    FrameMaker has always allowed users to modify some but not all    properties of selected paragraphs by:        1. Selecting the desired paragraphs, which may use different formats.    2. Opening the Paragraph Designer and using the Shift-F8 shortcut to set all properties to as is.    3. Changing the desired properties.    4. Clicking Apply        Doing so, sets the changed properties in the selected paragraph, and leaves all other properties unchanged. If the user then clicks in any of the modified paragraphs, the Designer shows all its properties.        This useful and familiar operation may work in some cases, but FM 2017 fails in at least one case: setting the Keep With Next property on the Pagination page sets the Position property on the Numbering Page to End of Paragraph. Hello,I'm having a little issue with graphic frames. When I import a graphic (either File-Import-File or Insert-Image), it is then been displayed without the standard dotted line around it. The image frame doesn't have it either. On another computer, where an identical version of FM is installed, it does have these dotted lines. I know that you can assign custom ruling to objects, but this issue looks more like some display settings. Do you know what this can be?Thank you very much in advance for your help.Kind regards,Nico

Hi everyone,I've encountered a weird problem. Newly installed Framemaker 15 (part of TCS) doesn't copy the Workspaces directory to C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\FrameMaker\13\.Manually copying the Workspaces directory (with all the files inside it) to this location doesn't help, as the custom workspace/menus/toolbar don't show up in FM. Security-wise, I have full control of the FrameMaker\13\ directory, so it should be able to write to it.Has anyone else encountered this issue on Win7?Thanks,Roman

I have a FrameMaker (2017 Version: 14.0.0.361) book with about 24 sections/chapters and roughly 100 or so tables throughout.  Some of the tables have shading (i.e. blue header rows) and some have no shading at all. When I convert the book to Responsive HTML5, the blue color seems to "bleed" into other columns and rows even in tables that have no shading at all.  If I output each file individually to Responsive HTML5, there are no problems.  The "bleed" issue only seems to happen when I build the book and output the whole book file.  Under "Style Mapping" I have the tables set to [Use Source Style].  If I map the Frame tables to a corresponding Responsive HTML5 style, I'm assuming I'll lose my Frame formatting, which I would like to avoid.Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I've been using computers for 30 yrs. I've been using Framemaker for 15 yrs. Had problems with recent version, and need too re-install.The 'method' Adobe is using for re-install / finfing is about the worst I've encountered. Terchnical Comms Suiter appears to forgotten- doesn't exist, let alone Framemaker.Seriously looking for alternatives.

Our system automatically tracks user changes in FrameMaker document and processes them. For example we put all new text into special “Change” element which has red color to display that this is a changed text.We also handle deletion of text similar way.We process all event notification for such a text changes. So we handle TYPEIN, INLINE_TYPEIN, KBD_CLEAR, KBD_COPY, KBD_PASTE and so on.But we have problem how to handle Change in FrameMaker Find dialog.Our approach is to handle start of Find/Change dialog appearance, then we set FP_AutoChangeBars to True. (So all changes in Find/Change dialog are now FrameMaker tracked).When user closes Find/Change dialog we transform all FM tracked changed to our “Change” elements.This works in FM10 version correctly. But we have upgraded to FM12 and the problem is, that Framemaker 12 is not sending the close of Find/Change event. (KBD_CLOSE_SEARCH).So we cannot finish the operation and transform FM changes to our “Change” elements.Is there any way to

Hello,I am reading Mif reference from http://help.adobe.com/en_US/framemaker/mifreference/mifref.pdf​ and there is a sentence that says "because a MIF file can contain only standard ASCII characters and because of MIF parsing requirements, you must represent certain characters with backslash (\) sequences". When you open a mif file in notepad that has copyright character © in text, you can see it as is. So my question is which character set is used for writing MIF files, US_ASCII or some extension like ISO_8859?Kind regards,Zeljko

Hi, I try to convert a table to structured FrameMaker that contains several paragraphs in a single cell. FrameMaker successfully converts the table but adds empty rows beneath the row containing the cell with multiple paragraphs in it.The empty rows cannot be removed or changed.Can anyone help me with this?Below a screenshot.Regards, Arnold

Hi all,We are migrating some content to DITA. The migration tool seems to have spit out .framevector files instead of the images. The one sample doc I looked at had unreferenced .png files in Framemaker, but .framevector files with generic names were produced in the DITA output instead of retaining the images.In Framemaker, the images had PNG and Framevector facets in the object properties.It may be a case of sorting out the conversion process.But for this batch, does anyone know a way of converting these .framevector files? Or even viewing them? I can't find any program to even open these files.Thanks for your help,Ronan

Hi,I am using Framemaker 17 to write a book file. I am using glossary markers and glossary term markers to generate a glossary.I publish the file as pdf and as responsive HTML5. The glossary itself works fine. However, when I create the responsive HTML5, framemaker creates a folder with the name Glo$$aryPopup$ . The special characters are a problem for my company's subsequent workflow.Is there a possibility to have influence on the folder name before it is created? So that the links dont include the $ signs.Thank you for your help.

This has happened while creating two distinct and separate books, so it's time to ask for some help.I've created my book chapters and built my books the usual way. My headings are numbered, and the numbering is correct within the book's individual files:Chapter numbers are of the correct argument within the Chapter Number tag.Head 1 (and all heading) numbers are of the correct argument within their tag.All display and update correctly within the book's Chapter files when 'booked'; all book files have their numbering set correctly. Was working on a doc on a loaner machine. The doc has ample use of conditional text, and 'Show as per Expression' is used to generate the many variants of the doc.However... there were no expressions in my Expression list. So, I assume that expressions are saved in a file *somewhere*, but don't know which one. (The expressions are all present on my regular machine.)Can anybody point me in the correct direction?thanks.

I have a FrameMaker file that I worked on last week but FrameMaker won't open today. I get an "Unknown File Type" dialog with a selection of file types that I can use to specify the source of the file. But, it is a FrameMaker file. The file is located on a network server, not my laptop. I have not encountered this error before. I googled it, but I found only discussions from 2009 or earlier. I am using FrameMaker 12.

Platform: FM 12 on Win 10.I want every document in my book to have pagination set to "Delete Empty Pages." But whenever I refresh the book, the pagination preference mysteriously switches to Make Page Count Even, or Make Page Count Odd.Why does this continue to happen and how do I stop it?Your help and insight is appreciated.

I am using FrameMaker 2015 to create DITA 1.2 xml filesI am trying to create hotspots on images:<imagemap><image href = "../Maps/_images/lifecycle_partition.png" scale = "40" /><area><shape>rect</shape><coords>2,0,53,59</coords><xref outputclass = "fm:" keyref = "access_control_policies">Accesscontrol policies</xref></area></imagemap>However, the image does not have a hotspot and the text "rect", "2,0,53,59" and "Access Control Policy" appears under the image.The text appears on the Document View, PDF and HTML5 outputs.When I try using the Hotspot mode in the graphic tools, I get a warning on save of:Framemaker does not support DITA multiple graphic object in a single frame.So, how do I create hotspots using FrameMaker DITA?
