Hi, I have installed Flash Media Server 3 Developer Edition on a server to test out some flv files but cannot seem to access the files from another web server. I have not created an application in FMS3 but have placed the videos files in the VOD Media folder. Could this be a firewall issue and if so what port do I need to open up? Kind regards James (UK)
Hi all, I'm able to play a flv file using the sample player embedded in vodtest.html in the sample application folder. However, I don't want the user to input the link manually. So I tried to use another player JW_FLV_Media_Player. However, the flv file can't be played. Here is the code to embedded the player in html: <script type="text/javascript"> var so = new SWFObject('../flash/player.swf','mpl','480','360','9'); so.addParam('allowscriptaccess','always'); so.addParam('allowfullscreen','true'); so.addParam('flashvars','&file=rtmp://192.168.0.164/vod/sample.flv'); so.write('player'); </script> Highly appreciate if anyone would help. Thanks. Stephen
Hello. I have been researching lately for a product/add-on/plug-in that would allow me to toggle video sources during a live broadcast to adobe flash media server 3, with adobe flash media encoder 2.5 Specifically, I was hoping to discover a way to toggle, during the broadcast, between the video source (high quality webcam) and the desktop of the computer being streamed from. If anybody has any idea as to making this happen, or has done it successfully, please help me out.
Hi Guys, I have this video conferencing chat application but im struggling to find any documentation on how the one user would send a webcam request where the other user has to accept this before publishing the stream. If anyone knows how this is done or where any examples are please could you let me know. Thanks.
I've got live streams up on my website (using FMS3), but very occasionally, I'll get a complaint that someone can't view the streams. The swf player is loading, but the stream is not. The user updated to the latest Flash player and still no luck. My first thought is that they have a firewall blocking RTMP requests. So today I mucked around and got the HTTP tunnelling going (RTMPT), hoping it would resolve the issue. Well it didn't, same results, even over port 80. So I guess I have a couple of questions: 1) Does anyone know of a non-firewall-related reason that users (at least 2 different users in 2 different locations) might not be able to view RTMP or RTMPT streams? 2) Does anyone know how I can troubleshoot this further? 3) Does anyone have any sample streams (running on FMS3, preferably live streams) I can point the troubled users to in order to test if it is ALL streams or just the ones from MY server? 4) Can you guys test my streams and tell me if you can't see them? http:

I need to be able to stream a live feed to the streaming server and have it also be recorded for later on demand playback. I need to be able to apply markers to the on demand files via XML or similar method, so that advanced seeking can be performed without waiting for the file to be fully downloaded. I need to basically be able to provide a table of contents for 2 to 3 hour City Council meetings, and the end user would be able to jump to any agenda or section of the video that is listed in the table of contents. The feature list for Adobe Streaming Server has something called Advanced Seek, which I assume would allow this type of scenario. Can anyone point me to any references that might be useful for designing this type of application? Thanks, so much for reading.
I wanna know if I can make a working video chat for the Flash media server? If so, how to do? Is there any working solution existing? If anyone give some tips or solutions, I would appreciate very much...
Hi there, I've been testing FMS2 on Linux (CentOS). I figured that since CentOS is in essence RedHat that I shouldn't have any trouble. The good news is that it all seems to have installed nicely. When I attempt a ./fmsmgr list it gives me a couple processes that are running and everything. I can even login to the administrative system. The issue is rtmp service over 1935 isn't responding. I attempted to connect with a simple application I wrote but it constantly fails. So I checked the logs and I'm basically getting this: Apr 28 09:20:04 as 257[25875]: Server stopped . Apr 28 09:20:44 as 257[4028]: Server starting... Apr 28 09:20:44 as Server[4028]: No primary license key found. Switching to Developer Edition. I have a RH EL4 server with a Xeon processor and 4GB RAM and am trying to get FMS3 to run. I installed the software and then went back and installed the compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-47.3.i386.rpm and mozilla-nspr-1.7.6-1.2.5.i386 and then copied the libasneu.so.1 into the /lib directory. I uninstalled and reinstalled FMS3 and that seemed to fix all the error messages, but now the server just aborts on start. The log file says: Jul 15 08:22:46 host Service[8807]: Server starting... Jul 15 08:22:46 host Service[8807]: Server aborted. The server is running as root with the group root. everything else was left as the default.
Hi, I am running the Flash Media Server 3 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4. After installing the server, I tried the sample Video On Demand application remotely (vodtest.html). It does not work. I get a "connectionError" The server is running. I can check that in the web based Admin console. I do not see the number of connected clients increase at all. It stays at zero. The server does not have the firewall enabled. How do I test the sample vodtest.html remotely? I do not want to use localhost. Even when I tried localhost, that did not work either. What url do I put in my browser? Thanks
Hi, at first sorry for my bad english. I hope, you'll understand my request anyway. I produce live streamings of events with des FMS3 and the Flash Media Encoder 2.5 in the new H.264 format. Addionally I save the files (.f4v) on my local machine. After the events I want to work with these files, before uploading them to a OnDemand Server. I need to cut some scences, rearrange them and so on. My problem, I do not find any tool for those modifications. I tried Adobe Premiere Pro, but it can not import the files. I also tried to rename them in .mp4. But no success. Can anybody help me! Thanks a lot, Markus
is the live application just like the VOD one? I want to encode live content with the flash media encoder to my flash server and access it from a client. Do i use the same procedures as a vod? IE, using flash cs3 to publish an html which i then put on my web server. There seems to be very little in the way of tutorials and documentation on this. Can anyone help me out?
Hello all, I have made a chat application written in AS2.i have a seprate java server for my application. i m using XMLScoket object to connect flash client to java server. var clientSocket:XMLSocket = new XMLSocket(); System.security.loadPolicyFile("xmlsocket://mysite.com:80"); clientSocket.connect("mysite.com",8080 ) My problem is that when i try to connect to java server, i get the "<policy-file-request/>" from the flash client and socket just sits there waiting. strange thing is that this seems to be a problem with flash player 9 in IE only.it workes perfectly fine with mozilla, netscape, safari and opera. The crossdomain file is inside root folder of tomcat. Both flash client and java server are in same domain. If we comment code for loadpolicyfile in AS2 then still problem is same please help me on this issue thanks in advance
Hello We are about to do a big investment into the media server and the hardware to run it all. I am looking at some quad core xeon servers with 8gig of ram. In order to get use of more than 4gig or ram you need to run a 64bit os. I would like to run server 2008 in 64bit but the specs say server 2003 32bit. Can flash media server run in 2008 ? or even 2003 64bit. It seems a little crazy if it doesnt. surly people would want to run the server with more than 4gig ram including the improved performance of 64bit.
I am very new to FMS and need some pointers on where to go now i have the product installed. Currently i have FMS installled on a server and can access the Flash Media Administration with no problems. I have setup a webcam on a desktop and used the Adobe Flash Media Converter to streram the output to the FMS, giving it the FMS URL as rtmp://<ip address>/live/livestream which connects fine. Here is where i have the problem. I have run the URL rtmp:localhost/live/livestream on the FMS server but all it says is 'connecting'. I have also tried running the livetest.html from the ../samples/applications/live directory but this again just shows 'loading' at the bottom of the screen. This setup really is just a test for me to try and get an understanding of the FMS etc, what i will really need to do is take a feed from an IP camera to the FMS and then stream this out to multiple desktops. Can anyone help with with the above issue and also proivde some pointers for me to progress with
hello; anyone know of a good resource to get the abc's of stream buffering? I don't really get what a buffer is for, what it holds, why it is holding it, who needs it ( the server or the user's computer ), is an empty buffer good or is a full buffer good, etc/ I seem to be getting NetStream.Play.Stop events even while the flv is playing, and it seems that buffer has something to do with it; thanks dsdsdsdsd
I have a single instance of an application where I see the following the logs twice: 2008-07-01 10:54:24 15895 (s)2641173 Scalability Test Node Running: 10.50.1.71 - ... 2008-07-01 10:54:25 16135 (s)2641173 Scalability Test Node Running: 10.50.1.71 - Between those two logs messages there isn't any shutdown messages. I have an Application.xml that specifies to load this application on startup. If I startup my server I have only one instance running by looking at it through the admin console. However, once another FMS server connects to this server another instance spins up. And now I have two instances running. Why is that happenning? How can I get it to only startup one? If I connect another server would it spin up another instance? Can I enforce only one instance? Thanks Charlie
Can anyone tell me where the docs are for the VideoRecord Component for FMS2 are? I can't understand why Adobe would put such a component in, but then not make it quick and simple to setup and use. How do you tell this component what to name the file? Where to store the file? Or do I have to spend days writing their ridiculous action script that they end up changing with every version of their products?
Hi everybody! First of all sorry for my english. I'm trying to program a mp3 live player in AS3 for a radio streaming through Flash Media Streaming Server, I'd like to use soundMixer.computeSpectrum() feature and (after diving along lots of forums) I've seen that I need to uncomment the p_client.audioSampleAccess() line in main.asc applicattion in live folder. The problem is that we have a Flash Media Streaming Server licence, not a Flash Media Server licence, so we only can use Adobe signed applications. I have also tried to put AudioSampleAccess tag in Application.xml file as this <AudioSampleAccess enabled="true">/</AudioSampleAccess> but still doesn't work. Is there any way to do this with FMSS, or do we need a FMS licence? Thanks in advance for your answers
In the FMS3 documentation they talk about a FMSCheck program to monitor server health. I'm looking for a tool to do the same with FMS2, does such a tool exist? Does that program work with FMS2?
Hi, I am newbie to flash media server,i want to know how to stream the live content as below, A->Server,B->System where i am getting the live feed,C->System where user wants to see the live feed, System is getting the live feed from the camera..it will encode that and give out the live feed to FMS i.e. system A in the from of a .sdp(session description protocol)(encoded content is in 264(video) and aac(audio))..so in FMS server i have sdp file..when i open it in FMS Server(system A) in VLC player it starts playing. Now i want FMS to use this and stream the content that it is getting from system B..to system C..(n number of clients)....any one knows whether i can directly use sdp for streaming in FMS.

Hi, I'm new to Flash, could someone suggest what product is more suitable for my needs. Basically I'm looking at creating a live streaming app, some sort of video conference where two clients would talk to each other using webcams and microphones, video and audio would be streamed through a server. Which product would I need for something like this: streaming server or interactive server? Thanks.
Is 2 x Intel Xeon 2.0GHz quad core CPU enough for FMS 3 streaming editon? someone pls answer...
