Hello! I have rigged a character with a right and left profile that is supposed to be walking. The character walks when I  have the timeline marker at the beginning of the timeline, and it works fine to control it with the arrow keys. But as soon as I press record and tries to control it, it just completely disappears from the scene and nothing gets recorder. What is going on here? Thankful for your help! 🙂All the best Elina

Hello. I'm an After Effects (AE) specialist and I been using character animator (CH) with great results. I tried Googling and searching forums but I stillhave no idea why CH delivers a Json file along with the PNG and WAV render option. Is there something I can do with it? I'm spit balling here, will it help me integrate characters into webpages in a similar way that PSD exports an HTML? Can I use it for camera data in AE? I have no idea.Thanks.

Been learning Character animator for almost a year. Never had ta problem with saves.Updated to 4,4. Performed with triggers, adjusted lipsync, etc etcSaved a named project version just to be safe. Clicked on a previous named project version to test out the save. Clicked back on the new version and everything was gone. Visemes were gone, changes were gone. Takes were gone. The whole nine yards. Did everything  to try and recover and it was all gone. The new saved version only listed the puppet. That's it. Went back to version 4.2 and added new named project versions. All works well. Just a heads up.

Can someone tell me how to make an image appear and disappear. What I am trying to do is have a sign next to the character. I am thinking that in order to change the text-while the character is speaking-I must make an image of the sign (e.g. .jpg) appear in the scene then disappear; and the next image (with different words) will appear. This would be similar to a PowerPoint presentation.  If you know of a better way, please share it.

I am confident in working with triggers and swap sets.  Customizing them has become fairly routine.  Then I ran into trouble when trying to create emotions.I have added layers that will give my characters more emotional versatility.  There are angry eyebrows, a confused mouth, tired eyelids and so on.  Once created, it then made sense to have swap sets to show these new layers.  When I attempted to take it a step further, it didn't work.I thought that triggering an emotion would be as simple as a swap set that included layers from the various facial features.  I tried creating an angry swap set and added the angry eyebrows, angry mouth, mad eyelids and wrinkled nose.  When I triggered it, the layers appeared but the currently visible layers did not go away.Does triggering emotions in this way require a modified Photoshop structure?  My structure is straight forward with groups for each facial feature containing the various layers that apply.&nbsp

This is similar to this discussion: Puppet distorting on walk cycle  but I have tried the solutions from that discussion and have not been able to fix it. Thanks in advance for any help.I've followed OkaySamurai's Kaufman tutorial to set up my puppet. Unfortunately, when he walks, his body drops down, his face stretches, and he just in general looks silly.I'm hoping someone has an answer. Just like you can create an alt mouth can i do the same for blinking ? when i try the blinking is always on.

I've made several changes to my puppet while in CH such as making left and right profiles. But now when I want to edit in PS, it's not updated. Is there a way to do that so my changes are also updated in PS.    

Hi, for some reason, Bodymovin wont render animations imported to Adobe Effects from the Adobe Character Animator. I tried to do it over and over.  It only shows blank file. Is there any suggestions?

I recently bought Loupedeck Live for controlling my character during livestreams. Unlike some other Adobe software, there's no custom profile for Character Animator. I've been able to program shortcut keys onto it, but what I'd really like to do is use the knobs to control sliders for x/y positions, scale, etc to move my character around.  Does anyone know how to program a slider onto a knob on Loupedeck devices? And this question is mainly for Okay Samurai- Are there any plans for native Character Animator support for Loupedeck?

I don't speak English well, so I'll just write a little.the eye that doesn't work properly is the right one. His pupil moves, but only to the left, and when I turn my eye very specifically. the only difference I found between one eye and the other was in the pupil range, which has the option "Attach to" on the right, and not in the other. in the rest, everything is the same.Version 4.2   

Hi... I don't know if anyone knows of any handy fixes and/or workarounds for the following?I've just recently switched from Google Drive's 'Backup & Sync' to its new incarnation 'Google Drive for Desktop'. Unfortunately the switch appears to have thrown up a major problem. Not one of Ch's making, it should be noted, but I was wondering if there's an awareness of it and maybe a workaround?THE ISSUEDespite the fact that the files I'm working on are using Google Drive's 'available offline' feature... i.e. being synced on Google Drive in the cloud and also existing locally on my hard drive... whenever I try and open one of my Ch projects (the one shown here being 'AeroFeedback02_Ch00') I get the following error message onscreen. I know this is specifically a Google Drive problem rather than a Ch one, per se, but I just wondered if maybe anyone else had experienced similar and found a fix?Hope someone can help 🙂Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeers,Frannie x 

Is the eyeball automatically part of a swap set? The pupil disappears as well during the blink. It looks awkward and I wish there was some way to fix it.

Hello, I cannot launch Character Animator. It always fails and says "Sorry, an error occurred". No detail specified. I tried restarting my computer, uninstalling Character Animator and instaling again. My computer is up to date, so is Adobe Creative cloud. Other programs are working fine.  Could anybody please help me with that? Thank you! K. 

My characters layers are glitching randomly with no sense of pattern or cause as everything was working fine seconds ago then it just started glitching in record mode. I'm extremely frusterated because i'm working on a project with a deadline and when I pay for premium professional expensive software I expect it to work unless i'm doing something wrong which i'm not because the glitching results aren't even consistent. Withot changing the .AI file the glitch switched to making the legs and arms disapear then switched back to making the face or eye white parts disapear during different head turns. Also if you look in the video I attached some of the individual layers in the mouths are being seperately glitched. That's partially how I know this isn't a normal problem. I just bought this iMac 2021 (Apple chipset) a few days ago, not sure if that could be the cause it's been working great on this computer for 2 days since I got it. I might just redo the file as it's not that big of a deal

Hiwe recorded all of our lectures using oksamurai puppets (aquavella/almasol). We want to put an easter egg in one of the slides. The easter egg should be a real world puppet or stuffed animal we give to the student (to trigger traumatic memories yeeaaaars later). sooooodo you have or have access to real world oksamurai puppets/stuffed animals? thank you -peter 

I'd like to learn more about how to use Premiere Pro specifically for projects created in Character Animator. Can anyone recommend a good tutorial or online course for this? Thanks!

Hi, I've created a Mouth swap set, consisting of 2 Viseme Mouths and 2 single expressions. The swap set is working correctly for the most part, but when I try and use the 2nd Viseme Mouth, it simultaneously shows all the viseme mouths in the set (Aa, D, Ee, F, L, etc) at once rather than alternating from one ot the next.  The Viseme Mouths are labeled as Normal and Upset. The single expressions are labeled as Shocked and Surprised. I've attached a picture of the rigging. If anyone knows how to correct this, it;d be greatly appreciated!!Thank you        

Adobe Character Animator (beta) updated recently and the dragger animations are not being shown (they are in the timeline but not playing). I have 4 different files that were created about the same time and all the arms animation is gone. I'd appriciate any help.

I am trying to create a stack of boxes that all have Collide and Dynamic properties in order to similate my character running in to and knocking over the boxes. I am not happy with the extra space around the contour mesh (sides) of the boxes. The objects don't actually touch when colliding or resting on one another. Any way to work around this?

I've created puppet in Adobe illustrator is this possible?

I have quite a busy scene, with a puppet, and graphics in the background. When I export my project, everything is fine. The music plays fine, the sound effects play fine. But there is a narration track, imported from audacity, which randomly cuts out throughout. The playback is fine in Character Animator, but it reliably exports with these bugs. I've tried lots of different things, but it still happens. The narration track has been cut up using the "Split" tool. Could this be something to do with it? Thanks.

I am using Character Animator (and the Beta) for the first time, I have made the rig in illustrator, all the layers were working great, made triggers and swap sets. I needed to add different variations of the arms and hands, different positions, hand movements etc so I would be able to make the triggers and then record some scenes. I did everything the same way with the arms before in illustrator with the arms and hands, but when I pulled the rig up to start making the new sets with the different movementst/expressions I noticed anytime I clicked on the original arm my whole rig goes invisible and I cant have both original arms visible at the same time. I have tried moving layers around, adding the + to the other arms and made them their own layers, combining the layers, but I have not been able to figure what I am doing wrong or if its a combination of things. I have also noticed that some hands have a warped mesh on them with points for other hands. I don't know where I mes

Hello! I used OkaySamurai's suggestion for large pupils for my puppet and cut out eye holes in my face. This worked to make the eyes move less drastically, and more naturalistically, but now the eyes only move when I move my head? It's not that big of a deal, but since the body also sways everytime I move my head, it's a bit strange.I am sure it has something to do with my layers. The "Pupil" layers also include the whites (which I believe OkaySamurai recommended in his video?), and the "Eyeball" layers are just a larger white circle underneath to indicate range. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Also, if you happen to see anything else weird based on the errors panel, please let me know!
