Window and panels moving when Mac goes to sleep

I'm on a Mac Mini M1 with 16GB and Big Sur 11.2.3, and am up to date on my Creative Cloud updates. About 25-30% of the time, when the computer goes to sleep, Illustrator will drop down about 1/5 of the way down the screen, as if I clicked the title bar and dragged it down the screen. When this happens, some of my panels will move around as well and I have to reset my workspace. Also, the grey space around the artboard shimmers when I move my cursor and the little popup window urging me to click and learn more about new features will have the font size reduced about 60%. All this happens with both Illustrator and Photoshop (the only Adobe apps I use regularly.) I usually end up quitting and restarting the program, and resetting my workspace. Oddly, all this doesn't happen EVERY time the computer sleeps, but it does happen fairly often, and is very annoying.

Hello Anubhav,

Thank you for the reply.  I am running Sonoma 14.7.5

Photoshop 26.5.0

Illustrator 29.4

InDesign 20.0

On a Mac Studio 2022 Apple M1 Max/Apple Studio Display/BenQ LCD Display

Strangly if I put the computer to sleep via the Apple menu, this problem does not occur.  It only happens when I let the compter sit for any length of time.

Upgraded to Sequoia and, so far, have not seen the problem recur

Oh, good, finally. This is quite annoying, and it slips up on you with a large monitor when suddenly all the windows are a mush and the only solution is to re-cascade the windows.

Update: I'm running the latest version of Ventura and adode CC apps. As of right now, it looks like I'm not experiencing the issues I was having with windows moving. Yay.

An anyone else confirm if they are no longer having this issue?

Just did the update to InDesign 18.2.1 and the problem still exists...unfortunately!

The miracle will be if they fix it after 2 years 🤣

After two years of this problem, it stopped with the last Mac update for me (Ventura 13.2). Hasn't happened once.

Great for you you! But not on my end running versie 13.2.1 (22D68) and even reinstalled Ventura again and it is still happening. Would reinstall InDesign be an option and delete previous versions?

Same here on my new MacStudio with two connected Studio Displays. Not only happening with InDesign but also with Photoshop both from Creative Cloud version.

Please Adobe solve this issue!

I think it's clear, from the lack of Adobe response on this thread, that they either don't know how to resolve this issue or don't care.

I see this in Photoshop on an M1 mini with two displays. Panels will be relocated slightly even without sleep, just locking the screen.

Still early, but I did install Ill 2023 yesterday and so far, the issue has not repeated itself either last night or this morn after the computer was asleep overnight. will report back if that changes.

Same thing
I'm on a Mac Mini M1 with 16GB and Ventura 13.1. It does not happen when mac goes sleep, but everytime I turn my monitor (eizo) off and on again. I have zero experience here, but found  this system option, which basically does not change a thing if activated or not.. but just thought if it may be that somehow Mac sees another device close to? Just an idea?? 😕😕

Basically: macOS doesn't recognize the display fast enough when waking up.

You will need to complain to Apple.

My computer is set to never sleep, I simply lock the screen. I suppose it might be the ports powering down? Really odd but not a huge problem.

I'm on a brand new Mac Studio running Monterey 12.6 with an LG 40" curved monitor and I have this issue too. It's really annoying.

Update: this is still happening with the CC 2023 release and macOS Ventura.

Despite promises that this critical issue was being addressed by Adobe engineers, nothing has improved.

Exactly the same for me. No change whatsoever.

Experiencing exactly the same issue. Using a MacBook Pro with Studio Display. Every time it wakes from sleep my Adobe windows are repositioned... everything else where it should be.

Hi, I had this problem for a short time when working with iMac 5k 27" and a 'cheap' LG monitor using a displayport cable, but it disappeard using a more expensive LG Monitor using a thunderbold 2 cable. I think that the LG 31MU97 could be a better port or cable reaction and so the iMac 'sees' the monitor faster/better and will not move the Indesign/Photoshop Panels.

Now with the macstudio working since july with a benq SW321C (usb-c/thunderbold 3/4 to dp 1.4 cable) and a LG 31MU97 (usb-c to thunderbold adapter+thunderbold 2 cable) I also did NOT have this panels problem. Strangely 3 weeks ago it returned and I really to not know why.  I removed the apple adapter and tried using 2x usb-c/thunderbold 3/4 to dp 1.4 cables, but the problem stil remains. Also the lock screen or hide options do not resolve my problem. After every wake up, the all panels of the 2nd screen are on the main screen (and sometimes also in chaotic order). I did not try with hdmi.

So maybe this is also a screen speed or cable issue?
