According to Adobe's site at http://www.adobe.com/se/products/framemaker/cms-integration.html, FrameMaker doesn't support integration with Sharepoint at later versions than 2013 and since we have Sharepoint 2016 in our organization, this is an issue.I tried emailing the contact person on that site, and got rerouted to a representativ that said they didn't officially supported SharePoint 2016 but it "should ideally work" and I could try it out if I wanted and let them know if that wasn't the case.Since we are in the process of evaluating different document processors (FrameMaker is one), we don’t want to validate compatibility - we need to know if SharePoint 2016 is planned to be supported as a CMS for FrameMaker in the near future. We don't want to learn later on that Adobe's support for SharePoint integration ended with version 2013.
Hello:I have been having problems all day trying to get some photos into my FM document but the application keeps "bombing out" on me; that is, it either hangs and reports back an Internal Error 8004, 6345644, 8487696 message or the application completely closes. I want to import the photos by reference rather than copy them but nothing seems to be working for me. I've tried importing the files as .JPEG and .PNG formats without success so far. Each photo is ~3565KB in size.I searched the forum for this particular error message but most of the comments had to do with PDF files and they don't apply to my situation (I even changed the printer to Adobe PDF before I began importing the files without any noticeable improvement).System details:Dell Vostro with Intel Core2 @ 2.40GHz and 3.25 GB RAMphotos from a 10 MP Canon camera (saved as both .JPEG and .PNG files)FrameMaker v8.0p277Windows XPIs it a matter of available system memory or is it something I might be doing in the import process?
I did a bilingual document, I created two colums with two textflow (A for English on Left Side, and B, for French, on Right Side). Now I need to generate 2 separate tables of content ; Table of Content of A Part (English) Table of Content of B Part (French) How should I proceed?
Hi Folks, I'm using FM 2017 Release (unstructured) and am encountering problems with the Save as command being grayed out. I opened a legacy FM9 document and after modifying it wanted to Save as [a new file name] but it would only allow me to Save, not Save as a new filename. Any ideas??I'm referring to the normal Save as command, not Save as PDF or any of the other commands all of which seem to work as expected. The problem occurs with some files but not with others. I thought perhaps that this was a problem with legacy FM files but other legacy files worked just fine. I also tried first saving the legacy file in the current format (normal Save command works) but still cannot Save as...-Steve MurphyP.S. Greetings to old friends. I've been away from the FM community for a full ten years; finally sprung for the current release... but this is a problem!
Hello. Here is a strange problem ... I am using FM 2015 in a Win 10 environment. My document uses cross-reference formats that sometimes include a page number variable. This cross-reference setup:<Hyperlink>Figure\ <$paranumonly> on page\ <$pagenum><Default Para Font>produces this cross-reference in the .fm file:For online help, I want only the figure number with no page number. In the Publish Settings/Style Mapping options, I select <$paranum> only:The result consistently appends empty spaces to the link. I can't figure out where they are coming from. (This problem does not occur when I convert my HeadingPage formats, which follow almost the exact same pattern.)I would think the spaces come from the spaces in the cross-reference format (like the space between "on" and "page") but, as I say, the same result does not occur with my HeadingPage conversion. All suggestions welcome. I'll simply create parallel xrefs and put conditions on them for the different ou
Hello. I am using FM 2015 in a Win 10 environment.I had an .sts file that was working pretty well to convert FM output to HTML Help. Now it has forgotten what it knew (it has lost the settings). Our PDF template uses a side column with right-aligned headers; our help output has one text column and headings should be left-aligned. I set up the alignment using the "Block" setting. Now that seems to have been erased from the .sts file (along with everything else) and when I select H1, for example, and click the Edit Style button, nothing happens. Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks.
I received an FM12 book and source files from co-workers overseas (who may be using a Japanese version of FM12 that's different from my US version). The auto-numbering feature in FM12 is unstable (as confirmed by Adobe Technical Support), If I import the files into FM2017, can they be downgrade saved back to FM12 after editing? Thank You in advance for your assistance.
Hi,I have a 3 versions of Adobe. Tech. Comm. Suite on my computer. I removed the oldest bundle (3.5) due to lack of disk space...but then realized that bundle included the ONLY copy of Photoshop I have! Do you know if it's possible to only install Photoshop from that bundle???? I looked at my account's download page and there's only a link to download the bundle, not each software program separately. I need it desperately...
I am running TechComm Suite 2017 and want to try out the Ocean and Indigo theme but where are they? I have only acces to Azure... Can they be downloaded somewhere?Best regardsBjørn
Hi, all.I am working in FrameMaker 2015 in Windows 10.The Conditional Tags pod has mysteriously disappeared. When I select text and select Special/Conditional tags, nothing happens. When I select View/Pods/Conditional Tags, nothing happens. Either way, I can't display the pod that allows me to select a condition and apply it. The files I am working in do contain conditional text, which has been successfully applied in the past. The Show/Hide Conditional Text pod lists all four conditions that my documents contain. I've selected Show Condition Indicators, and the text that has had conditions applied is being displayed correctly. I vaguely recall this happening once before. What is going on?Thanks.
Hello to everyone, first of all: I am pretty new to FM and ExtendScript. I am integrating some old .mif files into existing FM documents with ExtendScript.I am loading the needed parameters via propVal and using the method doc.Import().Importing these .mif files works properly, but correctly aligning them is causing difficulties because I am not able place the files whereever I want.As far as I see, there is no obvious ability to create and place a new pgf object in some specific place in the doc.If that would be possible, before importing a .mif file, I certainly would create a new pgf object and import the .mif file right into it.Is there a possibility to accomplish this, or do you guys know a better way to do so?Thanks and king regards
Using Framemaker 2017I would like to generate a mini toc but have it appear with a different master page from what the body pages were created from.Provided that the "text flow frame" is named the same as the body pages, once generated could the MTOC be copied or moved to a different page (with a different master page)? Or can it only live within the same text flow as the body page from which it was generated?
In FrameMaker 12, when I click on a graphic inside an anchored frame the program goes into a half minimised, half broken view. When I try to click on the tools they tend to not be exactly where you click. Any ideas how to fix this?
I'm on Windows 10, using Frame 2017 and Acrobat DC.I have a Word doc that contains one line in Mangal Unicode font. I distill it to a PDF and it looks fine.I open the Word doc in Frame 2017. Line looks fine. I distill it to a PDF and the font reverts to boxes because the font has been substituted with Times Roman. So I tried copying the line into Illustrator, distill it, PDF is fine.I'm using the same Distiller options on all 3.Why is it not distilling properly from Frame?
Hello there!Table tags are not consistently used in my book. I want to apply a specific table tag for all the tables in my book. Is there any quickest way to search for all tables and apply the table tag to all?NOTE:I already have table tags created.I use FM 12I know that I can select Any Table in the Find field. How to apply the table tag for all at once? Many Thanks,Avani
While I was relieved that this new version resolved a long-standing bug in v. 2015, now there's a more egregious error in v. 2017. When I open a v. 2015 or Frame 11 file in v. 2017, virtually ALL markers - hypertext, cross-reference, index, you name it - are GONE!! This is completely unacceptable. How are we supposed to deal with our archival files moving forward with this new version? Has anyone found a solution to this problem? I've tried opening files and importing files, and both have the same result - no markers!
How can we activate FM10 offline on our Windows Terminal Server? We don't have internet-access on the server. Thanks for help in advance!
I created a book, added files, made corrections to them and then saved the book. Now all I see is the book on the left with no files. When I try to create a TOC it says add files. Where did the files disappear? I am using the 2015 trial version
Is there a way to add a Canadian English dictionary to FrameMaker 2015 and 2017? Neither the US English or UK English dictionaries provided with both versions are adequate as Canadian English is a hybrid of both US and UK English. We spell some words like in the UK and others like in the US. I have seen some evidence that earlier versions of FrameMaker (before version 9) did have a Canadian English dictionary. If this was removed, is there any way to bring it back or find a Canadian English dictionary that can be installed as a default in FrameMaker 2015 and 2017 instead of US or UK English? I have successfully changed looks of topics, tasks etc,. with following instructions in the site below:[Guest Post] “Customize FrameMaker 2015 DITA Templates for your Corporate Design” by Bernard Aschwanden – TechComm Centr… However, when I save a whole document as PDF (The top tag is bookmap), the all the changes I made for the templates are discarded.I edited the following templates in a same manner as editing topic and other templates, but did not bring out the change into the PDF either.$Structure$\xml\DITA_1.2\app\technicalContent\templatemap.template.fm$Structure$\xml\DITA_1.2\app\bookmap\templatebookmap.template.fmHow can I customize looks and feel of PDF made from dita bookmap data ???
HelloI am using the 2015 version trial. While creating TOC, I want to use the 4:TitleHeading1Heading2Heading3But when I add them, the Title always slips below the headings, at number 4. I tried right-click, left-click, cursor movements, adding Title last but of no avail. What wrong am I doing? I thought it may appear correct after TOC was made, but no, the title appears last. Please help. Thanks
hello,Can we find the plain text and replace it with a variable? I want to apply a variable to the Product Name across the book. The product name as of now is a plain text. Is it possible to replace it with the Product name variable?I am using FM 12.Thanks,Avani
Issue: In a one column text frame with a side head, I'd like to align an anchored frame at the top of (and within!) the columnCreate a blank document. On the body page, change the text frame properties: Add a side head.Type some lines.Insert an anchored frame.Anchoring Position: Below Current LineAlignment: LeftNo Cropping, no FloatingEverything works as expected:Now change the Anchoring Position of the frame to At Top of Column:The frame is placed at the top. That's fine. But the frame spans the column and the side head. That's not what I want and, btw, not what I expected. Now change the Number of Columns to 2:Again, everything works as expected: The frame is at the top of the column and it is within the column only.I'd like to have this (The image below is created using a graphics tool.😞One columnA side headAnchored frame at the top of the columnAnchored frame within the column onlyHow do I get it in FM?
This is happening with Illustrator CC and FM 2017, also. It may be a bug:I create files in Illustrator, and when I go to import them into FM, I get NOTHING other than a clear pane where the file should be. If I double-click on the "imported image" (which is nothing) to open the file in Illustrator, then make a small modification in Illustrator and re-save the file, it comes in fine.FM now won't import .ai files directly - you get a grey box.If you want me to start a new thread, I shall do so. (Moderator branched your question to a new thread for you.)
How do I have both letter-size (8.5 X 11) and large (11 X 17 in) landscape pages in one manual? I have already created the large landscape master pages. Do I have to have a different file for each large page (and blank following page) in a manual? If so, how do I ensure the page and figure numbers are correct, and continue from the previous page/fig number in the preceding chapter file, and then continue properly in the chapter file following the inserted large-sized page file?If one chapter has more than one large-sized page that needs to be inserted into it, how do I break up the chapter file to accommodate this, plus ensure the page and figure numbers remain correct and update correctly?Thank youJH
