Lightroom Classic

I would love an AI based feature which analyzed an image and took in rule of thirds / golden ratio and created a board of 6 to 9 crop options for an image.    I often find myself moving the crop around a lot to figure out where exactly I would like to crop it. What I miss with this is being able to side by side compair a few options.    I would love to have it leverage AI to make several suggestions where I could pick my favorites, compare them and choose one. I would probably still tweak it a bit after words, but would love to have a board of options automatically to speed up my process. 

Most of us rename and renumber files.  In my case, I use a naming format that includes a project name and a sequence number.  I might shoot an event in multiple sessions and upload each session images into LRC as a separate batch, but I'd like to number all the images for a given project sequentially.  So when I go into Library Rename to rename/renumber another batch of images, I would like the first number of this new batch to take off from where my previous renumbering ended.  Currently, I have to look up the last number of my previous import, do my new import, then renumber the files by manually specifying the next number to use, e.g., "437" or whatever.  That is a pain.  It would be much easier if LRC can remember this number and offer the next number as "Start number" by default, so I can simply click OK and get on with it.

Copy is disabled for all AI mask components (Subject, Sky, Background, People, Objects). However, Duplicate is available, indicating this is just a simple UI bug, not an as-designed implementation restriction on AI mask components.  Tested on LR 14.0.1 / Mac OS 14.6.1 and Windows 11:    

Hello everyone, this is a bug I think:   View on a MacBook Air M1 with display resolution set on "Default" (1440 x 900).   View with display resolution set on "More Space" (1680 x 1050).   So, using a default resolution we will never know that after the color labels ther's another attribute called "Kind" with other three options.

Please add keyboard shortcuts for basic tone and color adjustments, either for Develop module sliders or Library module click buttons. Photographers who do any volume of work in Lightroom know that mousing around is a pain. Unfortunately, 3rd party keyboard add-ons suck or are very expensive. Keyboard shortcuts for basic tone and color adjustments would offer much greater efficiency. By "basic tone and color adjustments", I mean: temperature tint exposure highlight recovery fill light black clipping brightness contrast saturation vibrance

For as long as I used Lightroom, there was always one catalog file: lrcat. And it was good. All I needed to restore catalog was one file.    Since IDK when there is another catalog file: lrcat-data   I learned this hard way, when I decided to format my disk and restore everything from backup.   Why 2 files which both store photo metadata, are kept separate? This does not make sense to me. Obviously they could be stored together in one file, which would make life easier.   Idea here is to merge them into one file and restore simplicity of one file approach.

Hello, I have often to do a perspective correction. 1) For me it would make sense if the option 'Constrain Crop' at Transform (named 'Constrain to Image' at Crop) would be active per default.  2) A other and may be better solution, introduce it to the 'Copy Settings' dialog box, please see my picture below. Hello I would to have the ability to paste all atributes in grid mode from one pic to another. Ctrl+Alt+v paste settings from one pic to another and would be nice if we could also paste the color label.   Also Would be nice to have this feature in the spary mode. All of these new Portrait features, and yet it is nearly impossible to remove dust from headshots (fabric) without a trip to PS, as LR starts to slow down with dozens of clone tool stamps. D&S is also useful to remove long exposure hot pixels that are not automatically identified (night photography, etc.). This would simplify my workflow for several different things I do daily (including not having two 16-bit files residing on my hard drive), and I would think that many people would find it useful.

Provide a way to create new pages completely from scratch by laying out the position of the picture frames and text frames instead of using just the provided templates. I like to do my own layouts that match the text. Also can we have double page layouts where they are linked and cannot be broken apart.

Hi,    might just be me, but I use shift-W to switch in an out of masks frequently. Of course, from time to time I hit command+W instead and LrC quits. Command+W is usually to close a window, but this makes no sense in LrC and quitting is a bit excessive. I'm sure most people would command+Q to quit.   Thanks   Geoff

I would like to request a new feature (if it already exists let me know) that prohibits Lightroom from sampling outside of the cropped area of a photo when using the Remove tools.    I always do retouching after I've made general exposure adjustments and after cropping. However, the remove tools sample from areas that have been cropped out or they blend areas in areas from outside the crop if the painted region is near the edge of the frame. This often means that you have to undo your crop to move the sample and make a more accurate adjustment of the sample point or to increase the area of the object that you're removing that removes all of it frame outside the crop. The AI tools incorporate the areas outside of the crop in their calculations of what is being filled in. So if I try to AI remove an object that is half in and half out of the crop at the edge of the frame, I have to delete what was already generated, undo the crop, then I have to repaint, AI generate, again, the

it would be nice to zoom directly to face, I lose time by moving image to find face. It would speed my work. Just pres Z and automaticaly zoom to face, or if there are many, so zoom to fit all faces.

Most have discovered that the resulting DNG file size from AI Denoise is approximately 4 times that of the original raw. ex) Sony A1 50mb photo run thru AI Denoise resturns a ~200b DNG.  This maybe fine for those with only a few photos run thru Denoise but for many it quickly starts to consume a massive amount of drive space.  I tested taking the DNG into Photoshop then saving as TIFF with no compression and the resulting files size was back to 57mb.    There needs to be an option in AI Denoise to have it internally create its output as a TIFF.

I have been using lightroom now for several yaers but one option which i wish would be created would be the option to have some favorirte folder options in the import dialog box. As I have two or three folder I use mainly for importing. but when I change from my sub folder in pictures for example to desktop and want to go back to my sub folder we have to go through the entire folder tree to get to that folder . So having a favorite folders option would make that easier. The same applies when a Card is connected to the computer. lightroom goes to the card first even so i do not need to go there. so then again have to look through the entire computer folders to get to my import folder.

When I'm culling I want to see my pictures in color aswell as black/white. My current workflow is to hover the mouse over a black/white preset, to see the preview on the main monitor, and the second will show it in color.   I think it would be nice if the there was an option to auto-overlay presets - or maybe even the embedded preview - on the second monitor to see if a edit would be right for a picture much quicker and already while culling. Maybe an addition to Grid/Loupe/Survey/Compare/Slideshow. The user selects the new tab and can choose from her/his preset list, and whatever gets chosen there doesn't get applied to the picture, it just behaves as if the mouse was hovering over a preset on the main screen. Now thinking further, there could be the original picture on the main screen, and like four previews for specific presets/edits on the second monitor to see simultaneously. 

why is auto tone so bad sometimes?it cranks up whites to +50 resulting in blown out face.... smh please improve it with some AI magic 😄

Tethered Capture in LR3 was a huge step forward for using LR to capture in a production environment. One UI feature that seems to have been overlooked is a keyboard shortcut for hitting the Capture button. Having to find the cursor and then drag it to the button to click is an annoyance (granted, a small one) when shooting multiple captures throughout the day.

As a 15 year veteran of Lightroom, this is one which would greatly help speed up the workflow process.   The idea: Have a section for edit requests within the Development Module to: Have the ability to Add requests for image editing from clients or team leader. (we would be typing in the requests or pasting them in.) Have the ability to make notes on each request for instance: you can make comments like - I am able to do this request with some modifications. Make comments on what was done to achieve the edit requests. Have the ability to check off requests as they are completed. Have a timer start button for each request, Have a timer stop when they are checked off as complete.   Why the development module?   Better efficiency means better productivity.   In a typical workflow sequence, once images have been selected and filtered, there is no reason to move out of the development module until work is complete.   Having to go back into, say, the li

1st choice would be a complete set of stack ops, but my present need is just to be able to expand a stack so a photo can be selected that's under another. Another solution to my immediate need (and some others) would be to have the 'setSelectedPhotos' method always expand stacks as necessary *and* make active whatever source is needed to make the specified photo(s) selected (at least as an option...).

Firstly, I have searched the discussions here and found plenty of gripes by others, but nothing indicating a workaround or that Adobe is doing anything about it, so please try to resist crucifying me for not being diligent.   Adobe Lightroom Classic 13.0.1; Build 202310121438 (but this behavior has been present for years)   Any time Lightroom is 'working', i.e. importing photos, removing photos from catalog, things that take minutes not seconds, I have found I can't even use Alt-Tab to switch to another window. When I do, the screen flashes and resets my attempt, prevents it, multiple times per second. When Lightroom is not actively working, it still takes two alt-tabs to get to another application in Windows. This behavior is unacceptable. I can only assume Adobe forced this behavior to 'help us', but how can they still believe this is helpful in any way? Although LR provides a way to preview an output by going into the UI that allows the parameters to be selected to export an image, it is rather cumbersome.  It would be very useful to provide a one-click preview of the contemplated export.  Capture One provides this with an icon that looks like a pair of eyeglasses.   LR has a "Soft Proofing" check box, but I don't know what if anything it does other than turning the background white.  I use my watermark / signature in three colors (white, black and gray), and I use one of them depending on the image.  Currently I don't have a good way to tell which signature might best work for a photo without first exporting it as a JPEG.  Instead, if the Soft Proofing showed me what the exported image actually looked like, I could change my watermark.   Hope this is useful input.

I'm sure most photographers who shoot thousands of images rename their files.  I typically have more than one camera and multiple lenses for each of my project, and before I start shooting, I synchronize all my cameras to the same local time.  When I bring up the raw images in LR, I sort them in the order they were shot, and I rename the images using the following convention:   YY-MMDD Event-#### (Camera, Lens) <other qualifiers>   For example: 23-0913 Istanbul-0563 (LEICA SL2,APO-SUMMICRON-SL 1-2-90 ASPH.) 23-0913 Istanbul-0564 (Fujifilm GFX100 II, GF35-70mmF4.5-5.6 WR)   There are very good reasons for me to be able to rename these files further with a "Search" and "Replace".  The camera and lens names (obtained from the EXIF data) are typically unweildy and create long file names.  I would like to be able to do a search and replace text strings, so I can streamline the names, e.g., into something like: 23-0913 Istanbul-0563 (SL2, SL90APO) 23-
