FrameMaker

I managed, I think, to get DROPBOX/ADOBE/ONEDRIVE if not set up for all incoming data at least my data secured and not preventing use of device. Frame Maker I didn't get maybe complete information on. Is it a necessity to have or a choice for better access costing me extra? I don't have an aversion to fees just on fees I don't need or want or not ready to use. I am averse to my privacy and freedom being at risk. I found Dropbox much easier to use for me in conjunction with OneDrive than 365Office was. Thank you so much for your help.

Hello colleagues,I've been having an issue with amending table formats in FM 15 (Windows 8.1).In the table format catalogue I have a table, which I want to amend (add ruling around a column). I have tried inserting a table, applying custom ruling in the "Custom Ruling and Shading" and then saving the table under a new table tag in the "Table designer". However, when I select "Insert Table" and select the newly created tag in the "Table Format" I still get the old table inserted.Could you please tell me if there is any way to edit a table format and save it in the table format library?Thank you in advance.Regards,Nico

I often use Hypertext Specify Named Destination and Jump to Named Destination markers when I want to truncate the destination text rather than use a Cross-Reference marker that includes the full paragraph text as the link value for the source. I include the marker immediately before the source text, which I make blue to highlight it as a cross-reference. Upon PDF conversion (.ps and then click to make .pdf) in about half the instances the link area is misaligned with the text. I need to use the PDF XI Add or Edit Link function to realign the selection box to enclose the text. What should I do to avoid having to do this? Screenshots attached: (1) source  marker, (2) destination marker, (3) resulting PDF of source. The bonding-group link is actually a conventional Cross-Reference, which is OK..

We have two Win 7 workstations running Framemaker 11 and Acrobat Standard XI.  Both have worked fine until recently, one has begun hanging when we Save To PDF or print to PDF.  Our documents are tech manuals and typically run 30-80 pages, including photos, drawings and text.  All manuals are affected.  The same manuals produce PDFs as expected on the other workstation.  If I make a one page, one word FM document, it does not hang when producing a PDF.  When I output to PDF from MS Word or Excel, it works fine.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled both Framemaker and Adobe Acrobat.  I re-installed Framemaker without the PDF add-in.  This workstation has a new hard drive and 32GB of new RAM.  Anyone have a suggestion on how to fix this?

Just received emailing advertising new framemaker 2017, but whereever I scroll there is no one for macOS. Did I miss something?

I would like to be able to open a FM 10 document at a particular paragraph, so the paragraph is scrolled to. I want to pass the paragraph ID for a heading and have the heading at the top (or at least within the visible portion) of the document window. Is this possible?

I don't seem to be able to make my markers work uniformly.I have a "Glossary" marker. Hi I would like to add to the template ours structuerd framemaker (11.0.2.384) a dynamic ansi safety table.it should look like:the technical writer shoud be able to choose a ANSI Safety item.all pictures should be choosable only the text (white space) should be written by the technical writer.So far i bult the table (above picture) in the tamplate on the working page, the pictures are frames added by cell properties from the reference page.In the EDD I started a table but i have now idea how to connect theme and make it dynamical.Thise are te posibilitys to fill this table 25languages, minimum 10 pictures on the left, 5 safety states, 3 Pictures on the right.has any one allready donne something lik this?is it possible?what would be the easyesed way?best regardsBeat Ziörjen

Apologies for posting here, but I'm hoping someone will be able to advise me on a broader issue: I have a serious Acrobat question to do with certificates, and have posted to the relevant Acrobat forum. No response, and as far as I can see this is the only route to support! 'chat' is apparently "not available for my product" … The forum has always been a more than adequate support mechanism for FrameMaker – perhaps we just have more expert experts in our community ;-}Advice welcome.

In my layout I have a text block that is 27pc wide. I have a right tab set with leader at 26.9pc before the page number. Everything is fine if it's one line. If the line turns, the tab is not recognized and the page number is up against the head text. I have to manually insert a second tab on turn lines. Any ideas on how to fix this? Otherwise, I'd have to insert a tab on all 37 pages of my TOC.

I have FrameMaker 12 and using Windows 7, has anyone had any issues with Windows 10?  I am soon going to be upgraded to Windows 10 and a bit nervous whenever we make these changes.  FrameMaker seems to have issues with changes from the past. When I started working with FrameMaker 10 (Structured) I knew this might become a problem someday. I started with a set of existing manuals that draw on existing reservoirs of ditamaps and xml files. When I have to edit an xml file how can I know where else it is used? Because if the change I am making in one manual is not intended to show up in a certain other manual I will have to change the name of the xml file and possibly the ditamap it is used in.any help appreciated,Mike

How do I trigger a 'save as PDF' of a FM file that is sitting in our SharePoint document library? I know I can probably register a script to "save as" but how do I run it from a button click on my SharePoint document library after selecting a bunch of framemaker files?

I have files and a book that display Paragraph Tags---in the Format > Document > PDF Setup - Tags tab---that are not in any of my files. I believe these Para Tags are from an old template that I repuprosed to create my current user manual template. I have been struggling with failures on PDF generation and I am wondering if the issues are tied to these tags. The Para Tags in question were deleted years ago. I have just now noticed them in this dialog.I have checked all Reference Pages, Body Pages, and Master Pages.I have searched with the Find tool and I have also looked line-by-line.I have created a list of references.None of the above find this old para tags, yet they show up in this dialog.Ideas?Windows 10 PCFrameMaker 2015, Version 13.0.5.547

Hi All,I'm using FM2015 (13.05.547) on a Windows 10 laptop. I have 2 laptops, actually, both with same version of FM and both Win10, both with same problem.The problem:  current project is a book updated from FM12 to FM2015 via open book and all files in book in 2015 and save all files.  The Save As option on the File menu is disabled in all FM files in this book on both laptops.  FM2015 crashes when I try to Update Book, whether all the.fm  files are opened or if it's just the .book file open.  I have verified there are no unresolved cross-references.  So, the first thing I would want to do is roundtrip through MIF to clean things up a bit -- but I can't, because Save As isn't available.I want to upload sample files, but I don't see how to do so in this interface. Well, that is the idea anyway. I am using Framemaker version 13.0.2.433.So do I use conditional text/tags, CSH or just Markers in the text?

I have created an ExtendScript function that builds and populates a ScriptUI dialog. It then opens a template selected by the user. This works well and does everything I want it to do. Now the problem is that I need to run it from an FDK menu. This ExtendScript function takes a single argument.I though that F_ApiCallClient() would be the way to go, but it's not documented for that usage. Has anyone tried to do this and succeeded? Or perhaps I'm overlooking a really obvious way to do it? ThanksIan

Hello,since a few days im having trouble creating a .pdf file in Framemaker.The "... save as .pdf" Option has never been working for me, probably because I'm not using system fonts.The "workaround always has been that I print my file with my adobe pdf printer, save it was .ps file, change in printer settings that it should only use system fonts. Then Framemaker proceeds and creates a .ps file for me, which I could doubleclick and Acrobat Distiller was creating my .pdf-file.Since a week or so I'm getting the following Distiller-Error message:%%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%%%[ Error: invalidfileaccess; OffendingCommand: showpage ]%%%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%%%[ Warning: PostScript error. I have a chapter file with a blank page at the end. There is definitely no text on the Body page. There's a header on the Master page.I have tried deleting the last page, but it reappears when I save or print.I'm guessing it has something to do with the master page, but I don't know what exactly.

FrameMaker 2015 Version 13.0.2.433Windows 10 Pro Version 1607I have a new FM manual based on a tried and true template. Changes from the standard template include migration to Open Sans as the primary font (to match the UI for the software this manual covers) and some frame and text fill colors to match company logo.When I use the Save to PDF function, color output is fine, but there is no bold or italics applied to text in the document. These text effects were applied with individual character styles for each.When I use the print to PDF or print to file and generate the final PDF in Distiller (using the same job options I've always used), the italics and bold fonts are fine, but the colors are way off on my blue headings and filled frame boxes. NOTE: I used the same color values in color definitions for the heading and fills that are used in the company logo file (in the header), but the blue is drastically off. I am using FM2015 to manage our company's standard operating procedures, which are stored on Google Drive so that any employee may access them to make changes. Is it possible to import a file into FM directly from Google Drive instead of a file on your computer and have the automatic update link work between Google Drive and FM (instead of the link being between FM and a file on your computer)? I am trying to fix the navigation panel when I publish to HTML. I have Heading 0, 1, and 2. Heading 0 expands to view heading 1 and 2 in that section. I want to do the same for heading 1, where is will expand heading 2 in the section. How do I do this in FrameMaker?
