But about every 6th time the app starts, the sharedobject.connect(nc) fails to connect. I can see it fails because it does not sync, as well, it does not register on the server. If have a try, catch on the connect and it shows nothing. What should I be catching??? I'm setting it up like this: My question, what am I missing to catch an error when the SharedObject.connect() fails? In AS2.0, the connect would return a true or false. In AS3, which I'm using, it returns null. nc.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, onStatus ); nc.connect(..... ); public function onStatus( event:NetStatusEvent ):void{ var info = event.info; switch( event.info.code ) { case "NetConnection.Connect.Success": connectSO(); break; .... } public function connectSO() { try { this.so = SharedObject.getRemote( this.sopath + "xxx", this.nc.uri, true); this.so.addEventListener(SyncEvent.SYNC, onSync); this.so.addEventListener(AsyncErrorEvent.ASYNC_ERROR, onAsyncError ); this.so.addEventListener(Net
Although I have already entered a help ticket after phoning my way across the sub-continent, I'm posting here because a)I submitted the ticket 4 days ago and have not received a reply nor even a confirmation that my ticket is in a queue, even though I was promised a reply 'within 24hrs' b)although your phone system says 'installation help is available over the phone' all that means is that you can talk to someone who will enter a ticket for you but not provide any actual help and c)no actual support engineers are available to speak with me unless I fork over another $300. When I enter the serial key via FMS admin console, I receive a message that the key was sent to the server for approval. Then nothing happens. Ever. What is SUPPOSED to happen when the key is entered? I have also entered the key ion the XML file...
I'm currently searching for a host that provides dedicated servers to host flash media server. I do not want to go with any of the CDN's or specialist flash host sides as I think their prices are a bit extortionate. I have come across http://www.fasthosts.co.uk/dedicatedservers/. my question is do their specs fit what i need to host FMS.
hello am working on a multi player game in flash cs3 and FMS 3.5, user can register, select their characters (small movieclips i have only one at this time and that is Fairy) and then login to game. every person can see character of all online users at his/her screen with username popped up at the head of characters. user can move his/her character on screen using arrow keys of keyboard but their movement is not synchronized and visible to all users. i want to synchronize character movements at all screens simultaneously. any positive response or help will be highly appreciated.. regards maani
Hi, In the FMS log I see status 401 (on connection) for some of my clients. According to the docs, 401 stands for "Connection rejected by the application script", What does it mean? What might cause that? Why some of the user works fine, and other don't ? Thanks, Ofer
I have FMS 3 installed and streaming archived files. I need to set it up to stream live feeds too. I have googled around and see some discussion on this, but it is all over my head at the moment. Are there some easy to follow docs on this subject that provide step by step, instructions ? I should say I am very familiar with other forms of streaming, including using Flash Media Live Encoder, which we utilize to send streams to mogulus. This question focuses on the FMS we have in house at our main office.
Based on what an Adobe vendor has told us, is it true that in order to stream a live broadcast of our church services we must have a server that captures the video at the church and that this server must have both the live encoder as well as the streaming server software installed on it, and that this same machine will push the live broadcast directly to our website? Basically what we are envisioning is to capture the video live directly to an encoding machine at the church; then have the encoded file pushed to our internet service who has the flash media streaming server installed on a machine at their location; the streaming server will then publish the live broadcast from their internet service location. Is this possible? And, if so, what is the best way to do this? example: Church -> Capture Live Video -> Encoder at Church location -> Internet Service Provider -> Flash Media Server -> Website -> Viewed by the public
I'm implementing a monitoring app for FMS using the FMS admin API. I have two questions: 1.- The getActiveInstances() method requires as a mandatory parameter the FMSCore processID number Is there any way to get all the running FMSCore processes using the admin API?, I didn't find any method to do this, but I know FMS knows the IDs because they are registered in the core.log file when the process is created. 2.- The getInstanceStats() method documentations says: "Beginning with Flash Media Server 3.5, you can dynamically control the core to which an application is sent. Controlling the cores allows load balancing across cores based on their performance counters." Does this mean I need to add performance counters at the OS level to find out which FMSCore is using the least resources?, If that is the case, how do I add a new application to an specific FMSCore, that is nowhere in the documentation. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
So, I'm working on an application that uses the DVR functionality of FMS 3.5, and am stuck. The publishing side of the system is working fine, and I can get a very simple playback working as well (by connecting to the FMS app, attaching a NetStream to my Video object, and calling ns.play(streamID, 0, -1). However, I need a rich UI to control the video playback. The FLVPlayback component looks like it would fit the bill nicely, but I can't get it to connect to my stream. I've tried hardcoding all the parameters via the Component Inspector in Flash CS4 to play back a specific stream I've recorded, and all I get is a never-ending buffering bar. What I really need to do is instantiate an FLVPlayback component via AS3 and attach a NetStream to it. Or, at the very least, connect it to a DVR-enabled stream and then script some controls (e.g. jump-to-a-specific-offset). Is there an easy-to-follow guide to doing this, or could anyone give me the 2-minute rundown? Many thanks! -Dan
Hello, is it possible to build a screensharing application using FMS?
Hi, I want to implement an interactive Video conference in my website. I am Beginner in PHP, MYSQL and FLASH. It would be great if any one could give me answers and solutions for below questions: 1. If there are seperate server sites which only handle with video conferencing and i need to integrate with my seperate webhosting provider where my website is getting hosted. Then how can i do it? what would be the costs that that would i have to invest for supoose there are 1 presenter and 100 viewers. 3. Alternatively, I would like to get help from anyone in doing below steps. a) Add a flash player in my webpage, so that it can record the video, audio stream from a webcam, microphone. b) send to webhosting or videoconferencing supporting server. c) publish the live video, audio stream to the people who are requesting to see it live. Ex: I m presenting a topic in front of a webcam and n number of users in my site can

Thanx for your time Rick
Greetings all. I'm a FLASH designer and have been approached by a client that is interested in developing a FLASH application to do roughly the following: - automatic conversion/encoding video files on upload to his server info FLV files ready for playing in the FLASH application. is there a server-side application that needs to be in place for this to happen? He wants users to upload their own videos and have them converted on-the-fly - the ability to play the FLV (select from a library of them) including traditional playback controls (frame by frame, slow/speed control, zoom in, mirror/flip playback, etc). I know much of that can be done inside the FLASH movie/application itself but here are the "kickers" - draw on top of the FLV (like make circles and squares and lines and paths of different colors, text boxes, etc) ex: user plays a video and pauses on frame 38. then draws on a layer on top of the video that is then tied to that frame. every frame that is drawn on top of gets a
Can two FMS interactive servers work this way: 1. they both serve the same VOD flv file existing on both machines 2. whe one server gets X users connected, next user (X+1) is routed to the next server 3. there is no hardware for the load balancer Is this possible and if it is, how?
Hi, everybody, I have a problem with live video streaming (accessing live stream from LAN or WAN) and I have the following configuration: Computer (some older Gericom laptop): Intel Celeron 1.7 GHz RAM: 768 MB Software: - Windows XP SP2 - Adobe Flash Media Streaming Development Server 3.5 - Adobe Live Media Encoder 3.0 Camera: Sony Handy Cam DCR-HC35, connected through Firewire port Encoder has these options set: - Stream to Flash Media Server: checked - FMS URL: rtmp://localhost/live - Stream: livestream - Save to File: unchecked Inside server's webroot I have a page live.html and I'm using a sample flash video player supplied with the product (webroot/swfs/videoPlayer.swf). HTML source of the page live.html is as follows: <html> <body> <object width='640' height='377' id='videoPlayer' name='videoPlayer' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' classid='clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000' > <param name='movie' value='swfs/videoPlayer.swf' />
Hi, I have a few questions, I have scanned the FAQ and knowledgebase but I did not find the answers there. 1) Is it possible to install multiple FMS instances on one Windowz box? Specifically, we have a 1.5 license, can we install a 2.x license on the same box and run both simultaneously? 2) Are licenses transferable between platforms? Specifically, can a 2.x Windows licence be used to re-install FMS on a linux box? Thanks in advance, regards, JM
Im looking to evaluate both products and get the pros and cons between using each platform Aside from the obvious which is cost what can any tell me about using either or technology. Primarily im going to be streaming various flash video files ranging from 512x288, 1280x720 and 1920x1080 video files and down the road i will be doing live web cam streaming. Let me if i need to post more info about plans and usage to be able to get a comprehensive comparison
Hi to all, I am trying to get the Stream.length of an MP3 file type but using also a virtual path that is assigned to the Vhost.XML. After many tries i only manage to make it work only if the MP3`s are sitting inside the FMS_root_directory_applications_myMusicApp into a folder with the name "streams" wherever else i use the code that i am writing below it returns "0 seconds" as the Stream.length of every MP3. In the main.asc i use this code : application.onConnect = function(newClient, userObject, name){ if(userObject.userType == "Test_Music"){ newClient.virtualKey = "Music"; newClient.name = name; newClient.getTheLength = function(streamName) { trace("The "+streamName+" Total Time is "+Stream.length(streamName)+" : seconds"); return Stream.length(streamName); } } application.acceptConnection(newClient); } In the Fla. file i use this to get the length: var V_Path:String = "Music/"; var TheSound:String = "MyMp3"; var streamName:String = "mp3:"+V_Path+TheSound; nc.c

I use Pinnacle MovieBox Deluxe for capturing my DC camera signal. It is recognized by other applications like windows media encoder but Flash Media Live Encoder says, that there is a problem with the connected camera. Is the MovieBox not supported? Thanks, Stefan
We have built an internal application that uses Flash Media Server 3 to allow people to create their own internal podcasts. The app is written in Flex and uses netstream.attachaudio to record the audio from the client to the FMS right through the browser/computer mic. The problem is that sometimes the users speaks to low/loud etc. Are there any options for me to 'normalize' the sound levels either dynamically during the record of the stream or via a post processing after the stream is done. any suggestions out there?
Abstract: I tried to publish netstream I receive at one application under the different name to another application on the same server and then in the end of publishing I tried to remove stream using NetStream.publish(false) command Here is a code that I use which explains the problem: var nca = "rtmp://originApp/myInstance"; // When the application starts I opens new connection to another application // which will be used later for publishing application.onAppStart = function() { publishedStreamsList = new Array(); // two parameters used to perform security check on other side nc.connect(nca, "someIdentifierUsedToSecurityCheck", 12345); nc.onStatus = function(info) { if (info.code == "NetConnection.Connect.Success") { } else { if (! nc.isConnected) { trace("nc.onStatus - FME, failed"); } } } } // As soon as new client was connected I accepts connection // and save reference to net connection opened to remote server on the level of this client application.onConnect = func
Hi, I have a little Flash 8 FLVPlayback-based video player, designed to read a list of video URLs (pointing to a demo version of FMS 3.5) from XML. The player works the first couple of times you select a video but then stops displaying anything when you select more videos. The seek bar seems to move but there is not picture or sound. You can see it here: Test player My ActionScript is as follows: var vidList:XML = new XML(); vidList.ignoreWhite = true; vidList.onLoad = function() { //populate array from XML var videoArray:Array = this.firstChild.childNodes; //iterate array and add videos to the listbox for (var i = 0; i<videoArray.length; i++) { videoList.addItem(videoArray .attributes.desc, videoArray.attributes.url); } //XML loaded, so play first video myPlayer.play(videoList.getItemAt(0).data); textUrl.text = videoList.getItemAt(0).data; videoList.selectedIndex = 0; }; var vidListener:Object = new Object(); vidListener.change = function() { myPlayer.play(videoL
