Photoshop Elements

I am using PSE 2020 and I have never had a problem importing old geneology photos and newspaper clippings into editor from my Cannon 9000f.  Yesterday about 1 in 5 scans were coming through as photos.  Today no matter what I do I get a broken thumbnail instead of the photo.  I can open the scans in my geneology program without a problem.  If I try to import from that folder into PSE, the same thing happens.  It even happens when I scan through PSE.    Moved from Using the Community (which is about the forums) to the correct forum... We are new to Adobe Elements and are stuggling to quickly find help on individual features.  When we bring up the help for Photoshop Elements, Premiere Elements, or Elements Organizer, we are taken online where we see the main page.  We also see the left navigation menu for the contents of the manual. Unfortunately, the only search feature we see is at the top of the page.  The search field searches for all apps and other website information.  If we include "Photoshop Elements" in the search it is a little more specific, but still is not searching just the manual.  How in the world do we confine our search to just the manual for the application we are using?

I work with PSE 2018 on WIN10/64bitUsing scriptingListener I have recorded some steps. After working on a multi-layered file in Photoshop Elements 2020, flattening the layers and saving as a TIFF file, the thumbnail of the image only shows one of the original layers, not the flattened image. However, if I then fully open the image in PSE, the correct full image is shown. It appears the only way to get a correct thumbnail image is to open the image, copy and save on a new document.Kindly advise if there is a setting in PSE to correct this or is this a fault within PSE.I run this on 64 bit Windows 10.

Hi, I recently installed PE2021 and imported about 50K images.  I'm in the process of naming faces and have completed about 5K.  I've used the software for about 10 sessions so far and backed up the catalog a couple of times.  The response time for the application has been very slow which I've tolerated so far. However, I've now encountered system freezes/hangs on the last 4 attempts of using the application which has cause me to do a hard restart of my system each time.  The application is now longer usable because it causes my system to freeze when I try to use photoshop elements 2021. This last time trying to use the application I encountered a software xcepion error xe8 and then got prompted to repair Creative Cloud, which I clicked on to do the repair.  However, the system again froze after that. I am running windows intel i5 windows 10 8GB/RAM. What other repair action do you recommend? 

When I drag and drop and image from the photo bin into my layout in the workspace, I position my cursor in the layers panel on the layer below where I want the new image to be placed. However, PSE 2018 puts it somewhere totally different and I then have to drag it to where I want it - see screenshot for an example. This is very frustrating if I have lots of layers.  In PSE14 this never happened but happens all the time in PSE18. What is wrong? I'm using PSE18 on a Macbook Pro.

Is there an automated way with Elements Organizer 2021 to set the "Date Created" equal to "Date Time Original"?

In order to run scripts (macros) in Photoshop Elements, we had to load the Adobe ScriptListener plugin.  Each time we open Photoshop Elements, two scripting log filess are generated on the desktop.  They are distractful on the desktop and periodically need to be deleted anyway. We do not see any way to redirect the default location for these files.  Does someone know if the default path for these log files can be changed to somewhere else?

ROUNDED CORNERS – We want matching rounded corners to crop or frame an image.  The problem with the Cookie Cutter tool is that the corners are fine if we cut out a square.  However, if we extend the cutter to a rectangle, the rounded corners become skewed in favor of the longer side.  It is no longer a symmetrical rounded corner.  Ideally, we would be able to select the rounding radius for all corners regardless of the size or shape.  How do we set the tool so that all the corners match?

PROBLEM:  When we drag a frame to a photo (the layer is active), the frame will not frame in the picture.  It simply adds the frame and requests we drag a picture to the frame.  Why wouldn't the frame be attaching itself to the picture?  Most articles indicate that this is a simple operation of dragging the frame to the photo on that layer. OBSERVATION:  The only thing we can think of, is that the picture may have had a bevel added at some point, though we don't seem to see one.  Could this be an issue.  If so, how can we clear the layer of any other effects that might interfere with a frame? Thank you for any help.

It says on the Photoshop Elements 2021 that a 6th Gen processor is required. Is that an i3, i5 or is 6th generation processor, also what would the equivalent AMD processor be?

Just purchased PSE 21. New to PSE. After editing a photo, how do I save it as a JPEG or PDF file to view without opening PSE and/or to share?

I purchase PSE 2021 and received a 24 digit serial number. When I go to activate after downloading 2021, I am asked for a 6 digit number? Where is the 6 digit number, or where can I activate with the 24 digit number? Why is this always so complicated?

I purchased a month a go, everything was fine, and suddenly this morning i can't open Photoshop Elements 2021, always loading but won't open at all, i tried to uninstall and re install again, still the same problem, i can not send any screenshoot because Photoshop Elements 2021 doenst launch at all

I have just bought Elements 2021 mainly to use Organiser but I find it buggy and clumsy. When I move from one directory to another on the directory tree the screen flickers and after a few seconds the screen returns to the previous directory for a split second before settling into the directory I am trying to view. All that accompanied by more flickering of the screen. Is there a cure for this?I bracket my exposures so usually two thirds of my shots are deleted. To delete an image in Organiser however I need to select the image, press delete, then check the box to also delete from the hard disk and then hit OK. That makes the process take three or four times as long. I want to select, press delete and gone from the catalogue and from the hard drive. I could do that in Bridge, why can't I do it here?

I'm using the 2021 version of Photoshop, but I can't find the Lighting Effects or Flame filter. I also can't find the Pen tool.

I have one catalog that has accumulated many photos over the years. Recently added photos from two game cameras that took several timelapse shots each day for about two years, so thousands of photos. I want to keep these photos (and have them tagged and in albums), but they are "in the way" in Elements Organizer when looking for  regular photos, like of the family. Best practice? Finally use a separate catalog? Hide them from view in Organizer somehow? Thanks for any advice.

I ran Elements 9 successfully on my previous PC until it died. When I tried to load from the disk onto my new PC it failed. The message given was  "Below mentioned application has failed to install -  Shared Technologies".How can I load Elements 9 onto my new PC  -  all help gratefully received.Thank youPeter Richards

I have Adobe photoshop elements 2010 installed on my system. Is it still possible to upgrade to Photoshop Elements 2021? If so can you tell me how and how much it will cost me. Many thanks. 

I am no longer able to scroll up or down to see the different fonts available. Before the list would start with 'A' and I could scroll all the way down to 'z', how do I fix this?

I have just installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 2021. My printer is an HP Photosmart B109n. When I try to set up the printer settings, nothing shows eg the Paper Type shows as Unknown and the Paper Size dropdown box is empty.The printer works fine with other software eg Word.What am I doing wrong?

I organize my photos in a directory structure by year month (yyyy-mm).  How can I get PSE to use this structure when importing photos? I dont want to create directories by shot date (just the year/month) For example: My directory structure is: \pictures\2021\01\pictures\2021\02\pictures\2021\03 etc I have been using Downloader Pro to get my photos in this format but it stopped working recently.Breeze Downloader Pro | Breeze Systems I really wish PSE could add an option to do this.     

My PSE14 was working earlier today and when it synched with the server to tell me that I could upgrade to 2021 the application no loner works for video editing.Am I forced to pay for an upgrade to regain this fuctionality?

I'm still learning and I am trying to fix the blown out window issue in my photo.  I have the over exposed photo and with under exposed.  When I merge the photos and manually paint the window, the entire window eventually turns very dark. Why is this happening and how can I prevent it? (Dont't mind my kids hockey bags in the photo!) Thanks!!

I'm using PSE 2015. When I finish editing the RAW images and click on Open Image, the whole program freezes and will not let me do anything, including closing PSE. I have uninstalled and reinstalled PSE many times and sometimes it will work for a while, but always reverts back to the problem I described. Any suggestions?
