An update on this. I reset my preferences to see if that made a difference - unfortunately not. It still came up with the error as before. I then chatted with an Adobe agent online and he got me to open a different catalog on my PC and see if the issue occured in that. It didn't. I sync'd a lot of keywords and titles with no issues. So that really meant that I had a catalog with some sort of corruption that wasn't cleared by the normal "check integrity" options. He suggested that I created a new catalog and then export all the image details from the old faulty catalog into this new one. He logged onto my machine (with my permission) to do this for me and start the copying process, which ran for about 12 hours. I woke to an error that said that LR was unable import this catalog because of an unknown error. I accepted the error message and closed LR, but when I opened it again, everything seemed to be working fine. All my 139000 images are there (although no previews yet) and I have been doing some keywording and syncing without issues so far. Steve

Thanks for the suggestion. I ran thru the steps but it didn't work. I still have the same issue, Everything works correctly when I start with Lightroom opening a file stored in an external mounted drive. When I start with Lightroom opening a file from the local disk in my Macbook, it launches Photoshop ok but it doesn't open the image. As another test I selected 2 images and tried opening them as layers, same result.

Hey, @simon28997170cvbr. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll help you figure this out.
The specific lens isn't supported, as per https://adobe.ly/4hrKqb8;
What format are the lens correction profiles you've received? You can follow this conversation to import Lens Profiles manually: https://adobe.ly/3FhpxCd
Let me know if it helps. Thanks! Sameer K

Hi Sameer, I have just installed Ps Beta but unfortunately that hasn't resolved it so I am still having to deal with this problem. I also tried booting up in Safe Mode but that didn't work either. I don’t know if this is unique to the M4 chip that I have in my Mac mini as this problem has never happened on my MacStudio (with an M1 Ultra chip) I have at work. My only workaround is to open my Nikon NEF RAW files as Smart Objects which does work! However when I close this image in Photoshop every time I get an error message pop up saying… Error 2: photoshop is undefined. Line: 1 -> I hope you can help reslove this as I know I am no the only one suffering. David

The reasons listed below make Lr unusable past 14.01. Star ratings in grid view don't update (this main topic) Can't create virtual copies - greyed out Can't edit in othe software (Photoshop etc) - greyed out Keywords don't appear and can't be added Any one of these issues is a deal breaker but I am experiencing all of them. Possibly more but this is where I gave up.

@jonathan_freeman Your screenshots indicate you are working on One Drive. Why? Have you moved all your files to One Drive? If so, very bad idea. You need to to be working on your local hard drive, not on One Drive. As @GoldingD points out, your most recent catalog by date is very much smaller than the previous one. Less than half the size. This indicates a major problem. I don't see a capitalization problem. The missing folders that have a duplicate have the same case, eg. there are two "Coastal Views", each with 185 photos, but one is marked as missing. This looks like a folder problem in the catalog. Is there anything wrong with "Lightroom Catalog-2-v12.lrcat"?

@Muskego.Ed , It's best you raise your issue in a new thread with an appropriate header, for the following reasons,
Your are the author of the original thread, which you have marked as answered. The issue you are raising is completely different to the Header of the original thread.
As a result it's unlikely to attract users interest with the new issue you are now seeking.

What about my second question: How can I sync from Lightroom Classic to mobile apps using a cloud storage service like Dropbox (or in my case, I use Sync.com)?
By @hershf74832201
If Sync.com works like Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, etc. in that it provides a sync folder in the local file system, then one option is to put any files you want to sync into that service’s local sync folder.
If you want to sync photos that include the edits you made in Lightroom Classic, then what you will put in the sync folder are exported copies. This could be automated using the Lightroom Classic Publish Service called Hard Drive. Set up a Hard Drive Publish Service with the local sync folder as the destination for that service. As you complete a set of edited images, run the Publish Service so that it updates the copies in the sync folder. Then those edited image exports are available to other devices. For example, you can open the Dropbox app on a phone, and if the copies that Lightroom Classic exported from a Publish Service to your computer’s local Dropbox sync folder have had time to sync up to the Dropbox server, then those images should now be visible in the Dropbox app on the phone.

Nice for you. Did not work for other people. Especially when you try to update older Windows-Version catalogs to an actual version of LrC MaC. Then you have to go from subfolder to subfolder - and for some 100 K photos that's not a good option.

@dcooper7: "Does anyone know of a workaround that allows this information to be visible while editing in the Develop Module, without switching to the Library Module? Any plugins, external tools, or tweaks that could help?" See here for how to edit LR's preference file to display the 35mm equivalent (when it's recorded in EXIF metadata by the camera -- many cameras don't): https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/how-to-display-location-information-in-loupe-view/m-p/14375008#M353898 The internal identifier for that field is "com.adobe.focalLength35mm".

I'm using a canon eos R3 with a Tamron 18-400. I also have that problem when I import into LR. I've discovered that by unchecking the remove chromatic aberration and enable lens correction boxes, no cropping is needed. But those boxes being checked on import is a new problem.

You will hear many excuses why that happns while others would ask you for more "details" about your computer specs. DOn't bother. The bottom line is, LR is badly coded softwaree that needs a complete overheul from the ground up. Adobe added so many features and it's all patched on top of each other. I have the latest AMD Ryzen 9 9950x, probabely the best you can buy right now. A 360mm AIO cooler,. 64GB of RAM. The RTX3060Ti GPU and one of the best MB you can buy, the Asus ROG Strix X870E-E. No matter, just cropping a few photos in LR and the CPU goes to 100%, the fans are going crazy and temp goes above 70c. No other app or program behaves like that. I run long Photoshop action with no les than 40 steps on dozens of Sony RAW photos and the CPU goes to 40% max. Lightroom has many issues and again, no one from Adobe or those "officials" helperes will admit it.

Summary Workaround: Any Stale Renditions you have in the cloud may be affected by selecting the image in Classic and performing a [Cmd/CTRL]+[ S ] to save the Catalog metadata to the file, then allow it to sync to update the Cloud rendition. The conditions necessary to create a file in this state are:
Import raw file into LrClassic.
Edit in PS
Return to Classic as a Tif (PSD is unconfirmed as affected)
Activate Sync for the file
Allow Sync to complete
Edit in PS again (as original)
At some point, after repeated round-trip edits, the file will exhibit an "!" indicating that Metadata is "Changed on Disk." It is at this point that the binary rendition becomes stale. Metadata and Lr edits can continue to update, but the underlying pixels remain stale.
[Cmd/Ctrl]+[S] will save metadata to the file and eliminate the "!" The stale rendition is now updated in the cloud.
A Library Filter will reveal all afflicted files in the catalog by searching for Metadata Status = "Changed on Disk". Select All [Cmd/Ctrl]+[S] to save the metadata to the file.
Let me know if this works for you.

@benl52794612 It's unfortunate that you have lost a considerable amount of work, although not everything. The Startup Preferences file would likely give you the history of what you did and where your catalog was. It does seem that you have worked that out already.

You’ve posted to an ancient thread. It is highly unlikely that the issue described in this thread, though not impossible, is the same one you are currently experiencing. Rather than resurrect an old thread that is seemingly similar, you are better off posting to a new thread with fresh, complete information, including system information, a complete description of the problem, and step-by-step instructions for reproduction.
If the issue is the same, we will merge you back into the appropriate location.

This thread will be locked.
Thank you!

Thanks for the comment but when I have the latest drivers and a fully updated machine and a particular software version does not work after an auto update and the latest does the correct conclusion is the software version. I am not going to roll back again to find if it is 14.1 or what the problem is as 14.2 works and it must have been a 14.1 bug.

I'm making changes such as editing a mask for a color layer, levels adjustment, using the clone stamp to remove bugs.
In the past, whenever I made these changes in Photoshop, they would automatically appear in Lightroom.
By @kdash1228
These edits should still show automatically, because they are changes in the pixels of the image. It does mean Lightroom has to rebuild its preview for this image, so it seems that is where the problem lies. XMP should not have anything to do with this. Try zooming in to 100%, that should force rebuild the preview.

Over 90 % of the images in my LrC Catalog are original RAW images from digital Cameras. I do not use DNG files in my normal workflow and I do not Automatically write Metadata to XMP.
I just used the Copy as DNG at import as a reason why Adobe does not retain the original raw image name in the DNG file created during the Denoise process. LrC does not change the original imported files when editing.

Thank you! I've been trying to fix this Denoise/Enhance Error on a MBP and I'd tried everything in the threads I could find (uninstall/reinstall LRC, move disks, turn off GPU, update OS, check disk access, change the RAW compression) and nothing worked (kept getting "Denoise not applied - There was an unknown error") - but updating the Camera Raw application fixed it!
