Negative Lab Pro has its own profiles. Can you change the headline of the thread so users will be attracted and respond accordingly. In 2021 I used NLP to scan negatives about 2000 in all the best quality I was able to get was using my Camera to capture RAW images. This required purchasing a back light and some other items.   ... @Wolfgang Lienbacher , you need to be aware the Default option of LrC is not to write XMP to the file, when you are working with LrC the application is reading and writing to the Catalog file. LrC can function without XMP files. When you import images into LrC and there is XMP data available the data will be reading,  LrC does not "Automatically Read info from XMP files, this requires a manual input from the user. There is an Option in the Catalog settings to Automatically Write Metadata to XMP, however this is not a primary function so info is first written to the Catalog. The XMP data is necessary to share info to Bridge/ Camera Raw of other applications. When you have the option selected performance will be affected particularly if you are using edits using AI functions like Denoise etc. You can pause the Auto Write to XMP when carrying out these functions and unpause it again when you have finished your editing. ... There are several reasons why you are having problems. LrC is only available via subscription to LrC is via the Adobe Photography plan which include Photoshop, LrC, Lr Desktop and Lr Mobile for tablet and Smart phones. LrC requires version 13.4 to sync to the Adobe Creative Cloud. The same issue means your system cannot support Lr Desktop and they cannot sync to your Tablet or Smart phones even if they can use Lightroom Mobile. So you will be paying monthly or annual fees for services you cannot access. If you discontinue your subscription you can still utilize LrC 11 you will not be able to utilize the Develop Module but you can utilize the edit features available in the Library Module.   I am not sure what version of Photoshop / Bridge / Camera Raw you will have access to, most likely it would be limited to the features in LrC 11. You will have to decide if the cost of upgrading your Computer is worth while.   I have a similar situation with my iMac as I cannot upgrade above LrC 12., however can use my Win Laptop to access the latest version of LrC, Lr, PS, and Lr Mobile.   ... X to V 15.x , you would have received a warning that your Catalog would be upgraded and a Copy of your V 14 Catalog would be saved in a folder with the name Old Catalogs ( or words to that effect ) If you had selected to Automatically update LrC that may the reason why you are not aware. I made a quick check on my Windows laptop and I find the Profile Browser very sensitive and if you CROS one from one to another and the display changes both the main display and the preview window but the change does not change unless you actually click another profile.
