When I try to import a Character Animator project to After Effects, I get an error message:"After Effects Fehler: Verbindung zu Adobe Animator 2023 konnte ncht hergestellt werden. Stellen Sie sicher, dass Adobe Animator installiert ist. §86 / 1"This translates to: "After Effects error: Could not connect to Adobe Animator 2023. Make sure that Adobe Animator is installed. §86 / 1" When I try to copy a project from Adobe Animator and paste it to After Effects, it doesn't work either. Of course, Adobe Animator is installed.
Is it possible?
I would like to track movement and audio from a video file to animate a character. Is it possible?
Hi everyone,I really love some of the new default backgrounds but when I went to animate with them using scene cameras I found that they don't zoom with the camera. Is there a setting I am missing? See video for clearer explanation of what I mean! (video has sound). Thanks in advance for any help!
When adding additional triggers to a swap set in the artwork, it'd be nice if you could have a swap set in CA autoupdate its contents and add any new triggers added to the art set. Example:I add a angry eyebrow art layer in my already setup right eyebrow swapset so when I save and update, angry eyebrow is now automatically added to the swapset. Huge time saver.
It would be amazing if we could create our own part profiles in CA (like you have with head, eye, etc) so if we use a name in our keyart it automatically is recognized and is collected as a view. This would make triggers so much easier when using multiple profiles and views. Especially for expressions. Making all the settings in a single profile like left quarter would then apply to all others based on unique ids assigned to custom parts. Those custom parts could even have separate behaviors, triggers, etc. If we had the capabilities to do this, workflows would be cut by up to 80% in rigging. I think CA really could benefit from more dynamic object controls.
Hi everyone, I probably missed this somewhere but I was wondering if someone could tell me the easiest way to animate a prop in a scene for character animator. This would be for a puppet to interact with a prop and also for a prop to move without interaction. If there is any advice or a video someone could point me towards it would be appreciated so much!!Thanks!!
Heyho, I wanted to work with the Characterizer Tool of Character Animator but unfortunately, the tool does not crop out any faces. It doesn't matter whether I use the automatic or manual capture tool. It even fails to recognize the faces of pictures that are only a head (black background is added). When I use the edit mode, the styles don't work since they think, the whole picture was the head. Do any of you know of this problem and how to solve it? I switched to older versions but nothing fixed my bug. Thank you!Paul
Right now the only good way to make a head tilt independent from body is by making the head independent and adding a face behavior. This workaround is very hacky and causes alot of compromises in movement. The head should be a leader to the body and rotation/tilt should be a simple pivot on the origin point natively.
Feature request - Please add the capabilities to activate triggers from a cycle layer keyframe. This would drastically improve my workflow and increase ability to make more advanced rigs.
Today I returned to a chproj file I had not editied for a few weeks. I removed all audio files as intended to replace. I could have deleted something aside from audio but Im not sure.When I did replace the first few seconds of audio, and did a compute lip sync, it worked but it seemed all the triggers and positions were forgotten. Then when I try to click around or go to different sections to see if any triggers are working, the error in the screenshot pops up every time. The text of the error is below. This happened first on my macbook air m1. I tried running the same file on a decent PC that has worked for this program before. I got the same result on both machines. Error text from screenshot: Error in Ch version 23.0x52Error: getRawEventGraphValuesFromTimeSpan not implemented for global evaluationError code: (engine.is:1192)
Adobe Character animator crashes for me on application start. Macos Ventura.. 😞
Please help with a 2020 project that needs to be used for a new season. Two issues: I'm getting "error: replay trigger depth exceeded" on triggers M and G, and the puppet moves weirdly on lipsync. None of these issues were present in the 2020 version that is no longer available (I went as far back as Creative Cloud allowed, no dice). Here's a video of the bugs in action, and here's the puppet. Can please someone take a look at this?
I have a puppet we made for first season of our show back in 2020. I need to start working on S02, but with latest ChA, I get this little nugget: Any idea how to fix this? I'm on Mac Monterey. Thanks.
Hello, I was working in the timeline adjusting and changing some triggers on my project and this error occurred and I cannot clear it. It will not display my puppet on the stage. Can anyone please help me figure out what I did or what I broke? I have not come across this error before. Thanks The error: Replay trigger depth exceeded or cyclical trigger detected. How handy would a solo feature like on audio in Premiere Pro and layers in After Effects be in Character Animator? It would work really well when going back and forth between profile views without having to turn on and off visibility and then remembering to turn it back on before going to record. Soloing whole groups or individual layers should only affect the Rig Mode and not carry over to Record Mode. Just a quality of life suggestion that would likely save a lot of pain. 🙏🤞
Hey Guys,I would like to animate a mother pushing her son in a wheel chair. I tried to do it both with the magnets function as well with just dragging her hands over the handles of the wheel chair. Unfortunately, both didn't work out for me because the wheel chair's not staying attached to the ground when using the magnet and the mothers walking behaviour is becoming rigged. When I tried using dragger, I animated the movement of the chair wheel with the transform function and then just dragged the hands of the mother over the handle. The problem though is, that the walk behaviour isn't a steady movement, so the hands of the mother always go forth and back of the handles (as shown in the video). Does anybody know how to solve this problem or if there's a better way to do this animation?Thank you for your help!

Hi I'm currently setting up a puppet i created in illustrator and am having issues with the walk animation. I've seen various videos of puppets set up in different ways but i've set mine up to avoid duplicating artwork in an effort not to waste memory and cpu (it's already excruciatingly slow and i have a lot of layers and options like different clothing etc). Here's a screen shot, i've expanded some of the layers to give an idea of what is inside: Does this look ok? I think i had all 5 head views in each of the 3 body profiles before adding the walk animation. When I try to walk left and right it just distorts the frontal view in a really weird way. Thanks
Hi A project i'm working on is incredibly slow rigging and doing basically anything inside CA. I can probably go with i7 3700k with DDR5 ram or i7 3900k with DDR4 ram as they work out to roughly the same price. I know it depends on the application in question but I can't find any info on what CA benefits from the most, can anyone offer any insight into this? Thanks

Hello, In. the tutorial Characterizer (Adobe Character Animator Tutorial),there is footage of the black and white sketch puppet overlaid on lined paper. Only the sketched lines of the puppet are visable with the bg paper showing through the blank areas. Can anyone tell me how this was achived ? thanks
When I open a ".puppet" file on my computer this is what appears in Character Animator. The Rig, Record and Stream tabs are not present and most of the drop down menus at the top are greyed out. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or it's the software. I'm updated to version 23.0. I would appreciate some assistance: thanks!
