Hello All,Our company is looing into the FMS tecnology and installed the trail version, we have no problems vewing vod or live content but we do notice that no matter the quality of the video source that we take, once we play the stream, we see some horizontal lines that i could only describe as tearing.... the video does not lose smoothness or anything but you do see the lines and we were wondering if there is any way to reduce them or avoid them...in part of our testing we placed the same video on a windows media server and we can see it without said lines, we use the same encoder to encode into .wmv or .mp4, i dont think that this is encoder side issues, not only beacuse of this but beacuse when viewing the mp4 locally through a player you dont see the tearing either, any ideas?thanks.Best regards,Benjamin.
Hi GuysI hope this is allowed (checked the etiquette guide)....We are a digital design agency in Bristol UK - looking for a skilled freelancer or someone to join us part-time.We have three projects that we need help with at the moment and we are loooking to build a relationship with someone we can use for all our flash work. One project needs knowledge of Flash Media Server (or Wowser) and to be able to build a webcam streaming system. Can you help?dan@makemeglow.com Dan
Hi all,Can you give me a hint on how to solve this or confirm me the following ? Is it possible to limit globally the bandwidth usage of FMS 3.5 ?I don't want FMS to use all the bandwidth available via our ISP.I want my coworkers and other servers to be able to continue using Internet while sending/receiving data from/to FMSI know it is possible to limit various bandwidths per Applications, but it seems there is no easy way - using the xml config files - to globally limit the server bandwidth.Ok I could compute a limit per app, but it is not a long terme solution to modify all the config files each time a new applications is to be installed. So I think it is not possible to easily limit globally the bandwidth of FMS.Do you agree with me ?If not, how did you manage this : do you have an example, some code ?Thanks for your answersFred
Hi,The last FMS update is from January 28,2010Flash Media Server 3.0.5January 28, 2010 I already have FMS 3.5.3 but it from December 18, 2009What is the different between the 2 versions? Alon
I'm quite a newbie to FMS and I tried searching the forums, as well as, googling for this, so please forgive my ignorance.I've got:- FMS already installed on a XP server with IIS- FLV Videos residing in a folder on another serverHow do I:Stream videos from the other server where the videos reside? Thanks!
Let me start by saying I understand that this may not be the proper place to ask this question, but I am seriously at my wits end. It seems everyone who claims to be video streaming pros' don't know anything beyond ustream.. I am confident that you folks here know more than them seeing as you use adobe media server. I hope you can help..I am just one portion of a team of people who are trying to put together a live web seminar. I am mostly doing the web aspect of it since i am a web developer, but I am looking to learn a little bit more of the video part just so that I understand it. Basically I am looking to pick the brains of some of you who do semi-high quality live streams. We have a professional grade mini DV camera (i wish I had the name but i dont at the moment - will soon though). We also have audio mixers for quality sound. My main concern is the quality of the stream as viewed from the web. I read up about streaming and understand that it's best to stream from a tripod and
Hello to all,I want to make a Video Conferencing application in asp.net so i googled on it and then i found that Flash Media Server will be used for that. So can any one tell can we integrate FMS in asp.net.If yes please tell me the Step by Step procedureIf No then what is the alternative for that.ThanksRahul Jain
Hi there,I've been banging my head against the wall for several hours trying to figure this out, so I'm hoping some one will have an answer for me (it most likely is something very simple and easy)I've installed Adobe Development Server on Windows 7, and when testing RTMP on localhost, everything works well. For example the SharedBall samplethat comes with the package works fine if I open multiple browsers on the server's localhost. Here's my problem: when I connect from a remote location to my webserver and use the same application (SharedBall) it doesn't seem to establish an RTMP connection - so in other words, the application is not being shared with remote clients. The swf itself downloads to the remote browser and functions, but nothing is being shared over RTMP. Could someone be so kind to tell me what it is I am doing wrong with my configuration? Thanks in advance.
Hi,We're running Wowza to stream a live webcam from a Flex web application (using ActionScript 3 netStream method) for a 1 to 1 video chat.We are able to stream it properly, but the quality does not look good at all (320 x 240, 300 Kbps, 15 fps).We tried tweaking the paramenters (quality x bandwidth), but the quality is still surprisingly poor for a H.264 video.Just out of curiosity, we decided to use Flash Media Encoder 3 to generate a live stream from the very same computer, with the very same webcam, at the very same video specs. The quality is much, much better than the one using the ActionScript 3 netstream approach. The difference is amazing! So this leads us to believe that the problem is in the "encoder"; the Flash Media Encoder seems to be much for efficient in generating a high quality video stream, compared to ActionScript 3.My question to you guys is: are we missing something? Are there any parameters on ActionScript 3 or even on Wowza that can increase the quality of video?
HelloI am involved in project managment for a large video conferncing project involving over 100k simultanous connection and most likely to be increased 4 times by next six months. While figuring out the scalability area ,it was concluded that smart selection of hardware and origin-edge clustering will be suited most. Well while studying this documentation says it supports thousands of calls but unfortunately I could not determine the actual numbers. Can you tell me how many edge server will be needed for 100k simultanous calls/number of sessions per edge server and will we need license (4500$) for each edge server?Quick support will be appreciated.
I want to write a code in Flash to detect whether user's microphone is connected to system or not. My application records from users microphone, now while recording is accidentally or intentionally user's microphone gets unplugged from system then i want to show a message to user. Is this possible to do in flash. I have tried many thing but didnt succeeded. Few thing what i tried are mic.getMicrophone method, this method only returns the sound card of the system, but didnt tell you anything about microphone is connected or not.
The installation of FMS 3.5.1 r516 Development fatally failed on our Windows 2008 R2 Server. We tried an R1 server and that one installed with no issues. It gets past the MS C++ installer, then shortly after:Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: FMSMaster.exe Application Version: 3.5.1.516 Application Timestamp: 498a2199 Fault Module Name: KERNELBASE.dll Fault Module Version: 6.1.7600.16385 Fault Module Timestamp: 4a5be02a Exception Code: 80000003 Exception Offset: 00014159 OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.272.7 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 4c0d Additional Information 2: 4c0d4d78887f76d971d5d00f1f20a433 Additional Information 3:
Hi. Sense my company have desided to try the FMS (I set it up the other day), I have been reading on formats, bitrates and those kind of things today. I thought I understood things until I seen this thing that confused my world. A trailer of a move that was in 480p but FLV format (youtube)? Now they way I understood it was that 480p is supposte to be HD. A FLV file is not converted with the H264 Codec (wich is HD?), so how come it still counts as a 480p? It should be a F4V or MP4 right?Anybody care to explain this confusion of mine?I would like to ask more about this topic but I will go with this for now. I will add maby one or two questions later. Thanks
Is there any way to access a Flash Media Server server-side script through a C++ plugin? I know you can call server-side functions, but I want to use the plugin to do image processing, so I need to get bitmap data from the client to the plugin.I've been poring over the documentation and the forums and there doesn't seem to be any way for the plugin to communcate with the server other than to read Event properties. If this is the only way for the plugin to recieve data from the server, is there any way to override an event property to send custom data?
How to make getServerStats() API call?
Hi, I'm running FMS 3.5 on RedHat, and have some server side actionscript that is attempting to perform an HTTP GET on a remote URL, e.g:loadVars.send("http://someurl/");This works on a Windows XP development server, but not on the RedHat deployment server. Are there any configuration options that I need to be aware of in order to allow my application to perform requests such as these (i.e. HTTP requests to remote servers)? Thanks.
ok, so I got the broadcast running as SE suggested, everything is running smooth local and live except for one thing.every 45 seconds or so, I the encoder displays an error while broadcasting. the broadcast however continues, so I went to the error log in application.00.log. and this is what was there:Sending error message: Method not found(getStreamLength)I'm assuming it has something to do with the length of the file, when I look in the folder that saves the broadcast, is dozens of files that have approx size 1 mb. As the broadcast goes, I see the file being created, and then when it reaches about 1 mb, a new one is born.I looked everywhere, from server configure, to the fms.ini file, and couldn't find anything.....So my question is: why is this happenning and how can I fix it ?
Hi all -We are successfully using Captivate 4 to create SWF files leveraging a Flash Streaming Media Server hosted on a CDN. YAY!My question is, does anyone know how to leverage the dynamic streaming / adaptive bitrate feature in FMS 3.5 with a Captivate file? I have spent an entire day searching all over Adobe forums and am surprised to see this is not documented ANYWHERE and given Captivate REQUIRES FMS to stream, it would be incredibly poor design if it cannot leverage the best feature FMS has to offer! We publish to Flash Player 10, and while FP 10 IS compatible with dynamic streaming, my challenge is Captivate only allows one URI path and one stream name.To deliver dynamic streaming you have to have several files with different encode rates availalbe. But if Captivate only allows one stream name, how do you point it to a stream that finds all the alternative files?I've explored this with 3 different CDNs and th
Hi, I wan't to share the application over the network using as3 with FMS in such a way that events performed on application on one PC should also reflect on all the connected PCs. for example if I shared a notepad, the task performed by me on that notepad should be reflected to all the connected users and vice-versa, like remote desktop works.
I'm attempting to view Shared Object data in my FMS Administration Console, but I consistently get the error: Object encoding error; terminating connection I'm using Flex 3 with FMS 3.5, I'm positive that everything is using AMF3. The Shared Objects do seem to work - I can connect to the shared object through another instance of the app and pull saved data - but they are not inspectable in the administration console. Also, very often when a new instance connects to the server I get a RangeError and all of my Flash Player instances crash. Any idea what could possible be going on?
HiHow i can use IP Camera with FMS for live video streaming.............
Hi. My company are trying out the FMS to establish if we will use it in the future or if we should use a cloudhost. Now I was the person put in charge of this operation(a .NET developer). So please excuse my simple questions and my lack of knowledge when it comes to flash media. I figure who better to ask then the pros at adobe that made the product. This might be a long post. I promise all help and tips I can get is highly appricaited Setup: Amd Quad Core 2.20, RAM 1gb, windows server 2008, connections 8/4 dslQuestion one. My memory(%) usage are on steady on about 80%, what does that mean, to little RAM or?Question two.Is there any Specific Server Configurations I could do to the server to make it perform better?Question three. What specifics should I convert the FLV files into. Are there any "Default or general" so to speak? Frames, Bitrate, Picture ratio ect.. this is where I have no idea.Question four.We are maybe gone have about a 1k users on this maximum. How much bandwidth does
Hi i am totally new to media server, can I use normal flash video player I did or is this different, what I want is, if user drag the play head it needs to stream from that point (like you tube) please help
HI,friends: Finally I decide to post this request since few days later I still can’t get any solution within search in the forum or even by Google…hope someone can kindly give me some direction… I am planning to stream TV channels using FMS because customers prefer much better picture quality, actually as far as I know FMS can only accept live streaming by FMLE, this can cause serious problem that I must use video capture card to convert video signal form DVB-S receivers. You can imagine how poor quality the picture would be after capture card ? FMLE can only support devices including capture card, camera, analog TV tuner , but not DVB-S cards. So, I use VLC to directly get MPEG-TS stream from my DVB-S receivers, after H264/AAC encoding, re-stream to WOWZA, hence I can get RTMP stream output . OK, finally I have to instruct FMS to accept this RTMP stream and publish to my customers (use flash player built-in set top-box ). Flowchart like this:
According to flashmediaserver_3.5_config_admin.pdf (FMS 3.5.3), FMS determines the correct directory to use for streams in the following order:Virtual directory (as specified in <VirtualDirectory>)Storage directory (as specified in <storageDir>)Default location (the streams folder in the application directory)So I created a folder called streams in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flash Media Server 3.5\applications\vod. I thought this folder would be the default location for the sample application vod. I did not change any configuration settings for the application vod. Everything was set by the FMS 3.5.3 installer.I copied sample.flv into C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flash Media Server 3.5\applications\vod\streams and renamed it to sample6.flv. rtmp://{fms ip}/vod/sample6.flv did not play in the sample video player installed by FMS 3.5.3.Is this a bug or the default location "streams" folder is simply not "default", you have to set it somewhere in XML?
