Questions

I have played with creating a combination of css grid and flexbox layouts that are acceptable across browsers and devices, even if they do not have support for css grids yet.I have already done the standard types of layout, such as equal height 3 column, header and footer, and the standard product/detail type of layout, plus the usual blog and top/side fly-out menu layouts. What I am looking for now is something different, that I could try and convert to grid/flexbox, and if possible use just html/css for most items that would often be done via javascript.To this end does anyone have any suggestions as to layouts or page components, that they think would not convert to grid/flexbox or just html/css for a component?Alternatively a link to an interesting design concept, or effect would also be welcome. It does not matter if the layout is in a book, (that I can view on-line) a pdf document, or whatever, just so long as I can see it, (you can even post an image).On an off-topic note -css @

Hi guys, so I have created 2 website now for University, the first one was a computer hardware website and was for a made up company, with that one I passed with highest marks, although I did lose a few marks for things like when clicking the send button on a contact form getting it to actually send an email. Now I am almost finished my 2nd website and this one is for my wife's children's nursery and they want to actually use it once it is done. So anyway I am about 90 percent finished but, I can not for the life of me work out how to get it to send an email. At the moment the website is on a pen drive and using XAMPP and PHPMyadmin, so the pendrive is acting as the local host. Can someone please explain in simple terms what I need to do to get this to send an email to a chosen email address for me, if that is possible. PHP Linting does not appear to be working correctly in 2017.5. I have errors showing on lines that refer to variables that are not on those lines, all following lines marked with an error show the same message.

This one is quite strange.I'm mailing out a short run eshot for a client using php from my server. If I use as the $headers From: tommy@blah_blah.co.uk or fred@blah_blah.co.uk, practically any name prefacing the @7431982 part the email From header comes through with the tommy@blah_blah.co.uk, or fred@blah_blah.co.uk, which is what I really require.HOWEVER if I change it to mark, as below, which is the clients name/email address it arrive as just Mark the name has been capped up and the @9345664.co.uk removed???$headers  = 'MIME-Version: 1.0' . "\r\n";$headers .= 'Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1' . "\r\n";$headers .= "From: mark@blah_blah.co.uk";What gives?I mean if the guys name was anything but mark it seems to work.

In it's parent template I have several editable regions, one of them is for the document title:<title><!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="title" -->DnD-Production<!-- InstanceEndEditable --></title>I am trying to add an editable text attribute in the nested template, in a "submit" form, which is near the bottom of my docBefore:<input name="orderSubject" type="hidden" value="formValue" />I use the editable tag attribute:after:<input name="orderSubject" type="hidden" value="@@(submitValue)@@" />The problem is that it also places the TemplateParam in the middle of the "title" editable region.<title><!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="title" -->DnD-Production<!-- TemplateParam name="submitValue" type="text" value="formValue" --><!-- InstanceEndEditable --></title>This causes a problem because when i try to update descendant pages i get a message  that the "title" region is unresolvedIs this normal

Have been using FileZilla as a stopgap while dealing with other problems. Believe I'm well along toward resolving most of those; would now like to make sure D-W is putting files to server when saved and phase out reliance on FileZilla for this purpose if possible.If one of you could show me where this setting is made, I would be grateful.Best,jwc

I downloaded a free website template.in CSS the URL directs to /images/logo.gifthe image is in the correct location and appears in Dreamweaver on the WYSIWYG.if I open the page in Microsoft Edge, as a webpage, the logo.gif image appears on the webpage.NOW I have opened the logo.gif in Photoshop, altered the image a little bit and re-saved the file in the correct location.i open the page in creamweaver and the new logo.gif appears in the correct/same position.BUT when I open the page in Microsoft Edge, the image does not appear on the website.i have compared the original image settings with the altered image settings and everything is the same.the only difference is the original image said that it may be blocked because the image came from another computer - so I unblocked the image, now it won't appear on the webpage but still appears in dreamweaver.Help please.

The code that I am using to create a rectangular image map within an area tag is not working when it comes to integrating hyperlinks. I finally convinced my client to go with a fully responsive design (yaaaay), at least to an extent.Are media queries still a thing? Is that the standard format I should be using to put together this website. I was given two alternatives, and I need opinions on which is the better between the two...Option 1: I was told to make a "fully responsive" website, where I will make media queries at different breakpoints for different screen resolutions.Option 2: Or I would simply make two versions of the site. One for desktop and the other for general mobile devices with a fully responsive layout.In option 1, I was wondering if using media queries to switch between the desktop version and the mobile version (so to speak) could cause any problems with todays devices. Will it truly detect the resolution of the latest iPhone and Android devices and make an accurate breakpoint to switch down to the correct layout (that I will set up using CSS/media queries), or might there be a problem with that? Oy!I have been using DW since 1999, the good old Macromedia years. When I work, I use "split" mode, doing all coding by hand in one half of the screen and watching it come alive in the other. Way back then, this was one of the major advantages with DW. At least in my eyes.But as years have gone by, this feature has degenerated more and more. Today, DW still doesn't understand CSS that became industry standard half a dozen years ago. Absolutely correct php throws errors. Includes are not displayed, etc, etc.Nowadays, I need to constantly, i.e. every minute, check even the slightest modifications in the stylesheets or source code in a web browser.Am I the only one who's annoyed by this?Are Adobe even aware of the problem?Why is it so hard for Adobe to implement e.g. WebKit or other rendering machine to DW?Just throwing out these questions, hoping they will lead to the major improvement that DW need.Cheers!Dan

The exam is asking me to close the DOM panel and it will not let me use the windows menu. Is there any other way it has to be.The exam is also asking me to copy text from the code view but I can't select the type from the code view in order to paste it to another page.The exam also asks me to close the files panel- it will not let me use the windows menu either.I've failed the exam by 50 points and I'm tired of this please help.

I was wondering if anyone else has noticed the change in the type of questions now being posted in the forum?Last year about 50% of questions were Bootstrap related, with the occasional complaint, code related problem and lack of knowledge questions making up the rest.Now though I often find it difficult to find a question that I can join in with. With so many complaints being posted, many of which are not solved, and just as many being caused by the users requirements or set-up, I'm starting to feel redundant in the field of front-end development questions. I know Dw 2017 was a very unwelcome change to many users, but can it really be the main reason for the massive increase in complaints or the lack of code related problems alone, or have many of the complaints been building up over a number of versions with the changes introduced in 2017 being the final 'tipping point', and users unable to say exactly what is wrong, simply pointing to the obvious..Over the last 3 weeks I have watche

My client sees the following warning when he logs into a website created by me. The site allows proprietary information to be viewed/used, but does not pose a threat if an unauthorised person gains access.Info held in a database includes name, address, location, phone and email. According to the Privacy Act, this info may not be divulged.Should the client invest in an SSL certificate? If so, which level? Any recommendations?

I know that dreamweaver supports working over network folders (Use network shared folders in the Site Definition in Dreamweaver) but everytime that I save a file using dreamweaver over network, the file id changes, breaking all hardlinks. If i use others programs to edit the files, like notepad, the file ID remain the same. If I save files in local folders, using dreamweaver, this IDs remain the same.Is this a BUG from dreamwever or is there a configuration to change how the network files are saved?BTW: I tried this in CS6 and CC and the result was the same.
