After working without a problem for over eight hours on files in the same directory, I receive the following message when I try to save a file: FrameMaker can't create a new file for writing

Why is FM crashing when I try to access the Preferences?I am trying to change the Spelling features and cannot access them.If I open the Spelling pod > Options, FM also crashes.I get the following message:

Using FrameMaker 2017 Structured Application S1000D_description_401 HOW do you enter the fm.title so that it is "Figure 1 (Sheet 1 of 10"?

I opened my documents and got a warning message, "Document named Chapter 2.fm uses unavailable fonts.  To reformat the document using available fonts, click ok." This same document now produces a .pdf file with white boxes instead of equals signs in my equations.  It also changes a few other symbols to white boxes.  I am not sure if these two things are linked but I would like help getting rid of the white boxes and getting my equations back to normal. 

It's horrible, the download never ends!it pauses alone, it resumes from scratch it never ends!Is there another way to download FrameMaker than the Akamai Downloader channel?

Hello forum.i am a new user of framemaker since may2017. I have little skill  with VBA and javascript but not professionnal  .with my new job i receive every month documentantion from manufacturer and we custumize them.So each month we copy the manufacturer file with new template and import them in our books.but before importing i have to swap the manufacturer logo of the book by my compagny logo and some more minor modifications.as this task is repetitive i think i could do it with extendscripti send a zip file on adobe cloud with  a sample framemaker book i made and the script i wrote during the last 2 weeks with tips i found on internet.the script open all files in a folder  and that all. i didin't find anything about how to change logo on the reference pageFOR THE MAIN PROBLEM i need your help to swap the logo. i put in the zip file à new sample logo for the test.if you have 5 minutes more but not necessary if your time is precious you can answer to the 3 minor

I clicked Edit Settings for Responsive HTML5. I opened the Edit Layout button and changed Show Glossary to false. However, when I publish the help, the glossary tab still displays. How do I remove the glossary tab? I am using FrameMaker 2015 on Windows 7.Thanks,Chris

Hello fellows,I've imported an SLZ file through the FM Publisher HTML5 Settings dialog and I set the following to False:Show IndexShow GlossaryShow FilterShow Search Results in...When I compile the HTML5, the layout still includes all these elements. I can't figure out why the layout settings are ignored by the publisher. Any ideas? I did the same in Robohelp, and the settings are treated as expected. I guess there is some nasty bug in the publisher. Thanks in advance!

I’ve been using structured (DITA1.2) FM11 w RH10 about five years with no issues until mid Dec where it crashed for one of 3 versions. The largest ditamap crashed, FM runs out of memory or generates No Topics. Nearly 900 Topics. All elements are valid. I took the entire ditamap and published each section at a time hoping to find the breaking point but each section publishes successfully. When I comment out one section, section X, the entire help except for section X generates. When I comment out everything except for section X, section X generates  help. Have I reached a file size limit? Are my settings off, could I have clicked a controlor flipped a flag somewhere?I had TCS2017 on the shelf, and I upgraded and it will generate the help in section but not the entire file. Adobe Support suspects a file in the ditamap is corrupt but that can’t be the case because all of the files work when I publish the files in smaller sections. I am applying a new template to an already established template that has a catalog of paragraph tags. Is there a way to map the existing tags to the new paragraph tags in the new template after I've applied it to the document?

Hi all,I suppose something in the read/write rules has changed, but before digging into the issue I thought I'd ask the forum.We have migrated from FM2015 to 2017 and now images in paragraphs display very small. As you can see in the screenshot, this image is about 50pt wide but the size properties are ignored. Manual resizing is lost when the file is saved. Any ideas?

Having a thorny issue in FrameMaker 12 (unStructured). My F9 key to bring up the Paragraph Format pop-up no longer works. Indeed, my keyboard stopped working in Frame entirely. I've tried making sure the CAPSLOCK key is off, the F-lock key is in the right state, the document is not locked, rebooted, uninstalled / reinstalled Frame. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

In previous versions of FrameMaker, when you configure bookmarks in the PDF Setup dialog on the Print dialog, using Adobe PDF as the printer, it remembers the bookmarks the next time you print. Frame 9 seems to forget the bookmark settings. Or am I missing something that I now have to do in Frame 9?

When I produce PDF with Framemaker, the paragraph text in PDF are cut off by lines. Because when I copy paragraphs from produced PDF and pasted those paragraphs in Notepad, paragraph text lines are cut off.Is there a solution for this?I remember that with Indesign, I can chect "Create tagged PDF" to prevent paragraph text in produced PDF being cut off.

This is not a behavior that happens when I create a brand new FM 2017 document but in a legacy UNSTRUCTURED FM document that was created years ago probably with TCS 5. I'm currently using FM 2017 on a Windows 10 PC.When I import (via File>Import>File) the same Illustrator AI image by inserting my cursor in different parts of the document (i.e., when the image is anchored in different paragraph styles) I get images of different sizes.I'm pretty sure this behavior is somehow linked to the way different para styles are configured in my document but since there are not image-related variables/settings in Para Designer, I have no idea why this is happening and what I need to do to import AI images at their original (or fitting-in-column) sizes.Please see the images attached for your convenience. Hello fellows,I have a strange issue with figure captions defined in Framemaker as having a line under the caption ("Frame Below Pgf" property) . This line is retrieved from a frame on the reference page. The caption is set to appear above the figure. In the Publisher, the figure caption style is set to "Use Source Style". When I convert FM to HTML5, the figure caption is turned into <p class="FigureTitle">. The problem is that in the HTML output the figure caption is "split" into 2 <p> - the caption text itself, then comes the figure and then comes another <p class="FigureTitle"> that only contains the line itself (turned into a jpg). I can't figure out how to avoid splitting <p class="FigureTitle"> into two and keep the line below the caption itself. Unfortunately, the caption cannot be mapped to a corresponding HTML tag in the Publisher as there is no relevant tag in the Pgf mapper. Any ideas?Thanks! 

I've just upgraded from FM12 to FM 2017 with intent to utlize some of the new HTML publishing features. I have been publishing content from DITA source to HTML5 from FM12 successfully for some time now.In FM 2017, I have a very basic DITA Bookmap with only 2 short topics as a simple test setup. Every time I try to publish anything to HTML5 or simple HTML, FM has a hard crash and generates no output.I tried these same files on my other machine that hasn't been upgraded yet and they publish just fine.Any idea why FM2017 is crashing every time (100% without fail) I click Publish? Is there some step I'm missing in FM2017? This is a brand new, clean installation and all available updates have been installed.Thank you in advance for your help!

According to Adobe's site at http://www.adobe.com/se/products/framemaker/cms-integration.html, FrameMaker doesn't support integration with Sharepoint at later versions than 2013 and since we have Sharepoint 2016 in our organization, this is an issue.I tried emailing the contact person on that site, and got rerouted to a representativ that said they didn't officially supported SharePoint 2016 but it "should ideally work" and I could try it out if I wanted and let them know if that wasn't the case.Since we are in the process of evaluating different document processors (FrameMaker is one), we don’t want to validate compatibility - we need to know if SharePoint 2016 is planned to be supported as a CMS for FrameMaker in the near future. We don't want to learn later on that Adobe's support for SharePoint integration ended with version 2013.

Hello:I have been having problems all day trying to get some photos into my FM document but the application keeps "bombing out" on me; that is, it either hangs and reports back an Internal Error 8004, 6345644, 8487696 message or the application completely closes. I want to import the photos by reference rather than copy them but nothing seems to be working for me. I've tried importing the files as .JPEG and .PNG formats without success so far. Each photo is ~3565KB in size.I searched the forum for this particular error message but most of the comments had to do with PDF files and they don't apply to my situation (I even changed the printer to Adobe PDF before I began importing the files without any noticeable improvement).System details:Dell Vostro with Intel Core2 @ 2.40GHz and 3.25 GB RAMphotos from a 10 MP Canon camera (saved as both .JPEG and .PNG files)FrameMaker v8.0p277Windows XPIs it a matter of available system memory or is it something I might be doing in the import process?

Hi Folks, I'm using FM 2017 Release (unstructured) and am encountering problems with the Save as command being grayed out. I opened a legacy FM9 document and after modifying it wanted to Save as [a new file name] but it would only allow me to Save, not Save as a new filename. Any ideas??I'm referring to the normal Save as command, not Save as PDF or any of the other commands all of which seem to work as expected.The problem occurs with some files but not with others. I thought perhaps that this was a problem with  legacy FM files but other legacy files worked just fine. I also tried first saving the legacy file in the current format (normal Save command works) but still cannot Save as...-Steve MurphyP.S. Greetings to old friends. I've been away from the FM community for a full ten years; finally sprung for the current release... but this is a problem!

Hello. Here is a strange problem ... I am using FM 2015 in a Win 10 environment.My document uses cross-reference formats that sometimes include a page number variable. This cross-reference setup:<Hyperlink>Figure\ <$paranumonly> on page\ <$pagenum><Default Para Font>produces this cross-reference in the .fm file:For online help, I want only the figure number with no page number. In the Publish Settings/Style Mapping options, I select <$paranum> only:The result consistently appends empty spaces to the link. I can't figure out where they are coming from. (This problem does not occur when I convert my HeadingPage formats, which follow almost the exact same pattern.)I would think the spaces come from the spaces in the cross-reference format (like the space between "on" and "page") but, as I say, the same result does not occur with my HeadingPage conversion.All suggestions welcome. Hello. I am using FM 2015 in a Win 10 environment.I had an .sts file that was working pretty well to convert FM output to HTML Help.Now it has forgotten what it knew (it has lost the settings). Our PDF template uses a side column with right-aligned headers; our help output has one text column and headings should be left-aligned.  I set up the alignment using the "Block" setting.Now that seems to have been erased from the .sts file (along with everything else) and when I select H1, for example, and click the Edit Style button, nothing happens. Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks.
