FrameMaker

I have a chapter file with a blank page at the end. There is definitely no text on the Body page. There's a header on the Master page.I have tried deleting the last page, but it reappears when I save or print.I'm guessing it has something to do with the master page, but I don't know what exactly.

Changes from the standard template include migration to Open Sans as the primary font (to match the UI for the software this manual covers) and some frame and text fill colors to match company logo.When I use the Save to PDF function, color output is fine, but there is no bold or italics applied to text in the document. These text effects were applied with individual character styles for each.When I use the print to PDF or print to file and generate the final PDF in Distiller (using the same job options I've always used), the italics and bold fonts are fine, but the colors are way off on my blue headings and filled frame boxes. NOTE: I used the same color values in color definitions for the heading and fills that are used in the company logo file (in the header), but the blue is drastically off. I am using FM2015 to manage our company's standard operating procedures, which are stored on Google Drive so that any employee may access them to make changes. Is it possible to import a file into FM directly from Google Drive instead of a file on your computer and have the automatic update link work between Google Drive and FM (instead of the link being between FM and a file on your computer)? I am trying to fix the navigation panel when I publish to HTML. I have Heading 0, 1, and 2. Heading 0 expands to view heading 1 and 2 in that section. I want to do the same for heading 1, where is will expand heading 2 in the section. How do I do this in FrameMaker?

Hi--I have a parent book in FrameMaker 15 with 12 child books. When I generate the table of contents for the parent book, the chapter numbers for the child books do not increment. I have tried numerous ways to set the numbering for the TOC, but nothing works.Thanks for any suggestions----Katherine

I have five files in a book.  The first paragraph format in each file is set to Start anywhere and each file has been set to Delete empty pages before saving.  When I print the book, the files all start at the top of a new page.  I do not want that.  Instead, I want each subsequent file to begin where the previous file left off.  Is there a way to do this other than merging all the files into one large file?Thanks for any assistance.

I have a book created in FrameMaker 11. One of the chapters/files is not allowing me to make changes in it at all nor is it letting me even click the cursor anywhere on the document. I am sure it's just a setting but all the menus are different so I have not been able to figure it out myself.

After installing FrameMaker 12 on a new built Windows 10. FrameMaker will not run, It generates an error message then it will close FrameMaker.

I have a problem occurring when I save file or print book to PDF in Framemaker 12. Some of the hypertext links are placed correctly, but some of them are placed over the text immediately preceding the markers, or around a single space immediately preceding the markers, or are not created at all. The problem does not occur with cross reference links. I've tried with the "Create Named Destinations for all Elements and Paragraphs" checkbox checked and unchecked. The documents are localized from English into multiple languages, resulting in my having to manually adjust or create the necessary links in multiple PDFs, which is far too time-consuming to be effective.Is this just a bug, or is there something I need to be doing to ensure that the link is generated around the correct text in the paragraph? I do have instances where it works as you'd expect, but it seems to be hit or miss.Attached images contain examples of FM and PDF.

I need to connect to a webpage that contains a list of documents. Need to grab the next document ID available by reading the top most document.Can somebody point in the right direction?I tried the script that comes in the manual but something is not working right.Thanks.

We created a template using Step (1,2,3), Sub-step (a,b,c) and Subsub-step (I, ii, iii) the issue is when using a subsub-step and reverting back to sub-step for example: b.i.ii.iii.and we revert here to sub-step, the next should be sub-stepc.Instead the next ise.So, can anyone help. Is there a step missing in the process, a special character missing in the template to make it continue with the next character?Or is it something else?

I have boxes instead of text when using [Character designer, Courier New, 8.0pt, everything else normal] on bits of text.I'm on Windows 10 using FM9. Much of the text is in German, but it doesn't seem to matter if I switch the language to English.Thanks,Dawn

Hi, I'm using FM8.I have a book that has a reference chapter of forms, and these forms are xref'd wherever they are mentioned in the rest of the book.Now, the client has combined six of these forms into one form. Is there a way to find all the places that link to a particular heading so that I can point them to the appropriate new form, or is it easier to just delete the old content and wait for the unresolved xrefs?Thanks,Laurie

Hello, all.I am using FrameMaker 2015 in a Windows 7 environment.I have attempted to save a .book file as a PDF in two ways:1. Using the "Save as PDF" option from the File menu. Chokes. Gives me a pdfmark error.2. Printing to the Adobe PDF printer while NOT selecting "Save to file" and NOT selecting "Generate PDF Data." Works, but does not give me a PDF Table of Contents in left navigation pane. My users expect this. If I choose and set up "Generate PDF Data," it chokes and gives me a pdfmark error.I successfully saved some of the files from the book to PDF, but others choked and provided various pdfmark errors, with different error IDs.Since one file choked on page 43, I deleted the content from both pages 42 and 43 and attempted to save to PDF. Same error, still occurred on page 43.I don't want to have to recreate these chapters from scratch; one is huge. How do I identify the source of the problem within each file, and fix it?Thanks.

I am getting this message, "Cannot open for writing" when I try to save files in my book in FrameMaker 13 (Adobe Technical Communication Suite 2015). I have downloaded all updates. How can I fix this?Thanks,Gina

Hey, allI am doing a fair amount of work in an unstructured Framemaker document.  However, I have to copy-paste text from one portion of the doc to several other locations.  My issue is that whenever I do so, the pasted content is automatically inserted under the paragraph tag of that location.   I have to stop and reformat whatever I just pasted into the same paragraph tag as the copied text.  I've tried all the Framemaker Paste Special options without any success.  This is annoying and inefficient when it has to be done a few dozen times a document.  Any suggestions?  Thank you

I have been going around and around on trying to get Technical Communication Suite 2015 installed on my computer. I've uninstalled everything a couple times. I had a Framemaker 2012 and removed that too.Before removing that  Roaming/Adobe folder, I used to get just a couple errors. Does anyone have an idea as to the benefits of using Robohelp for FM conversion to HTML5 versus using direct publishing of FM to HTML5?My company is interested in publishing extensive user manuals to HTML (and other formats) and would like to use our standard web css to format the output. I can't figure out for the life of me from the Adobe product information what RoboHelp would buy us. When I did this for a previous company I used a third party tool (FM did not have this type of export at the time).I'm very interested in hearing any thoughts or experiences any of you have both with and without FrameMaker.
