Hi All,I am facing an issue while creating the pdf from the book file. I have a book file which consists of multiple chapters some are in the same folder(where book file is present ) and some are in a different folder. I have a cross-reference for every chapter in the book file. But when I run the extends script to create a pdf then pdf created successfully but the cross-reference of those chapters which are in the different folders is broken. Since the first update to FM2019, I've had the text in files turn into garble twice, the first time I closed and reloaded the document - all ok. The second time it stopped scrolling through and FM just closed, no error, no warning.Has anyone else seen this in the latest version?

Hello all,I am pretty new to FrameMaker and I am playing around with making custom bullets with FontAwesome. The only issue I am having is that the bullet isn't positioned exactly how I want it to be.How can I change the vertical position of the bullet to be centered with the first line in the paragraph?Thanks in advance!Photo as example:

I'm on a Windows 10 OS, using Frame 2017. I have an unstructured Frame document in this order:paragraph 1paragraph 2paragraph 3paragraph 4paragraph 5Section headparagraph 6When I Save As RTF, paragraph 6 replaces paragraph 4. Then the rest of the document is fine...Section head; paragraph 6, etc.If I retype paragraph 6, then the conversion is fine. I see nothing unusual or weird in the paragraph. Easy fix to retype but I'm wondering if there are problems in the remaining 300 pages. Any way I can narrow this down to find the problem?DM

Hi, FrameMaker downloaded via Creative Cloud on Aug. 7th and installed on the same day.OS is Windows 10.When I opened a book file in FrameMaker and want to "Save as PDF", it always failed. The error message is :I have tried solution 1 in Adobe PDF printer is missing | Manually install PDF printer​ . It didn't work.And for solution 2, I couldn't find  Documents\*.pdf (Adobe PDF) in the drop-down list.The following picture shows the content of distiller.zip in the FrameMaker_15_x64_LREFDJ(1) zip file I downloaded. I only have Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (not Pro), I'd like to know if this error comes from only having Acrobat Reader DC instead of Pro DC?Looking forward to your replies and help.

I have a feeling the answer to this is "you can't", but I'll ask anyway because some of my users don't like this. Neither do I, actually, and I can't figure out why it would happen like this.We have tables with a black border around the outside and a thin grey border separating the rows and columns. The grey row border line intersects and overlays the black table border, so it looks like a series of dashed lines (if you zoom in enough). Oddly, the column borders do not do the same thing: the table border at the top and bottom are uninterrupted. See graphics. So why is this, and is there any way to fix it?

It's late, and I am not sure what the proper way to phrase this is 🙂I need to create a document that includes a table containing device types, their support for features 'A' and 'B', and the regions in which they can be used.I can create a simple table to hold that info, but ... is there a way that a table can be created (or imported, e.g. as an excel spreadsheet or some other file type) that can be dynamically sorted in the pdf output? For example, some users will want to sort on device type (to compare devices from the same product family), others on region (to see which devices can be used in different countries), or function support (A, B, both, or none).Thanks either way 🙂

Occasionally in our manuals we need tabloid 11x17 pages in the middle of a chapter. There can be up to 30 in a row. I have my normal pages with their 8.5x11 master pages. I go to create a new master page and make it 11x17 and it makes all of my master pages 11x17. I do not want this. Anyone experience this same problem or have a different approach?Thanks,Dan

I have been messing around with this and searching for an answer for some time now. I have a book made up of various pages. I have a page called "Details." I would like to link a few words on this page to another page located in the book called "Appendix." I have tried Hypertext and cross-reference methods and cannot get them to work. I can hypertext within the same page. For example; if I have the "Details" page open, I can link a word from page 9 to a page 11 heading. My issue is, I cannot get words from page 9 to page 20 to link. I am using FM19 and currently updated to the latest.

I am using FrameMaker 2019. A png image appears in black shades when I use Print Book command and save print in Adobe PDF format. I tried updating, but no resolution found. Previously when I used to publish the document in pdf format, it used to have blanTitle edited by: Barb Binder

We are writing a manual where we need to be able to cross-reference items in our Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC). In the IPC sometimes the figure number and the item are the same but the part number is different. Please see the example. 2 is the Figure Number, 1080 is the item number.We need to be able to reference the Figure Number and Item Number within text of other chapters. The problem is, when we go to use the Cross-Reference pod it will show us multiple Figure Numbers and Item Numbers that are the same (because they are). Is there a way we can make a distinction? Say I just want to cross reference Part Number 65258-07065-101 which has the same Figure and Item as the rest? In the text the cross-reference needs to read (Figure 2, Item 1080).Thank you!

Hello Community,When publishing a document in HTML 5, the output shows downscaled versions of the images within frame maker. The images are PDFs imported into anchored frames and look great when publishing to PDF.What can I do to increase the image quality when publishing to HTML5?Thank you.

I'm working in a FrameMaker-Book.Chapter 1 uses heading1 and in the text for heading1 there is one letter superscripted with a character format "sup".In the Table of Content (TOC) I find the superscripted letter perfectly again, but the hyperlink doesn't work anymore.Exemple:Hello this is my <sup>high</sup> heading1 titleIn TOC I also find the same text correctly again, but from "high" until the end of the line, the hyperlink doesn't work anymore. Neither in FrameMaker nor in the PDF I'm writing.I have tested it with FrameMaker 12 and 13 in the German version and on FrameMaker 7.2 English version.Is there a workaround?

Hello, is it possible to change the program language after installation? If so, how does it work?

I have a document that uses Adobe Garamond Pro, and one paragraph style which calls for angle = italic.The font is not greyed out in the Paragraph designer, and the document displays correctly on screen.When I use Save as PDF, the paragraph with the setting angle = italic is rendered in Courier (or some other typewriter font) with bizarre kerning.What's going on, and how do I correct it? Let me know if you need extra information.

I inherited a document that was created in QuickSilver (which no one seems to have). I converted the resulting PDF to FrameMaker and then reformatted/styled everything. Now we are to the point when Help files are being requested.Apparently, in QuickSilver, you can bookmark sections that automatically generate PDFs of, for example, just pages 2-14. The result was a suite of 200 or so Help files based on snippets of the whole.Does Frame have a similar bookmarking/tagging options to automatically create Help files? Our other option is to just Print to PDF and specify the page range. Doable but not automated.Thanks for the feedback!Meredith

Dear all,In a document are cross references to EndNotes which are paragraphs towards the end of the document. The cross references have a distinct format ("zenref-endnote-reference").I'm able to insert new such references as long as the current location is prior to an already existent such XRef. For this I look for the next XRef starting at the current location.→ But how can I determine that there is no other such XRef after the current location?The Find process just wraps at the end of the flow and finds the first XRef...If oCurrentLoc is the current location and oFoundLoc is the result of the "Find next XRef", how can I determine whether oCurrentloc > oFoundLoc? I want to convert Framemaker files to the Responsive HTML. I want the miniTOC for each chapter to convert to links without a page number reference. I want the same for other cross references-convert to hyperlink without page reference since it is HTML help and not linear.Ken

It works correctly if the target of the XRef is in the same file as the XRef (oDoc == oTgtDoc). I don't see any posts about anything like this, not sure if it's a known bug or if I should report it on Adobe "bugs" page or not.I use FM 2015, up to date as of 7/31/2019, for PC. I find that often even after shrink-wrapping, FM leaves a tad too much space after whatever the final character is in the bounding box, such that when it's placed inline in a paragraph, and a word of text is supposed to follow, the space between the box and the word will be too large. If it truly shrink-wrapped right up to the very edge of the character in the bounding box (say, the way "fit artboard to artwork bounds" sizes an artboard precisely to the boundary of a drawing in Illustrator), then there'd be no problem; a spacebar space could be used with nothing further needed. But b/c this is not the case, I find I often have to grab the right edge of the bounding box, and size it inwards several points, getting it as close to the math character as possible w/out cutting the character off.PROBLEM/GLITCH/or

The content of our application is displayed in a variety of formats, only one of which is a printed page (or PDF equivalent of a printed page). In some formas we want to display the images in their native size and resolution, while in PDF we want to be able to scale the images to an appropriate size.
