FrameMaker

Hi,I am using Framemaker 2017 working with unstructured Frame documents built in Framemaker 2015.  The documents use anchored frames to contain images from a PPT file that are paste as Linked Microsoft PowerPoint Slide Objects.  When this is done in Frame 2015 the PPT slide including the text all stay in the anchored frame.  When I try the paste special> paste as Linked Microsoft PowerPoint Slide Object the text from the slide looks like it has escaped the frame, while the background image is in the frame.  When I move the slide and resize it inside the frame I can get everything inside the frame to look correct.  Is there a way to have the paste as link resize the image so it fits in the frame?I have tried saving the slides as .png files and inserting the image, but I have to manually resize each image to get it to fit in the frame.Thanks,Cindy

I have FM15. In the past, I was importing files as .tif but now I'm required to import them as .eps.  The files are being converted (exported) by using AutoCAD (as .eps).  When I go to import, I get nothing but a grey box and "Cannot display some imported graphics.  The image will appear as gray boxes".  How do I get the file to import?  I don't need to do any editing to the files once its imported.  Any help is appreciated

Why aren't the Table of Contents, List of Figures and List of Tables from the book file published in the Basic HTML output?

I want to understand why the ordering of menu entries does not work for commands defined in ExtendScripts. It was reported in the old bug base as Bug#4110544 (this can no more be tracked). Hence I issued bug FRMAKER-2752. It turns out that even the following does not work (at the end of the menu):«-- in StartUp folder ETBSaveAsOld.jsx defines these commands: ETBdocSaveOld, ETBbookSaveOld with label, shortcut and shortcut-label --» <Modify ETBbookSaveOld <Description Save book as old version [ETB] >> <Order BookFileMenu.ETBbookSaveOld> <After BookFileMenu.SaveAs>> <Modify ETBdocSaveOld <Description Save document as old version [ETB] > <Order FileMenu.ETBdocSaveOld> <After FileMenu.SaveAs>>This can be because of the wrong assumption that the menu is interpreted after the script has been interpeted and new commands have been defined.The script does not create errors and it installs a menu item at the end of the FileMenu and BookFileMenu.

Using FM15. The book numbering properties section is grayed out, so I can't change whatever attributes it has. This is a problem because it's not letting me change chapter numbering at the file level. When I go to generate the book, it says the file properties are different than the book properties, so it's overwriting the chapter numbering I've put in with whatever it thinks it is supposed to be at the book level - which is wrong. So I have two chapter 4's with no way to change them.

The first two I don't want to show because these are for the HF/R titles above the text box (here "Asfalt" and "Emulsiebehandeling, bitumen". The first and second are hiding via color Red and via <FDX -100%> (via MIF). The third "Schadebeeld:" must start at the side line (intent 0). But as the images shows there is space before the third title.  the space is reserved so the text start with an indent. See also below.How can I tell FM2017 not to do that?! Using FrameMaker 13.0.When I import a graphic (.png file) whose background shows as transparent everywhere else (Word, Photoshop, InDesign), it becomes opaque and covers everything underneath it. I've not had this happen before until recently and can't find a setting that appears to need to change. Any ideas?Thanks!

I have a small document that doesn't seem to warrant a book. Can I generate lists and their reference pages inside a FrameMaker file without creating another file that becomes a book?I have tried embedding a standalone TOC but can't get it to work with references page to create ellipses that precede page numbers, or any other formatting.

Hello,our new SDL Trados Version (2017) only supports MIF 2015 Format and not yet MIF2017.Can I purchase 2017 and install initially FM2015? (we are now on MF10 and like to update, because of the Publish features).Can I save as MIF2015 with a trick? Hello,When I create a new book and new documents with the standard layout, the heading 1 heading 2 are automaticlly maped for the responive HTML5 (FrameMaker 2017)Heading 1___Heading 2______Heading 3The TOC in the left HTML does show the hierarchy.When I try to use publish responsive HTML5 from my produtive book (91 Files, 3,400 pages) which was initially created 10 years ago with a FM6 version, the hirarchy does not work. On the first level, the FileName instead of the chapter is used.Do you have any idea?Regards Ingo

Hello, In my unstructured Frame Maker Document I use AFrames to scale the images (mostly screen shots) to the paper size. I use always 150 dpi and the quality is very good in the PDF output (3,200 pages) and in the chm file using WebWorks.I am now evaluating FM2017 Responsive HTML feature to replace local chm to a hosted Web Help.Option A:The responsive HTML may ignore the AFrame size and the scaling and use the 100% best image quality. This makes the images greater but destroys the layout. (Not an issue in my case, because all screenshots uses full left to right in the page)Option B:The scale and size uses the original AFrame size. This will keep the orginal layout.Offering a zoom feature, the user can click on the scaled image to see a popup with the 100% orginal image.The zoom feature would be nice. But even, if I include the java script part, the images rendered in the ./assets folder are already scaled?Thanks for your support

DOOOH! I think I clicked something accidentally within the last week and don't know how to change it back.When I use the "Save as PDF" function, the resulting files won't allow me to print. The top of the window displays the following: "filename.pdf (SECURED)". I don't see anything in the PDF Setup window regarding this.The Help file wasn't helpful this time around. Anyone know where this setting is?FM2017 on Windows 7.Thanks!

I am running FM 11.0.2.384 on Windows 7, and have accidentally changed upwards of 700 text items in a book which has nearly 30 chapters incorrectly, by inadvertently activating the text "A" shortcut, with the search and replace window open.While extremely frustrating and time-consuming, I could re-run a search for the boolean string. Unfortunately, the replacement text box was blank.The original text has been replaced with a space, which I can't accurately search for, considering the original word had plurals as well as past-tense instances.Is there any way in which I can reverse a "change all" command from within the Framemaker 11 interface?

Does anybody have to convert a CMM to Framemaker from Interleaf?  If so, what is the process?  I can bring in files into Framemaker and format them.  But they are not structured.  Once I get them into Framemaker I will need to output in structured PDF and XML.  Is there any training on how to do this or know where I can get some training?  Any and all help is welcome.

I have FM 2015, but if I try to save a file as Word, the only option it gives me is RTF 1.6. Isn't there anything more recent than that? I can't even do this conversion because FM crashes almost every time.

I have a complex file that grew to 35 conditions in the days before FM8 expressions. I used Webworks to convert to help, and had the conditions and variables for each desired output defined in a separate FM settings file, so I just needed to import those into the book and convert. Happy Happy.Flash forward, the files are now in FM8 and I use TCS1 to convert to help, so I have to set the conditions using an expression in FM. Having to create the expression manually with so many conditions is tedious and error-prone, so I'm <finally> able to take the time to clean up the conditions to reduce them to the bare minimum required and multiple-tag paragraphs as necessary. However, I'm testing the expression first and can't get the output I want, and haven't been able to find a resource to help me (if anyone knows of such a beast, please direct me there).Here's the setup:Conditions:- A, B, C, D (a para can be any or all of these, but only one can be chosen for output)- cake or pie (mutual

Has anyone else had this issue, or have possible reasons why it is happening?I am using FrameMaker 2015 on Windows 8.1.Fonts used are HelveticaNeueLT Pro TrueType family. Fonts are new within the last 4 months.Seemingly out of the blue, my Save As...PDF (using this option to get correct CMYK colors) will stop printing many of the Helvetica fonts properly. They come out fat and blocky, as if the correct fonts are not installed on my system (but they are).I'm trying to see if I can track this down to Windows automatic updates, but can't figure out what on my system is changing to break the print process.Last time it happened, a reinstall of FrameMaker fixed the issue. This time, reinstall has no effect. IT has also tried reinstalling the fonts, to no avail. My PDF settings are set to embed all of the TrueType fonts in use into the document.I just don't know what else to look at. Does anyone have any ideas?Thank you!Diane
