Hi there.I have a puppet which has 5 "head turn" positions for both the head and the body. The head uses the actual Head Turner behavior, but I have the body set to use key triggers. Each body position (Frontal, Quarters, and Profiles) has its own arms, which are draggable. My question is, is there a way or approach to make it to where the positions I drag the arms to are retained as the body switches between views? E.g. if she's in Frontal and I raise her arm in a wave, and then want her to turn to Quarter Right, I want her arm to stay in that position (relative to the new view).I realize this isn't straightforward because each view has its own set of arms, as I mentioned, so the Quarter Right version of the arm wouldn't directly know that the Frontal version of the same arm is raised. How do you guys address this challenge? Or do you just record many separate takes and match up each draggable element through each body turn one at a time? That seems tedious, and likely that the end resu
When I add my puppet to a new scene, the Behavior settings always start with the program default settings. Is there a way to copy all my settings from a previous scene? Wondering if other users just copy old scenes featuring the puppet and then delete out the recordings, rather than creating new scenes and having to reset all the Behavior settings. Or is there an easy way to save your puppet's settings to use in new scenes?
Hi, I'm just wondering if there's a way to drag more than one thing at a time using Mouse. I know you can drag 2 things at a time using touch screen but I can't seem to figure out how to do it using Mouse. I want 2 hands to move together when doing hand gestures so it would really help.Thanks.
For some reason after filing and labeling my character almost exactly as the example puppets I am having trouble with "headturner" and a certain animation that I have triggered for the "m" button which triggers my "Mad Eyes" animation. I seriously think the headturner issue is a bug. I have not that many eye and lid triggers but they do not seem to work smoothly. When I enable the "headturner" It deselects the eyebrows and eyes sometimes. It's happening often on one particular character.Also...where do I email the character to get help if I want to? I don't want to just put it out in forum for everyone. I plan on copyrighting and trademarking these characters.Help please!!!Thank youGary
Guys we need a real tutorial and the head turner is not working correctly.
Hi Dave, hello everyone, my Q is: What do the eye tags do, exactly? Especially "size upper/lower lid" is not clear to me, since there IS a tag already that tells the pupils not to "walk" out of the designated area, which, I thought, is the eyeball. Also, when I change the view of the TAGs to image, nothing indicates what or where this "size upper/lower lid" tag is located. More puzzling: Some of my eyelids have this tag, others don't, even though the name-structure is always identical… So please could someone explain the differences between the different tags all around the eyes…? Thank you very much for your concern and effort… Best, Stefan
Hi,I have created a BumbleBee, and I want to be able to control my characters positioning on the background with keys. I have his body constructed well with a few clever gravity points to make his limbs seems to hang. He responds to my head movements and speech and looks pretty awesome. I even have his wings fluttering in a cycle. The only problem I'm having is that, although I can move right and left slightly by moving my head, the Bee is pretty fixed in the center of the image. I wanted him to be able to fly around the scene I have created. Is it possible to make the bee "float" around the screen and direct him towards little flowers and plants that I have set on the background? I figured maybe I could set the WASD keys to go up-left-down-right much like any video game. Please let me know if there is a way to do this is would be awesome for my motion graphic.
Hi, I have an sheep character that I want to animate as though it were eating - having the head pivot around the neck to the ground and back again. I'm struggling to find a way to do that.Any ideas? Or would it be easier to do that sort of animation straight into After Effects? I was going to use Character Animator to animate the legs moving, so wanted to try do it all at once. Thanks
Hey guys! how are you?So, I'm actually using Character Animator with Windows and OBS for a program in my company. The main problem is that we're facing an issue: when the caracter goes fullscreen with OBS on a Blackscreen to make the cut (transparency / alpha), it gets somewhat pixelated, as it loses resolution at the screen. It was noticed, however, that the resolution issue is a window-resizing issue, but the notebook we're using here is a small one, and we can't afford to enlarge it because our screen resolution isn't big enough to do so.I ask of you: Is there a better or an alternative solution to fix this issue regarding my puppet's resolution?
Not a huge deal, but I'm experimenting with headturner for the first time, and it kind of threw me off that right and left are from the camera's perspective, as opposed to other tags (eyebrows, eyes, etc.) that use the puppet's point of view for right and left.I suppose headturner could be referring to the performer's perspective - because the webcam captures a mirror image, when I turn to my right the puppet turns to his left - but that may be even more confusing. As I said, not a huge deal, but it did add a little confusion to the process.
It wont let me upload the Photoshop file. Or the Character file. What can I do to make the head stay put?
Has anyone here tried to use a service like Fiverr to draw the base character? How difficult would it be to take someone's artwork and convert it?Is this a good idea? If Fiverr is the wrong place to look, then what is a good service to find Character Animator friendly talent? Thanks in Advance,Frank
I noticed the puppet file attached in the tutorial documents and there is a path logo at the right bottom corner of the thumbnails. How to make them? And how to transfer this order to Character Animator so that we can drag some lime in it?
same as my title. I use Beta5 (latest one) but it always report some errors and bugs. Is anybody kind to share a link to download with me? Thanks in advance!
please tell me how to increase time limit in timeline i think the limit is 30 sec so please tell me if i am wrong?
Im a bit of a neat freak and like my workspace to be labeled and organized. I know...not much like an artist but, I'm a designer too and like things organized.I'm working on a music video using Character animator and AfterEffects. I'm pretty much filming each cut with my puppets and naming the scenes as I go. However, my first few scenes were created by "add to new scene" which gave the scenes the puppet's names. Needless to say, its a bit confusing and I'd really like to change the names of some scenes. How does one do that??Also, it would be great if I could drag the items in my project window into groups of scenes, audio, puppets, etc... Is there a way to do that? Thanks.
Hi, First off, I have to say that I've really been enjoying the software, it's pure awesomeness.I've been working on this character for a while, but I've noticed that I am not able to see my Photoshop layers in Character Animator after the 5th sub group. Any layer inside a series of 5 sub groups doesn't seem to get recognized in Animator. Is it just me? How do I fix this? Thanks in advance!
Hi all, thanks for reading my question.1) Does Character Animator work with photographs?2) If yes, could you perhaps link to any samples or portfolios that use Character Animator to manipulate photographs?I'm only interested in working with photographs, not illustrations and cartoons. So I thought I should ask this question before learning Character Animator. Many thanks for any input!
Okay! You guys are always so helpful, I appreciate it.So I have a puppet I'm building and I'm learning how to do the multiple emotions trigger options and such, which is awesome. I figured out how to do multiple mouth sets but I want to pair each with multiple emotion sets. I can't figure out how to do it. For example, I want my "upset" mouth set to work with the "Angry (A)" eyes and the "Worried (W)" eyes and the "Sad (S)" eyes. However, it will only let me set one keyboard trigger to the "upset" mouth set. Why can't I activate the same mouth set with all three keyboard triggers? I also tried adding another keyboard trigger behavior to the mouth set, but then there are no options on the behavior to add another keyboard trigger! The only workaround I found was to duplicate the entire "upset" mouth set several times and assign each one to a trigger, "A", "W", and "S." That seems kinda wasteful and redundant. Any help appreciated!
I have a behavior Head turner on my puppet with 4 head. 2 quarter, 2 profile and no frontal. (I dont want my puppet looks on camera). each head has a cycle transition from the previous quarter profile. everything works perfectly, but it seems that CA determines one of the two quarter as the default. then, while on one side the transition from one quarter to profile works, the other not. how can i turn the head well?
The title is not very clear though, i just chose some key words appeared on my PC. Does anybody know this problem and how to solve? I tried to reinstall, but still unsuccessful.
hello fellow animatorsMy question is, I have many hands in my illustrator file for my puppet. Many hands that I want to swap in and out, some point some thumbs up some crossing fingers etc. However each of these hand layers has many clipping groups that don't show up in character animator, Also they have many many objects. What is the best way for the most efficient way to group all of this in one single image? I have a look long and hard but I can't seem to find anything addressing this specific issue please help.
Hello!I am an animation professional, currently working on Disney productions. I just recently purchased a cloud license, and the main reason for it was to fiddle with Character Animator. Long story short, I LOVE IT.Once thing that I found could be improved is the Lip Sync control . While the audio analysis is far superior to anything I have seen before (Toon Boom, Flash plugins, Crazy talk..) like any automated process, it could greatly benefit from the animator's input. I tried to do this currently and found the way we can edit those phonemes is impractical. We need to play the audio and press the different keys at the exact time, for the exact duration of each phoneme. It would require several takes to get it just right.Instead, I would like to propose this solution, which wouldn't require much code. Lipsync OVERRIDE MODEOnce selected, the timeline would display which phoneme is activated in each viseme (the information is already there, it would simply display it visual
How to solve this? I tried to install versions Preview 1 (X65) from After CC 2015:Then I tried to install Preview 4 (x184) From After 13.8.1.38:Which After Effect's version should I download to find the Preview 3?
