I am new to the API and ExtendScript, and I am having alot of difficulty navigating the object model I am trying to extract the referenced file names of graphic objects.  I can get all the graphics in my docs by doing:var graphic = doc.FirstGraphicInDoc;            while (graphic) {            [ ... Process graphic here ... ]            graphic = graphic.NextGraphicInDoc;     }Per the object model browser, the FirstGraphicInDoc says it returns an FMObject.  Problem is that there does not appear to be anything shown as an FMObject in the object browser.  There is also no graphic object.  How is somebody supposed to find out what can be extracted from a graphic?   I have found some properties such as Unique and type by Googling for examples, but its very hit and miss.Does anyone kn

(FM12)I notice CSH information for developers with several programming languages here.I do not notice a C# example on that page.A link at the bottom of that page points to .Net examples, including C#.What about a programmer who uses C# without .Net?  Is that possible? I have customized a script that browse tables into a Fm file and prompt the user if he wants the current active table to be reformated or notI haven't find a clean way to have the table that is currently selected in the variable "tbl" to be visible on the screen when the scripts sends a dialog.The workaround that I have found consists in starting some formating on the table before sending the prompt, in that case the currently processed table is visible when the prompt arises.But I would like to have the table visible and avoid doing any processing on the table before the user has had a chance to answer the prompt.I assume there must be a method to bring the focus of the active window on an element that is selected in a variable?function ApplyTableFormat(doc){    if (doc.ObjectValid())    {        var tbl = doc.SelectedTbl        var tbltitle;        va

FrameMaker 12.0.4.445 crashes if a font is missing in Windows 8.0 all patched up. This is a repeatable crash.1) Open FrameMaker 12.0.4.445 and create a new blank document (named TestEmbeddedFont.fm).2) Type the following lines and apply the fonts indicated using the Format > Font and Format > Size menu selections. (The top two lines are Times New Roman 12 pt.)Test font embeddingThis is Times New Roman 14pt.This is Arial 14pt.This is Futura Book Oblique OTF 14pt.This is Times New Roman 14pt.3) Save the file TestEmbeddedFont.fm.4) Open the file, and all seems fine.5) Close FrameMaker.6) Uninstall the font Futura Book Oblique from Windows.7) Reboot Windows.😎 Start FrameMaker.9) Try to open the file, TestEmbeddedFont.fm.The result is FrameMaker just quits. (FM12.0.4 on Win7x64)Where do I set the background color of a paragraph tag entry that is selected in the (F9) Paragraph Formats quick list?Is that under Windows: Control Panel > Personalization > Window Color and Appearance? Is there any way to do a search something and replace with what I found plus something more?For example, in Indesign, I can search "(xy)(wz)" and replace "$1+$2".In FM 12 GREP are implemented, but it seems it cannot do what I want.

When you use draw a text line "A" icon in the graphic toolbar, the first letter of the text deletes when you save your document for all lines after the first one.Text entered before saving the document:HithisistestAfter saving the document changes to:HihissestAfter each word I am hitting the enter key on my keyboard to access the next line.If anyone can help me fix this issues that world be great.  I never had this problem when working in Frame 9.  Only in Frame 10.

HiUsing Frame 10 on Win 7 ProI am trying to change the font and color for a few paragraph tags with Paragraph Designer.Most of the paragraphs change OK when I click Update All, but there are odd paras that don't change with the rest. For example, trying to apply changes to Table Text will change some entries but not others even in the same table. I find that rather impossible to believe.Similarly, for some of my numbered lists the change affects the actual number digit correctly, but the text retains the old style.I can change the offending tags outside of the Para designer, but I suspect they will just revert to the old style if I close and reopen the chapter.Any help please?ThanksPhil

Hi,I have read a post dated 2009 where someone asked about Righ-to-Left support in FM (http://forums.adobe.com/message/3080754#3080754). Now, FrameMaker is evolved to FM11. Is there any chance they included a feature for RTL languages while using an international version of FM11?I even move forward with my question. I have FM10. Is there any chance to buy an upgrade to FM11 ME? Will that work with LTR languages?Best regards,Sebastian

I have done many books with TOC, LOT, and LOF that all work fine.  They all look pretty normal:Table 123 - Name of table ......................<page number>orFigure 123 - Name of Figure .................. <page number>But now I have a case where the "..........." isn't happening, and the <page number> is just squished up against the name of the table with no space between the name and the page number.  This is only happening to the LOT and LOF.  The TOC looks fine.I assume it's something in the Reference Pages that got messed up, but I can't figure out what happened so I can fix it.Any ideas?

Hello,I started from a script example found on this very useful forum that allows to reformat tables across a document. This is very useful when many new tables are imported from Word, Excel or any other source and need to be reformated all at once with the default document template. This involves many steps when done by hand like:- changing table tag- revert to default ruling and shading- colapse the anchor line- copy the table title from a body line to the table title line- apply paragraph tag to the title line- Reformat top row(s) as heading row(s)- apply paragraph tags to paragraphs whithin the table cells- Remove min or max rows height- Resize columns "By scaling to widths totalling ..."I have not been able to find a method for the last item that correspond to the following menu in FM11: Table -> Format -> resize colums -> By scaling to widths totalling ...".I would appreciate any help to put me on the tracks for resizing columns in Fm Extendscript.Cheers,Bruno

I want to insert a cross-reference to another document. I have done this several times to headings, and it has worked just fine.However, now I want the reference to go to a paragraph. I don't want the cross-reference in document one to display the entire paragraph text from the paragraph I am referencing in document two. I just want a few of the words from the paragraph to appear as the cross-reference. I tried to make a marker, but I can't get the marker text to be used as the cross-reference. I don't think I can make my own building blocks. So, how do I just get the few words to be the cross-reference without having to create a custom format each time I do this?

Using FM 10.  Have a book with one document in it.  But am unable to create a second document.   I click on the Create New Document in the Book file, type in the name of the document with an "fm" ending in the "New" screen.  But when I press on "go", it acts like I am looking for a document already out there.  It says, "File not found, check the file name and try again".  How do I get it to create a new file rather than act like I am looking for an already existing file?  What's wrong with the system?  This has never happened before. Does anyone know if it's possible to run more than one subscription of TCS? Before upgrading to TCS6 I' ve been told to uninstall TCS5, but I'd like to keep TCS5 (i.e. RH11) available. With the non-subscription based model you could upgrade and keep the previous version running as well. Is this a limitation of the subscription model?ThanksJonathan

Using FrameMaker 10 at work, our books keep getting their bookmarks shuffled around when we convert to PDF. Hi Everyone. I am recursively processing an XML file using ExtendScript. I have a "level" variable so I can keep track of how deep I am in the structure. I want to detect when the level changes in either direction. I am having trouble figuring out how to use a "prevLevel" variable to keep track of the current level so I can see if it has changed. It seems to work when the level increases, but not when it decreases. Any help would be appreciated. Here is my script. For example, the numbers in <MText and <XRefSrcText ?If yes, then presumably every book update would update every file in the book that has such a marker, including every inset that has such a marker, indicating lots of "change" that isn't really change that my authors need to manage.Thoughts? Suggestions?

I am trying to open a FrameMaker 5.5 document using scripting and convert it to XML.  I can open the files in the interactive version, but when I try to open them in FrameMaker 2015 using ExtendScript it just won't open.  No return parameter errors.  Just says not valid document.  Is there a parameter I can set in the open parameters to allow this? Anyone have an example of how to do this?Paul V

One of my coworkers got FM12. The rest of us have 11 but our IT department said they couldn't get a new license for 11, so he got 12. I supposed we'll all upgrade at some point, but...I've been trying to configure his copy to our output. I won't get into the trouble I've been having with that just yet; first, I hope someone can help me with this.While I was trying to get his output to work correctly, I accidentally overwrote his copy of ditafm.ini without backing up the original (I know...), and now I'm having a whole new set of problems. I need to start fresh, but, as you can see, I messed up.Could someone in this forum please give me a copy of the default ditafm.ini (not ditafm-output.ini) for FrameMaker 12, or even just post the text of the file here so I can copy it back in?I promise I'll be more careful in the future....Thanks in advance.

In the structured view, FrameMaker 12 has a "nice" feature that shows an attribute pop-up dialog when the pointer is over an element and the Ctrl key is pressed. This is especially handy for changing attribute values on the fly.However, I put "nice" in quotes because it's actually more annoying than useful in its current implementation. Right now, if the pointer is over any element tag, the pop-up appears immediately when the Ctrl key is pressed. If you are trying to use some key sequence, like Ctrl-X, Ctrl-Shift-H, etc., the dialog blocks that action. This makes it very difficult to use Ctrl-X/Ctrl-V to rearrange elements around, because the dialog is constantly blocking the actions. I end up having to juggle the mouse and the keyboard to move the pointer off elements as I select them, then use hotkeys. I'm amazed this one made it through whatever usability testing was performed for FrameMaker 12!Can you please find an implementation that allows Ctrl-key sequences to still work when t
