Hi.Does anybody know how to harden variables in ExtendScript ?

お世話になります。中国語の言語(Microsoft Yahei)を使用して作業をしています。fm12から2019年度版にバージョンを上げるとfm上ではきちんとフォントが表示されるのにpdf化をすると、全角文字が化けます。対策として、コントロールパネル-地域-言語設定で、中文の言語パックをインストールしました。また、フォントキャッシュを再構築しました。が変化ありません。このようなことは初めてだし、PCの設定には疎いので、皆目見当がつきません。解決法ご存じの方、おられませんか？ 

FrameMaker currently allows only column-based footnotes. Academic and other arenas often use very different footnote standards. For instance, it is common to have "running" footnotes. They look like a single paragraph with footnote reference numbers for each entry. Another common style is a fixed number of footnote columns that does not correspond with the number of text columns, e.g., three columns for footnotes, but two columns for text. Footnotes often roll back to "1" with reference to sections or even individually numbered paragraphs rather than when the page increments. So para 2.3 might have three footnotes, numbered 1, 2, & 3, followed by para 2.4 with footnotes 1 & 2. I'd like to see these options available.

Is there a way to customize the Table Format drop-down menu (in Insert Table) to reflect the customized list in the Table Catalog? Frame 2019 Robert

Hi all,I am working in Dita 1.3.  I have created a table.  I am able to adjust the column widths and position of the table on the page.  However, I cannot find a way to center the text in each column. I can use the center selection  but after the document is saved and then reopened the text in each cell reverts to left justification.  Is this limitation of DITA or am I missing something.Thanks

Hello,  I'm working with structured FrameMaker and trying to keep my function definition on a single page. I.e move to the next page if it does not fit. I have a container element for this function as below. I guess I need to add some Paragraph formatting options. Hi All,I'm working with a team that presently uses Framemaker to create product documentation.  In order to get better collaboration with the designers, we want to author the content on a wiki (Confluence).  The end target is a pdf - and we're researching if we can generate the pdf directly from Confluence; however, it seem to fall short in a number of areas.  Confluece has a nice REST API that I can use to pull the structured content.  Is there any way to have Framemaker import the content from a uri or script rather than a file?Thanks in advance for your time.

I am writing a DITA document. I am trying to change the color of the Note element choice "caution" text from black, which is the default, to red. I've tried changing things in the commonelements.mod, but with no luck. I know you can do this. I am not a programmer, so it would be helpful to have it explained in a step-by-step manner.ThanksRobert

Is it possible to create a template with all the traslations say for 15 languages. I have all the translated text.When I open the template and want to read it in a particular language, I just selesct the language from drop down and all the content/sections in the documnets changes to that particular language.Can I do it with FrameMaker, MS word does it but have to create drop downs for individual segment of the document.  Can anyone suggest any application that does this sort of thing.Thank you.

I'm banging my head against the wall right now, it seems.I have a Frame book that contains docs with some very large images.When I print the book to pdf without changing any settings, the pdf is ~7.5MB in size.However, I need to general a copy that is < 6MB (max size for loading to a particular site).Last night, I managed to hit a setting that, when I generated the document, created a 960KB pdf. Yay!The problem now is ... I didn't record the setting that I changed (I'd tried various options) and it was very late at night when I did it. Thus... now I can't remember what the setting was. I've gone through all the print setup and pdf setup options I can find, and cannot significantly reduce the size (the smallest I get now is ~7.1 MB). In a nutshell (too late), if I were in InDesign I would generate a webready file. I need to know how to do that in Frame -- and I *know* that it can be accomplished with a *single* setting. But I just can't find it. Can anybody point me in the

What's all this about – all the ditamaps I've made so far (outside FM) simply have a <title>, so I'm curious as to what these elements are for/do, and frustratedly curious about how to set/select/define them. The on-line help … doesn't, really:<booktitle>The <booktitle> element contains the title information for a book, including the library title, main title, subtitle, and other titles (as required).

"Applying transformation... DITAVAL file not found. Check if the DITAVAL file has been moved."Of course it's not found: I've never asked for one.  I occasionally use .ditaval files in my usual DITA environment, but I'm pointing FM19 at a small set of clean files where no conditions have been set up or applied. Even the interface understands that.What do I do next/ what am I misunderstanding?

It's probably obvious, but I can't find anything in the Help to explain what these two highlighted columns are for. Nothing ever appears in them.   

I am using FrameMaker 2019. In the PDF output of my table of contents, the heading text, dots, and page number area all clickable and take you to that heading in the PDF. In my list of figures and tables, only the figure number and table number is clickable. The dots and page number are not. The reference pages appear to be set up the same way, and I have enabled the option to create hyperlinks in the setup for each list file. Suggestions? Thanks!  

I am in the same boat with the TOC. It will not generate and the one that was there before will not pick up the two chapters I added since inheriting the book. I tried generating a new TOC but the formatting is wrong and I cannot seem to import anything from the existing TOC that has the  correct formatting. I am not a Frame guru either so this is frustrating at best. I am not even sure where I am going wrong at this point!

Hi all,I have a text inset that needs to be placed after a heading and is the only content in the section. When I insert the inset, there is always an extra paragraph tag after the inset. When I click on the inset, this tag is included in the selection but the tag is not present in the inset .fm file. Is there an updated solution to this problem for Framemaker 2019? thanks,Elo

Hi,After using Unstructured Framemaker for 7 years, our file directories have become very disorganised, with documents containted in Framemaker books scattered across multiple folders and images referenced in documents equally scattered across multiple folders.We want to reorganise our Framemaker Documents and Referenced Images. However, we've found that doing so, messes up the reference paths to images and document references in the book. We're talking in the region of  30 plus Framemaker Books, each containing 10+ documents and referencing in excess of 1000 images.Does anyone know of a way to move framemaker documents and referenced images withour having to redo all the image and document references? We're currently using v2017, but is just about to upgrade to v2019.

Dear all,I have opened one of my pdfs in Acrobat and klicked on a Flash object. PDF gives me this advice:For some of the flash objects I want to present in pdfs I do not have a source, from which I could produce something else. And an object like the Swiss Railway Clock can not be replaced by a video (but by Java, JavaScript etc.)Do you know of any converters Flash → ... which provides a format suitable for pdf embedding?

I'm having difficulties especially with the Symbol Font Family. I'm following the standard steps of converting an unstructured document, ie, first generating the conversion table from the document itself and, then "Structure" -> "Utilities" -> "Structured Current Document". However, the converted file has all the "Symbol Font Family" characters as Times New Roman.  Is there an automatic way to tell FM to preserve the Font Family of each character? PS: Tried to upload fm files, but this page keeps telling me the file wasn't fm. Thus, I'm uploading snapshots...

I need to sort fm files in a FrameMaker book files in alphanumeric order or maybe even in a specific order. Is there a utility/script which allow me to do that?/bjørn

When I publish Repsonsive HTML5 the resulting index.html file contains the following meta:  Exposing the "C:" drive is not allowed in our application. How do I remove this from the published file?

Some of the tables in the Responsive HTML5 output has broken borders.FM19:  Output:As you can see there's a part of the border missing in the third row (BIGINT), between first and second column. What can I do to fix this issue? (The pdf output looks perfect.)
