Hi all,I am using RH2020.1.54.The quality of my images is suffering greatly when I make an PDF output. The quality was not completely good with 2019 new UI, but it was way better than it is now.I am using the following settings: image format is png, image is scaled to 96 ppi. The size in RH is not set to any fixed manual value, but automatical.PDF output is using the "default" resolution, which should also be 96 ppi. This is how my image looks in original and also in HTML5 output:This is how the image looks in the PDF output set to 100%So, it is definitely being resized. Can anyone tell me which settings I have to make to get clean images in my PDF output? Thanks in advance!Karin
This seems to have been a problem with a numnber of releases of RH, but does anyone have a workaround—other that going under the hood—for hiding the index button in generated output. I have deselected Include index in the preset and, whatever skin I choose, the index button still appears.
Hi again. Today, all I added to a RH project was a masterpage with breadcrumbs. I don't know if this is related, but all of a sudden one of my heading styles—once bold and red—is not displaying as it was before. What is strange is that when I look at a topic with this style in it in Author view and Preview, the heading style renders correctly (bold and red). When I look at the Source view, the right class is being applied. And when I look at the style in the CSS—Heading3NonTOC—it is bold, 13 pt and red (#DE350B): So the CSS is being applied correctly in RH. But when I generate HTML 5, the heading is rendered 12 pt normal and black. Adding to the strangemess, when I interrodate the generated HTML, the heading that is 12 pt normal and black is styled with the CSS class that says it should be bold and red:<p class="Heading3NonTOC">Expanding and collapsing elements</p>I'm thoroughly lost! Any ideas?
Hi,I recently upgraded a project from RoboHelp 2019 Classic to RoboHelp 2020 (v2020.1.54). I have a topic called Appendix B that displays when I output to HTML, but does not appear when I output to Word/PDF. I duplicated the Online TOC and switch the duplicate TOC to a Book TOC format so that I could add a "front matter" Table of Contents in the Word/PDF. Appendix B is in the new Book TOC, hide in output is not selected, and for some reason when I output a document, Appendix B does not appear there. It skips right from Appendix A to Appendix C. Any ideas why this might be happening? The only way Appendix B is different is that it has several lengthy tables on it, but that shouldn't make the page disappear entirely.
Sometimes when I open a project that was created in RH 2019 in RH 2020, and when I get the error message to say upgrade, and I upgrade. And I am able to generate ouput successfully (at least I get a message to say output is generated) and then I find that no output has been generated and when I close the project and open it again in RH 2020 I get the same message to say that I have to upgrade my project again. Its like the upgrade hasnt taken place properly. Has anyone else had this?
Hi, Everyone. In RH 2019 (new UI), is it possible to specify the behavior of hyperlinks? What I would prefer is the hyperlink to open in a new tab. Currently, hyperlinks open in the same tab. And I have to use the back button to return to my help document. This dynamic has two drawbacks: My end user might mistakenly close the tab when done visiting the hyper-linked external site. When I use the back button to return to the help, it takes me back to the help, but with all drop-down text collapsed, even if they were all open before, and I lose my place on the page. Thank you!
In the merged output, each set of release notes is a child project. In this screenshot, you can see that you can navigate to a second level TOC entry in the merged output and the table of contents still displays:In the screenshot below, going to the same second level TOC entry for anther child project and the table of contents does not display. This is happening for several projects and I cant work out what is different between the projects that are working and the projects that arent working. I tried creating a new project from scratch with one of the problem projects and got the same issue. Here are the steps I performed:In RH 2020, File > New projectCreated new topicsCopied the content from each of the old topics in the old RH project to notepad ++ and then copied the content from notepad ++ to the new topics and reformatted the content in the new topics. Copied the css file from the old project to the new project. In the new project, added a studio skin and generat
Hi,Trying to recreate a project since I do not have the source file with me. In this project, we use a special font called Roboto. How does one get this font? Do we need the help of IT team to install this with the RoboHelp software. I do not know what was done earlier, I had simply inherited the file with this font already available in the Styles pane whenever I would launch RoboHelp on my desktop. Currently, I am using a laptop with RoboHelp 11 installed.
I have installed the 2020 trial but when I start it, all it says is that an error occurred
I want to create merged output from a number of different projects. The thing is I have different TOCs in the same project. Can I specify different TOCs from the same child project in the merged output? In other words:Parent project Child project TOC 1 TOC 2Can I do need to have one TOC per child project?
Hello, I have installed RoboHelp 15 but when I click on "Start free trial", I always get the message "An error occurred". I cannot get past this screen. I have installed RoboHelp on three different machines already and the problem is the same. I installed first with admin privileges. The second time I asked the system administrator to install from his admin account. He tried installing it in a location other than the default as well (to check if the problem is that RoboHelp cannot write to the Program Files folder or something similar). It is always the same issue. Thanks in advance for your help.
I have published a responsive HTM project with various topics assigned map numbers. I was under the impression that I could check context-sensitivty by entering, in a browser's address line:/index.htm?rhmapno=x where x is a map number in the map file. However, all that occurs is that the help displays with the specified first topic, not the topic with the specified map number. Clearly this newbie is doing something wrong. Can anyone please help?
I just upgraded to RH2020 from RH2017, so things are very different.Where do you store your image folder in RH2020?Do you add them to assets?Where do you store the documents that you link to?Do you add them to assets? When I put an image folder where I thought it should go, they did not appear in the output because RH couldn't find them. Thanks
Hi All I'm a new user to RH I have .hlp files that MicroSoft no longer support in Windows 10 and Server2012 R2. I've been in contact with Adobe online help etc but being new to this process I'm dumb as a bag of hammers as my engineering friends would say.I need to convert several said files to a format that is compatiable with Windows 10 and Server2012 R2, firstly as stand alone files opened by a user and searched on for help topics.Once this is achieved then the application they belong too will hopefully have a code change so the new format of file opens directly to the help files from the application. as it did with the .hlp filesI have been advised to do the following by Adobe help online to convert the old files.I have been able to.Open the files in RH 2019 Classic, save them as a project, Open in RH 2019 and upgrade the RH Classic fileOpen RH 2020 and Publish to I thought Responsive HTML5.I have published a smaller sized file but it has chapters removed o
I have a project that was created using RoboHelp 11. It is a very big project, about 2GB in file size. It has 4+ years of textual content (more than 500+ topics), SWF files (video simulations), PDFs, and a lot of PNGs alongwith other RoboHelp file types. There are also several customisations done on the look and feel of the WebHelp. When I tried to convert the entire project, RoboHelp 2017 simply became non-responsive and closed down on its own. I have tried converting the project to 2017 several times but the outcome is always the same. I am trying to upgrade this project because I have inherited other projects created using 2017 and I need to maintain all of them. Hence, I can only have one software version installed on my system. Can anybody share with me the best ways to convert or upgrade a project of this size with myriad of elements?
Attempting to upgrade a legacy projet from RoboHelp 2017 to RoboHelp 2019 New. Successfully upgraded it from 2017 to 2019 Classic. However, attempting to upgrade from 2019 Classic to 2019 New results in RoboHelp "freezing" on the "Project Upgrade" modal with "Upgrading files..." message. The modal's X and i functions are unresponsive. Hangs like this for 30-60 minutes before I just kill it and start from scratch. My other project upgrades take 10 minutes, maybe. Note: 2017 and 2019 all have the latest updates installed. (Need to get to 2019 before moving to 2020.) I've successfully performed this upgrade (2017 to 2019 Classic to 2019 New) for other projects, so clearly there's something in this one that's the issue. Is there a "project upgrade" log file somewhere I can examine to help identify the hangup?
I upgraded my project from Robohelp2017 to Robohelp2020. After the generation of the output, I can't open the topic linked to the section in the TOC. However, I can open that topic from the homepage.
I am running Robohelp 2019 successfully but cannot upgrade to 2020 from the download file RH. The installation appears to install without problem but when running the program it hangs after the Initialising... message disappears. So far I have tried uninstalling all instances and removing all traces of previous versions from program files and progfles 86, appdata etc then reinstalling from the RoboHelp_15_LREFDJ.zip file.
Is Adobe still supporting RoboHelp 2017? If so, when will the support end?
First thanks to all who have already provided answers to my beginner questions. I am nearing the end of my project. But one question remains.Basically I have two manuals: a reference manual, and a separate manual for Python scripting commands. They are both in the same TOC, with their HTML content generated in their own folders and subfolders.I want both of them to be generated together for the HTML version, so that they both appear in the left TOC pane. But then I want each manual (Reference, and Python) to be generated as their own PDF, with their own separate indexes. From what I can see at this point, the index entries are not showing up separately, they are all combined into a single index. Will I need to rearrange my project somehow so that I can accomplish both outputs for HTML, and separate outputs for PDF?I hope this question makes sense.
Hi all,I am currently testing RH2020, until now my project was created with RH2019 new UI. In 2019, I could perfectly create my PDFs using a master page with header and footer. The page margin defined in the PDF output settings also applied to the master page. Now, in RH2020, this no longer works. The body is within the correct margins, but my header and footer are directly at the outmost position of the page. I tried with my existing master page and also created a new one.I could not find anything useful in the master page definition section to adjust this, so I did enter the margins manually in the code section. However, I am wondering if there is some more elegant way that works more smoothly. Ideas? Thanks and regardsKarin
I almost have GIT working perfectly. Unfortunately I need to remove a connection. This option exists in the menu, but doesn't specify which connection I am removing. There is one decent video online*, but the robot voice is a killer. Any chance anyone has actually, methodically, meticulously explained how to set this up so that it works? * https://youtu.be/Z947x-lk0Ko
In the Help menu, when I click on the "check for updates" option, it opens Creative Cloud. Robohelp is part of the Technical Communication Suite. Not the Creative Cloud suite (like Photoshop). Therefore, how can I make sure Robohelp running on my PC is up to date??
Is there a way to change the font size of the header when generating Responsive HTML5? I've looked at the skin but I am unable to find something that changes the font size of the header. I want to change it because it's wrapping on the output and the second line is squished. Thank you.
In RoboHelp 2019, I used WebHelp to CHM to generate a CHM file that had a skin. In the RH2020, there is no WebHelp to CHM option that I can find. If I generate a Microsoft HTML Help output, the CHM is generated without a skin. I can't figure out a way to get the skin on this output.
