We are buying the flash media server but i need to know should i be hiring someone to program this or are there good enough tools out there. Thanks for all your help Pat
Hi, good I am editing sample_broadcast and I obtained to make all the editions that I wanted the only problem in the PresentationSWF component that does not limit the size of archive SWF to be presented, then if archive SWF will be greater that the PresentationSwf component finishes passing the edge. I go to explain here what I want to make. 1. I have an archive of PowerPoint 2. I made the conversion for SWF, the Swf was with the size of 800X600 (example) The PresentationSWF Component has 550X400 When I load the SWF converted for my application looks at what it happens: http://img479.imageshack.us/my.php?image=imagemqi0.jpg Somebody knows as to limit the size of the SWF to be shown? I believe that this is in the code of the PresentationSwf component. Very Obliged, Wesley
I have downloaded Flash Media Server 2 and installed it but I have no way to tell if its working and I have no way to get started. I downloaded the samples and tutorials from this website and installed them correctly in the application folder. Not one works. None of them are able to connect to the server. Could it be because the samples were created for Flash Communication Server. There doesn't seem to be any current information about Flash Media Server 2. I've been looking for 3 days for a Hello World media server application and have not found anything. Can anybody help me out? Please no links to book stores, imcomplete samples, or obsolete samples. I have enough of those already.
Hello buddies, In a rather heavy media communication app (with about 500 concurrent users), is it better to use more than one NetConnection for in/out Streams or it doesn't really make any difference? Thank you so much
Hi All, I'm an expirienced developer in Flash, but recently I was forced to deal with Flash Media Server. I'm quite excited but I have one really stupid question: I want to have an application which will call client's function and pass a parameter to it. Any replies are warmly welcome! Here is what I have : // APPLICATION application.onAppStart = function() { trace("onAppStart> " + application.name + " is starting at " + new Date()); } application.onConnect =function(clientObj,userName, password){ trace("we are connected"); application.acceptConnection(clientObj); //setting parametter to the client clientObj.RedirectURL="rtmp:/appName/tesgin_new_instance"; clientObj.call("testFunction"); }; // END OF APPLICATION // CLIENT ACTIONSCRIPT // First, make sure an onStatus NetConnection.prototype.onStatus = function(info){ trace("NetConnection STATUS: " + info.code); } nc =new NetConnection(); nc.testFunction = function(){ trace("testFunction -> nc.RedirectURL
Hi, I go to explain first what I want to record. I go to use the FlashCom to make Online Training. This is possible? Very Obliged, Wesley
Hi everyone, We have a sound issue with Mac users that use our videoconference app. Here's the problem: publisher of stream(audio+video or audio only) can change is microphone capture rate(in kHz) using Microphone.setRate(). If, and only if, the OS of the receiver user is Mac the sound will be ugly(like a bear speaking in a headphone) when the rate capture is at 8 and 11kHz. When the rate capture is 5kHz, the publisher seem to speak like Speedy Gonzalez(Buggs Bunny cartoon). Sound is correct when the capture use 22 and 44kHz. This work perfectly on PC and this "thing" only happen to Mac user. The problem is not related to bandwidth(40mBits available) or performance(G5, iMac had same bug). Video is fluid it's only the sound at capture rate of 5, 8 and 11kHz that bug. We use FMS and Flash Player 9 on all computer either Mac or PC. Thanks for your help!!!
I've been trying to record streams from a webcam and they don't seem to be recording. I've also tried some of the samples for FMS2, mainly the guestbook and the record_tutorial. They both don't store the flv file. I checked the console while i'm recording and it says that the stream is stored, but when i try to get information about it - by clicking on the stream in the console - it shows 0kb. Even after i've closed the application. I'm running FMS2 developers edition on a linux box.
Hi There, I am using AVPresence component and when I change the size manually for bigger image, it gives me very bad resolution. I know becuase i am changing the size and Presenter Video component inside that. So is there any tip that I can change the size of that component. Thanks in advance.
Hi, say I have several instances of flash presentations running from one web page. I have another controlling application that should be able just send a number to the other presentations so they look at the same frame/picture... Do I need a comm server for that or is there any other simple / cheap way how to do it? Thanks, Pavel.
I've just installed FMS on my server (Win 2k3) and am not sure what to do now. I have two main questions that I'm hoping someone can point me towards an online tutorial of some type: 1) How do I properly setup my FMS, and how can I test it with a sample video 2) I'm unfamiliar with how flv, fla etc work, is there somewhere I can find this out? I'm wondering things like how I can attach video controls to my flash video... Thanks for any help for a newb.
It appears that Professional Edition comes in three different license "profiles" - profile 1 has a max of 150 connections, profile 2 has a limit of 1,000 and profile 3 has a limit of 2,500. Are they three different physical licenses? If you chose a profile you're stuck with it for good or can you switch between the license profiles on the fly using the fms2_console?
I have an application that has eight camera feeds. I have one file that loads all four cameras and publishes them to the flash media server. For testing of my user interface it is not possible to have all cameras. I am wondering if there is a way to take eight pre recorder FLV files and publish them up to the flash media server. Then my interface could still look at the URL and see simulated data for each camera. This would increase our testing speed a ton! Thanks for any suggestions. Wade
I want to create an application using FMS2 to stream muic videos and charge people for this. I wanted to make sure, is this permitted according to Adobe's EULA for FMS2? Any help is appreciated, Thanks!
i've created the following remote shared object below but for some reason the remote shared object doesn't show up in the media server admin console nor am i able to save any data to the remote shared object and then retrieve it ...could somebody plz show me how to write a simple remote shared object which stores a value and then displays the stored value in a dynamic text field?The stored value also needs to synchronize. // /* The URI for the shared object must be the same as the URI of the NetConnection it's using. */ function initRSO(){ //create shared object var my_rso:SharedObject = SharedObject.getRemote("SO", my_nc.uri, false); //sync data stored in shared object. my_rso.onSync = function(list) { } //connect to remote shared object my_rso.connect(my_nc); } //check to see if connected with a callback. my_nc = new NetConnection(); my_nc.onStatus = function(info){ if (info.code == "NetConnection.Connect.Success"){ initRSO(); }else{ error.text = "cannot connect"; }
Hi there, I am working on project in which I have to share two users desktop and they can see what the other user is doing and stuff like that. Is anyone know that how can I achieve this by using FMS or any other technique. Thanks in advance.
We have flash media server installed on windows server 2003 sp1 virtual server. Can we install php/mySQL for our web project or are there know problems?
Hi, I hope someone can help me with this, as numerous calls to Adobe have gone unanswered (no callbacks). I need to either find a product and/or solution that will enable me to convert various video formats (e.g., QuickTime, MPEG, Windows Media, etc.) to Flash automatically as opposed to doing it manually via the Macromedia Flash 8 Video Encoder or other manual process(es). A good example of the functionality I need is equivalent to how YouTube works: When you upload a video to YouTube, some background process/service runs that takes that video and converts it to Flash, and this is done automatically--without user/manual processing. I need to have a solution that does something like that. Any suggestions/help are/is greatly appreciated.
I am having a problem with blur filters I have applied to a game. The filters work fine when viewed in an unexpanded view, but as soon as I go full screen the filters are not applied to the back ground items I have filtered. Is there a solution for this problem?Any suggestions would be great. Regards Will
I'm trying to troubleshoot an app that is using FMS. It works fine for me, but my client is behind a pretty secure firewall. I had them do the port test and here is there results: RTMP DEFAULT Success RTMP 80 Failed RTMP 443 Failed RTMP 1935 Failed HTTP Tunneling DEFAULT Success HTTP Tunneling 80 Success I know they can see other FMS content, but cannot see mine. I did the same port test and received the following results: RTMP DEFAULT TimeOut RTMP 80 Failed RTMP 443 Success RTMP 1935 Failed HTTP Tunneling DEFAULT Success HTTP Tunneling 80 Success I then created a similar test connecting to our FMS and got the following results: RMTP Default: Success 0.3s RMTP Port 1935: Rejected 0.3s RMTP Port 80: Closed 0s RMTP Port 80: Closed 0s RMTPT (Tunneling) Default: Timed Out 20.1s RMTPT (Tunneling) Default: Closed 20.1s RMTPT (Tunneling) Port 443: Timed Out 20.1s RMTPT (Tunneling) Port 443: Closed 20.1s I'm thinkg is has something to do with how the FMS is configured, but know nothing
Hi, Just wondering, if any one know how to integrate flash media pieces with SQL with the help of Flash Media Server. Please give any examples or references you know. Thanks in advance.
Hello, I have a Flash project in which the user records a video with their webcam in Flash. The video is transmitted to Flash Communications Server as an FLV file, and I leave it there to be played later. 1. Because I have the quality set high (90), the file is huge (~80 KBytes/sec). Is there any way that I can compress the video either client-side while it uploads or server-side when it gets there? 2. One idea that I had was to transcode the video server-side to another format in hopes of improving the compression. Unfortunately, none of the transcoding or compression engines recognize the FLV as a valid file. I tried On2, ffmpeg, Riva, Sorenson, etc. The FLV does play ok and seems valid, but these tools fail when trying to convert it. Thanks very much for any help.
I work on a site that allows user to upload mp3 content that can then be streamed back on their profile page. In 90% of the cases this works fine, however, some MP3 files are causing an error on the server. Macromedia Flash Media Server 2.01 r27 encountered a problem and needed to close. Error Details: szAppName: FMSCore.exe szAppVer: 2.0.1.27 szModName: libmp3.dll szModVer: 0.0.0.0 offset: 00001c7c If I download these files to my pc, they play without issue through Winamp and Windows Media Player. If I use a hex editor to remove all header and tag information, the files seem to play properly but I Do not see this as a valid solution to the problem. Users should be able to include tags on their music, and if other media players can handle these mp3 files, Flash Media Server should be able to also. Could it be something in the encoding? Is there an updated libmp3.dll file available? Has anyone else encountered this error? Any help is greatly appreciated, if you need further in
OK, here goes...I installed Flash Media Server 2.0. Install was success. Running on windows server 2003 enterprise. I open up the FMS console and login. I start my Server1. I created a folder called "test" in the applications folder. And using FMS console, i loaded the instance and hit enter for _definst_. My question is, how do I stream a sample video? I have put a FLV in my applications/test folder. I have put a SWF in there as well, but I just cannot connect to it. I am testing it locally right now to avoid network issues. Do I test it by entering rtmp://?? in the browser? Also what is the Url to my server? I dont understand what path it would be? rtmp://127.0.0.1/test/???? I have searched all documentation and this one is just beating me up. Thank you.
Hello there, I am wondering that we can put all of our normal media pieces over to flash server, so we can secure them and it won't store on cache. Is it possible to do that? Thanks in advance.
