Hi,I love to use the repeater and wiggle transform features on my shape layers as a way to simulate how C4d cloners work. With this I often stack multiple wiggle transforms with the wiggles per second set to 0. I do this to mimic the random effector. Then I like to add some fun variation to my strokes by adding a wiggle path with wiggles per second set to 0. I play with the index until I get the desired look I like. The issues I am running into with this:1. Often when I add a new layer in my timeline, these functions appear to re-index themselves. The index number doesn't actually change, but a new variation is created (Lets call this "False Re-indexing). The look finessing I worked on goes to waste. 2. For objects that I want to animate and have the wiggles per second set to something other than 0... They often do a similar index shifting as I work on my project. Resulting in my shape layers making big jumps at random positions during preview. My hunch is that it
Color Swatches are flat but the love for gradients is not going to stop. So, I'm looking at a way to display a Gradient within a Color Swatch. Should be useful for Gradient Fill and Gradient Stroke in Shape Layers. And as an aside, who decided to name Timeline Markers, Composition Markers??? 😄Having Composition Markers is actually a good way for leaving/exchanging notes directly in a Composition; where a Marker Comment may have more contextual relevance than a Timeline Marker.
Can we please edit Warp Stabilizer's Methods by selecting each Position, Scale, Rotation separately, instead of being forced as a group, because sometimes we only want to change position and rotaion, but not scale, asd it tends to go crazy zooming in and out, which forces us to only use position and manually change rotation. It's really pain and been the only issue of me since the begining. Why can't we select the desired methods, as many as we need?
I just finished a lighting fix I needed to do for an interview shot by someone else. It went okay, but I feel I could have had more control. I'll explain. Instead of just having spot lights where you adjust the cone, etc., I'd rather see a more accurate simulation of how film and video lighting is done on a real set. First of all, if you're trying to fix a video that's already been shot, even if you convert that layer to 3D, it's still going to appear in 3D space as a flat plane, so you can't do things like backlighting, etc. And if you're fixing lighting, or trying to do something creative with lighting, you need to be able to light objects separately within the frame. WHAT IF Adobe could use AI to automatically detect and separate all the individual objects in a flat video, then the user could drag each object along a Z axis to determine how far apart those objects were? Then you could pick virtual lights according to commonly used lights (e.g
Omino snake is not working plz give us default plugin like Omino snake.
Many FBX models come with looping animation. When bringing them into After Effects, it'd be really great, if they could be set to loop. Right now, if you select an animation option, it just plays it once.
Hey there!I think it would be awesome if the mini flowchart had some representation of the comp colors that you set. Here you can see the flow with the AFX accent blue, but the capsules surrounding the comps are grey. These grey outlines I think should utilise the comp color as per the tabs, layers etc. Thanks!
Hi, I brought this idea up back when OCIO was in beta. Placing it here in ideas now. Currently the OCIO Look Transform, Color Space Transform and Display only function with project management set to OCIO for the config file path. While the implementation of project wide OCIO is very welcome, there will still be a lot of usecases and reasons where one will desire to have the project itself run "non managed" / hybrid managed context in Adobe color mode and use conversions through effects only. It would be nice to have AE function like this: - OCIO config file/path is always read and can be defined regardless of the project being in Adobe or OCIO managed color mode. - OCIO effects mentioned above will by default always read the path from the project settings. - Extra parameters will be added to those effects labeled OCIO configuration: [From Project] as it's settings which would be default but can be overridden by a custom path or one of the other configs that are in the software's
We respectfully request access to Adobe Effects installation and updates that do not require AVX2 support. Upgrading our processors to meet this requirement would impose a substantial financial burden on our organization. We cater to millions of customers who continue to rely on older systems, and we fully understand the limitations they face. Given the current economic climate, the cost of upgrading these systems can be exceedingly high, making it impractical for many users. Therefore, we urge you to consider our request to ensure that all customers can continue to use Adobe Effects without the need for costly hardware upgrades. Thank you for your understanding.
Here's a simple feature request suggestion that could be pretty useful: Imagine you've created hundreds of loops and rendered them from many multiple/unique AE projects over weeks or months. And then you've been working with just the finished rendered movies in a different AEP that is no longer associated with the original source AEPs which generated each of the rendered loops. Next you want clean up that mess and re-associate all of the renders with the source comps from the different projects that created them all in a combined AEP. Now (assuming your rendered movies had "include project link" enabled) instead of using the "Edit Original" command to open up the original projects one at a time — the requested feature is — adding "Replace with AEP" to the "Replace Footage" dropdown menu as an option to replace the footage item with a folder containing the original AEP that initially created the render... The utility of this feature would save a few steps that is especial
Posted about this issue around 10 years ago, but it's been really driving me up the wall today so I figured I'd moan about it afresh. Being able to have audio waveforms visible in your timeline alongside keyframes etc is wonderful. Most of my work relies on tight integration with music cues, so being able to show a layer's audio and make that waveform nice and big so I can see the hit points is essential. Sometimes the hit points are audible but not clearly visible in the waveform, so I generate a metronome audio track as well and drop that into the comp — that way I can see the hit points. Don't want to hear it, just see the waveform. Or I'll have a preview version of some audio (maybe something with SFX in it) and I want to line up better samples in AE for a quick turnaround. The issue: if a layer has the audio switched off/muted (the speaker switch), the waveform completely disappears. So if you need to see the waveform for any reason, you can't avoid heari
When receiving AEPs, it's not uncommon to have to perform lots of clicks to find the right Comp. So, I'm looking at a new Column in the Project Panel to lock Project Items - this will make it easier to safeguard assets/comps while also serving to let others know which are do-not-touch areas in an AEP.
That Vector Feathering in Rive - oh my!!! Can we get one, or two of those? 🙂AE's design features could do with oneToAFew new/updated features/tools.And another thing that's NOT been around for ages is a Design Topic at the bottom of this text field. Users can pick from quite a few topics but Design or Motion Design isn't one of them - I've always found this a lot sad because AE is a Motion+Design tool. So, let's Make Feathers Great Again - in AE! 🙂
I think it would be incredibly useful if After Effects displayed the waveform of an audio file when double-clicking it in the Project Panel—just like how other footage types appear in the Footage Panel. As motion designers, we often work with voiceovers and music directly in After Effects, and finding the right in/out points without a waveform preview is a guessing game. A built-in visual preview of the waveform would save time and make trimming much more intuitive. If you think this would improve your workflow, please upvote this request! Let’s make it happen.
I don't know if I'm just doing something wrong, but I've been running into this annoyance for several projects now. I bring in my big Photoshop image with a ton of layers, do some animation, then realize I need to add some more time. So I change the comp length and for some absurd reason, everything in the timeline doesn't change so I need to go into every single folder and change it there too. Why can't I set it so all the folders in the timeline automatically adjust to the new time? Why does Aftereffects look at all my folders and go "Oh, they changed the length from 0:00:02:00 to 0:00:03:00, they don't need this other stuff to be the same size surely 🙂 " It's so frustrating and takes up so much time.
The erratic zooming with the Apple Magic Mouse is really frustrating. I know this issue has more to do with the Apple mouse than it does Adobe but if there was an option to lock the screen size it might fix the issue. This is a problem in other Adobe products as well, Premiere Pro, Photoshop and so forth.
Radial minimax would be great. Like radial blur but you could take advantage of the hightlights in your footage, achieving another type of look. You could put a regular radial blur between 2 exposures with 0.1 and 10 gamma but it doesn't really work sometimes.I think this could be a nice effect to add.
Dear adobe employees, please i beg you, add the effect "add grain" to work on a 32 bits per channel workflow please, the noise effect (who is the only "grain" who work on 32 bits per channel) is absolute useless, it nearly no have any options to modify the noise, so i beg you adobe, add "add grain" to 32 bits per channel, thanks
Text style expressions are fantastic! But chaining many methods together is verbose. Idea:Similar to getStyleAt(), I would like a setStyleAt() method. I want to create a style that contains a bunch of methods, and apply that style to a range. This method should apply a predefined Text Style object to a specified range and optional time.Parameters: Text Style object, index, time text.sourceText.setStyleAt(style, 0, 0) How will the idea help your workflow? I find myself chaining many style methods together and needing to individually apply all methods to the same ranges. This creates many lines of code for 1 "look". Example: text.sourceText.style .setFillColor(effect("Color Control")("Color"), startIndex, numChars) .setFont("Impact", startIndex, numChars) .setTracking(5, startIndex, numChars) .setAllCaps(true, startIndex, numChars) Benefits of Feature:If setStyleAt() method takes in a style object as a param, we can
Currently, when scaling a layer in After Effects, the mask scales along with it. This behavior is often inconvenient, especially when users want to resize only the layer content while keeping the mask's shape and position intact. It would be extremely helpful to have an option in the Transform properties that allows users to choose what to scale:Scale Content Only (scales the image/video but keeps the mask fixed)Scale Mask Only (scales the mask but keeps the content size unchanged)Scale Both (default behavior)This small addition would greatly improve workflow efficiency, reducing the need for unnecessary pre-compositions or track matte setups.Would love to see this feature in future updates!
I would like functionality similar to "Add Property to Essential Graphics" but with the effect controls panel and expression controllers. I often create custom controllers for specific properties using expression controllers. The ability to quickly right-click a property and "Add Property to Effect Controls" would significantly speed up this process. I envision the command would carry out the following Add the corresponding expression controller(s) to the layer Label the controller(s) based on the Effect Name and Property Name (e.g. "Fractal Noise 1 - Evolution")Link the selected properties to the newly created expression controllers via expressions. A bonus would be clicking and dragging any of these properties directly to the effect controls panel. This would allow users to add these property controls to other layers, such as a null object controller. If an expression already exists on the property, the new expression would replace it.
1. When sizing the shape in Shape Properties it should respect the anchor point position. Sizing from the centre makes no sense. I should be able to scale the shape like it is in Illustrator or Photoshop. They respect the position of anchor point. Please fix this.2. Enabling "Bezier Path" in the toolbar is not always a good option as sometimes I want to keep the shape parametric. The option to convert it afterwards should be extremely easy but now it has too many steps to complete.
Disclaimer I am VERY new to After Effects, but one thing I struggle with in both AE and PR is using nests and pre-comps without a way to see/compare it easily to the main sequence or composition. Why isn't there an option to view your main content at a lower opacity while you're working in a nest/pre-comp, like an "onion skin" effect? When I am rotoscoping in AE there are different view options to see it with the pink outline over your foreground or with the background highlighted in red. I think something similar could be helpful when working in a nest/pre-comp so I can better align things on the screen by seeing my main content and adjusting accordingly. If something like this exists please let me know!
When leaving AE idle; going to another App or for a break, the AutoSave timer continues. Then, you get back to AE, you have to wait for an Auto-Save to happen. This is irritating, especially on large projects. Perhaps a quick fix might include - Perform AutoSave Even When Idle option in PrefsStop hogging AE when I return from my break!
So, deploying character ranges for the new text styling feature is a PITA. So, I'm thinking we have the wrong tool(s) for character ranges. So, howzabout we have a new type of slider that has TWO controls instead of the regular single control. The Left Control defines the start range and the Right Control, the length of the range. And via scripting/Expression control, we simply add arguments to get at each of these controls. And we'll call this 2-Control Slider, S2lider. 😄 My thoughts are with S2lider, it'll be much easier for average and even experienced users to start enjoying using the very cool text styling feature and hopeful/wishful that it'll be more performant than the verbose lines of code that's currently required to achieve identical results. So, we'll have a specific S2lider for Characters, another for Words and another for Lines and one more for Paragraph. and it's essentually the same slider but with functionality Based On a DropMenu to select
