What's the point of having the Resolution of the composition and Pixel Aspect Ratio in the Video info column? It takes up space for nothing. Can you remove the resolution display and create another column for the Pixel Aspect Ratio?By the way, Video Info and Frame Rate could be merged.
In the render queue I can select 'Duplicate with File Name' on an existing render queue item. What I would really like to see is an extra option to increment the file name during duplication.I tried to make a script for this but it seems impossible the retrieve an array of selected items in the render queue...Would be great if the option to 'Duplicate with Incremented File Name' (or 'Increment and Duplicate'?) is added, including a shortcut.Otherwise, maybe add an option to retrieve an array of selected items in the render queue in scripting? Then I can just script a button myself. Thanks for considering!
With the new ASES workflow it's now more then ever important to interpret footage with the right color profile.Setting this for every footage file is a hassle, especially when working with footage from multiple sources (footage in ACES, in camera-log, in rec709, in sRGB). I know you can set it once and copy (remember) and paste (apply) it on multiple footage files, but then it copies and pastes all the interpret settings, like frame rate, alpha, PAR.Using scripts I can make presets to change just the frame rate or pixels aspect ratio, but I can't seem to find a way to set just the color profile using a script. It would be great if I can create a couple of presets for a project, put them under a button (using kBar) and every time I import a footage file (camera source, artwork, cgi) I can just press a color profile preset and set the footage to the right color profile (arri800, Slog-3, srgb, rec709, ASEScg, etc), just like I can do with the frame rate and pixel aspect ratio. Thanks for th
InDesign has this nice feature where you can place a PSD file and then turn off layers as you please. The function is called "Object Layer Options"This makes you able to have multiple "states" of the PSD - but only saved inside InDesign, not the actual PSD file. This function i often use for inserting multiple images from ONE file.If i make 10 duplicates of the same comp I can enter each and turn off layers insteadof having to make 10 copies of the same one.So visible layers should be unique for each duplication of the same comp.Fell free to ask me for details 🙂
Properties Panel have to include Content Add customization options as well. You can neatly adjust some basic settings in properties panel, but still need to jump through many layers of parameteres to customize zig-zag, twist, repeater etc. Would love to see it added to the properties panel, as they are very clunky to go through the layer options.
Since a new feature allow to color Keyframe in every tone in After Effect 22.6, the design of the selection of the keyframe changed in something really annoying to look at. Before, it was in full blue, now, it has some outline and it is harder to dissociate with the non-selected keyframe. Every software of editing or 3D has selection keyframe in another color, because that is the most intuitive design to have. Why does After Effect change this after so many years ? We use this software since so many years like this and it was one of the few things that no one was ever complaining about, there is no reason to have some regression in the design, because some people can't organize their project without making "rainbow time-consuming keyframe"... Please allow us to disable the color features and bring back the Full Blue Selected Keyframe as an option. That is an easy request and every users can be happy about this, I am stuck to the 22.5.0 version because of this.
Would be great if the sequence timecode accepted maths like the rest of AFX. I.E. if you are at a frame or timecode, and want to jump forward or back x amount of frames or seconds for example. It would be a great QOL improvement
Scrolling through dozens+ comps in the timeline window takes a lot of unnecessary time. Could you please create 'tabs' so you could bundle some comps together and scroll past one tab, as opposed to say, 12 comps. Chrome recently introduced this, where you can group together webpages and make your tabs list at the top less cluttered.
This is a minor one but some way to add labels to effects (in Effect Controls) and parts of (e.g. Acceleration) as a way to prompt if they forget what a section means or even saved into the data for an animation preset so said preset can be adjusted to user's preferences with the label acting as a little info prompt. Like how website templates have comments in the HTML/CSS to tell the user what a part does.
Time-Reverse Keyframes seems to ignore any keyframes selected between the firs and the last selected keyframe. Came across this, while I wanted to create an alternating color transition (see picture for the situation).I selected every other keyframe, but invoking Time-Reverse Keyframes just reversed the whole keyframe sequence, ignoring my carefully selected subset. Please make the function work for selections as well.
A checkbox in the effect controls for the Noise effect called "Relative to comp size" that gives you consistent noise scaled to the comp rather than the layer size
For an effect that I am building, I need to happen a lot of things in a single layer. That is where the Effect/Channel/Calculations comes in handy. But unfortunately, the Blending Modes this effect offers are not the same as those for Layers. E.g.: Hard Mix is missing. And that's exactly the one I need for my project... Would it be possible to extend the effect with all Blending Modes?
Adding/moving the default output drop down into the render queue would really speed up a lot of batch production. If need thirty pro res with alpha I currently have to go to edt/templates/output module to set it, then again to put it back to the give-Dolby-cash-for-mp4 preset.I would LOVE to be able to set this in the render queue. But fix the application wide default render folder prefrence bug first!
After Effects finally needs a competitive 3D Realtime Engine (GPU) for 3D compositing and virtual workflows of the future. The Link to Cinema is too slow, complicated and unstable for simple 3D compositing tasks. So it needs something like "3D Elements" on steroids and native in AE.Dranging some 3D Assets into AE, add some effects, tweak and light them, is a must have in 2022. Compositing, Motion Graphics and VFX are not only 2D/2,5D! - they happen now also in 3D and Realtime! What this new real time 3D Engine needs: - 3D Geometry Support (import/export)- PBR Shaders- Link to Substance Painter/Designer- Primitives' and very basics modeling (box, spline) and deformer Tools - Raytrace Lighting, Reflections (GPU)- Support of 3D Volumes and Point Clouds (vdb.)- Camera Mapping Tools- Advanced Camera Tracker (more manuell control, constrains, import/export)- Smart 3D Particles with Physics (node editor)- VR HMD Support thxPS: I wirte this since years. please don't delete my requests again.
why does the opacity parameter of the fill effect affects the opacity of the entire layer? this does not make sense at all! please fix this.
When would mogrts created in after effects be compatible with premiere Rush? this would allow people to easily create content on their smart phone gor social media! pls make this possible.
Please, make menu bar darker like Illustrator or Photoshopit's anoying to see a white bar on the top of After Effects on Windows.Thank You.
Hello, We use AE constantly, like everyone here. One universal feature that is both quality of life, and a productivity enhancer, would be to implement a thumbnail view in the project panel. When animators create complex projects with many source files, being forced to scan through them one at a time as a text list item and seeing a slow-to-render small thumbnail of a single image is extremely inefficient for the user. I have here a screen grab from a piece of software that was last updated back in 2022 called aeviewer. This does achieve the general UI functionality we desire for AE, the only problem is, this does NOT allow this view for files that are INSIDE your AE project. This script is essentially a replacement for adobe bridge, or something of that nature. It allows you to scan your harddrive, and double click to import the file you find and want to use into your AE project. This is also a problematic workflow in that it creates a new aefinder folder, and deposits imports th
Instead of being used for zoom use the scroll feature for scrolling and have the screen zoom as a locked position that we can increase and decrease using option scroll or (Command) + (+ and -). Having my zoom increments change every time I touch my magic mouse is frustrating.
Using the warp stabilizer in After Effects, it allows you to see the track points and delete specific ones. I think something that should have/could have easily already been done is have a human/person detection feature where you can choose to not allow the track points to adhere to people. I typically go through (almost) frame by frame and delete the track points on the person in my shot so the stabilization is only connected to the scene and it just takes forever.Or maybe even just simply a "do not track" area or mask where you can select an area in the frame where tracking points aren't "allowed"...
Was told to great this into an idea! Here it is! Speaking specifically for the motiongraphics usage of after effects. The problemI use external 3d programs with after effects, which means I need to bring a copy of my 3d camera into after effects and in all 3d programs you can use orthographic, perspective, and panoramic camera types (in blender at least). With after effects only supporting perspective style cameras, its currently impossible to add after effects elements to a isometric camera set up. The AskAdd, orthographic support to the native after effects camera. Which expands the options for integrating 3d/2d work flows! Especially with the expansion of 3d object support in after effects its self. please and thank you!
It would be extremely helpful to be able to define our own render tokens somehow. We often have very long and complex filenames that string together common elements like "Project Code," "Client Name," "Project Name," "Deliverable Name," "First/Last Initials," "Version Number", "Language"It would be helpful to be able to define these somewhere in the AE project, perhaps as metadata, and then allow them to be used as render tokens/properties that can be used in the existing File Name and Location Templates.Sure, we can manually enter this information ourselves when we go to render. We could also rename our comps this way (though comp readability would become terrible). But it becomes a chore when we have dozens or hundreds of files to render. It would help with quality-of-life and ease-of-use to be able to set up these tokens once per project and reuse them. Filenames and render folder locations would be much more consistent (even when sharing the project with multiple artists on differe
The Camera Tracker seems to guess the scale of a scene, resulting in enormous spaces without any relation to the shot footage. It would be nice to have an approximation of the real world scale. This can be done in Cinema 4d style, by defining a 'known length' between two tracked points. Please add something alike.
What is the chance of Adobe bringing back Adobe Color Themes to After Effects? It was SUCH a useful thing to have for mograph work. I know we can use the color.adobe.com website and libraries, but having it all in-app was so useful. There is an alternative plug in on AE scripts, https://aescripts.com/coco-color-coworker/, but it seems absolutely daft for Adobe to strip out a much-used feature for it to replaced by a paid plug-in. Please, can we have it back?
Would like to see an ability to open renderet file by pressing on it's name in the Render Queue tab.
