Once, most people were shooting to miniDV tape, and then capturing from that to a DV-AVI file for editing. In that Capture, it was a byte for byte transfer of data, and then written to a DV-AVI file, with very light compression.Now, nearly everyone is editing some form of highly-compressed Video file. At some point, after the image being recorded strikes the sensor, and the final file on the camera's memory card, or similar, there is compression being applied to the data, and it's much more significant. Often, it's a form of the H.264 CODEC, but not always. Still, some compression is being applied. This compression goes pretty much unnoticed, since the material is HD to begin with, but it is there.Once edited, if one then goes directly to BD (Blu-ray Disc), there will be one more layer of compression, either to H.264, or HD MPEG-2. Many folk seem to have issues, when attempting to install Adobe products. This is a checklist of things to do, prior to attempting to install. It's general, and covers most Adobe programs.run as AdministratorExtract any archived downloaded file, including the FULL folder structure.install to C:\ only. You can do custom folders, from the default, but install on C:\. Also few Adobe programs do well with a full network installation.turn off all AV, pop-up blockers, spy-sweeping softwareturn off all firewalls, and lower the security settings, if necessary. I want to mute certain parts of my video in Adobe Premiere Elements 11. I am able to reduce the decidels using the Audio Mixer, but I want to be able to just mute certain parts rather than constantly drag the pointer up and down. Is there anyway I can do this? I thought by clicking on the mute box, on parts I wanted to mute, it would work but that doesn't seem to be the case.

There are often questions regarding the process of Rendering, for smoothest playback of the Timeline. The need to Render, for the smoothest possible playback is indicated by colored bars, just below the Timeline Ruler - red bars/lines, green bars/lines and in PrPro, yellow bars/lines. With the exception of the yellow bars/lines, it's the same for either PrPro, or PrE. This ARTICLE goes into more detail. Though Todd and Steve created it for PrPro, with the exception of the yellow bars/lines, it's the same in either program.Hope that this explains Rendering, how and why it's useful and how to tell if your source footage needs it, for smoothest playback.Depending on what one has in their Timeline, what they are doing with it, and how critically they need to see it in playback, one might never really need to Render, or they might need to Render small segments many, many times, as they make adjustments.Good luck, and thanks to Todd and Steve! I have Premiere Elements 11, which, according to what I have read, supports editing 1080p50 (or 60 in NTSC). When I create a project it is not showing up in the list of available presets. See the available list below:Checking the installation directories, I can see that the preset is actually installed on the computer. Screenshot below:Comparing the two lists, all of the presets are available, except the 1080p 50. The preset has GUID 088bb726-9823-467e-b3b7-26f3703d4cf1, which is included in the Adobe Editing Modes.xml as EditingMode24, enabled on all platforms. I was going to attach both the preset and the editing modes xml to this question, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do that. They are both reasonably large files, so I am posting below only the definition of EditingMode24. I can post the contents of the preset as well, if required. Have you gotten a Media Offline message? Do your Assets show this screen?Chances are that when you last did a Save of your Project, the Path to those Assets no longer exists. Has the Path changed in any way? Have you Moved, Renamed, or Deleted any of the Assets? Is there an external, or networked HDD in the mix anywhere, that might now have a different drive letter? The Path in the XML code of the PRPROJ/PREL file links to the Assets is absolute - it must match from the drive letter, to the folder structure, to the file name, and match 100%. Change one thing, and the link via that Path is broken, and must be restored.When you first Opened your Project, did PrPro/PrE ask, "Where is file ______.avi?" Hello,I have created a slide show in Photoshop Elements 10. I clicked on output to send it to Premiere Elements 10 because my pictures were blurry/pixilated when I viewed them in full screen preview, but they were not blurry/pixilated in the screen above the timeline. Once I had my slide show in Premiere, I finished making edits, created a DVD menu for it and then went to burn it to a DVD. None of the pictures were blurry in the screen above the sceneline. When I went to burn it to a DVD, I unchecked the box "fit to available space" and slid the quality slider all the way to the right. Most of the pictures were fine, but some are still blurry/pixilated.Why is this happening and how can I correct it? Please provide detailed steps as I have only been using Premiere for about 2 weeks.

Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to apply an "echo" effect to a clip in Premiere Elements 10. I am trying to make the audio of a clip sound like it is echoing. I have tried adding audio effects to clips by dragging it onto the screen or clicking "apply" but nothing happens. However, the audio effects do seem to work on narration. I read a forum similar to this one but I didn't really understand all the terms as I am a beginner.Thanks!

Hello,I would like to know the differences between Adobe Premiere Elements 11 and Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 in relation to video editing. If someone can point me to any resource on the web like a comparision chart of features, differences etc that would be perfect. I understand the Premiere Pro CS6 would have a lot of extra bell and whistles, special effects etc... but what I would like to know if there is a difference in terms of the the quality of the Final Product?Our needs for a video editor are very simple. We need to create simple titles and text overlay to show the name of the speaker and/or topic. The video you see on GoPro's website and in their in-store displays is gorgeous - bright, crisp, super vibrant. The video my son has actually been getting with his GoPro Hero2? Decidedly less exciting. It's definitely sharp and nice HD quality, but my complaint is that it almost a desaturated look, with the colors muted and a little washed out.Given the differences between GoPro website footage and our footage, I'm guessing their website and in-store display video has had some liberal video editing applied, which is fine, except... I can't figure out how to get the same results! If it was a picture and I was using Lightroom, I could probably get it pretty close, but I can't seem to get anywhere close to what I'd like to see using the PRE Image Controls (brightness, contrast, saturation). The image controls seem kind of limited in what they do. Brightness seems to wash everything out instead of just increasing the highlights. Contrast... In an article on the PrPro forum, Dan Isaacs offered some tips on workflow for editing Camtasia, or Camstudio footage. Some of the steps involve using other programs, both freeware and from Adobe, but might be of use, should one need to do the work on the Techsmith CODEC footage in Premiere.LINK to article.Hunt

He was replying in the PrPro forum, but you can substitute PrE for PrPro in his post, as they are the same here. Hi there - I have just purchased Adobe Premiere Elements 10 and I am trying to add subtitles to some video clips that I have on file.  The main problem that I am coming up against is the templates used for Titles - there doesn't appear to be a plain one, the one that interests me is the Fun Lower Third but I don't want the wave on the clip - just the text.  Is there any way I can edit the wave out or am I going about this in completely the wrong way? I would be grateful for any help you guys could offer me.

I've managed to add a Transition Effect to my timeline and I can't seem to add it to several spots in the timeline.  I'm a complete Noob to Effects.  What am I not doing that I should be doing?  I've captured video and had to stop it several times, then start capture again.  There appear to be markers on the video clips that I can't attach an effect to.  I've uploaded an image so you can see my issue in detail.See the red circles?  Those markers where the spilts took place, seem to by my problem.  Any help would be appreciated.  I'm trying to attach a simple Cross Dissolve transition to the splits.  I can't attach one to the right of the split, but not centered.  Any help I can get, would be appreciated.(edit)I've managed to find a work around to the problem I'm having.  Apparently, the clips that I have split, were over lapping a bit.  that's why I couldn't attach an effect to the clip.  Still couldn't center the effect

I'm trying to learn my new Premiere Elements 9. I am a simple man, with simple needs. I like to just do a simple fade transition between video clips. There is no "fade" option on the transitions for PE9, I have tried "cross disolve" and "non-additive disolve", and they are freaking wierd. The one that comes the closest is cross-dissolve, It fades out the first clip fine, but the follow on clip starts with an awkward momentary freeze frame, which is not acceptable.Any thoughts?Clem
