We check before conversion to ensure all cross-refs are working.  When the cross-reference comes in to DITA from FM, it looks like this: xref format=”dita” href=”MSC_c_Introduction.dita” scope=”local” type=”concept”But these do not work.When the cross-ref is created in either the CMS or in Arbortext, it looks like this:xref href=”MSC_c_Introduction#MSC_c_Introduction/MSC_c_Intro” outputclass=”fm:HeadingOnly”These work properly.Is there a way to get the cross-refs from FM to have the correct syntax? Or is this not a syntax issue? We would much rather use FM than Arbortext.TIA,Marsha

Hello ,W7, FM11.I think I might be doing something fundementally wrong, but I cannot change the size of a Side Head.I have already populated the document and can add a Side Head by Format > Page Layout > Column Layout... and checking Room for Side Heads.However, no matter what I change Width to, it always remains the same size.What am I doing wrong?

I have a relatively new Win 7 box, running TCS 4. So in Frame 11, I have checked out a book (using CMS/SharePoint) and everything checks out ok. But when I go to edit the files, they all have question marks and if I try to open them, the message is "cover.fm does not exist." for example.Also, a long file directory is showing instead of just the file name.Other users with similar setups are not having this problem.I can work with other books just fine, but not this one (which is the MAIN one I use FM for!).Help!

In PDFs I'm generating using FM 11, the word spacing for some paragraph tags widens.  I cannot see any difference in the paragraph tag properties.  Sometimes this causes the text to extend into the margin or even outside of the table borders as shown in the examples.Note that I'm using the "Save as PDF" option.Please see the attached examples which show the PDF output and the FM source of the same thing.  Notice that the extra word spacing does not happen to every paragraph.What causes this and how can I fix it?

Our department just lost two people; both with legal, active licenses for Tech Comm 4. IT is going to purge the systems for new users and I need to recover the software licenses before the systems are purged so that the software can be installed and activated for new users. I understand that the software needs to be deactivated to facilitate the transfer. The issue is in finding the license info. I don't know if the software was ever registered, or how it would be registered with, or even who the software was purchased from. I work for a very large multinational with a centralized IT department who originally pushed the installs out to these two user's computers and they have been less than responsive in getting the license info to us; waiting around for them to reply is not an option since we need to install the software ASAP for new users.Can anyone tell me how to recover these licenses?

The office where I work uses and automated process to import xml files into FrameMaker. When the xml is imported it formats correctly in the appropriate FameMaker template.In a FM template, there is a master page that includes a Running head that contains the main header and there is a smaller running header. Both use variables that extract the text from an element in the xml file that is imported and inserts the text into the text boxes. This master page is set up to be a left page. There is another master page in the template that is set up the same way except that it is set up to be a right page. It is applied when this first page needs to be a right page instead of a left page. After importing the xml into this template, the file formats correctly, with the left master page applied as the first page. The text imported into the headers formats correctly. When I replace the left master page with the right master page, the smaller running header text is duplicated. It displays where i

Is there a way to remove these elements after converting a Dita map to FM files? They clutter up the output, I would prefer a clean structure with tasks, concepts etc. as root elements for chapters.Perhaps somebody knows a script that searches for these files and unwraps them?Robert

Hi,I just trying to use webdav in one of my cq5.4 instance..Here what iam finding is when i upload an image from cq5.4 digital assets itz showing up correct in my webdav folder with generating the rendations for that particular image...And when use webdav folder to upload image it is showing u[p in the cq dam but rendetions are not getting created..Is there any solution for this..And images names which are showing with some 1.0 , 1.2 like names in webdav folder... I'm using Framemaker 11, and have tons of tables that need to be resized so that they fit within the text frame. Does anyone know of a script or a fast way to resize all the tables in a document at once?

Our group has a requirement from the government to output SGML data. Right now, the group from whom we're inheriting data are using UltraEdit to write the text, Arbortext to tag the documents as SGML, and outputting to Xysoft (XPP). The writers are separate from the "coders/taggers." We're hoping to use FM to reduce that process to a single doc for writing and output. There's another requirement to output to pdf, but Acrobat will handle that.Right now, my concern is finding a way to simplify this process. Can FrameMaker output raw SGML data? If 10 and/or 11 cannot, is there a version that can?Thanks for any help. I've done some research online, and from what I've read, it's a possibility, but then the tech support guy I spoke with said that neither 10 nor 11 is capable of outputting to SGML ... which is why I'm here.Any help is appreciated. In a FrameMaker book, how can I display filename without the file's  location on the hard drive? For example, The book would list:"MyFile.fm" instead of C:\windows\documents\Framefiles\XYZ Company\widgets\draft_2013_1111\MyFile.fmIf this cannot be done, then how can I get the book to list a name for the added file other than the name of the first heading in the file contents?

So this is really odd. I have a situation where I have a document that I am developing in Framemaker 10 several different paragraph tags are intermittently not printing when the document is physically printed. When I go to print the document from Framemaker 10 to a physical piece of paper some tags are printing partially or not at all. What makes this stranger to me is that when I print the document to a PDF, all of the content and tags show up in the PDF. Then when I try to physically print from the PDF, the tags do no print from that document as well. Typically the tags that are not printing are those that have been bolded, but are across several different tags. Also the problem is sometimes only to the first line of a tag, where if the tag carries over to a second line in the document, the text on the second line prints. Another quirky instance that shows up is where the text a line will print only parts of the text. The document uses the same type font for the entire document, Helv

I have nearly finished my conversion table but I'm having issues with two things: notes/cautions and lists. For simplicity and brevity, I'll discuss lists in another post.My <note> elements that have an attribute of caution are simply being formatted as a Level0 paragraph. My conversion table looks like this:I've stared at these for way too long to be able to determine why the Note paragraph tag is converting properly, but the Caution paragraph tag is simply a paragraph.TIA,Marsha

I'm making a structured Framemaker book with some of the chapters having tables with graphics in them. However, the system doesn't recognize the graphics in the table cells as valid elements. Anyone out there have any ideas?

I'm having several problems with my lists, both <ul> and <ol>. I'd appreciate any advice I can get.Any time I have a <p> element inside a <ul> or and <ol>, two things go wrong:1. The <body> element closes before the <p> element2. How do I install the Adobe PDF Creation Add-On printer instance in FM11? I don't recall NOT installing it, but I can't save any FM doc as a PDF. Unfortunately, the Help guide simply tells me not to delete the Adobe PDF Creation Add-On printer instance plug-in, which isn't very helpful at this point.Thanks.

Has anybody had to deal with longish autonumber texts in a narrow text frame [can't use a sidehead due to other issues]? I'm finding that the autonumber string [Facilitator/Self-Study Participant Note: ] doesn't wrap to the next line as shown in this screen capture:I've verified this happens in FM versions 6 through to 11. Unfortunately, I'm away from my resources for the week but don't ever recall coming up against this before. Any comments, help highly appreciated.

Hello.I have windows vista and adobe framemaker 9 installed with all updates.My problem is:when I put a vulgar fraction like two-thirds in round brackets, left bracket is not showing propertly - there are two question marks one over anotherright bracket is showing only top part correctly, bottom part is again question mark. (see on the screenshot) Please help me with this problem.

I am using framemaker 7.1 with windows xp on 1 computer and windows 7 on the other. Unfortunately I have to run on both because of 2 problems I have with windows 7 that does not occur on windows xp (my backup computer). Problem1: When I try to insert a video file by File - Import object - create from file - link and select the file -  (.flv file) it works GREAT on XP - but crashes on windows 7.  Problem 2: Every so often if I try to do a copy by selecting some text with my mouse, the program crashes. I have to do a control alt delete to exit the program. Unfortunately this is usually BEFORE I have saved my work. I have never had this problem on xp. The windows 7 has 8 gig of ram, and 1 tb hard drive, so that is not the problem. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
