I have a serius problem with OTF fonts shipped with CS3 collection. I had to reinstall windows to solve this issue a couple of months ago and now it's bugging me again. When I double click on Minion (or other adobe OTF fonts) in fonts (control panel) i get this error: "The requested file c:\windows\fonts\MinionPro-BoldCn.otf was not a valid font file" And the worst thing is that the fonts are not being listed in any of the applications. I opened my project today and I got an error saying that Minion pro bold was not found. I was working on that project yesterday. what could have heppened since then? Please help me ASAP. Thank you.
hi I'm a student and I'm doing a little research about some font. I'm looking for some information about a Hebrew font Margliot. if someone knows who designed it, when and where and any other information about it Thanks:)
For those of you who didn't see it, Thomas Phinney has announced he is leaving Adobe. See the last paragraph of this blog http://blogs.adobe.com/typblography/2008/12/tlf_rasterization.html We're going to miss you, Thomas ... here's hoping you hang around this forum.
Dear members: I am not sure if this is the right forum to post this question but I couldn't find another one (in Adobe's forum page) that related to fonts so I decided to post my questions here. I am trying to identify a few fonts. Would it be possible to post a few PNG or JPEG files here with images of these fonts in order to get your help in identifying them ? In case this is possible how would I post an image to this forum ? In case this is not the right place would you please refer me to what would be the right forum to post these questions ? Thank you in advance for your help. Joseph Chamberlain
I need to install this font on my system and I am unable to load it into font book. Anyone have experience with this type of font file before? FWIW, it is a Chinese font. TIA.
Hi all, My company's corporate font is Univers, and for the past 8 years we have been using a Type 1 version for all our literature and materials. I recently was given a new workstation (HP EliteBook 8730w) and the video driver doesn't like Type 1 fonts. There's no telling how long it will take for HP and NVidia to come up with a new driver, so we're thinking about buying a the TrueType version of Univers so I can still do my job. My biggest concern is that I have numerous brochures (built in InDesign) that go through regular updates. Are there any issues that I should be aware of if we do switch to the TrueType version? Is there a chance that the fonts will be different enough to throw off my layouts and force me to re-format every printed piece that I have to update? Is there a chance that InDesign won't recognize the TT version as being the same font? Thanks in advance, Dave
Many of my files are claiming they are missing Arial. This has occurred suddenly. When I proceed to open the file, the font displays erratically all over the place. (when I select a text box, and check the Character palette, it displays a printer or postScript icon) It is as if it has forgotten that the font is installed. IT had made Windows updates to my system + added new hardware (Wacom tablet), and the issue began immediately after that! This issue occurs within all programs that have used Arial in saved files. Anything we can do about this? This same issue occured in the past, with another font family, after I got a new PC. There seemed to be a lot of uninstalling + reinstalling of fonts to resolve the issue. Thanks!
I need to find the codes for the Oldstyle tabular glyphs provided in this font. (I'm using PDFlib to build strings that include these glyphs.) Thnx!
Okay I'm looking at oodles of fonts. I'm looking for a font that says "modern (as in Internet age) yet still a conservative business." Dang if I know that would be. I've toyed with everything from Requiem (very elegant conservative) to Neuropol (futuristic). I guess I'll be here a while. But I thought I'd ask if anyone had any favorite fonts that would fit that theme... (I don't mind purchasing a font if I can find the right look.) Back to the game.... Thanks, Phyllis
I need to match the Helvetica Neue fonts listed in InDesign's "MIssing Fonts" dialog (viewed when opening the document). I already have older Type 1 version of all the weights, but I would like to purchase the OT fonts to match the font names exactly so that this dialog box does not appear. Here's what one document is asking for: "Helvetica Neue LT Pro 75 Bold" also "...65 Medium" and "...45 Light" Here's what another document is asking for: "Helvetica Neue LT LT 45 Light" (Yes, the 'LT' is duplicated) I am not able to locate Helvetica Neue in the Adobe Store with "Pro" in the name. Does anybody have an idea what is up with the 'Lt Lt'? Maybe these aren't even Adobe's fonts (Linotype appears to call their own "Neue Helvetica")? Any suggestions appreciated, thanks. Bart Blubaugh
Hi, Could you tell me what is the font please? thank you http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/595/textjw9.th.jpg
I know my question is probably out of place. I'm researching her for my typography class. Having a tough time finding recent information on Carol. I was able to find things about her past and what she has designed. I know she did work for Adobe, so I figured I'd try.
Hi, I have to mix another font with a logo that uses Bauhaus. Any ideas about either a serif or non serif font that goes well with Bauhaus? Thanks, L.
We use Myriad Pro for some brochures in foreign languages. When I type the letter 'й' in Myriad Pro (OTF) Regular for example it shows correctly in InDesign. When I use an italic it becomes a 'u'. This is a problem with the font, has anybody an idea what to do in such a case? We bought the font from Adobe, are their updates available or can I fix it myself? A workaround I have been using for now is to skew the regular. :°/
i think it was created on a mac.. anyone know what font this is? http://kablooey.net/larryisbananas/larrylogo.jpg
Any suggestions on how I can remove InDesign CS2 when I am getting an error message, "The wizard was interrupted before Adobe InDesign CS2 could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again."
I would like to mention something about this fashion of giving proper names and titles small initial letters. It looks absolutely awfull through my designers eyes. Is it not true that in the written word a proper name is defined by a capital letter? Otherwise, how would you know if it was a proper name or not? Therefore, does it not follow that if a written word does not have a capital letter it cannot by definition be a proper name? Therefore, in such cases as that rubbish and ludicrously expensive 2012 London Olympics logo the word 'london' on the logo is actually just gobbledygook because without a capital letter it cannot be a proper name and as far as I know there is no such word as 'london'. The only way it could be a proper name is if the first letter was a capital 'i', but is there such a place as Iondon (pronounced 'Eye-ondon')? And if there is, what Olympics are being held there in 2012? You have to have some way of defining a proper name otherwise confusion can be the resu
I am having trouble making sense of the descriptions. The actual otf family package seems to come with the following Optical flavours Caption Regular/undesignated Subhead Display Weights Undesignated Medium Semi-bold Bold Slant Undesginated (Roman) Italic I assume that MinionPro-Semibold.otf is the regular optical flavour, but how does MinionPro-Regular.otf differ from MinionPro-Medium.otf and MinionPro-Capt.otf differ from MinionPro-MediumCapt.otf?
Am I doing this right? Any advice for a young typographer? I do my typography, mostly for web and textile, in Flash. It has some pretty decent anti-aliasing. Not as good as Firefox, but better than what I've seen Photoshop and Illustrator being able to do. Granted, "Export Image" has a tendency to blur things, but if I take screenshots from within Flash and paste them into Photoshop, I get very clean and crisp results. Flash is also very simple. It's very easy to break up the letters (if the kerning is inaccurate, which it often is) and then re-adjust things manually.
I believe I need this question answered first and then I can go into other questions: Can a Post Script font from a Mac be used on a PC?
I create correct entries in tables and create font with FDK 2.0-WIN. I think either the FDK is at fault or the error message is wrong. Otherwise the italic weight should also get error. That is the FDK appends "Italic" to the "Full Name" but not "Regular". I have been sent new compareFamily by colleague Bob Tremallo (sent to him by Read Roberts in September) but it didn't help. compareFamily report: Single Face Test 3: Check that name ID 4 (Full Name) starts with same string as Preferred Family Name, and is the same as the CFF font Full Name. Error: Mac platform Full Name name id 4) 'Scherzo Pro' is not the same as the font CFF table Full Name, 'Scherzo Pro Regular', for Font ScherzoPro-Regular. FontMenuNameDB: [ScherzoPro-Regular] f=Scherzo Pro s=Regular [ScherzoPro-Italic] f=Scherzo Pro s=Italic Font Header: FontName ScherzoPro-Regular FullName Scherzo Pro Regular
I used to use ATM in Windows XP so that I could use the Multiple Master typefaces. Having downgraded to Vista on my new computer I cannot use ATM and so have had to buy Minion Pro Optical sets. However I cannot use them as I can't get to the small caps and old style figures. Previously these were in a separate file (the expert file) and I just switched typefaces. Now, in applications like Microsoft Word I cannot do that. Should I just buy a copy of the old type one (non-optical) faces and install them?
I am working on a project and am looking for a font that mimics this australian road sign. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/b2/Australian_National_Route_M80.svg/748px-Australian_National_Route_M80.svg.png&imgrefurl=http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Australian_National_Route_M80.svg&h=600&w=748&sz=41&hl=en&start=19&usg=__8P3-uCdlvk5IKO4fngSTcX8wRJE=&tbnid=qGfQMbAkt4V-9M:&tbnh=113&tbnw=141&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dm80%26gbv%3D2%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG Sorry for the long link. thanks in advance.
first, the adobe login and customer support pages are terrible. I had trouble logging in---the login toggled between claiming it did know me and that my name was already registered. I could not find a simple place to ask a pre-sales question, either. could someone please send me an email where to inquire about specific fonts PRE-SALES? I have a specific strange problem. My typesetter has used a particular set of fonts, that are so old that he does not remember where he got them from. I am 90% sure that they are adobe-linotype fonts, though. most work just fine, except for Optima fonts (op.pfb)---which I believe is another hint that these are adobe fonts, because the forums noted some problems with these fonts a long time ago. now, I want to purchase the 20 or so fonts he has used. I can get the afm files and the pfb files from him. is there a sales rep who we can email the fonts to, and this sales rep would then tell us what I need to purchase? [And, I also need the Optima font with
I would like to purchase some of the Swiss 721 SWA fonts that come with InDesign 3, but cannot find them in the Type listing. How can I buy these?
