Hello all,I've searched and searched the forum to find a clue to my dilemma, but have had no luck. This is a related to a previous post about formatting a Heading1 with a black background and white text in front. I have successfully figured that part out (as a table cell with Heading 1 inside of it). So here's part II:I need the numbering in front of the Heading 1 to look like this:14.1 Heading 1 Title Here -----> the format of this IS Heading 1 where 14=chapter number, and 1=Heading 1 numberI'm trying to accomplish this with auto-numbering, but it appears that there is no way to get H1 paranum in there. Here are some I've tried:<$chapnum>.<$paranum>and<$chapnum>.<$paranum[Heading1]> ->but these do not appear to be allowed in autonumbering at all. Also tried two separate Heading 1 paragraph styles:<$chapnum>.<n=1> ->paragraph named Heading1=1; that
Hi. I once registered for the webinar ALDOUS SESS 1) BENEFITS OF EASY XML AUTHORING: MIGRATE FROM OLD UNSTRUCTURED DOC WORKFLOW TO XML, but I no longer have the link to view it. When I tried to reregister, I get an error telling me that my email is already registered. Does anyone know how I can obtain a link to watch this session (besides using a different email) or have a suggestion for who I should contact at Adobe (is it still Maxwell Hoffman)? Thanks.
How do I save PDF settings for bookmarks and tags or edit the defaults so I don't have to select them every time I save a book or file as a PDF?
I've tried to send the following error code to fmerror@adobe.com, but it keeps bouncing back as undeliverable. I am trying to set double sided pagination options in an old FM file, and whatever choice I make, when pressing "Set", this error shows.I have cleaned weird frames in master page. I have search for this message but haven´t been able to find anything regarding this issue. What I'm trying to do is split this old document into chapters so it can be easily edited, I need to configure the pages to count even. Am I missing something?
Can anyone tell me why I am getting the white space between my Heading 1 paragraph box and the line below? I've tried everything I can think of (including removing the fixed paragraph line height of 10.5 pt) and cannot get the two to meet.
We use one directory for projects we're working on, and another for completed projects. When cross-referencing to other writers' books, we cross-reference from the working directory to the completed directory. We want absolute cross-references, so that the path will always begin at D:\. We do not want relative cross-references, because the files' relative positions change.I did a little research in the forum, and it appears that using Save gives me relative paths, but using Save As gives absolute paths. But regardless of whether I use Save or Save As, the cross-reference links are broken after moving the file I'm cross-referencing from. This doesn't seem right, because the location of the file I'm cross-referencing to is the same as it ever was.Is there a way to force FrameMaker to use an absolute path for cross-references? And if it uses an absolute path when I Save As, why are my cross-references broken after I Save-As a file and then move it?jimstoic
I'm working on a document that has several imported graphics. One in particular, is a PDF that was pulled in from another location in our document repository. I need to know exactly where this file came from, when I select the file and open the Object Properties pod, the "Referenced File" location is blank. I've also generated a list of imported graphics but (1) thie PDF file does not appear on the list, thought I know for a fact that it was imported, and (2) the files that do appear in this list do not show the entire path, just the first couple of folders with a "..." before them, indicating there is more to the location that I can't see.I need a full list of complete paths for ALL of my referenced files, including this one. Can someone please tell me how to find this?Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!
I am using FrameMaker 10 and I want to add a capability via an EDD that uses an Attribute to control the display of a change bar for a text range. I have had success doing this for other font settings such as Underline, but when I try to use the Change Bar font setting the attribute will turn the Change bar on, but will not turn it off.e.g.Element (Container): RevstGeneral rule: <TEXT>Attribute listName: Document-Revision String Required Name: Revdate String Required Name: Rev-Status Choice Optional Choices: Current, SupersededDefault: CurrentName: Source-Data String Required Text format rulesIf context is: [Rev-Status = "Current"]Text range.Font propertiesChange bars: YesElse, if context is: [Rev-Status = "Superseded"]Text range.Font pro
I get several Errors when trying to Import a FrameMaker File into another.Internal Error: 10024, 6140713, 6216037, 7228638Then FrameMaker freezes, and after about half a Minute an error message appears:Unfortunately, the Forum doesn't let me attach any error logs of my colleagues and me, who have all experienced the same error. Please let me know how I could attach the logs.Thank you very much!
Assigning change bars to text in FrameMaker 10 appears to give inconsistent results. Sometimes I can select the contents of an anchored frame and assign a change bar to it. Other times, only the marker is assigned a change bar and not the contents of the anchored frame. Also, sometimes I can select a table and assign a continuous change bar to it. Other times, a separate change bar is assigned to individual rows of the table. Are there any workarounds for this inconsistency?
My document contains hundreds of numbered lists which are all unique lists (series). Framemaker Help (2015) tells me to format text as numbered lists by:Display the Numbering properties of the Paragraph Designer and enter a series label in the Autonumber Format box if you need more than one autonumber series in the document.A series label consists of any single printable character followed by a colon (for example, S:). However, if I have hundreds of lists, once I've worked my way through the alphabet and every other single printable character, does that mean I've run out of series labels for that document?I've worked my way through upper case and lowercase letters, and am starting on numbers and symbols but I can't see a way I can label more than say about 80 series of numbered lists before I run out of unique single characters. Is there a limit?
When I add the \t building block to a paragraph tag, I get a number. How do I make it just do a tab and not include a number?
I'm writing a manual / reference document and I want to include a cross-reference that refers the reader from one part of the document to another. Example: "For more information, see the procedures found in Section 9.1.2." If another 1Body1.1.1+ paragraph is added at a later date, then the reference number changes and becomes obsolete unless I manually search the document and update it accordingly. Is there a way to generate a 'smart' reference that is always tied to that content and changes as the reference paragraph number changes?
Hi Folks,I'm trying to set up a reproducible process for importing all our Word files into FrameMaker. I've got it mostly done (thanks largely to tips found here!) but am still struggling with getting the tables to come over well.My problem is that the table seems to show up in its own flow, which results in more space than I want between the the table and the paragraph above it. Is there a way to either import it in the same flow as the main text or to move all the content into a single flow after the import? Screenshot attached.
Ich habe beide Suites im Büro auf dem Rechner und würde gerne die TCS 3.5 zuhause mitnutzen. Kann ich diese problemlos zuhause installieren. Oder muss diese im Büro dann jedesmal deaktiviert werden?
We recently started using Google Drive to share files with coworkers out of the office. The Framemaker files that are saved on the google drive disappear when I'm working out of the office and make changes and do file/save. Do I have to change some settings in FM or will it not work with Google drive. If that is the case, what will it work with? Thanks for the help.
My company has just updated FrameMaker from version 12 to 2015. I installed the new software but it doesn't recognize the licence. We spoke with Adobe support: they spoke about a bug and they are working on it. In the meantime we can use the 30 days trial version. OK, better than nothing. Start the the trial version: it crashes! ------------- Internal Error 12044, 24415924, 24416218, 27360613. FrameMaker has detected a serious problem and must quit. ..... ----------Well... lets work on version 12. Now it crashes in the same way! The same even FrameMaker 11...Panic! Any suggestion?
Can I place an Anchored Frame "Above Current Line" so that my Figure Tag shows up with the Anchor below the Anchored Frame? The only option I have is to place the Anchored Frame "Below Current Line". I'm trying to get a Figure Tag with an Anchor tag below my Anchored Frame, but just don't know how to do that
I have a very large, very detailed table that has *many* footnotes.A reviewer noted that it's difficult to distinguish between 'i' and 'j' (footnotes use a small font size)... is there a way to skip a number? (e.g. go directly from 'h' to 'j')Thanks either way
FM 2015 on Win 7.I have a letter sized document with an 11 column table in it. It's in portrait format just like the page, and flows over 5 pages. It's very cramped though and I'd like to make the table to be in landscape format, and flow over several pages. I've been experimenting with Anchored Frames with rotated text boxes inside them, but they are only good for tables that fit on 1 page. I suppose I could chop the table up and insert Anchored Frames with rotated text boxes on several pages, but that would be a pain to maintain. Is this possible in FrameMaker 2015 to have Landscape tables in portrait pages that flows over pages?
Having other issues and suggestion was made to check for updates.Yep, update 5 is available.Tried to install -- got error U44M1P6.I'm assuming 13.0.0.333 (what I have currently) is the result of update 4, but am not sure.Only suggestion I've seen is to reinstall FrameMaker and install update(s) again. Is that the only solution, or have I missed something? Thanks.
Hello,I'm using FM12 with structured docs. I'm looking to convert some Framescript into Extendscript language.I finish my first Extendscript this morning (too me 3 days) : searching Element and saving the attributes value into a text file. But I'm stuck converting my second one.In a structured doc, i want to wrap a selected text with a element "PRESS" into a element "PARA" (the element PRESS is allowed in the element PARA by the DTD/EDD).My Framescript (FS 6.0)Set vCurrentDoc = ActiveDoc;Set vSelect = vCurrentDoc.TextSelection;// Get the Element DefGet Object NewVar(vEltDef) Type(ElementDef) Name('PRESS'); // Wrap the selected textWrap ElementDef(vEltDef);// Select the new PRESS elementSet vPRESS = ElementSelection.begin.child;// Create the attribsNew AttributeList NewVar(vPRESSatt) AttrName('SMALLCAPS') Value('1');// Assign the Attributes to the tagSet vPRESS.Attributes = vPRESSatt; In Extendscript, how do i write it?var vCurrentDoc = app.ActiveDoc;var vSelect = vCurrentDoc.TextSelectio
Hi,While attempting to do Find operations with ExtendScript, FM2015, I find that the documented constants for FS_FindCustomizationFlags do not resolve. From the doc:Constant.FS_FindCustomizationFlags (15) - An optional parameter of type FT_Integer that may be any of the following bit flags OR’ed together:• Constants.FF_FIND_CONSIDER_CASE (0x01)• Constants.FF_FIND_WHOLE_WORD (0x02)• Constants.FF_FIND_USE_WILDCARDS (0x04)• Constants.FF_FIND_BACKWARDS (0x08)For example, this just reports "undefined": alert(Constants.FF_FIND_CONSIDER_CASE); I worked around it by specifying the hex integer directly, but I'm wondering if I'm just missing something. And FWIW, I originally bumped into this looking for a way to search with regular expressions. I found this in the FDK fapidefs.h file, which fortunately allowed me to get it to work:#define FF_FIND_USE_REGEX ((IntT) 0x10) Russ
