FrameMaker

In an earlier Frame version, it was easy to copy/paste a table to an Outlook message and preserve the table format, with a simple copy/paste. This is no longer possible in Frame 19: it copies the table as plain text, it does not preserve the table or bullets, etc. I set Outlook Format Text to HTML, and still no go. I recently upgraded from Frame 15 to Frame 19.

Admit I've probably made a stupid mistake or accidentally click on a shortcut but, having editied an Unstructured Framemaker document successfully for over an hour, something changed and now, whenever I enter new text, it appears in Batang font, rather than the font used in the defined styles. This occurs regardless of the paragraph or character style selected.Any suggestions?

I have to create 500+ pdf books for some automotive documentation.. Each PDF is having little bit changes compared with other pdf. I want to keep one single framemaker to generate all pdf files. If i am creating each framemaker files for each book..in updation it make so many work loads even though the changed content is  common to all pdf's...So let me know is there any way to generate multiple pdf by single framemaker..

HiI'm working with DITA and I would like to have a list of acronyms and abbreviations added to my book (save ditamap as book with fm components). I have learned that if I use Indexterm elements I can have a pretty nice list of these in Index page. But I feel that this is not the right way to do it.I found also glossentry-file (or glossgroup for several entries) where I can have the acronyms and also the long term and with abbreviated-form element it should be possible to get automatically the acronym or the long one to the topics. But here comes the problem.I don't know how to refer to this glossgroup, when adding to ditamap and then in topics with abbreviated-form. I have searched from web but I don't understand where these href, keyref and keys values are coming from. I have ID for the glossgoup and I guess that ID should be href or kref, but what are the others?If glossgroup is used is there a possibility to get the list of used acronyms and abbreviations with the explanations added

Hello all,I've an issue where the TOC entries in a generated .pdf are being truncated.  So far, I've played around a bit with page layout and text frame size as well as tab stops but no luck.  Here is a composite showing a screenshot from FM and one from Adobe reader.  Note how the chapter/page is not showing in reader.Thanks in advance.regards,Ben

We would like to change the formatting of the Note. We are able to update and save the font for the note itself, but not the word "Note." Is this possible?

Hello,I use FrameMaker 10 with one of my clients and he wants me to use the same fonts as the original Pdf.For most of the fonts it's ok, But when I create the Pdf on my computer I have The "Helvetica-BoldOblique" (Type 1) missing.It seems to be replaced by "Helvetica, BoldItalic" (True Type).Please can you tell me how to fix this ?PS : I do have Helvetica-BoldOblique  installed.ThanksBonjour, J'utilise  FrameMaker 10 avec un de mes clients et il tient à ce que j'utilise le même Polices que sur le pdf original.La pluspart des polices sont ok. I'm trying to generate Responsive HTML5 through FM 12 (without RH). Does anyone know if there's a way to disable the glossary and index? Will I have to dig into the code, or is there a function in FM that lets you stop it from being generated?

I'm using FrameMaker 2019 and I'm encountering a strange issue. When I generate the TOC for my book, all entries in the TOC are duplicated, meaning the elements are listed properly and then they are all listed again. The first set of entries includes right tab top and leaders, then immediately following this, everything is listed again, this time without the leaders or tab stop.The only thing that I can think of that might be related is that I recently started getting unavailable font errors every time I update the book. TO remedy this, I had to replace courier with courier new in my template. I don't see how the two could be related, but its also a recent problem.I'll continue to troubleshoot it, but if anyone can think of a reason as to why this might be happening, I'd appreciate it.

Using DITA XML, I'd like to put a table within a table. Framemaker tells me, I'm not allowed to do:But the DITA Specification tells me, a table within a table is allowed:What did I miss?Or is the DITA XML Integration in FM 2019 incomplete?

I'd like to publish DITA-XML files using a customized DITA-OT PDF-Plugin.This is what I've done already:Create a customized DITA-OT PDF-Plugin (called myPlugin) using http://dita-generator.elovirta.com​Integrate myPlugin into the DITA-OT.Try to publish a Test.xml file via the command line. -> It works. Try to publish the same file via FrameMaker 2019. -> It doesn't work.The log file tells me:BUILD FAILED%DITA_DIR%\build.xml: "myPlugin" is not a recognized transformation type. I am using FrameMaker 12. I have a manual that contains several code examples, for example source code snippets, scripts, commands, etc. When I create my PDF, the text looks fine, but then I have had feedback from users that when they copy the text from the PDF to for example Notepad ++, certain hyphens disappear.Example: "http-remoting" becomes "httpremoting" when copied. I have tried using the command Esc n s to make it into a non-breaking hyphen, but that does not seem to work. In Paragraph Designer, the Hyphenate check box is not checked for this paragraph tag.Any ideas how I could solve this problem?

How to convert older Framemaker files to newer Framemaker 2019.

In MS Word 2003 & similarly in 2007 I can easily use "Format | Borders and Shading" to quickly apply background shading to any selected text. This is extremely handy for emphasizing key phrases in certain types of sales documents. FrameMaker doesn't have an equivalent feature and I always hate having to revert back to MS Word when I need this feature. I have posted a 'Feature Request' and would like to invite as many of you as possible to do likewise to increase our prospects for eventually getting this feature. I always use paragraph & character styles and it would seem trivial for FrameMaker to add this feature with all the capabilities they already have. I currently use FM 8.04 and have been using FM for about 18 years and sure would like to see this feature in a future release. So can any of you help spread the word? Thanks.

I am able to adjust the formatting for both the bullet and text separately using the tab stops in the Ruler. However, I have added a different Bullet 2 type to be used and can't adjust the text separately as there is no tab stop unless I click Tab. However, this doesn't apply the changes to all other Bullet 2 types, even when click Update Style. We need to be able to save the formatting with the text appropriately spaced out, like Bullet 1, so that every time we add that bullet type, the appropriate spacing appears.

Update: It looks like it's only one file that's not tracking changes. Any ideas?Hi all,I'm trying to turn Track Text Edits on, but when I do, I don't notice it doing anything. I keep geting this error when working in FrameMaker 2019, Win7 - 64 bit. I can't figure out what is wrong. I can make it go away for a short time by doing a "mif wash" but the trouble comes back soon. Has anybody experienced this?

I can make themm go away for a short time by saving to mif, and reopening and saving as fm, but the errors keep coming back a bit later. Hello fellows,I have a registered event extendscript that is normally triggered upon opening a MIF file. The script automatically saves the MIF file in a certain location, closes the MIF and opens the FM file. Surprisingly, when publishing HTML5, the script is triggered, both when the publisher tries to retrieve the styles used in the book files and when running the conversion to HTML5. There is no way to stop script execution/publisher except for killing Framemaker. Does Framemaker save files as MIF when trying to map FM styles to HTML and when converting to HTML5? Sounds like a bug to me.Thanks for your input in advance!
