How to search for a certain cross reference using its name in FM 11?

Hello community,a stupit mistake occures since a couple of days: The content of the FM12 file stay hidden after opening of the file! This mistake occur on each file my employeer like to open, all other employeers can open the files correctly. I am not sure what the problem is, maybe a setting problem but the stupid thing is during change of current view, for example from authoring to proof, the content of the file will shown for a short moment up to the "view chance checkbox" will confirmed. This is not understandable and I need help! Thanks a lot!

I'm in the process of converting files from Framemaker 7.2 to 12.0. Everything has gone fairly smoothly, except for the following font issue.I have a character tag that uses Zapf Dingbats (named Dingbats 1655). It is then used in my paragraph tag (h2 head2), where the Autonumber code is set as: n n/t (n=the box symbol in Zapf Dingbats with a space between the two, the t for the tab). This gives me the double box for the h2 head2 paragraph tag (see below from Framemaker 7.2 layout).When I open the file in Framemaker 12.0, it displays as below (with extra spacing between the two boxes). The character tab and paragraph settings are identical to 7.2: However, if I act like I'm printing to a .pdf in Framemaker 12.0 (changing from my default copier to the .pdf setting, and actually "print" a page as a .ps or .pdf), it miraculously "fixes" the issue and appears on screen like it does in 7.2:Am I to assume there is now an issue with my default printer (local shared copier) based on the fact th

In my test script to cope with the various open errors I have this definition for the OpenParms:   i = GetPropIndex(params, Constants.FS_RefFileNotFound);  // Document imports another file that isn’t available.  params.propVal.ival = Constants.FV_AllowAllRefFilesUnFindable;  When opening a book with files creating various errors, I get a dialog at the file which has missing graphics«Cannot display some imported graphics. The image will appear as gray boxes»Isn't this covered by the above OpenParm ?The whole test with files is in my dropbox.

Hi,Can Adobe help me deactivate my serial number from another laptop. I'm currently using new one, and forgot to deactivate from the old one. Hello,I think this is a very basic question, but I'm stuck. I have a structured application that is supposed to use a XSLT to preprocess its files. I've added a XMLApplication/XSLTPreferences/PreProcessing/Stylesheet; I've tried it both manually and with the designer. Now I try to open a XML file in a book and it doesn't seem to use the stylesheet at all. It does ask me for the application type, I select it, then it simply opens the file as it was without applying the XSLT.Could somebody please explain to me how this is supposed to work?Background: I have a structured app set up by someone else that has the right structure already and they've already put it into a book. I want to write a XSLT to get the same file but with preprocessing instructions for conditional tags, but cannot get it to run. I'm good at XSLT, but my FrameMaker level is a novice.

Hi All,I'm running FM 12.0.3.424 (TCS5) in Win7-SP1. We use SolidWorks for CAD drawings, and I have been inserting U3D drawings in my FM files to output in PDFs with 3D interactivity. However, SolidWorks 2015 no longer provides U3D output, and to my knowledge this is the only import that FM supports for interactivity. I can get a 3D PDF from SolidWorks, but how do I get the drawing OUT of the PDF as a U3D, so that I can import it to FM? Is it possible...?Thanks,Rene

Why when optimizing a PDF file made by FM12 did I get the message:The PDF document contains JavaScripts that can cause problems while opening PDF in earlier versions of Acrobat.

I have a table with more than 200 rows and 6 columns from which I have to make extensive cross references from each cell in the fist column of the table to specific locations in a different table. Instead of doing this manually for 200 cells how can I automate this very tedious job.

The documentation for updateXRef (Adobe FrameMaker 12 * UpdateXRef) appears incorrect; it references the various constants for updateXrefFlags, however I believe this applies only to updateXRefs and not updateXRef, and this section should be removed.

not my day =8-} after sidestepping the page-size question by creative copy/paste, I was finally able to get started on what I'd earlier identified as the first task of the day. More bafflement, more behaviour I've never seen before …I have a style for a cover page that I normally adjust depending on the length of the content (yes, these pages have been Designed) after paste special to get the required text in. To my amazement, this familiar manipulation has this morning somehow contrived to apply word-wrap on a single line – in other words, if I type till the end of the line and carry on typing, FM thoughtfully hyphenates the last word and whisks the cursor back to the start of the line; no line-feed.Sympathetic comments, diagnostics and corrective advice welcome.

Framemaker 12 crashed on me while I was editing a relatively large book ~130 pages. There are many figures, tables and even some imported text. While I was inserting some more anchored frames the file crashed. I reloaded it, and everything looked fine, until I took a closer look and noticed: There are no periods! There is not a single period at the end of a sentence in my whole book! Any ideas for reversing the crash or inserting periods where they need to go? My first idea is to use the wild care search to search for anything that ends with a lower case, a space, and then a capital letter: [abcde...]|[ABCDE...]. I'm not sure how to past without deleting the letters. Any ideas?

Why does my character palette always bink and disapear in FM 11 structured mode?

how do I save a FM10 book as FM9 book including all its content?

Hi,I have FM 12.0.4.455I have a book that contains about 5 chapters.  Each topic within the chapters are separate files, beginning with a "home page" file which is really just the master page and nothing else. For example-Getting Started chapter----getting started home.fm <home page>----intro.fm  <content>----database.fm <content>-Installation chapter----installation home.fm <home page>----system requirements.fm <content>I would only like the 1st page to contain a Chapter number, so only the "home" files should display this information.  I also want the page numbers of each page to contain the chapter number + current page number, for example, 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 2-1, 2-2..For the numbering -First I used the autonumber format of <n=1>.0\t for the first chapter and <n+>.0\t for the other chapters.  This worked well, but it's stopping me from adding the chapter number to the footer because I can't figure out how to get it in the fo

I have used FM since version 5, but since FM9, the Graphics Toolbar continually resets itself to the defaults so that you need to constantly set the various tools that you use the way that you want them (color RED, line 3pt, line with arrow at one end, etc). Is this a bug? Or is there a way to make it stay the way that you set it? I use this Toolbar all through the work day, and it gets very irritating to have to constantly change how I want it.

How can I quickly and easily remove Paragraph and Character Styles in my Frame books?
