responsive. They worked fine in an LMS. I'm now wanting to launch them using a basic website (no scorm/quizzes, etc., just free access on a website). I tweaked some of the wording, and uploaded them to a private test site. Working...but the TOCs were not quite right.Adobe update suggested I update ("fixes for my version"), so I did. Then I did the TOC fixes, and republished the material. Now they don't work: specifically the TOC doesn't fully render (the bookmark remains a ?) and the text and images added to the slides does not render; it takes up to two minutes to get the white space to show up after the "loading" circle or squares spin, and spin. See images below. Image 1 is paused at T=0. Image 2 is during live playback and Image 3 is paused at T=13ish.I need to put the shield around the middle circle at T=23 but the middle circle goes through a zoom before then so at T=23 it's larger (and on other slides in different locations even).Currently I just try to use guides and adjust it through trial and error but it would be nice to know if this is normal.Is there a way to pause the preview and edit the slide with all the elements in place? Is it normal that they snap back to their original positions when paused in the editor?Thanks!

Hey guys,i wanna upload a quiz on my private homepage and synchronize the results of them via LMS. Is it possible to upload the quiz (which i made by adobe captivate)on a LMS-Page and the users can do the quiz on my homepage?Currently, i would include a link from my page to the LMS-Page, but it would be way more consistent if they can do the quiz directly on the private page.Best regards,Chris

Hi!I have a project that is only be viewed on desktop and the file is loaded onto the machine. There are about 100 slides separated into about 10 sections. On the first view, videos will glitch and stutter at the beginning. On second view, they are fine. I'm guessing this is a loading issue. A couple of questions. Can I assume that once the entire presentation has been viewed on a machine, it will work properly on subsequent views, unless perhaps cache is dumped? Can I tell Captivate to preload the videos to help prevent the stutter on first video? If I have a preload, should I also dump the videos after viewing? Does it seem logical to preload all videos pertaining to each section during the section intro slide (and possibly dump the previous section videos)? Section intros are single stagnant slides with nothing going on, so it seems like a good place to put a preloader. Thanks for help!

Hello,I have a video and audio in my Captivate project. The video was added using multi-slide synchronized video option to enable closed captioning but the video only occupies one slide (slide 3).I also have audio on slide 5, 6 and so on.When I preview the project or preview from slide 1, the video and audio on subsequent slides play correctly.However, when I preview from slide 3 or from slide 5, the video and audio will not play.I already clear my cache and rename the preferences folder. These don't help resolve the issue.I am concerned that when the actual project is published and people go back to where they were left off, the audio won't play.The audio mute button is not pressed, the audio is on.Could you please help? Does anyone have knowledge of which embed codes work best for videos? We use third party video hosting and our multimedia specialist has 4 different kind of embed codes to choose from: inline, lightbox, responsive or iframe. We have been using iframe up until now, but i'm curious if one of these other options is better.

Apologies, as this may get a little long, but I am going to try to provide all the critical information to help the community provide a solution.Problem in a nutshell: As per the title, I am trying to figure out what exactly triggers a checkbox for a section of content in the Captivate 2017 ToC.  This is because we have an issue with all the chapters being checked off after being viewed, but the course is not being recognized as having a 'Complete' status on the client's LMS.  The Goal: We would like the user to be required to view all the slides before being allowed to take the exam (a separate file), which requires the course to be marked as Complete per the Completion Criteria..  The export details are below in the Background section.  Worth Noting: If we do everything the same, except we switch the export option to 'User Access' rather than 'Slide Views and/or Quiz', the course is being recognized as having a 'Complete' status on the client's LMS and the exam

Hi there,I have a movie on one of my slides.I would like to have the next button hidden until the movie stops playing.I can do that by extending the length of the slide to match the length of the video and and just putting the next button at the end of the slide.However, I would like to control that with advanced actions.Any ideas?Thanks in advanceB

I am Using Adobe Captivate 2017My PC screen resolution is set at 1920 x 1080.  When I recorded my captivate session I used the resolution 1920 x 1040.  Problem is when I publish, or view the file I am unable to see all the screen, and have to scroll to see the navigation bar at the bottom, which is where I set it, but also as it is a software simulation, you can't see either the bottom or the top of the windows if you have scrolled up or down. Is there a quick and easy fix to this for the files I have already recorded.  Also how to I remedy this for in the future please.  I haven't had this problem before on early versions at other sites where I have worked.  Thanks for your help

I'm working on a project that was created in Captivate 9. Our university upgraded to Captivate 2017, so that is what I'm editing the project in. There were hyperlinks added to the project previously. I want to add a couple more, and update one or two that are already in the project. However, when I go to the "character" accordion, the option to add a hyperlink is missing. (See bottom of the image below.) I have checked the forums as best I can and I don't see anything on this. I'm a novice on Captivate, still learning, but I checked the help and my instruction guide, and the option to create a hyperlink should be there but it isn't. When I hover over the link, it does not give me the URL, either in preview or edit mode, but I can actually click on it to go to the URL location. However, I can't add one or change any of the hyperlinks that are there. What am I missing?Thanks for any help. ANY help is very, very much appreciated!!!!  Because of the structure of the LMS we use, I need to create a course (SCORM) that I can upload to the LMS as an embedded file.  What I would like to do is make the first screen a menu of the different subsections (modules?) of the course that will open in a new pop up window when the menu button is selected. For example, this is the user experience I am trying to create:I would have a course called Owners and the sections within the course would be 1. Search for an Owner 2. Create an Owner 3. Edit an Owner 4. Assessment. When the users selects the course from the list in the LMS, it will open in a page where it is embedded.  Only the menu/TOC would appear. The user would select the first menu item, 1. Search for an Owner.  This would open in a new (popup) window.  Once this section was completed, they would have a choice to go back to the main menu, which would close the window they are in and take them back to the

I have a Captivate 8 published file that is 16.9 MB. When the slide gets to a certain point the button starts working very slowly before it goes to the next slide. Sometimes it stops working all together.It's published as a swf and html 5. Might this be a loading issuse with the swf?

I have created several questions pools that will be used in multiple captivate files.  This is what I have:Let's say I import the 5 different question pools into 5 different Captivate courses.  3 of the QP will be the exact same in all 5 courses, but 2 of the QP will be different.Everything is great, no problems.  Problem:Now I need to make edits to 4 of the questions that are in the 3 QP used in all 5 courses.Help:Is there a way to only make the edit once or will I have to make the edits to all 4 questions in all 5 Captivate courses (20 times the work)?Is there a better way to set up this type of QP course that I'm not thinking about?

Hi there,I have a software simulation. Pretty simple thing with a few slides. It is quite big as a screen size - it is not responsive project and the size is 1157 x 817.I have another project in which at a certain point I would like to include a short intro of this software. The thing is that the intro in the second project should be about 800 px wide ...I exported the first project as swf and added it to the second but it would not play in HTML 5 output...I consider also exporting the first project as a video (that would be ok). However, how can I change the size of the exported video? I do not see that option in the Publishing settings...Thanks in advance for the adviceB

I'm not sure if "inheriting" is the correct term, but I'll try to explain it.I'm designing starting from the Desktop view. Everything looks sharp and nice. When I switch to, for example, the iPhone 6 view, any modifications I make in that view are also applied in the Desktop view. The styles of layouts of each view seem to be inheriting upward, if that makes sense.Am I misunderstanding the point of Fluid Boxes, or am I doing something wrong?

Hi All,I am having an issue after publishing a course in Captivate 2017.  I have several buttons utilizing advanced actions to trigger image and audio changes.  When I preview the course or publish the course and view on my computer, the course works as designed.  When I upload the course to the LMS, the audio triggered by the buttons does not play but the image changes do function correctly.  Any ideas on what could be causing the audio to not work?I have published in both SWF and HTML5 and both publishing methods work the same on the LMS.Thanks in advance!

I have a few slides with multiple click boxes where the learner is instructed to click a box to learn more. Each click box has an advanced action to open a group which contains a smart shape and a text caption, hide any unwanted objects on the screen at the moment and apply an effect to the entrance of the group.The advanced actions work as expected. However, if the learner leaves this slide, and finds his/her way back to the same slide, the last clicked group is displayed by default. We need the slide to display as if it was the first time landing in the slide. How can I have the slide refresh upon revisiting as if it was the first time entering (no groups appearing)?Thanks,Dan

Registered for the 30 day trial for CAPTIVATE. While installing, it is asking for a Serial Number, only I cant find any!!! Not in the Welcome to Adobe email, Not in the Manage Accounts section, nowhere. HELP!!!

Is there a way to have the video on a slide the a project play from the library where its been imported to and not from a folder on the computer?  We've imported the video to the library and when it is dragged to the slide the Event Video window opens.  The event video window shows a path to the computer folder and not the project library.  After you've set it up it then goes and republishes the video instead of using the published one added to the project.Thanks in advance for any help.Susan

I'm working with Powerpoint 2016 and Captivate 2017 on a Mac.When I import a powerpoint presentation (pptx), I don't get the option to checkmark high fidelity.  The option doesn't even show up on the screen.Please help.Thank you!
