Captivate

Hi, I have a page where audio is playing, and then an image and a button display half way through. The button triggers an Advanced Action that displays another image, the Forward button, and also triggers audio to play. However, I can't seem to get my main audio to stop playing once the learner triggers the second piece of audio. I had tried adding "Stop Triggered Audio" to my advanced action, but that didn't stop my main audio. Any ideas? Thanks, Kristen

I have a copy of Captivate 8 for Mac purchased and registered to my Adobe account. I can download the software and install the software on a High Sierra Mac computer no problem, but both at the end of the installatioon process, or on first launch after installation, it prompts me to sign in with my adobe ID, which seems to be accepted, but afterward prompts me to activate the product with my serial number, but that screen behaves as if it's not connected to the internet and tells me it can't connect with a retry prompt that never works. I have read some help articles that mention offline activation for some CS5/5.5/6 apps, and Captivate 8 was certainly made in this era and does install some things like CS6 media encoder, is this possible somehow? The link for 'unable to activate online' on the unable to connect error message sends me to an adobe page that does not exist anymore and gives a 404 error.  

My Cp12 won't even upload a 5-second video which I made in 16:9 format to test things out. It is 7.2 MB MPEG-4.  When I click Add Video--> System, my videos are "greyed out" and unavailable for upload. Any idea what the problem could be?

I'm using adobe captivate 12.0.0.2892 for free. I faced two problems:1. I preview my pages content on browser except page that has timeline widget2. Adobe automatically generate .cpt, but I want to use scrom file I do not see where to generate it

Can I use captivate classic for developing content for future projects, since the updated version has been launched? I want to know how long the Captivate classic will be continued further. Is it a good idea to use Captivate classic?

Hi all, I cannot open any of the Captivate files I created in the older version after the update. Did anyone face the same issue? Any support is much appreciated.  

I have a situation that requires clever solutions / work-arounds. I create training for a company, internal access only. The HR department doesn't want a Quiz to verify that knowledge has been aquired.  "no testing" is our current standard. So we developed training videos that our audience can jump around using TOC. They learned to fast-forward through the videos. Then I created a trainnig course in which they couldn't fast forward. Our audience has learned that playing the trainnig material from beginning to end - and ignoring it completely - has been a way to get around the training requirements.  As you can imagine, we are not achieving our goals.  I was able to get permission to use Knowledge Slides; without options for users to 'fail' anything. So now I can force interaction on the training material, but I can't force someone to re-do a slide if they answer wrong, etc.  Once they answer the knowledge slide, the presentation continues. &

Good day all,As we are aware that text animation was removed in captivate classic as it was a flash(swf). and recently there was fixed (c/o paul wilson tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j343-qDQDGU&t=1s) by recording a demo simulation and type the text you need then it will be captured as typing text, when you right click you can convert it as text animation. I've managed to do this with 11.8.1.219. but when I updated with the latest 11.8.2, I cannot do it anymore. I'm using this animation when a learner fails to ype the correct one in text entry. Has anyone found a solution to this? or maybe tried on the all new captivate? but thinking you cannot use a file from all new to classic. Thank you all.

I am a new user, so you will either have to forgive me or celebrate me here with this idea 🙂 PPTX and 16:9 was made at a time when people were consuming things on desktop screens. IMO, this shape is out-dated, because SO MANY folks consume their media on tablets or phone, which do much better with a square format. Even in giving Zoom workshops, I now use square slides because it is more efficient for screen real estate. If Cp would create a square project, it would solve all of this madness about responsiveness across devices--we'd create one project, it would be square, and it would work well on all devices. I mean, think of all the glitches that are being caused by things rendering differently in the different device-viewing modes... and all the money and grief Adobe is spending trying to make responsivesness across layouts work, and all the limitations it puts on the creators, and on the learners... What do others think? Hi! I've opened the all-new Captivate for the first time yesterday and I've been trying out a few things. Something I've noticed is that the vertical padding from a paragraph box can't go above 100 pixels when you type it in manually into the visual properties window. Is there any reason to that? Thanks in advance.

I have a responsive Captivate 2017 project and on one slide I have an event video. I'd like for the project to remain on the slide with the video until the video is done playing, then automatically move to the next slide. I always make custom nav buttons for my projects, so the slide has a 'next' button and a 'previous' button on it, that pause the slide after 3 secs (the extent of the slide timeline).I also have the video hidden on entering the slide, with a custom play button with an action to show the video. The video is set to autoplay and the timing is set to duration of the video. Hi Everyone! Windows 11, i7Software downloaded to a M.2 drive so fast readout.3 x montior setup.  (2 x 4k and 1x 1080p) I am having lots of issues using the new Captivate 2023. Although the Classic version works perfectly fine, the new version keeps having issues like freezing and error messages.  When I try to add a Widget or Media box i get the message "Something went wrong" popup.   I can however add text or interactive componenents.  Another issue i have found, is that the software hates different monitors using diffferent resolutions.  I have to unlpug the 1080p monitor while using the 4k ones. Even so, with just the 1 or 2 4k monitors on, i still get these messages.   Any thoughts or ideas please? Anybody else getting these problems?  Paul

Hello,I am having an issue with the software simulation. I used to be able to record a software simulation in automatic mode, and Captivate would create a slide for every click or typing I would make. Now, anytime I do record, Captivate only creates slides when I type. If I select manual mode, it records when I tell it to capture the screen. Is there a setting that I need to check to get the recording the way I use to have it?Thank you!

Hi everyone! I hope you don’t mind so many posts from a brand-new person here. In a way, I’m an “ideal test user” for Cp 12, because I am new to course-authoring software. Ergo, I don’t have the expectations and experiences of those of you who are already fluent in Cp 2019, and I am learning Cp12 from scratch, as we all are. At first (meaning, two weeks ago when I first started playing with it!) of course I would blame myself for everything turning out wonky - "I have built several Wordpress sites, why am I having so much trouble here?" But I have been learning that indeed there are many bugs, and this makes me feel much less like I don’t know what the heck I am doing! 🙂 This makes me feel both better (about myself) and worse (about the product getting in the way of my new career) at the same time. I love playing with the new Captivate. It would be great to have an option in the TOC window to create different TOCs per roles/training so when a user selects their role or training required the correct TOC appears guiding them to complete required parts, view optional ones. All this without requiring a lot of code and variables on my part 🙂    

Good evening, all; I'm hoping to get a bit of support with a tester I've been trying out. In a project I'm working on, I wanted to create a sort of non-quiz KC type activity that keeps a score on the screen. I created a separate single-slide project from scratch just to test to see if I could do it and was kind of pleased when it worked...in principle that is: the user selects the correct answer, clicks submit, sees positive feedback and the score goes up by 10 points or the user selects the wrong answer, clicks submit, sees negative feedback the score decreases by 10. The 'submit' action is limited to one attempt (see image below): The first problem is that I can choose the wrong answer and just keep clicking Submit over and over (even though it's set to one attempt...?) and the score continues to decrease.The second problem is that I can then just click the correct answer (even though it's set to one attempt...?) and then just keep clicking Submit over and over again and th

Hello, Cp12 Community! Has anyone experimneted yet with the HotSpot Widget? I cannot quite figure out what it is meant to do - it seems as though you choose the number of "HotSpots" to place on an image, and then when a user clicks or hovers on a HotSpot (which in the default setting looks like a littel bulls-eye target), something should happen. But as I am designing the slide, I find two problems and I wonder if they are bugs or if I am doing something incorrectly? 1) I can change the hotspot from a bulls-eye target shape into some generic icon from the Assets, but when I try to import anything from my computer to use as a HotSpot shape, nothing is available to me. How do we know what type of file we are able to use so that we can customize the HotSpot shapes? Or do you think this is a bug? 2) I would think there needs to be an interaction that we define, for when the user hovers or clicks on the Hotspot buttons--but when I select the button in order to work with it, t

I have a question about using All New Captivate, and I am sorry if this is a basic questions, but this software doesn't come with any instructions or manual--we are just expected to figure it out (which, when you think of it, is kinda tough!). I want to make sure that each quiz, and interaction is completed before the learner can advance to the next slide. So I think it is 2 questions: 1) How can I mark a quiz as mandatory before the learner can proceed (Is "graded" mandatory, and "knowledge check" not mandatory?), and2) Can I mark other interactions, such as carousel, drag and drog, or click-to-reveal, as mandatory before the learner can advance to the next slide? If so, I am somehow not seeing it. Thank you! -Lisa

Can't seem to figure out why the answers (after answer "B") are misaligned from the first two options. I've even remade the slide from scratch and it still continues to be an issue. How do I fix this alignment issue?  

Hello all:I have a simple table I need to add to a Captivate screen. I know that the current widget doesn't support things like cell merging, etc., but I'd like to put a line break into a cell that contains address/contact information.  I've tried all the usual key commands, but they still just take me to the next cell in the column.Is this possible in the table widget?-M

I have a problem redimensioning my Captivate projects onto several different platforms as Mobiles or Tablets. It runs smoothly on PC though.Everytime is played on one Iphone, Ipad, Tablet, or any Mobile whatsoever, it doesn't show the whole frame and page. We have to scroll up or down as it is never adjusted to these. It's not a standard size because it must be on stagger so it automatically adapts these.I can't find it.Thank you in advance.

Some things seem heinke on the Mac still, like using command + a to select all seesm to work in some things but not in others.  Also when saving project, it allows me to use the modal, but after saving, at the top of the project window it still says "untitled1*"  I'm sure I'll find other things as we go along, it mostly works. just wish we had a few more options for making projects. (Those have been added to the 'wish list' page as listed in the software.) 

It appears that you can't put items where you want them to be. I'm trying to move a button but the only thing I can do it move it horizontally or position it vertically by adding other content. And what happened to the shapes that you could insert? Ugggg.
