Hi, all.We are using FM 15 in a Windows 10 environment.We use a narrow text column with wide left margin for headings, and try to fit our graphics into the text column. However, sometimes a screenshot needs to extend into the left-hand column. Example:It would be very desirable to be able to set up the file like this:Anchored frame is sized to the figure (not extended on the left as you see above. That is done as part of our compromise with the problem I am describing.)Correctly sized anchored frame is right-aligned when saved to PDF.Anchored frame is left-aligned when published to HTML Help, because we eliminate the header column and put everything flush left.However, the FM 15 Publish conversion settings do not let you change the anchored frame alignment. What you see in the figure above is our middle ground: the figure is right-aligned for PDF output, and when the topic is published to HTML Help, the anchored frame alignment does not change and the resulting topic looks like this:We

Because of a rebranding at our company, we're having to move from the Calibri font to Arial MS Unicode, Arial being the only approved font for the company that contains the glyphs we need (the preferred font, Open Sans, does not have subscript digits).When I changed our font from Calibri to Arial MS Unicode, there was a message about ... something ... changing to double-bitted? that I autoclicked on without thinking about it. This mistake changed all the language settings in the Character and Paragraph Designer to Chinese(Simple) and turned on the Use Asian Composer setting in the Paragraph Designer.Which wasn't an issue, until I discovered that having the Asian Composer turned on was resulting in having an extra space before the TM character (and only the TM character) anytime it is used, resulting in a gap between the trademarked term and the trademarked symbol. I've fixed this by saving everything out to MIF and editing the MIF files, but anytime I create a new Paragraph or Characte

In Frame maker - how to insert the same paragraph in two topics but from two separate maps?

Working in FM 2019 32-bit, structuring my document as a Ditamap with nested topics. Links are going fine. When I write a PDF, the links work correctly (all internal links for the time being).But when I am working in the FM file, I click on my links, yet I can't navigate to the clicked item. I try the "Go to Location" button for a listed link in the Cross References pod, and... nothing.(My structured view indicates that all my elements are syntactically correct.)I've got the same document saved as a Composite FM file. The same phenomenon there: the links seem to be fine, but I can't use them to navigate. How do I navigate around??? thanks

I am using FM 2015 in a Windows 10 environment.I have run into this problem before, but never this bad.I generated a PDF.As per usual, the PDF is formed correctly but FM shows an error message : "FM ran out of memory."I close FM. Every .fm file now has a corresponding .lck file.When I reopen FM, FM tells me the previous session ended badly and asks if I would like to restore it. I say yes. FM crashes.When I reopen FM, say that I do not want to reset the previous session, and attempt to open the book file, FM crashes.If I attempt to open an individual FM file by doubleclicking it in Windows explorer and opening FM with it, FM begins to open and then crashes.If I open FM and then attempt to open an individual FM file from within FM, FM crashes.In the past after I've generated a PDF, I've had trouble with, say, one individual file that I had to rebuild. Hi,I got a trial of Adobe FM 2019 release but failed to install it.I got a license for Adobe FM 2015 release. i don't know whether because the mismatch between the license version and FM software version.my OS is windows 7.Does anybody meet such a question?Thanks a lot.

Hi,The company I work for is considering upgrading to the 2019 version of FrameMaker. We would like to install it on a secure network with no internet connection.In the past, it was possible to activate FrameMaker without the internet, but according to the FAQ for FrameMaker 2019 this is no longer possible.Can someone confirm if that is correct?If FrameMaker 2019 can't be activated without the internet, what is the most recent version of FrameMaker that can?ThanksDaniel

My company purchased a Framemaker license for me and I received the link to download the application and so far I've run into two issues that have prevented me from completing the download and installation of the application:1) When I attempted to download the package using the Adobe link that was sent upon purchase, I think the company firewall intercepted the download and wouldn't allow me to install. One of the IT representatives was able to download the application in his computer and transfer the file to my computer.2) When I attempted to install the package on my company computer, I got a blank pop-up with 'undefined' appearing after awhile in the pop-up.3) I attempted to install the software on a computer outside the organization to see if the issue was caused by my company security settings, or if the file sent by Adobe is corrupt. I'm having the exact same issue with Framemaker and the way I see it, if Adobe cannot come up with a patch to allow their programs to work with Windows 10, they are going to lose a lot of business since everyone is being forced to switch to Windows 10...am I right?

Hi,I tried installing Adobe FrameMaker 64 bit first and then and 32 bit 30 days trial version.While extracting files from Installer, I am getting Error 183 (try installing again).I already tried installing again several times.Previously, I installed in another laptop and it was working fine.Now installing on second laptop, getting this issue.My trial period is still not over, 10 days remaining.My laptop has Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, Core i7 Processor, 8GB RAM.Please help.Thank you,Harinder Singh

Hi, Can anyone get me jsx coding to open bunch of files in Framemaker?

Had a few questions in regards to converting a DITA map to pdf with FrameMaker 2019.Trying to build custom templates with our corporate branding.On our technical publications the master footer would include the title of the book.How would you do this in DITA?Can drive down to structure/xml/DITA1.3 /app/technicalContent/template and change the master pages for the topic, concept, etc...but seems like I need to be a level above this. Like I need to set a global file for all pages that would feed the book information in the footer, perhaps by metadata or something. Not understanding this.When I use the PDF publish feature it spits out a cover page, the template which I modified with our company logo at structure/xml/DITA/outputTemplates. This is a great start, but how would I go about populating this bookTitle page with xml information, like the specific book we're working on, cover image, etc. It's like I had wanted to use the outputTemplate file as a master page that I write over the to

I am running unstructured FM 2017 in a Windows environment and am fully patched.My Adobe Distiller has stopped working and will no longer generate a PDF.I have tried Print to PDF, Save as PDF, and Save as TPS with no success.Any help would be appreciated.

My graphics looked fine in output before, but after adding rectangle hotspots for interactivity, the output graphics are noticably blurry.Are there any hidden settings that control this?The output options have been set to Default Format: (As Is), and JPG Quality 100.I copied the graphic so I have the same one with and without hotspots, and hotspots are definitely the cause.

How can I prevent this from happening?I exported an image from Adobe Illustrator to PNG.  Then I imported it by reference into Frame.  Then I saved it as PDF, then I printed it.On paper the image is printed about the size of postage stamp.  In FrameMaker, the image is 672 pt high...about the entire height of the page.

I installed TCS 2019 yesterday. Captivate, RoboHelp, Acrobat all launch successfully. However, FrameMaker fails to launch and I get a FrameMaker.exe - Application Error message stating "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000013). Click OK to close the application." Has anyone seen this before and found a solution?I'm running Windows 7 SP1 on an i7 laptop, 16 GB of RAM, 200+ GB of disk space available. I've checked Java to make sure I'm running JRE 8; I am. I have not removed TCS 2015 and don't want to until I know I can run the new version. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the FrameMaker component of TCS 2019 several times with no success.Thanks!

Since updating to FrameMaker 2019, I have had a problem with random chapter bookmarks being omitted when saving a .book file as a PDF.My workaround has been to remove the problem chapters from the .book file, save copies of a non-problem chapter using the filenames of each problem chapter, copy/paste their contents into the copies, then import the copies into the .book file.When I save the .book as a new PDF, all bookmarks are present. (Lower-level bookmarks have so far not had this issue.) These are files created in FrameMaker 2015. The problem did not occur until after the software update.Does anyone have a theory as to what is causing this?

Hi everyone, I'm having a problem with conditional text in HTML5 output from (non-structured) FM 2017. I'm using conditional text quite effectively to produce PDFs (File > Save as PDF). The output is always based on the visible text in the editor, as I would expect. As I change visibility of conditional tags, the content changes correctly, and the output includes only what I can see. However, when I try the same approach to produce HTML (File > Publish > Responsive HTML5 > Generate Selected Output) using a configured STS file, all text from all conditional tags is always included. Obviously, this is not what I want. Adjusting the selected conditional tags and visibilities in the current book makes no difference. I tried this against the book file and the individual FM files. So, I did some investigation yesterday, and read this thread: FM12: Conditional text and Publish to Microsoft HTML Help This seemed to indicate that there was an issue with the STS file I am using.

I have a Framemaker book that gives numerous Unresolved cross-reference error messages when I try to create a TOC.  The errors appear to be related to figure numbers where I inserted images.

I'm using Frame 2017 unstructured and have noticed tick marks (faint periods) in some of my table cells after converting to PDF. It turns out that those marks are green paragraph tags in FrameMaker. How can I get rid of green paragraph marks - turn them black?

Since yesterday I cannot generate pdf using "Save as PDF.."Iv'e tried different .fm an .book files. Individual .fm files work fine but saving book files as pdf FM crashes.While Distiller does run, it aborts after a few hundred pages and the only output is a large tps file.I tried troubleshooting the tps file according to Troubleshoot PostScript errors  but the PostScript error is  "%%[Error: ; OffendingCommand: ]%% , i.e. nothing to go on.Does anyone know why this can be happening? or how to use the find the problem in the tps file?Thanks!
