Hello community!I would really appreciate it if someone could explain to me how to create an effect like this in Illustrator. 

can I change the rulers in Illustrator to match cartesian values - ie positive values are to the right and up, negative values are to the left and down. When I move an object, positive values will move it to the right and up, negative values will move it to the left and down

hi, so I recently downloaded illustrator and I have come across a problem.so when I open up illustrator the screen is blank and it doesn't come up with the recent documents and when I try to open a new document it won't let me. now I have seen other forums and tried the solutions they haven't worked. I have also re-installed Illustrator and it hasn't worked. I really would appreciate if someone could help- Eleni

We use illustrator for generating artworks and also flexible circuits. We generate files that have coordinates that tie up with our SMT machine. We export the .ai files as dxf and then it goes through a conversion process to make the file compatible. All was fine untill Illustrator updated from 2021 and then dxf's are no longer compatible with our conversion process as the dxf duplicates each coordinate.Please can anyone help as our only mac that can run 2021 is now obsolete 😞

Uso uma fonte licenciada pela adobe fonts (lato) que, por alguma razão não é reconhecida pelo illustrator, apesar de devidamente instalada. A fonte já foi adicionada pelo creative cloud, e através do sistema do descktop, e mesmo assim, de ambas as maneiras ainda apresenta como se não tivesse sido encontrada.  Já até desinstalei e instalei novamente a fonte de várias maneiras, inclusive pelo creative cloud. Ocorre de ser reconhecida e eu consigo usar, mas logo se torna não reconhecida pelo programa. Também já desisntalei e reinstalei o programa, inclusive já até restaurei para a configuração padrão e não tive resultado. Quando abro arquivos antigos, ocorre de às vezes o illustrator reconhecer a fonte, mas que na hora de transformar para outro formato como expandir a forma, ou exportá-lo em PDF, a fonte se perde...  

BonjourJe suis confronté à un souci Illustrator 2025 (29.0) que je n'arrive pas à résoudre. Le logiciel se bloque sur la fenêtre de lancement et impossible d'aller plus loin. J'utilise un laptop équipé de Windows 11 Pro 23H2 et d'une carte NVIDIA RTX A500 mis à jour avec la version stable  v553.09 du pilote.Sur la même machine les autres applications ADOBE (Acrobat Pro, InDesign, Photoshop et Première fonctionnent sans problème).Toute aide serait vraiment appréciée, car j'ai beau cherché je n'ai toujours pas trouvé la solution.Bien à vousCordialement,Joseph

The Adobe Creative Suite, in my experience with the following apps: Indesign, Illustrator, are NOT optimized for apple M3 chip. And honestly not even the Apple M3 Pro Macbook itself. FIle opening, organizion doesn't work properly. When you save a new file, it doesn't follow the directory you want/need (which is the file you're working from). It will pop up in some random place in your host-file.Mac's tag's system does not populate within the Indesign, Illustrator apps (when placing, or opening files)Pink screen flashes (Within the app window) when opening illustrator or sometimes dragging it to an external monitor.Locking and Unlocking objects in Illustrator creates a terrible lag of what seems to be a selection of every single object on the pasteboard.My large PDF's will sometimes rainbow wheel in Acrobat, & i have to close. Nothing else comes to mind, but it's been a nightmare, especially because i bought this laptop for efficiency in my workflow, But i'm so, SO cr

Hello everyone, I just upgraded my Illustrator from 2022 to 2025. Before, the Kashidas worked without even being activated by pressing ALT+J. But now, when I do so, nothing happens. I read that, First, the indic option should be activated, and then the paragraph style and character style should be Farsi or Arabic, but it is not working again. Does anyone have any leads or suggestions? I also don't have these options visible.Thanks in advance.

Hi community. How can I make perfect outer rounded corners using shapes, to make Google looking tabs?The black shape I did using rounded of sqaure, and then used the pen tool. But I need to be able to countrol the outer rounded off section as shown with the red arrow.  Thank you.  

When I click on an object for some reason Illustrator thinks I'm dragging it, so even if I'm not holdling down on the mouse it still stays locked with my cursor. It only stops dragging when I click a second time. I'm using a mac if that helps

I've got an illustrator file which has lightning going over a background, the blue in the bolt shows lovely over the black but disappears over the pink/purple gradation and the white glow becomes too prominent, has anyone ever had to over come anything like this before, if so how?

Hey,I'm making some shapes using my Pen Tool by "draging" and after I'm done and I select whole shape, I can't see the handles. I do see one of them when I click a particular point before. But I want to see all handles in this shape. What am I doing wrong?

I have a problem with the Illustrator program, it does not work smoothlyThere is a slowness in selecting any shape, whether by the (selection tool) or (direct selection) It is not limited to shapes, even when selecting texts, when I want to select any text, it takes about two seconds to be selected, and if I move the arrow before the two seconds, what I selected moves to another place !! I've really done everything.At first I emptied the Recycle BinI restarted the deviceI erased the cashies filesI emptied all the contents of the device into an external hard diskI deleted the Illustrator and reloaded itI downloaded Adobe's cleaning tool and deleted all the programs and reloaded them Nothing worked for me, I ended up doing a factory reset of the device !!And the surprise is that the problem is still ongoing, what more can I do!! I wasted a lot of time and was late in delivering the work that I have toI'm so upset and I can't work. 

Context:I exported Plan.pdf from Rhino 7 using the vectorized PDF export option. During the export, I ensured that the layers from Rhino were included because I need to further edit the document while preserving its structure.The Issue:When I open the PDF in Adobe Reader, the layers appear properly and function as expected.However, when I open the same file in Adobe Illustrator, the layers are not recognized or do not appear.This is problematic as I need the layers in Illustrator to further edit the document.Attachments:Plan.pdf – the exported PDF file.A - screenshot from Adobe Reader, showing the layers are displayed correctly.B - screenshot from Adobe Illustrator, showing the layers are missing or unrecognized.4. Hi..I have attached two snips here. I have to know the three equal parts of the square, so i decided to draw 4 lines starting from right corner to the left corner of the square (snip 3) and then made the square as key object and aligned the 4 lines to distribute horizontal centre..I expect that first line and last line will be on each corner and the between two lines will be distributed equally giving me a reference for 3 equal part of the square..but i dont get the expected result when i do that, instead all the lines are aligning together to the centre of the square (snip 4)...since it is a square i can easily calculate measure and divide it..but sometime i use this in other shapes and there also i get this problem...i dont know what i am doing wrong here...would be great if I get a solution..thank you..

I have a simple script that saves my current document as a low resolution PDF into a specific folder.Only issue is after using this script (or even saving manually) the current open document in Illustrator becomes this saved PDF document. Hello, friends on the forum. I have two questions related to using Variables in Adobe Illustrator. I understand how to Load Variables from a *.xml and *.csv file. My question relates to this: Can you load variables from a *.csv file and set the Data Set names automatically? I can do this from a *.xml file, but I do not know the syntax, if any, for this in a *.csv file.My second question is, is it possible to use the Data Sets with the Batch command and set the target to Export for Screens? I have tried using the Ovenide Acton "Export" Commands check box in the Batch settings, but I cannot get anything to work. It seems like my Batch replaces the last saved versions of each iteration.Thanks for any help.

So I have a filled rectangle with some words within.I want to warp this, so the rectangle and text wave like a flying flagExcept, when I apply Effects>Warp> Flag... the preview is grayed out and no matter what settings I make, nothing happens, nothing is applied.I've tried, creating outlines then trying, saving as eps they trying, Saving as a jpg and then trying.  No matter what, NONE of the warp effects is working for me`What am I missing.  ThanksiMacIllustrator CC 22.1

Hi all,I have used Illustrator for decades and have always used a workaround for this, but I assume there is a more professional way that would save me a lot of time. This is extremely easy to do with a straight edge in the physical world but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do this in Illustrator. If anyone has a solution to this that is not a plugin that I have to pay for (because this is a hobby and I am already spending more than my budget likes just for Illustrator) I would love to hear it!
