I'm in the process of buying a video card for my computer to aid in video editing and I wanted to know if PR and AE support Direct X - or - if the video cards have to be CUDA cards to be supported. Please advise.

Playback with 4k files was enough to get the job done - (30fps on a single monitor at 1/4 resolution - don't need anything more). Smooth playback with cuts and dissolves, struggles a bit with fancier transitions, but if I pre-render I would get smooth playback.Added GTX 1060 (6G)Suddenly, can't play back 4k files in Premiere - SEVERE lag... skips tons of frames... forget anything nice. It even struggles a bit when playing 4k files using Windows default player.I killed everything running in the background. No help there.3D Games look great tho. Hello,We just hired a graphic designer. Upon seeing the specs of the laptop she is receiving which had 16GBs of RAM and 256 GB SSD, she told us that she would need at least 32 GBs of RAM and 1 TB SSD to be able to render hour-long videos in an hour or less. She will be editing videos, creating them using green screen and rotoscopping.In doing some research, I am seeing that the CPU does the rendering and is most important in this case. Is this correct? Are her assertions correct for what she needs or is it somewhere down the middle? Hi all... first time poster. I have been saving up my money and have a couple thousand dollars to buy a new computer. My main objectives it to be able to run Adobe CC and Camtasia so they run fast without a lot of issues. I have spent the day reading and watching videos and have seen a zillion suggestions, but figured I should go directly into the belly of the beast and ask actual Adobe CC users.If I knew how to assemble my own computer, I would... but that is beyond me. Can some of you give me suggestions of out-of-the-box solutions that are just ready to rock and roll? I would love to spend less than $2000 if I can, but if needed I can go that high and maybe just a little more. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am looking to possibly purchase a new computer for running ADOBE PREMIERE and AVID. The one I have has been great, but it's starting to show its age (especially with 4K projects). I have an old laptop using a GeForce GT 620M and Intel i7-3517UI want to upgrade to a new 2-in-1 detachable laptop but unfortunately most of them don't come with discrete graphics.So for things like Adobe Premiere would my old GeForce GT 620M and Intel i7-3517U still be faster than the newer Intel 620 integrated graphics with something like an Intel i7-8650U?

I stumbled on this video on YouTube, which the specsseem extremely capable of enduring any task of Premiere and After effects, but the budget is around $8000 Australian Dollars. My question is, is this PC build overkill?for example, with all those high end specs, how long would it take to export a project from Premiere? In my previous post on the forum, I tried to export my H.264 video and I had to wait 12 Hours... Due to my PC having specs almost a decade ago which it was built. For the past several years, I have been giving advice to some users about what I have recommended for hardware upgrades, and I have been upgrading and/or updating my systems accordingly. But now, with finances in question and my non-entertainment, non-editing (read: everyday) work consuming most of my time these days, I am announcing my virtual retirement from hardware upgrades, and will only update to newer hardware if the old hardware begins suffering from security issues due to discontinued support.Here is the biggest reason for my decision:My work has been entirely in 1080p or lower resolution, and I am not planning to move to higher-rez video material (e.g. 4k) for the foreseeable future. Thus, I am beginning to feel that I have wasted money for all this hardware that may be more powerful than I will be needing in the foreseeable future.Therefore, I am staying put as far as the CPU, RAM and storage is concerned (i7-4790K CPU reverted back to the default Turbo'd speed, 32GB of RAM
I'm having major playback issues with premiere pro and my system. I purchased this system for 3D animation but thought that it should run premiere just fine. When I play any video files I get stuttering playback. I've tried placing the footage on thunderbolt drives/local storage and USB3 but to no avail. I tried changing the settings in premiere but no luck. Below are my specs. The only thing that I can think of is the the individual processor is slow. To note both 4k files and hd or lower resolutions all play at the same lagging rate. The playback even stutters with rendering the sequence. I'm redoing the storage in my workstation PC and could use some advice on how best to utilize my resources. I have: - m.2 NVMe SSD 250GB - 2x 250GB WD BLUE SATAIII SSDs in RAID0- 4x 1TB 7200RPM HDDs in RAID10 My current plan is:- m.2 for my OS and pprogram- SSD RAID0 for scratch/cache and current project source files- HDD RAID10 for cold storage of completed projects. I keep hearing that you can see big performance gains by having your media cache/scratch folder off your OS drive, but I can't see how that remains true on an NVMe SSD capable of 3GB/s - 1.5GB/s read-write speeds .I could break up the SSD RAID and use one SSD for cache/scratch, one for current project source, use the m.2 for OS, and the HDD RAID10 for cold storage. But, I'm not sure which is more beneficial for PP and AE to see in terms of performance: individually addressable dedicated drives or raw IOPS performance? The nature of how SSDs pull data from flash memory makes me lean toward the latter.
Hi everybody.I recently download premiere pro, and rendered my first video on this pc. I noticed that my cpu usage was at 95%, and the gpu 1%. I'am 100% sure that i turned on CUDA core render, but it still doesn't use my gpu. My gpu drivers are up to date. The recent Premiere update pointed out improvements in speed for 7th gen or later Intel CPUs which got me thinking...is it time to upgrade my MB and CPU?I'll list my specs below and what it is I do regularly and any help/advice on upgrade vs. don't worry about it would be helpful.The Crash on 8-6-18:It's been a long time since I visited this forum. But a good crash will always make you rethink your hardware setup. After 3-4 good years on my build I had BOTH my OS drive (Samsung 850 Pro) crash and my 4TB RAID0 Striped HDD Media Drive crash on me at once. Both were unrecoverable. My research so far has lead me to the Dell XPS 9575 - though I'm concerned it only has 16GB RAM, with for £2,000+ doesn't give a very promising longevity, especially since it's soldered RAM (grrr) their 32GB option is delayed again (next year now!!) HP Studio x360 is allegedly the world's most powerful 2-in-1 now (I hope so at ~£3,000 for 32GB option) but I'm really unsure about Quadro. I've generally understood Quadro to be a load of shite and overpriced marketing hype for all but 1% of users. And even us professional Adobe editors don't fall into that 1%.By the way, before it tangents the conversation - No this wouldn't be my main edit suite. But sometimes I do need to pack extremely light and edit on the move (and 2-in-1 form factor is essential for me in a light laptop for a number of reasons, including using external keyboard + pen)
I have a graphics card that is compatible with GPU acceleration and I have GPU acceleration turned on in Settings.To try and see how Pr uses resources, I've had a system monitor open while rendering a recent project. The beginning of the project (~35-40 seconds) is all animation. Assets were created in Ps, imported into Pr with motion added via the Effects panel in Pr. These same assets are in different places on the timeline at various points in the film.Looking at the resource monitor, when these animation elements are being rendered, GPU use is high. This makes sense. GPU use then drops when standard video segments are being rendered. This, too, makes sense. The video card is a Radeon RX580 with 4GB of on card RAM.When it comes to the CPU, when rendering the animations, CPU use is high (90%+).
