Hi all,I don't have access to the maker.ini file in the FrameMaker installation. How can I then register FDK clients?I plan to put my FDK clients in a fminit structure in my document folder.Will a maker.ini file in the same folder also be run at startup?Best Regards,Gunnar Eldevik

Previously on FM8 on Solaris, FM used the structapp.fm file saved in the fminit structure below the folder containing the book files. Is this possible with the current versions on Windows?As far as I understand, FM parses the structapp.fm in the FM installation and in \Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\FrameMaker\<version>\structapps.fmSinse we are a large project  with a lot of people needing to update the same book, we want to avoid having to setup the application on every PC on the network.How can I achieve this?TIA,--Gunnar

Perhaps I'm being daft, but I can't find a solution to this.I'm using FrameMaker and an active Adobe Font (Freight Text Pro). I can't seem to find a way to save it/print my doc as a PDF without having my font replaced automatically.I've rebooted my computer. I've restarted both FrameMaker and Acrobat/Distiller. The font is active, but it doesn't show up in the list of fonts in the Distiller settings.What am I doing wrong?Thank you. I appreciate any help you can give me.Lisa

Has anyone had success adding custom commands to FrameMaker menus and then moving them to different locations on the menu? I can do this with the FDK and FrameScript but I haven't had success with ExtendScript. I am defining a custom command and adding it to the File menu. I want to move it up under the Save As XML command. Can't seem to get a PDF from FM2019 book file.I tried Save as PDF and publish and nothing works—FM crashes every time.Can anyone help, please. Much appreciate it. Chris

I've been needing to upgrade my FM version, but I'm not sure if it's really worth it. I was correcting a document today in German in FM 2015. It had "dass" marked as incorrect. When I right-clicked, it suggested "daß". I double-checked the language. It is indeed set for German. However, "daß" went out of use with the Rechtschreib Reform 2005. Ten years before the release of FM 2015. The correct word IS "dass", so why does FM 2015 mark it as wrong, and suggest a word that has been/was wrong for 10 years before the release of the software? All ss-ß changes that went into effect in 2005 are incorrect in FM 2015. It fails to consider the changes instituted by the German government in their language. So, how can one trust it for correct spelling suggestions in any language? I'm at the index right now and I have no idea on how to create this type of entries.Im talking about the ones, i.e, "Unicomplicated Firewall, See, UFW" UFW is a link but they all goes to the same page in the index.Is it possible to do this in an unstructured book? I just upgraded to Framemaker 2019 and Illustrator version 23 (cloud based subscription). I used to be able to double click a referenced image in FM and it would open in Illustrator. Now it only opens if Illustrator is not open (and the double clicking from FM causes Illustrator to open and open my image.)  I end up either having to close Illustrator after every image edit so I can double click the next one from FM, or i have to be in Illustrator and do File - Open for every image. I just want to be able to double click from FM every time! I'm guessing it's just a setting in either FM or Illustrator but I can't figure it out. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Thank you.

Dear Friends,Again I have probably a weird idea: Add a cross reference in front of a footnote reference which points to that footnote.See the FM document (FM15).The cross reference text to be inserted is just an ellipsis. Then the whole construct (ellipsis + FN reference) will receive a character format to indicate the 'hotspot'.Obviously I'm struggling with finding the stuff (nothing, cross-ref ellipsis, another crossref very far) in front of the FN reference.The script first collects the FN refs of the document in an array, which allows me easy handling them back to front, thus not destroying locations of the FN anchors by inserting the ellipsis XRefs.Most time the script works correctly, but in this test it fails at the FN anchor 3). It finds the ellipsis behind! It seems that the Find in line 67 does not search backwards but forwards.Output of the script in first run:Fn string =5)     XRef is there:falseFn string =4)    oTL.offset=51 oTextItem.offset=2

Hello Community,I cannot find an Inset property that will let me know if a graphic is not being displayed because FM could not find the source. I have the oGraphic.InsetFile property but don't see how to determine if the image is being displayed or not.My task is to create a list of all missing graphics in the document so the user can manually then try to go and reconnect the missing graphic(s) to the AFrame.Thanks in advance!

Hi,I have a document with a few embedded (not referenced) graphics. It contains conditional text, and the STS file is set up to use Dynamic Content Filtering based on this text.When publishing it to HTML5, the output tends to:1. Loose graphics and display gray boxes instead.2. Not include the output filtering option (above the navigation bar)To fix the above, I have to:1. Clear the cache data2. Close and delete the output3. Close and restart FrameMaker4. Edit the STS file to not filter output and save, and then change it back to filter the output and save again.Can someone please help me understand why this happens and if there's a permanent fix?Thanks in advance for your help!Aviva

I have some scripts adapted from the FM_Outputs_CondText.jsx sample in FM10, but I just noticed today that the book is not getting updated. Is there a way in Extendscript to extract the paragraph tags used in the TOC? I see them in the book's MIF as DeriveTag, but I don't see a property or method that would return them.

I have just updated my Framemaker to 15.0.3.603. Since I would like to configure different publishing settings for an online profile and a print profile, I repeatedly enter the Publish menu/pod for this. However, either FM freezes (needs to be restarted) when I try to set the pulldown menu to print, or the program freezes at the latest the second time I try to open this menu in the same session. When an image e.g. icon image, appears in a paragraph or bullet, the indentation gets messed up. The source file is fine if I generate a PDF to check the results are fine but with the Responsive HTML 5, the indentation gets messed up.Examples of html 5:I have tried changing the line spacing but that has not helped. I have tried decreasing the icon image so that it's dimension match the text but that has not worked either.

Over on the Framers email list, a user has reported a rumor that Adobe is going to discontinue support for perpetual licenses for FrameMaker and move to a subscription-only plan, as it has with Creative Cloud. I am creating some Read/Write rules for a structured application. I want to be able to maintain the paragraph style (like in the top of the Paragraph Designer pod) within cells of a table. This is how my structured document already is, but I don't know how to include an attribute in the read/write rules and have looked through countless websites and documents to no success.For example, when saving to XML through my structured application, I would like there to be an attribute in "Note" as shown below:...<CELL>     <Note>Some Text Here</Note></CELL>...The goal here is to complete the XML roundtrip and maintain the formatting of certain tables. The reason that this is necessary is that the first cell has a Warning graphic from the reference page, while the second one has "NOTE" autofilled, then the text from within the "Note" XML tags.I'm really struggling with this, so I would appreciate any help!Thank you,Joseph
