Dear All, I have a Mac OSX 10.5.2 with Leopard. I have several problems using types with Adobe CS3. I can type in Times New Roman with Power Point-office but not with Illustrator or Indesign and I can't understand WHY!? I use fontbook to validate-turn on-turn off my fonts. pleeeeease, tell me why anToneLLa
I am looking for display fonts with a U.S. sixties touch, but not flower-power or hippie. Have there been clear styles in those days or was everything just experiments? I could use some help with the name of this 1970 headline font: http://www.sl-prokeys.com/stax/staxscans/fax1.jpg Thanks a lot!
Using ATM deluxe 4.1, with Windows XP pro and CS2. It appears that ATM is no longer being supported by Adobe. We are moving to CS3, would like a capable type management program to be used with that. Is Extensis Font Manager a viable solution? Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks.
(This message last edited 17 Jan 2004 to clarify details and remove one font from the list.) Bonus fonts bundled only with the Creative Suite - and not with the individual programs sold separately - are the *entire* Warnock Pro Opticals family. Additionally, the entire Brioso Pro opticals family is offered as an online registration incentive for North American customers, as one of several choices of bonus goodies. If you get both, that's an extra 74 fonts! If you buy the applications separately, you still get 137 fonts, mind you. If one buys single applications, they come with fewer fonts. To check out the differences, see the comparison here: Robert Levine, "Creative Suite vs. InDesign CS vs. Illustrator CS bundled fonts" #12, 5 Nov 2003 7:58 am"> "Creative Suite vs. InDesign CS vs. Illustrator CS bundled fonts" Below are the fonts you get in both "standard" and "premium" versions of the Creative Suite (the professional edition does not add more fonts). All of this, including t
I have fonts legally on both my desktop and notebook. The desktop crashed and I need to reinstall the fonts. Both are PC machines running WinXP Pro. Do I have to install the fonts from the original disks going through the "install" procedure, or can I wholesale copy them from the "fonts" folder in Windows on notebook to the same folder on the PC?
Hello, On a Win98 box, I have ATM Deluxe 4.0 installed. I recently wanted to install some .otf fonts from Adobe and could not. Is it true that I neet ATM v.4.1 rather than 4.0? If yes, given that ATM Deluxe 4.1 is no longer available, can I install ATM Light 4.1 over ATM Deluxe 4.0 without any problems? All help appreciated, G. Amik
I need help with a HP LaserJet 5200 (tabloid size laser printer) and OTF fonts. Ever since i switched to .otf fonts, I am having issues printing helvetica LT STD or any of the LT STD fonts for that matter. the fonts are all activated using Suitcase Fusion and Quark 6.5. Is anybody else having issues like this? I can't upload .otf fonts to the printer memory, so any suggestions? the printer defaults to courier when trying to print .otf fonts. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I have misplaced my system font called Times(TT). Even after installing the new system version 10.5.2 the font was not reinstalled. I tried to reinstall from my font collection but that doesn't even work. Help!
Does anyone know of a font similar to 'orator std' that contains lower case type also (not just smaller capitals)? Thanks in advance.
I have two stickers, I need to recreate: This one has two fonts I am completely clueless about: http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/595/s5001227uh6.jpg and this one I believe to be Helvetica Bold? http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/7875/s5001239qi6.jpg Any ideas?
When I was in school, serif style fonts were considered the standard for to be used for content text in documents designed for print. Has that position changed? I am looking to redesign a magazine I prepare which is offered as a pdf on line but is designed primarily for print. What are the current standards for optimal legibility? Is there a definitive source of information on this?
This is my first time on this forum so I will be as brief as I can be. I have misplaced my system font called Times(TT). Even after installing the new system version 10.5.2 the font was not reinstalled. I can live without this font other than it being a pain when InDesign keeps asking for it or notifies me that it's missing. I tried to reinstall from my font collection but that doesn't even work. Help! Thanks, Peter Winston-Salem, NC
Hi, we manage our fonts extensively (using Suitcase Fusion), and only the bare minimum system fonts are left handled by the system. We use a lot of our own fonts to override system fonts, etc. We keep it real clean. So we just got the new MS Office 2008 suite. It comes with about 130 fonts. A lot are fonts we already have. Some are .ttf versions of PostScript fonts we have. Some are upgraded versions of fonts shipped with previous versions of Office. - Anyone have a good handle and management strategy for all of these fonts? - How about preference to keeping our PostScript versions vs. the TT fonts that are included? I've heard the fonts included are Unicode. Any value? We just do NOT want to have multiple versions of the same fonts. In the past our PostScript versions of fonts were usually more complete, having a greater range of weights, etc. But I don't know if the Office apps need the Unicode functionality of these new TT fonts. We would prefer to use OpenType fonts exclusive
I am trying to convert a symbol font I constructed and have been using in PostScript programs to OpenType. I have included a cut-down version (only two characters) in this message. When I try to convert the (cut-down) font with MakeOTF I get the message: [makeotf] Error: could not find FontName in FontDict of file GPSymbolcut.pfa. Can you tell me what the error message indicates here, please? I feel that the FontName is included! The Adobe Open Type Font Developer Kit has a lot of Python programs licensed under the BSD license, but some proprietary C programs too. With the opening of the Adobe Open Source website, it would be great if the source code to the C programs could be released under the same license :-)
I have a real mess and I'm not getting anywhere with the Support Agents I've spoken too. I purchased and downloaded a Flash Template from a site called css-templates.org Upon attempting to modify this Template, I found I wasn't able to access the text used in this template. So I contacted this company and asked how do I modify the text and was told to goto Adobe and download their Adobe Text Manager, which I did and after running the exe file, all I saw was a DOS Command flash on the screen and nothing much else. The results of this however created a operating mess in my system and corrupted my QuickTime Apps. and I also discovered Firefox no longer launched. After calling Adobe, I was told ATM was already in my system and I should not have had to download this. Then I was prompted to remove the recent ATM I downloaded. Well apparently I removed too much and created even more of a mess. So now my system is waked.. I un-installed FF and downloaded once it again but I'm finding it's no
When using Myriad Pro fonts in reverse (any variant), the font won't print. Any ideas? Other fonts print without problems.
I am beginning to implement support for GPOS lookup types 3-6, the attachment lookup types, in makeotf. I would like to change the feature file syntax for Mark-to-Base and Mark-To-Mark, and would welcome comments on the following proposal.<br /><br />Background:<br /><br />The way these lookups work is to first define one or more classes of glyphs as mark glyphs (for example, TopMarks and BottomMarks). Mark glyphs are glyphs used only for adding marks to base glyphs. No glyph can be used both as a mark glyph ine one context and as a base glyph in another context.<br /><br />Each base glyph must then have defined an attachment point for each mark class ( say, Top Attachment Point and Bottom Attachment Point). A particular base glyph attachment point is associated with a particular class of mark glyphs simply by index order: the first mark class goes with the set of first attachment point in each base glyph.<br /><br />I see a couple proble
Hi- I'm not sure if this is the right place for me to be posting this question but if anybody can help me with this, it would be appreciated. I have been using a PC for years but now I have decided to switch to a Mac. I'm a graphic designer and have a huge collection of windows-based fonts. I just purchased a brand new MacPro and I was just wondering if windows-based fonts will work on a mac? If not, what would you suggest I should do? Thanks
I am trying to use this kind of font: www.asappaving.com , where it says: ASAPPAVING, so what kind of product of adobe I could use to do this. A type of font that I could manage the color of the letters and manage the boards (thicker or thinner) and add some stars. Or something similar. I have tried flash and photoshop, but it did not work. Please I would appreciate if somebody could help me with that. Thanks
Having major problems with nearly all my old fonts on the MacPro ( leopard ) and illustrator CS3. On the old Mac and ai CS2 things were running great. The most common error message regarding type is when opening CS2 artwork containing Myriad Pro Black and itallic.( and hundreds of other fonts ) Do any of you out there have a fix for this Actually I feel wery mislead by Adobe and Apple spending more than $ 5.000 on the CS3 premium pack and a MacPro. .... without getting one single hint that there would be difficulties opening artwork previous to CS3 and Leopard. Smells a bit of Gates this one guys !
I convert a simhei.ttf to a Type 42 format font file named a.pfa and then use a.pfa to create a PS file printTest.ps . When i implement this job under Windows XP using XP's font simhei.ttf , HP 5500 printer can accomplish this print job perfectlly. But when i implement this job under Windows Vista using Vista's font simhei.ttf , HP 5500 printer does nothing.(No paper is out.) When i change to use FujiXero printer both of them can be printed perfectlly. Question: 1. If there are some differences between creating Type42 font from a TrueType font and OpenType font ?(May be it is not the reason why there is no paper out, because i have intest it in XP version using a XP's OpenType font.) 2. If there are some differences between Windows XP's OpenType fonts and Windows Vista's fonts? 3. If there are some different implementations of PostScript language by different printer vendors? If it is true , if it can be said that different implementations of PostScript Language result in the dif
