Hello Everyone, In reading through forums I have found best practice when output is required in a variety of languages is to create a separate RH project for each language in its own directory. Re: Bilingual help application The post is quite old, 2007. Does this recommendation still hold for RoboHelp 2019 or does it make more sense to use conditional attributes?Topic was mentioned in RH 2019 webinar, but too briefly.Thank you!
I've created a 'user guide' with RoBoHelp 2017 that uses Azure_Blue layout generated as a Responsive HTML 5. It looks fabulous when using the index.html from my computer in Chrome, Internet Explored, Edge and Firefox. When I open the 'user guide' from the link in our software (from the internet) it looks great in Edge and Firefox but I receive the following in IE and Chrome: My software developer believes it has something to do with the following blank area:Any thoughts?
I have used RoboHelp2017 to author an online user manual. This includes videos, glossary, index, images, links and using the Search. Our users navigate to this using Edge, Chrome, Firefox andIE. The manual works – opens in all of them. The videos play, theimages enlarge when selected, links work. Unfortunately, the search feature is not working in internetexplorer. I had one of our software developers look into it and there isa Syntax error. I am using:Adobe RoboHelp 2017I have reproduced the error in: IE version 11.0.9600.19129Please advise.Colleen
I'm cheating I know but this is a two-part question...We have a team of Technical Writers who work on multiple projects. Often we work on the same projects and we need to share the same screen layouts. We are working in RH2017 and would like to share the contents of a screen layout folder which we named HMI. The structure then is "D:\git\<productname>\Help\<projectname>\!ScreenLayout!\HMI" for example. The first issue is when we attempt to share a file within that folder, RH always adds the file to the root of the RH project folder and immediately adds it as a baggage file. This is, of course, working as designed. Unfortunately, we don't want it in the root, we want it in the HMI screen layout folder in order for the shared resource functionality for our screen layouts to work correctly. To get around this, we end up having to manually open both the rhbag.apj and rhscreenlayout.apj files in a text editor and manually update them so the paths correctly point to the HMI folder.T
Does Responsive HTML5 output any help mappings javascript file that has all mapids?
Hi,Has anyone else encountered errors when generating RoboHelp 2015 WebHelp with Windows 10? I have installed all patches/updates for RH 2015. This occurred after installing a Windows 10 Security Update. RoboHelp is installed on my hard drive and my files are generated there as well. I called Adobe and they were not helpful. We are a small company and our IT Support also is struggling to figure this out. I had this error a week or so ago...a Windows update broke it...then the next Windows update fixed it. But the newest Windows update installed last Friday Aug. 11, 2017 broke it again. Un-installing the security update did not fix it. Below is the error message from the Application Event Viewer. Thanks, LoriFaulting application name: RoboHTML.exe, version: 12.0.4.460, time stamp: 0x581aee66Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 10.0.10586.672, time stamp: 0x580efaf8Exception code: 0xc0000374Fault offset: 0x000dc799Faulting
RH 2017 13.0.2.334Greetings RoboHelpers! After 14 years of merged help .chm goodness in RoboHelp, we are finally making the switchover to using web-based help, specifically using the Responsive HTML5 layout. We're also trying to mimic the merged help we had in the chms. This week I've been working at converting our help system outputs to that format, creating layouts etc, and getting the merged help figured out. I have the merged help working, but have a few questions:First, I saw on Peter's site, information about about a javascript redirect in his instructions: Merged WebHelp and HTML5 HelpWhat is the purpose of that js redirect? I didn't really understand its purpose and so didn't implement it.Second, our parent help project that the child helps are merged beneath does contain a few topics itself. What is the best way to link to those parent topics in RoboHelp from the child projects? How can I maintain those links when topic files get renamed?Third, simiilar to second, what ab
Hi there,I am working on some files that previously published ok, now when I try to generate the HTML5 output it is not opening to my default topic and when I click on the topics they won't open:My output settings are set as they usually would be to generate and open at my default topic (but it is not working):
When opening a project in RoboHelp 2017, how do I prevent the topics I worked in the previous time I had the project open from automatically opening? When I open the project, I want to see only the Starter pod. I assume there is some simple configuration, but I can't find it.
hi i need some help to understand how searching is working in robohelp i had an idea to include Arabic stemming feature so i tried to analyses the search how its works in adobe robohelp what i understand is but i'm no sure that index have alphabet structure to speed up the process of searching rather than search the whole index files,so if i search for example "help" it will begin to to find the closet match words that start with this characters of the search words until find it and the code responsible for that is in mhfhodt.js: this.getWordRec = function ( a_strQuery , bPhraseSearch) { if (!bPhraseSearch && IsStopWord(a_strQuery, gaFtsStop)) return ""; // Return empty if no phrase search and term is a stop word. var i; var begi
Hello I am producing manuals in unstructured Framemaker 10. I want to take these manuals online, build a help file and eventually have a manual on an ipad/iphone. I have the following questions:Coming from Framemaker, will Robohelp be a logical program to learn?Does Robohelp work along side Framemaker? Why should I not use Madcap's Flare? Thanks!
A few months back, I had a query regarding the character #t in the Responsive HTML5 URL. This is the expected behavior is what I understand. In the same context, I had a somewhat similar query today. When the URL picks up file from a sub-folder, it adds %2F in the URL in addition to #t. Is that an expected behavior? See screenshot below: The development team was finding it tough to launch the context-sensitive help with this so they were checking if this is expected or can it be changed from RoboHelp? The second question is, are the file names context-sensitive in Responsive HTML5?If the help file is About_Product.htm and the code refers to it as about_product.htm, will it break the call?Any pointers or information to handle context-sensitive help calls with this URL would be helpful if you can share.
I´m new with Robohelp and just trying to figure out if Robohelp is right program for me.Is it possible to use Robohelp so i can create for example "help or how-to-do files" in an existing program, for example Microsoft Word or in this case our business program (this is bought boxed program). I need a program that we can create "how-to-do or help files" that can be accessed direct from examples above program so we easily can help new employees with how-to-do help.Example: A employee that don't remember exactly how he/she should make same adjustments on a printer when he/she print a document in Microsoft Word or create a order in our business program etc... Is it possible to use Robohelp and create a how-to-do or help just by example press CTRL+F1 in existing program above?
Hello,Is it possible to link directly to text within a drop-down text in RH2017 (meaning, the drop-down will expand and link directly to its designated image/text), instead of it only jumping to the hotspot?I manage several projects with multiple (10-12) FAQ topics, each topic containing 0-15 FAQs, so I use DHTML drop-down hotspots/text for each FAQ, just makes it look neater/shorter. But it gets very confusing (and honestly doesn't even make sense) when the links jump only to the hotspot and not directly to the corresponding text within the hotspot that I am referring to.I asked this question in a separate Forum thread (How can I configure Robohelp to display search results in DHTML drop-down hotspots? ) a few weeks ago, and have not received an answer.Thank you so much!!Tabby W.
I'm using the latest RH 2017 build.I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around some aspects of our Dynamic Filters in our merged responsive HTML5 help system:I have several child helps that we're filtering on. The user needs to have the ability to turn on or off those child help systems. To handle this, I'm creating CBTs for each help and am having them applied to their respective .htms within each child project. Currently, I've done two child helps (Portable and CMM) so far. The htms within them are tagged with these topic-level CBTs respectively:f_help_portablef_help_cmmThe Dynamic Filters with those CBTs are grouped under a "Help" group in the Dynamic Content Filter portion of the SSL (see green-bounded item in image below). This works fine so far, and users can show and hide the child helps as needed. Now to complicate matters, I have other Dyanmic Filters for probe type ("Probe"), product variation ("Variation"), and user role ("Role") that I've also applied to other areas of t
Hi,I'm currently working on getting our RoboHelp 2017 (Update 2) project to compile properly via RHCL. In our project, we use a heavily customized version of the Indigo layout. I noticed that, when I use RHCL to compile the project via the command line, the Filter buttons and panes (on Start and Topic pages) are not included in the output, even though dynamic content filters are activated in the used Output Setup and Layout. At first I suspected that it has something to do with our customizings to the Indigo layout, so I tried the same thing with a completely new project with only 2 topics and no CSS or layout customizings. The topics have two conditional tags "casual" and "power" assigned (on topic-level) and the TOC shows them in hierarchical order Topic 1 (causual) >> Topic 2 (power). The dynamic content filter is set up to either include or exclude the topic with "power" tag (via conditional expression). This is the project which I then tried to compile manually and with RHCL.
For our flaship product, we have a merged help. For each help inside that, we have two Responsive HTML5 SSLs, one for internal and one for external.I've defined some Dyanmic Content Filters (DCFs) that I plan on using. So far, the filters are defined in our internal SSLs:But I want to copy and use those same DCFs into the public SSLs. Can I do that? If so, how? I looked in the .ssl file in Notepad++, and I didn't see any references to the DCFs. Where are those stored?
Hi All,I write a document for multiple sites. There are many site-specific descriptions, that soon will be too difficult to handle. I was thinking to create some kind of flags, that the reader can select in a drop-down list (which version to read). For example he/she selects "Site A", then only those texts appear that are specific for "Site A" and all sites.Basically I am looking for something like Conditional Build Tags, with the exception that there is only one output and the reader is able to select the version that he/she wants to read (he/she can access all versions of the document). Is there a script available for that purpose? If so, how can I refer to the site-specific texts in the script?Thank you very much in advance!
Is there a frameless layout similar to Ocean (that is deprecated in RH 2017) in the next version of RH, which is RH2019?Something that suits a help center than the traditional online help.
I have the version control add-in Team Foundation Server MSSCCI Provider installed for the RoboHelp application. When I check in my changes and print the topic (File > Print Design), the RoboHelp application force-closes after the PDF is published.
I am wondering what the default method is to track hits to the Help, is it google analytics and server based? Is it any different than in past versions of RH pre-2019?-Cheers,William
I will most likely have to upgrade, since we are using Office 365. I looked at the system requirements - RoboHelp System Requirements and while 2017 specifies Office 365, I notice that Robo 2019 does not. Is that an issue if we are using Office 365?My other issue is that I've always used Robo on a mac VM, so I would probably have to switch back to a laptop as well, since I don't think we have win 10 available. Why do they hate macs? General question, I'm at the start of a new project... how difficult is it to convert from RoboHelp 11 to 2019 and be running without any delay? I really miss not being able to print to pdf for certain people who refuse to look online (no comment...)Many thanks, have a wonderful weekend!Anahid
We have a help project that was generated with RoboHelp 2015. I have downloaded the trial of RoboHelp 2019. I tried importing our existing project into RH2019 (non-classic). Only a few (10 or 15 out of a couple of thousand) messages show up in the help (WebHelp). I imported the same project into the classic RH2019 and it works fine. Any ideas why the new one wouldn't work?Phil
I am wondering how media is stored in RH 2019, does it have a media library that lets me upload images and videos?
