Dreamweaver

Folks, I've used Contribute for 10 years +, and as of a few months ago I can't connect. I know this is the Dreamweaver forum but there's no one left on the Contribute forum. I use Contribute 6.5.I can FTP to my site  using FileZilla, but that's no use to me as I know almost nothing about coding and need Contribute to edit my site. https://woodsshop.com/WoodsShop Creative Builders, San Diego, Calif. - Creative Home Deck Design/Build. I'm trying to set up a very basic site with no CMS, no web forms, no search forms. I'm not a dev person at all, but I'm inclined to do it myself since the design is so straightforward, but the site does need to be secure because the nature of the site might attract hackers. Assuming I have a great back-end dev professional and use Let's Encrypt, is there any reason I shouldn't do this myself with DreamWeaver? My understanding is that user input and third-party CMS software causes the bulk of security issues.Thanks for any input!

I have a mobile menu that when expanded overlaps a page element rather than shifts the element down.  The element was placed via a PHP includes.Here's the markup​ and CSS.The menu background is slightly opaque so you can see through behind it (screencap below), so I was wondering if the overlapping was due to the PHP includes and if the solution was to have the content directly on the page without using the includes. I'd like your help understanding what's in front of me with DW CC 17.I've updated a .php page having an SSI. The page is in the "Acts" directory; it's titled "week22.php." Both can be seen here: I also updated the SSI's dated menu item itself. It's titled "actsPart2_menu.html" and here's its screen shot.On line 13 (shown above) I've entered the updated "week22.php" menu item that goes with August 22 in the "Acts" directory.With both pages updated and uploaded, and the "week22.php" page open, I went to Tools > Library > Update pages. The following window opened up.For no apparent reason, . . .1.  After activating Update Pages, none of my "Acts" directory files that use that SSI get updated, especially my newly updated "week22.php" page. Am I to do something differently to update pages that have an SSI that's been modified?2.  Further, while none of my "Acts" directory files appear in the Update Pages widow (despite the fact that I've updated them), I see 100+ files names

Hi all ive been asked to design a website for a friend who has a blog site with blogger.now her problem is it dosent look very professional thats y she wants me to try and do something.Im a novice at Dreamweaver but i no a small bit but when it comes too creating a blog site its way over my head (you tube videos)what i need to know is it possible to create a site for my client where she can easily go into to add her stuff without using Dreamweaver as she is not very tech savvy the only option I can think is for her to email me with her stuff and me to put it in site which is not really what i want cause i have a job.THANKS ALL

I exported all my site def's from old PC.  Have them in a folder.  In DW on my new machine, I can go into "Import" and select multiple sites but then it requires me to, one-by-one, repoint to each folder for each website.  I have all my websites - with all the same names - under a "Webs" folder.  And I probably have 1,000 websites that all have to be imported. Please tell me there is a way to just drop these all back in without having to renavigate to the Webs folder for every single site.  I tried going into the REGISTRY folder, which I located, but couldn't figure out how to insert / paste the .ste files all into the registry.  Is this step only necessary to copy / export the existing definitions? What can you suggest for people like me who need these site definitions easily moved / copied / synced at all times?  It takes a massive amount of time to reconnect all of these.  Thanks in advance.

I was working in Dreamweaver CS4 and as I saved a file I experienced a grey screen; then a white screen and a message that "Dreamweaver has stopped working". Kind of obvious I guess. Now Dreamweaver won't start. It tries to do so - the Dreamweaver window loads, then a grey background. Then, immediately a white background appears with the message that saysAdobe Dreamweaver CS4 has stopped workingA problem caused the program to sto pworking correctly. Windows (7) will close the program and notify yo if a solution is available.The only optioned offered is "Close Program" which I did and the white background disappeared.1. I uninstalled Dreamweaver. and re-installed. It would not load.2. I did a check disk on my disk drive and fixed a minor error.3. I re-uninstalled Dreamweaver. and re-installed. It would not load4. I went on line and followed instruction to perform a "fix" in Dreamweaver's cache. It didn't make any difference.5. I wiped out my Configuration. That didn't make a difference.

I am looking for a basic solution to populating database information into a website. I have attempted to follow tutorials on the Adobe website and came to a dead end when the databases panel could not be found. The reality is I am a complete beginner and not even sure what type of tutorials I should be looking for. Here are the basics of what I would like to do.I have a database that only has 4 or 5 columns, around 4,000 rows. A few columns specify a category, one column shows the text I would like to appear on the site, and the other column contains a link to a webpage I would like visitors to access. I initially planned on creating 60 web pages (based on column category), and manually adding the text and hyperlink to each page. I am thinking it may be easier if I created one page that would just populate the data depending on what the visitor selected as filters. I have no need for visitors to interact with the database other than just retrieving the information. The data I have in t

Please bare with me as I am very new to dreamweaver. I created an entire website from scratch, very proud of myself, but now I've uploaded it onto my server and the ajx menu I found and inserted into the template files for my site does not look the way it does when I view it on dreamweaver. I think it is where I have it housed in my folder on the computer but I can't find anything online telling me where it needs to be saved to operate correctly in my files. Can anyone help me that knows how to do this correctly or knows HTML to see what I have set up incorrectly? Any help is greatly appreciated at this point in time. I have used the usual media queries to produce a responsive WEB design but I am having a little trouble.If I use:@media only screen and (max-width: 700px)  {I can only detect a window on a PC that has been reduced in width to less than 700px. The problem is that the max width of smart phones is as wide as a PC screen and all that happens is that the display on a phone is too small to read.It seems to me that I need to detect the dimension of the screen in cm. My media queries work properly and give the correct results within Dreamweaver CC and by adjusting the width of the window on a PC. The display on a phone is the same as on a PC except that it is too small to read properly.I have seen a lot of discussions on the WEB on this issue and on calculating the width of a phone screen but nothing that is easily used with HTML/CSS.Any suggestions?ThanksJack

A few days ago i posted a reply saying that i would now use css grid and flexbox layouts.The reason i wrote that was that after experimenting, i found that by using @support i could create a flexbox fallback for none grid supporting browsers very easily using the @support rule. This got me wondering if many people know about, know how to use or would use @support rules to easily create fallbacks.All modern browsers, (except IE11 and below) and devices, (android from 4.4, iOS from v7) support the use of the @support rule.My question is, do you know about and use the @support rule, and if not would it be a property that you think is usefull and would use if it was better supported in your prefered code editor, (or ide)?css feature queries, (@support) -https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/@supportsNote: A polyfill for IE and none supporting devices does exist, but i do not think we really require one.
