I have written a script to create folders based on the names of assets in the parent folder, then move the assets with matching names into the appropriate folders. The script runs perfectly up to somewhere between 1,000 to 1,500 images moved and then I receive a memory error from Bridge. I have been running this on folders with an excess of 25,000 assets in them. My work around was to put a simple counter in the script to let me know when 1,000 assets had been moved, throw up an alert, and then I would view the Task Manager to let me know when the CPU usage had dropped below 50% and would ok the alert, then it would run the next 1000 assets. My question, is it possible in scripting to monitor your memory usage to allow a pause in the script so Bridge processing can catch up?
Whenever editing the metadata in a .psd file, whether it be through a script or manually typing it in, Bridge CS3 strips the file's clipping path names. Howeer, running the same script in Bridge CS2 and performing the manual metadata changes leaves the path names intact. Does anyone know why the path names are being removed and how to prevent it? Thanks. The metadata fields that I wish to edit are: Title, Instructions, Headline, City, State, Date, and Country.
I am sure that someone have an idea about that but i am not able to find a good solution Problem: my old image management system separated keywords with another separator as bridge is able to read. But or because of that Bridge import the hierarchy of keywords wrong. So i need something which replaces the keywords before import or make a import directly to Bridge.. any suggestions? Thank for your help!
One of LightRoom's more interesting feature is the ability to convert jpg files into dng files. I'd like to be able to do this (via scripting) in CS3. Any ideas? -X -- for photoshop scripting solutions of all sorts contact: xbytor@gmail.com
I get this error on the XMPFile call in the following script from ESTK2 on Mac OSX: > #target bridge >if (ExternalObject.AdobeXMPScript == undefined) ExternalObject.AdobeXMPScript = new ExternalObject("lib:AdobeXMPScript"); >var psdFile = new File("...picture.psd"); >if (psdFile.exists) { >var xmpFile = new XMPFile(psdFile.fullName, XMPConst.FILE_PHOTOSHOP, XMPConst.OPEN_ONLY_XMP); // Blows up here >var xmp = xmpFile.getXMP(); >} "...picture.psd" is a Photoshop file that exists and has XMP data. Any clues?
I am working on XP Pro and CS3. I cannot figure how to run a script similar to select all graphics within a folder and creating an InDesign contact sheet...but, I want start with a master folder and have it automatically go through all the subfolders. Is there a work around or standard script I am not aware of to toggle folders and all sub folders?
We have a database of photos on a single server volume covering years (thousands of high res photos). The images are inside folders inside folders inside folders, yet I need to Replace Metadata with a copyright template on every photo on the volume. Is there any way I can have Bridge replace the metadata on all the images in one command instead of having to go into every folder and select the contained images and choosing the option from the menus (which could possibly take days, if not weeks to do)? I tried doing a search by file type, but it generated so many results that after about a half an hour of searching, Bridge crashed. Bridge CS3 on Mac OS 10.4.11 working on a Windows server.
I honestly have no idea about 'scripting', but it sounds amazing. Having a folders' metadata in a excel file would be SO useful. I tried to download a script, but it didnt work, I did exactly what it said (put it in startupscripts folder in /adobe) and opened bridge, but the option wasnt in the tools menu as it said it would be. How does one obtain scripts? Is there somewhere reputable that people get them from or are they all self written?
Im having problems with psd files that appear to 1. Lose visibility of metadata inside bridge, 2 are unable to have metadata updated and or added. These are psd files that were originated as .NEF files (Nikon Raw) - only touched by Adobe applications ( I dont use Capture) - opened in ACR, saved in a different folder as .psd and subsequently edited. The metadata is visible in photoshop when I go to files info, but it is not visible in bridge. I am trying to sort through images to tag them for a deadline, and I want to use images that I have already done the post production on, but I cannot either see or update the metadata in bridge! I tried appending a metadata template - but that doesnt work either, the option is greyed out any suggestions???? I am using CS3 and just updated to Bridge 2.1.0.100
Im sorry for double posting (I have already posted this before at http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3c061ba7/1 but nobody has replied... this area may me mor appropriate anyway. I a computer at work with CS 2 and Vista on it. Everything is fully up to date. When I try to run the contact sheet script from the tools menu it brings up a dialog box saying "Starting..." (if InDesign isn't open it will open it) and then it just sits there for about 2 mins and then it stops. InDesign doesn't even start a new document. Anybody have any ideas as to what is going on and how I might be able to fix it? (and yes I am using it correctly... have been using CS 2 for years and have used this feature many other times in past jobs) Thanks
I'm just barely beginning to understand scripting in Bridge. This may be a stretch but is it possible to export tagged XML elements from <br />Bridge?<br /><br />EX. In InDesign I have the below copy tagged. <br /><br /><?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?><br /><dataroot><br /><adspot><br /><feature_price>2/$4</feature_price><br /><feature_descript>Nabisco Snacks</feature_descript><br /><feature_body>Premium Saltines or Ritz Crackers, 16 oz. Hi, Any help with the following would be greatly appreciated. I have created a custom xmp metadata panel that I am using for assets for a client. In Bridge, is there a way to use the Find tool to search for my custom metadata fields (as compared to the "All Metadata" search or generic metadata category searches)? Also, is there a way to save these searches for future use or set up a filter based on custom xmp metadata? Similar to how Bridge's built-in keyword filter works but for custom metadata. It would be great if this could work similar to the current filter palette instead of using the Find tool every time. Thanks so much! Josh
I am attempting to find a script or plugin that will allow me to select my custom XMP metatdata fields and Export them to a XML or CVS file in order to Import the content into an InDesign document. I've seen a couple scripts out there but my lack of javascript knowledge makes it difficult to tweak. Can someone point me in the right direction? ANY help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hi all, Does anyone know how I would go about importing specific fields of Metadata into InDesign at the same time I'm importing a graphic? For example, I have a n image of Ajax. In the 'description' metadata field I have ad copy associated with that image. When I import that image into InDesign, I'd like to import that copy as well. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
On launching Bridge, I an consistently receiving the following error. "There were problems loading a startup script the last time bridge was launched. Would you like to load them now?" Clicking [Yes] produces the following error: An error occurred while running a script. The script may not be compatible with this version of Bridge. Check for available updates by selecting the Updated command in the Help Menu Error in /Library/Application Support/Adobe/StartupScripts/AdobeStockPhotos.jsx Line 54: result = eval(script); Timeout while waiting for the engine I am running Bridge Mac CS2 - 1.0.4.6 Adobe Stock Photos Update 1.0.8 Power Mac G4 733 / OS X 10.3.9 Updating either Bridge or Adobe Stock Photos does not correct the behavior. And curiously Stock Photos appears in the Favorites pane and appears to function. Any help ? Kurt Griffith.
I have written a Photoshop JavaScript for my employer which allows my users to enter custom information into metadata fields. My intention was to use Bridge to create a searchable asset management system for these files. However, I am running into several problems in allowing my users to search for images with the criteria that they are looking for. My first thought was to create my own search dialog which then looks for files whose metadata matches the search criteria. I was able to do this and return an array of thumbnail objects, but to my surprise there does not appear to be a way to create a new window which shows these thumbnails? (without creating a new folder object and copying the files there which would tie up too many resources.) My next thought was to create a custom namespace/panel for my metadata. This also works up to a point. I cannot seem to get my custom metadata fields to show up in Bridge's search or filter areas. I see the SDK example for creating search conditi
I downloaded some scripts into Photoshop that are supposed to also appear in the Tools menu of Bridge. They show up fine in Photoshop, but are nowhere to be found in Bridge. I really need them in Bridge so that I can process multiple images at one time. If I can't do a bunch at one time, then I have to monkey with a separate folder for each image, and that is more nuisance than it is worth. Can someone clue me in as to how I can get these scripts to show up in Bridge. Currently they reside in Adobe Photoshop CS3/Presets/Scripts. I work in Mac OS X.
I am able to send fixed string from InDesign to Bridge like in my "sample 1", but not able to send variable like in "sample 2" (myDocName is the variable). How to solve this? // sample 1 var bt = new BridgeTalk; bt.target = "bridge"; bt.body = "var mydoc = 'MacintoshHD/MyFolder/Bot02.indt'; app.document.thumbnail = new Thumbnail(File(mydoc));" bt.send(); // sample 2 var bt = new BridgeTalk; bt.target = "bridge"; var myDocname = "MacintoshHD/MyFolder/Bot02.indt" bt.body = "var mydoc = myDocname; app.document.thumbnail = new Thumbnail(File(myDocname));" bt.send(); regards Erkki
My workflow consists of using Bridge and Lightroom for sorting, identifying, and keywording images, which are raw NEF files. So a sidecar .XMP file is created by that process. Then I convert my raw files to TIFF using Capture NX, which ignores all the XMP data. I have a batch file that copies the XMP data from the NEF's sidecar file into the TIFF file. If I remember to run that batch file, then all my keywording etc stays with the derivative images. I open the TIFF files to PS CS3 from Bridge. What I would like to do is to have a Bridge script first determine whether the XMP data has been copied and, if not, first run my batch file to copy the XMP data into the TIFF file before opening it in PS CS3. Alternatively, I'm happy to make that test in PS CS3 instead of in bridge. Or, if there is some way in PS CS3 to read the XMP data from the original sidecar file and merge it into the TIFF file being opened, that would work too. I'm looking for some way to automate the transfer of the
I'd like to have a script select a RAW preset (via the Develop Settings context menu). How do I construct a MenuID for a preset. I expect that it would look something like "Thumbnail/Develop/PlusOneStop" (where PlusOneStop is a preset that I've defined in ACR) but I can't find anything in the docs. -X -- for photoshop scripting solutions of all sorts contact: xbytor@gmail.com
I have a JSX script that adds to Bridge CS3 a new menu element. It places it "after Tools" - ie it's a top level menu. The item appears correctly and is enabled when I open Bridge CS3. But it greys out after I go into File Info. This doesn't happen at all if I move the element to "at the end of Tools". Has anyone else seen this issue? John
I was wondering if an equivalent to Jeffrey's tool for Lightroom is doable, or already exists for Bridge. The company I work for could greatly improve its workflow if it was the case...
Hi, i want to script some actions for the adobe bridge connected to our version cue server. My first try was to create some folders. I`m only able to create the folders locally on the host with the "new Folder" method. Any ideas?
I have considerable experience scripting InDesign, but this is my first Bridge script... The following script does what I want from within the ESTK, but I have no idea what to do to make it runnable from within Bridge... :( Any pointers? var brSel = app.document.selections[0].spec.toString(); var bt = new BridgeTalk(); //brSel = brSel.toSource(); bt.target = "indesign"; theScript = "var IDsel = app.selection[0]; \n"; theScript += "if (IDsel instanceof Graphic){ \n"; theScript += "var theGraphic = IDsel;\n"; theScript += "}else{\n"; theScript += "var theGraphic = IDsel.graphics[0];\n"; theScript += "}\n"; theScript += "var theFile = File(\""+brSel+"\");\n"; theScript += "theGraphic.itemLink.relink(theFile);\n"; theScript += "theGraphic.itemLink.update();\n"; bt.body=theScript; bt.send() Thanks, Harbs
Can somebody show me how to find a highlighted text in acrobat via Bridge and search the highlighted text in InDesign? Is this possible? Best regards, Ferenc
