Im sure im not the first one asking for it and i wont be the last. Why is the process of moving or rotating an object with existing position or rotation keyframes such a hassle? You need to create a null, position the null at the pivot point of the object and parent the object to the null in order to move or rotate such an object. How about holding a key that will temporarily disable the creation of a keyframe when dragging or rotating an object? Dont tell me thats impossible to implement
Using the search feature in the timeline is fairly limited as many aspects of a layer can't be searched. It would be great if the user could search by layer type and attributes because many times the user only needs to focus on layers with common attributes. Some useful search options could include:Layer TypeShape LayersSolidsTextNull LayersAdjustmentsPrecompsMatte LayersGuide Layers AttributesHas KeyframesHas ExpressionsParentOrphanedHas MaskLayers at CTILayers in Preview RangeLayer Styles
It would be great to have a real 3D workspace in After Effects with possibility to import 3D models. Here's a couple of features we could have:-Possibility to import 3D models (this used to be possible through a clunky and slow photoshop workflow)-PBR Shaders with inputs for textures-Default generation of UVs (Cube map, Sphere map, etc) for models without UVs-Possibility to project textures from a camera or a special projector object-Simple deformers for 3D models (Bend, Twist, Displace, etc...)-Possibility of extruding shape and text layers-Simple Open GL render engine-Raytraced Render Engine-Possibility to use 3rd party renderersIn node based compositors that do have a 3D workspace usually the 3D work needs to go through a render node so that it can then be composited back with the normal 2D nodes. This could be accomplished with a new type of comp called 3D Comp which would contain all the 3D models cameras, lights, etc… and render out a flat file.I know some of these features can b
Would be great to see consistency troughout the creative cloud regarding Free Transform.Illustrator does the best job in my opinion with the different ways you can transform an object using the alt/shift/option keys (same as the 'Legacy Free Transform' in Photoshop which they decided to make inconsitent for some reason)
It would be great to see conistency troughout Adobe CC regarding the snapping of shapes/objects/guides.After Effects is missing smart guides and the ability to snap guides to the edges of the composition (while Photoshop and Illustrator can both do this).I've noticed this has been a request for a while now so would be great to see this finally implemented.
I would like to be able to access the "source/mask/effects & mask" drop down menu on effects that use a layer selector... sorry for the caps
I am not using the library for the exported .mogrt files, so please stop opening this panel every time I export, as I then have to close it again every single freaking time and with all the exporting I'm doing right now it's really getting on my nerves.
Requiring a track matte to be right above the layer it modifies seems like an archaic convention at best. Get rid of that requirement and make them like parent layers which can be anywhere and used by many layers.
So J and K are potentially really useful keys but in practice there is often way too many keyframes on a timeline. How about adding the ability to add a modifier key, such as ALT, which would let J and K navigate to the next keyframe or marker ON SELECTED LAYERS ONLY. That would be most appreciated Mr. Adobe, thank-you.
Would it be possible for dust and scratch to calculate only the content of masked area ? For now it seems to calculate the whole image whatever we mask, this could make it so much faster.Dust and scratch is a neat little tool, but it's so slow...
I've searched for many tutorial for After effects about a deflicker and I have only found commercial plugin. Could be very useful for users this effect or function integrated in AE (or Premiere), AE is very powerful and seems strange to me that isn't an included function. I tested the similar solution for davinci resolve 18 (integrated FX but only disponible for demo in the free version) and it works beautifully but I already own in office the full Adobe suite and I don't want to buy 300$ Davinci for a single clip (or a 150-200$ plugin). Thanks
Atm some effects in After Effects don't respect the motion blur samples. For example the transform effect, so when you animate something moving fast with the transform effect you will see the banding. The only way to fix this is to use cc force motion blur. But its very very very slow. And a bad solution.I provided an easy to replicate project file and a video. Using M1 Max & AE 22.6.0 Much love, Dierenwinkel
I think it will be Great if AE be able to do Responsive Duration, Work area or Resolution comp with expression.
When importing a PSD that contains groups with layer effects or layer masks applied, After Effects simply disregards them without warning. Ideally AE should support these common photoshop features or at the very least, present a prompt detailing which layers have unsupported features. Currently when I receive a new PSD from a designer, my standard process is to bring it in to AE and try to spot all the layers that are broken then play a detective game to figure out which unsupported feature in photoshop is causing the issue. It could be far more streamlined.
A lot of us use After Effects for character animation, as it's very powerful pairing the ability to draw and manipulate vector shapes directly in AE, along with plugins like DUIK... but it's lacking tools like auto lip sync, which is a feature of the vastly inferior Character Animator. Can Adobe please use CA's audio analysis and lip sync tools in AE?
How it could work:Sometimes not all properties should be just animatedSo What if we could decide upon the Essential Graphics Panel where we do all the design of the UX for the editor -- what if we could check some of the controls to be animatable within the Premiere Pro Whether it could be set by right clicking on the property or a special button right next to it
3rd party tools could benefit a lot from a tad of love to the way keyframes are being treated through scripting. The fact that there are no methods for moving a keyframe to a different time in the timeline means that we have to delete keyframes and create new ones instead. Let alone the fact that the process can be quite complex, but most importantly it means more code, more function calls, etc. Once we have to work with tens / hundreds of keyframes at a time, it seems to me that performance easily becomes painfully slow. On top of that, it seems to me that this method of manipulating keyframes through scripting forces the selection of the property, which triggers the selection of a layer which is already very slow through scripting (on my tests slower than most other layer related methods), it forces us to later on revert the selection state to what it was, which is again even more code to run. All of these add up to a really not so great experience. When working wi
There are a few hidden but incredible powerful features in After Effects, but that are a bit tricky to access, and presently dont have any keyboard shortcut assigned.I think they would be a valuable addition: Compositing Options ; Master Properties ; Close all other panels in the timeline (not just the current panel CTRL + w)Cheers!
If you import a PSD into After Effects as a comp, and then add more layers in Photoshop afterwards, it would be very useful to have an option to auto-update the after effects comp with new layers. Currently you have to manually re-import another iteration of the comp, then cut and paste the new layers. It's very time consuming!: )
It would be great to get something like KBAR implemented into AE. It really makes workflow faster with one click bottons. C4D is great like that as well.
Could we have an option on preferences to order the labels alphabetically? I know its a thing that the old school folk set like that for convenience but I got years working of AE and I aways find confusind to find certain colors.Or even better, let us set the labels group as we want. This setup could be set universally so the keyframes labels could get their order from it.
Nowadays I get some animations as a single psd with lots of artboards inside. But when I import them to AE it makes a huge comp that shows the whole psd. I'd like something like a checkbox on the import window to tell AE to align all Artboards to the top left corner of the first one and use the size of thas artboard to create the comp. I know I could either export multiple artboards as files and also I could manually do the thing I suggested above, but could we just automate this? Would be very helpful and save us some time.
If I'm comping together a 3D render I will often be waiting for the frames to arrive while still working in AE. A handy technique is to render the first and last frames to create a placeholder, then the 3d render can work in the background filling in the missing frames while I do the compositing. This creates the problem that AE will warn about the missign frames every time a new frame is rendered. You can disable this by turning off the warning in preferences, but that means you won't be told that your image sequence is missing a frame or two next time you import one, which is even worse.A good solution would be to make the warning about missing frames appear only when you import a sequence, when you open / save a project with missing frames, or when you render.
Hi,When having lots of comps and precomps it gets difficult on what comp is active in the project outliner. My suggestion would be that the comp in the project outline is slightly highlighted when the comp is active. I think it would be a massive workflow improvement with little changeThanks in advance Ruud Zeelenberg.
In C4D you can 'mute' keyframes - essentially this acts like deleting the keyframe except that a dummy 'reference' key is left there, perhaps greyed out, that stores the value(s) and interpolations it had before it was muted. Keyframes to either side behave exactly as if it was not there, until it is un-muted.
