FrameMaker

Using FrameMaker 2017 (version 14.0.4.512), when a table row or cell entry is tagged as a conditional entry,and "show condition indicators" is on, a crosshatch pattern is applied to the interior border of the row or cell.Unfortunately, the crosshatch pattern is very thick. I seek the ability to reduce the thickness of the crosshatch pattern.Is this possible?  If so, how is this achieved? I still want to show the condition indicator.  I just want to modify it.

Hey BarbSo I couldn't find any subjects that talk about this but I have recently installed Adobe FrameMaker 2019 on my machine and a few others in my group and a couple of us are missing the "Next Page" arrow at the bottom where the pages are identified.  As you can see the back arrow is there (next to 16), but not the forward arrow.  I can not find a setting for this and was wondering if I just needed to copy some .ini files from a user whose button is there or is this an install issue??  Its not a huge issue but I was just curious if you had seen this before.  Thank you for your help.

Does anybody know why opening .dita with extend script takes much longer than the same operation manually. Can you suggest right parameters as i will overcome unnecessary stages during opening.I get some issues - for example:DITA+FM ERROR: Unable to locate referenced topic id: #id173KA60D03A/id185MM0L05HS but I'm not sure that this might be the reason of delay.Thank you in advance.

Maybe this belongs in the Illustrator forum, but I thought that I would check here first.I'm working with FrameMaker 2017 (version 14.0.4.511). I usually insert Illustrator files directly into Illustrator. When I want to edit an Illustrator file, I click one and then press Esc > i > l to open the file in Illustrator. Adobe pushed an update to Illustrator a few days ago (I think it's version 23.0). Anyway, when I try opening an Illustrator file from FrameMaker, Illustrator opens, but the file does not. Is anyone else seeing the same problem that I am?Update:I uninstalled the most recent version of Illustrator and installed the one that I had yesterday. Now, I am seeing an error every time that I try opening the Illustrator file from FrameMaker.

Hello all,I have what is hopefully a simple question. I'm using FrameMaker 2017 and authoring new DITA documents.I have a ditamap with dita files in it. I have some cross-references between files. I renamed one of my dita files, removed the old named file from the ditamap and added the new named file to the ditamap.Obviously, cross-references to the old named file broke. When I select the Edit > Update References command, I get the familiar "Update Unresolved Cross-references" dialog, and proceed to fix the cross-reference in the same way I used to with unstructured FrameMaker. And it seems to work because the top of the dialog box states "0 unresolved cross-references". However, when I then save the file that includes the cross-reference and then re-open it, the cross-reference is still broken. I see that the fm-xref's "href" is still pointing to the old file. Is there a way to fix broken cross-references, other than manually?Thanks!

Here is my workflow:Create a concept or reference topicIn Author or WYSIWYG view, click Insert table.Specify a table geometry, say 3 columns by 6 rows.Click the element dropdown: only simpletable is available as an optionCreate the table. Switching to XML view, it is indeed a simpletable.Back in Author view or WYSIWYG mode, select adjacent cells in the same row and merge (straddle them). Do the same for two adjacent cells in the same column. This seems to work, butSwitching to XML view and examining the table, it is still a simpletable, and all Framemaker did was delete stentry elements from strows.I see discussion of CALS tables in the Help, but no description of how to create them.Coding them by hand in XML view is not an appealing option. Can someone explain what I'm doing wrong?Thanks

I have certain formats that are being lost after I save a file. More specifically, I have checkboxes that are one size, I save, exit, open it back up, and they're a different size. I can't get them to stay constant. It's an element imported from an EDD; should I import the EDD again to see if that works?

Hi All,I like to import only some variables from an old FM template file to a new one.The SimpleImport function is not accurate as all variables of the source old FM template file will be imported.With this function, no filters may be set to define which variables must be imported or not.I am able to get TextRange string of a source variable but do not find any solution to copy it as TextRange value of the same variable (var.VarFmt.Name) in the new FM template file.Is it possible to copy an applicable variable definition between two files with FM scripting?What is(are) the function(s) to use?JM

I had dot net 4.6.1 installed but the trial for Framemaker 2019 would not install. I tried to install 4.72 and it uninstalled my 4.6.1 and crashed and deleted all my restore points!So I assume it needs a version above 4.6.1?

Hi all,I am trying to import a customized docbook into FrameMaker.I set up structured application, read-write-rules, EDD succesfully.When I open the XML, it asks for the structured app. to use, and opens as a single .xml file.But I discovered I have to do some XSLT pre-processing, to convert the content of an element to attribute of the parent element. I wrote the xsl conversion, and added it to the structured application for PreProcessing.But now there is no question for the structured app. to use, XML opens as an .fm project, splitting each chapter to a different book, and converting my element names to CamelCase.Why is this change happening? Maybe the DOCTYPE is lost in XSLT?Where can I investigate the intermediate xml created after the XSLT pre-processing?

How can I export the text on an image in Framemaker or Adobe pdf?  I have have the image in both formats.

Hello.I recently started using FrameMaker 2017 and have been playing with the Responsive HTML5 output. After only changing the default settings (STS file) for the header color and logo image, I have noticed a number of discrepancies between the Save as PDF output and the Responsive HTML5 output (multiple layouts):Out-of-document hyperlinks are blue but not functioningOne table is rendered as an image (and the table is numbered as Table b b)Source:Output:Figure numbering is off (multiple Figure 1-1s in the same chapter)This is just what I have noticed after a couple of minutes of playing around...Any advice would be appreciated.JayMessage was edited by: Jay Abramoff

My top level is DOC. Inside that I have BODY, and inside that I have my chapters. The first one is now showing up in the structure as BOOK-COMPONENT. How do I get it back to being a chapter?

Hi,Is there any tool (FrameMaker plug-in) similar to the Clean Import tool that enables you to import a FM new template to an existing book and map tags to the new template tags? And also, delete the old template tags and not append to the existing tags.Is the Clean Import tool available for download now?Thanks!

I am trying to save a Frame Maker file (14) into a pdf but I cannot do it in RGB.I can only save using CYMB format and my colors get messed up.It happens I do not have Adobe Distiller which I think is the problem.Do I haveto purchase Adobe DC in order to get Adobe Distiller or is there any way to get this software somewhere else?

Hi All, I'm developing a book in FrameMaker, and I have an insert to put in between pages 12 and 13. The page numbers of the insert are 12A and 12B, and then I want the document to resume numbering at 13. Currently I am using the pagenum feature from Insert>Headers & Footers>Page Number. However, after pages 12A and 12B, the page number feature numbers the next page as page 15.... how do I get it to resume counting at 13?Thanks!

Hi there,We are using FrameMaker 11 to manage a set of user manuals, more than 5000 pages in total. With the accessibility requirement, the user manuals are required to pass the full accessibility check with Acrobat Pro. We tested many times but a couple of checks always fail, as shown in the report below.Some issues can be resolved in Acrobat; however, it's too difficult to do this for documents of 5000+ pages, and for each monthly release. For example, Issue #3 (figure alt text), we can add alt text for figures in FrameMaker. #1 and #2 are related to links and cross-references, don't know how to resolve it.Could you give some suggestions to resolve these issues efficiently with Acrobat? Or better, resolve it in FrameMaker, once and for all? Thank you in advance.
