Media Server (read-only)

Hi All Can anybody help in configuring FMS2 on a local machine so that I can test some sample applications. My main aim is to abe able to stream live video and audio using FMS 2.0 . I am completely new to flash and FMS so any help will be highly appreciated. Regards -Raj

Is it possible to integrate FMS with another application running on the same server? We have an application that we would like to make Web-based. In order to do this, we need to be able to push the application engine's output to the clients. Does FMS have an API that would enable this? Our application is written in .NET (C#) but it would be easy for us to convert it to Java. Is it possible to make FMS and our application communicate with each other?

Hi There, I'm having problems with setting variables and accessing them through Application.config. I have set custom tags within<config> tags within <applicationObject> tags in the <JSEngine> section of my Application.xml. I've copied that Application.xml into the registered folder for my application. and tried to access the settings with: application.onAppStart=function(){ trace(application.config.user_name); } but no joy 😞 . I've read the livedocs at http://livedocs.macromedia.com/fms/2/docs/00000647.html (There seems to be an error in the XML on this page where the closing <config> tag is missing its '/') has anyone else got this working? I'm biulding a chat functions on top of a coldfusion pages. However i find that the basic room function of FMS component does not fulfill some of my requirement (or i'm not good enough in action script) I would like to biuld a room organizer using coldfusion and access to control the chat rooms. to do that i would like to also read (if possible manupulate) information such as the SERVER instances in the FMS console. Hi ALL Its very simple!! Please let me explain it in very less but clear words. There is one webpage which contains 10 swf files (apparently these are buttons to play or stop sounds.) 1.swf which plays sound1, 2.swf which plays sound2 etc... Now the problem is when you hit on any button first it triggers action "stopAllSounds" so that if anyother sound is being played that will stop first and the button you are hitting on that will start playing. So at any particular time only one sound will play at a time. This used to work before with flash player 8. but flash player 9 doesn't support this action stopAllSounds() it seems!! What will happen in the world if stopAllSounds - major action will not work???? Please help Parry

Sorry for my probably bad english;) I'm calculating cost of servers for the organization online video service. And I cannot understand is there difference in recommended configuration between Origin and Edge servers. I mean can I take a fast Origin server and slow Edge? And other question is... Can I use an ActiveX software for client's computers to compress video/audio stream there but not on server and can it reduce loading of servers or, may be reduce quantity of them? I'm having trouble with IIS and FMS conflicting when my server starts up. It appears that FMS starts up before IIS does and engages all available IPs, blocking IIS from starting the websites I have hosted on the server. My adaptor.xml file contains: <HostPort>69.25.11.114:1935,80,443,25</HostPort> <HostPort>69.25.11.110:1935,80,443</HostPort> .114 is a reserved IP just for FMS and .110 is the base server IP. In order to get things working I have to stop FMS and then start each individual website through IIS and then start FMS Again. Is there some way to create a dependancy rule in FMS to wait before IIS has started? Do I need to change my adaptor.xml file? I've tried modifying the lines above but this version appears to be the only one that allows FMS to work as we've intended, which is to have our video stream to users over port 443 from .114. Kevin Towes steps through the process protecting swf files on a Flash Comm server in his book "Macromedia Flash Communication Server MX" - http://tinyurl.com/qkhkz. He uses Flash Remoting, Action Script, a database, and Coldfusion. My question is: Will this work with ASP or is the ColdFusion server a necessary part of the ingredients? Thanks, Mickey

I had to correct the date and time on my windows machine and got this meddage from the system: FMS has detected system time is going backwards; shutting down server. Even a reinstall didnt work, anyone any suggestion how to solve this problem?

Hi everyone, I've tested the streaming tutorial by Stephan Richter : http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashcom/articles/broadcast_receiver.html It works perfectly on a single computer with one client and one server application launched but when trying on two different machines on my LAN, it doesn't connect and gives no feedback !!! I'm trying to connect with the following rtmp : rtmp://192.168.0.100/broadcast and I don't think any firewall or anything blocks the stream... I'm using WindowsXP. If anyone could help me with advises or solutions that would be a great relief for me. Thanks in advance.

I am creating an app that records the users voice to a file on the server by attacing to the microphone and publishing it. Very simple and it works. Here is the part that I cannot get to work. I also have a sound streaming in from the server in a NetStream object. I want to include this to the file I am publishing back (effectivley overlaying the users microphone input on top of the incomming stream). I have tried attaching to both the microphone and the incoming stream but am only recording the microphone input. I also tried using the media components for the incoming stream and attaching to those as well as attaching to sound objects but to no avail! Can it be that I have no way to publish two audio inputs simultanously to one file? Is it even possible to publish incoming streams or only input from camera and microphones?

Hello, I installed recently FMS2 in Windows XP but can connect at this server only admin console. I try simple connect, also samples from macromedia and nothing can connect. My firewall is off and I try to test it from localserver. Have no application which can block 1935 port. Status is: Level: error Code: NetConnection.Connect.Failed Can load successfully any app from the Admin Control Panel but from my swf/html cannot.

Flash 9 will introduce ActionScript 3.0 and FMS2 is still using AS 1.0. When will server code be able to be written in AS 2.0 or AS 3.0?

Hello , My question on this is if we can have a trademark send with the video from the webcam is sended . So on the viewer side , the stream is attached on a video and in a corner that trademark appear . Is this even possible . On the viewer side there is no movieclip with the trademark , the trademark must come on the video stream. Cheers , Adrian

now i'm busy with this sharedball thing, so each one that connects gets his own ball.. (with attach function) but now i want do de-attach when someone leaves. this someone might not be interested in clicking logout... (or disconnect) and he will click the window right away.. the ball will remain on screen ofcourse. now i want it to be de-attached when someone closes the (IE) window. I think this could be done by javascript but not everyone has javascript on, so thats not a good choise. Perhaps it could be done by some inside code in the SWF.. any help would be appreciated

hi all, i just installed a version of fcs 1.5 mx in my machine. i have fp 9, and authoring flash 8 and mx 2004. it installed the server in my machine but the components dosen't show up in the componetns window either in flash 8 or mx 2004. 2 questions: where is my fcs components? can i use flash 8 and code in AS2, normally, or i'll have to use flash mx 2004? i can't install fms 2, because my hosting only supports fcs 1.5 :( thanks, rodrigo.

hi all, i don't think anyone can help me, but i'll explain my problem anyway.. i have FMS2 installed on Win XP.. it works fine.. and i can go to the admin console. So i want to try a sample application.. i create a new instance (just like the name what the script says: for example; example_sharedball) then i start the example sharedball.. but in the admin i can't see someone is connected.. and when i start another example sharedball thing, it's not in the same position as the other one.. and when u move one of them, the otherone doesnt move too.. i also have tried the other sample application, none seems to work.. any help would be appreciated!

hi... i have created a stream in the server side that attach the stream os someone application.onConnect = function(client) { trace("we are connected"); var playStream = Stream.get("source"); playStream.play("sc", 0, -1); } the name od the stream of the user is "sc", and the stream I have created in SS is "source". when I go to the Admin API I see 2 streams... the "source", "sc", but in the client side when I ask to play the "source" nothing comes, but when i ask to play "sc" i can see the video.... where is my fault? regards Hacebe

I have an external flv which I want to go back to the beginning once it is finished so the viewer can watch it again without having to reload the page. When I posted this question in the Actioscript forum someone suggested that I use NetStream.onPlayStatus (I'm using NetStream.pause and NetStream.seek for the other controls) but when I tried to use it I got an error saying "there is no property with the name'onPlayStatus'". I am using Flash MX 2004. Is this property only available in Flash Media Server. If so does anybody know another way of basically doing this: netStream.onPlayStatus = function(reset) { if (reset.code == "NetStream.Play.Complete") { netStream.seek(0); } };

Hi everybody, I was wondering if it was possible to: 1-Open a flash in an IE window with a netconnection (to a Flash media server appication) 2-Open IE popup windows to display multiple Netstreams (using the same netconnection) I want to open multiple netstream videos and be able to move then around the screan, outside the first Flash that connect to the netconnection. Is that possible without having to open a new netconnection each time? Thanks everybody
