Hello, I'm trying to have it so that I don't have my flvs just on the computer with FMS. I'd like to set up a shortcut from the applications folder to a shared network drive. But, I'm not sure what's the problem, but I think it has to do with setting permissions for the folder. FMS might be blocked by a password issue. Is it possible to have FMS look for flvs in a mapped network drive?
I'm installing fms2 for the first time on a Redhat EL4 server (update 4). The install went pretty smoothly and I've started the admin port up, but when I connect to the admin port (via IE or Firefox) I get the following message: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> - <result> <level>error</level> <code>NetConnection.Connect.Rejected</code> <description>Admin user requires valid username and password.</description> <timestamp>Tue 13 Mar 2007 02:47:23 PM CDT</timestamp> </result> I'm pretty sure this points to something in an apache config. What do I need to install or configure? thanks.
Hi all, Can someone kindly help me with this problem? I have written an application that republishes a live stream. When I connect to the republished stream, I can view it for about 30 seconds and then it freezes when the subscriber receives a "NetStream.Play.UnpublishNotify" for no apparent reason. Here is a stripped-down version of the application the reproduces the problem: main.asc: application.onAppStart = function() { var stream = Stream.get("republish"); stream.play("publish", -1, -1); } When the capture client publishes to "publish" and the subscribing client subscribes to "republish" the live stream plays for about 30 seconds and then freezes when it receives a "NetStream.Play.UnpublishNotify" message. I am at my wits end with this problem. :( Any and all replies are much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Barry
We have a 23 min FLV file 320x240 30fps that is stopping in the exact same spot after about 2 minutes of play. We're not too up on programming varibles with action scripting. This is the longest file we've ever posted. We have 10 min. FLVs playing fine. Any ideas on how we can force the file to play the whole 23 minutes. Thanks!
Hello, all! I have a question on FMS2. I have a web cam with MPEG4 or MJPEG streaming output format. Does can FMS2 on-the-fly convert these formats in VP6/7? Thanks. PS: Sorry for my bad English.
hi, i installed FMS 2 and find it very easy to record and publish video steam, it all works fine on my local computer. when i open the ports 1935 in my router and open the fire wall to it i am still unable to contact to the server from the web, i insert the right ip (from whatismyip) in the client app and tried to connect via rtmp to my computer ...nothing!!! localy it works!! remote no!! please i need your help!!
Hi, I'm trying to upload a video stream from a flash client and convert the video stream on the fly (from an external converter like ffmpeg or vlc). Since I don't manage to send the stream directly to the converter, a solution I have found is to publish the sream as "record", and have a converter read the file to perform the operation. However, when setting the record method for publishing, the recorded file is not written continuously. Incoming stream is buffered, written, buffered, written and so on. So, the program reading the file stops it reaches the end. Is there a way in FMS2 to either: - forward incoming RTMP stream to a stream converter (using an outgoing RTSP stream or something like that) ? - force FMS2 to dump the stream continuously, as soon as it receives the incoming data ? Thanks for any help, Greg
Hi all, Im using Flash Media Server to stream MP3s for a completely web enabled jukebox. The trouble is some of my MP3s have "." in their filenames. For example I have a file called: Music/O/One Minute Silence/Buy Now... Saved Later/12 - On Deaf Ears This will not play. I have tested with other files, as soon as a . appears in the name it will not play. Ive tried escaping the filename by replacing "." with "\." this also didn't work. Any ideas? Cheers Spanner
When I try to upgrade to the latest version of FMS there is a warning that the current version will be uninstalled in order to complete the upgrade installation. So, I have not proceeded with the install, till I checked that uninstalling will NOT erase configuration, log and custom applications and application data created in the current version. Just looking for a little reassurance before proceeding. Thanks
Hi people, I am getting a status code of "NetStream.Buffer.Flush" This isn't documented anywhere. Can you explain the meaning of this status code? Is related to an empty buffer condition? Tks,
I have a flash media server that I'm sucessfully using to stream .flv videos. Now I'm wondering how to set up an application on my FMS to stream live video using the new encoder. I have the new encoder and the server - I just need some basic instructions on how to make the two work together to get a live stream working. The encoder is local and the FMS is at a colocation facility and I have remote access. Cheers, Jim
Hello all, I'm new to the forum, and very new to SWF. We are wanting to use FMS to stream live audio, nothing fancy or complicated at this point, just basic encoding --> FMS --> client. I"m totally green to this product, I do have a programming/network/hardware background so I'm quite fine with learning some Actionscript if I need to for custom frontends. I was hoping someone could point me towards more specific information on actually using it to stream. I find the FMS pdf manuals excellent for reference, but they seem to assume some aspects of the setup, like a webserver, etc. Any general steps and info on making streaming live audio (video as well, it would be the same basic idea) happen would be appreciated.
I borrow the old Flash Communication Server book for reference and follow its example. I create the folder named "simple" as "C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash Media Server 2\applications\simple". And then create a file "main.asc", inside is "load("component.asc"); ". Then i create the Flash file with the SimpleConnect component, the PeopleList component and the ConnectLight component. Also i change the Application Dirtectory to "rtmp:/simple" and add the PeopleList and ConnectLight to Comunication Component of SimpleConnect. However, after testing it, the PeopleList do not show the login name. But the console showed that there is one loaded. What is the problem....? Anything need to set up, like the environment varable?? Thank you very much!!
Hi all, Could someone assist in detailing the exact procedure of configuring FMS to use Camtasia (screen capture) as a live feed for FMS that will then be streamed to a Flash Streaming player on a web page? Hugs garenteed for the expert answer :) Thanks a bunch, Ido.
Hi experts, I have read the part on Delivering video based on bandwidth in Developing Media Application Flash Media server documentation. I try to apply the thing it suggested, i added the following to vhosts.xml: <VirtualKeys> <Key from="WIN 6,0,0,0" to="WIN 9,0,0,0">fp</Key> </VirtualKeys> <VirtualDirectory> <Streams key="fpslow">video;c:\streams\videoslow</Streams> <Streams key="fpfast">video;c:\streams\videofast</Streams> <Streams key="">video;c:\streams\videofast</Streams> </VirtualDirectory> in c:\streams\videoslow and c:\streams\videofast , there are 2 different files encoded in different kbps. I have tested this part and it actually work. However, when i try on the next part on adding bandwidth detection procedure, i am not able to addin the virtualkey to my client. Below is part of my main.asc, To make thing simple, i remove the bandwidth detection procedure and simply try to force virtualkey to "fast",
Hi, I managed to install FMS2 on a linux server, I can connect to it by using the console, but I don't really know how to do what I need. My questions are: Where do the videos go? could I stream a range of videos within a folder? Do I need to Install an aplication? My goal is: I have a mediaplayer embed on a web page that is used to display several different videos, right now, this player is progressive downloading the videos, but I would like it to stream them. Can you guys point me to the right direccion? Thanks, -David
Hi Guys, I am new to this and want to find out briefly what is FMS-, its nature and function as I am trying to get some flv to play in one of my school projects that I just uploaded. This should be the place I can find enlightenment, Thanks. Any help will be appreciated..
Hello, I am running the free FMS2 server for development purposes, hoping that it proves well enough to buy a licensed product before we launch our product to assist in streaming videos and mp3s (we might even implement some other applications in Flash 8 Pro given that we already bought a copy of Flash 8 Pro for this task alone). Current, I am only able to stream live events with FMS 2.0.4 r79. The next part of my project adds the availabilty of stored content (aka on-demand; from what I understand). However, all of my attempts at streaming .flv files from FMS2 by using either FLVPlayback component with a contentPath set to rmtp://x.x.x.x/test/streams/cafe_townsend_chef I have omitted my server's public IP address. In another test, I tried adding the .flv file extension to contentPath. My clients fail to connect with either format. I have also used the stage and actionscript to test the stream with, it still fails, but here is a sample of my code with tracing: connection_nc = new
Hello. I need to record video from a webcam locally, then allow a user to SAVE and then upload to the server. I have heard that this is possible, but most people's first reaction is that Flash only allows saving direct to the server. Any help out there?
HEY I HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP ME!! I AM NOT A TOTAL COMPUTER IDIOT BUT I HAVE WINDOWSXP AND EVERY TIME I CLICK ON INSTALL FOR FLASH, THE INSTALLATION SUCESSFULL BOX COMES UP BUT IT WAS NEVER INSTALLED. I NEVER GET AN ERROR MESSAGE OR ANYTHING. THERE ARE ALOT OF WEBSITES I CANNOT GET ON WITHOUT FLASH AND I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING IN THE SUPPORT SUGGESTIONS. MY COMPUTER IS NEWER AND EVERYTHING ELSE IS IS WORKING PROPERLY. I FIGURED MAYBE I AM OVERLOOKING SOMETHING REALLY SILLY. THANKS ALOT SARAH
Hello Forum Members, We have a problem with LiveStreaming and Lost Packages. In our company we broadcast live streaming events in wmedia and also in flash. For that we use a router which connects via ISDN to our fms2 platform. We use ISDN Channels because of the need of a safe connection without net fluctuations and a good upload. (wmedia 500k and flash 500k = 1Mbit/s upload) So we use for one ISDN Wire both B Channels = 128kbit/s and overall 12 ISDN Wires = 1536kbit/s for both streams (a little bit more as needed for the overhead). Wmedia works fine but flash makes problems - many frame drops / image freeze / bucking. We think the problem is the connection to the fms over many different channels so that some packages of the one channel arrives the fms earlier than another - and so the fms dosen't get the stream in linear way. The fms pushes the stream to the client - the client has the possibility to buffer the stream (setBufferTime()) but when the fms sends a faulty stream - the
I am creating a service to allow people to record audio and video. The video recorder works great. The audio only recorder never seems to enter the following state NetStream.Record.Start So the file is not saved on the fms. When i run the flash locally with the test feature of Flash it does enter that state and it works fine. However when I plublish it out and run it from a site it doesn't, any ideas? Thanks Bart
hi guys, we are using FMS2 to record users straight from their webcams, with audio. We are experiencing problems while trying to encode the flv to avi format via ffmpeg. FFmpeg returns an unknown audio codec error. i read on the ffmpeg mailing list that this is due to the flash server audio being nellie-moser, and that adobe/macromedia were due to release a tool which would convert this to mp3 or likewise. anyone found a solution to this problem which enables ffmpeg to reencode the videos successfully? thanks
Hi FMS coders... I was lookng for a shared scratch pad, like flashcomguru has. I found a tutorial at macromedia's website, they teach how to make a line and a freehand drawing methods, but teach only how to make the lines shareable, and i dont want to draw lines, i want the freehand type of drawing... Do you understand? I just want to share my drawing.... i want be the only one who can draw, and let people only see what i have draw. And I was thinking about using NetStream.send to deliver the drawings(its going to be recorded)!!! So i think it's all I need that to draw over some slides!!! so thank you fot your patience
I just installed trial FMS on my XP Pc and I also installed IIS. I can login FMS control fine and see the applications ( this website sample code) that are inside applications folder. Unfortunately, the applications were not working, although the server seemed fine. I study Macromedia Press book, I found it was supposed to respond to a ping in the control panel. Yet, it always show "failure to ping server Server1." I am new to FMS. Right now I just want to get the sample code work . Any help will be highly appreciated. Mac123457
