Hello,I have a project I'm working on right now where I created Printed Document output as Word document. I'm manually fixing styles and formatting. I'm trying to add a .05" inner margin on the left margin of every cell in each table. I'm following these steps:Select the table. On the Layout ribbon, click on Propertiesin the Table Properties window, click Optionschange the left margin to 0.05"Click OKSomewhere in this procedure, for the last 10 attempts this process has crashed Word, requiring shutting down the program and re-opening and dealing with Recovered documents. This is not the first time this has happened to me. Almost consistently when working in table formatting in a Word document created by RoboHelp for Printed Document output, I run into this.Any thoughts or solutions? If not, I'm going to be bald before this project is done! Thanks,MDawn
Robohelp 11 WebhelpAnswers to this question in the forums say that to generate webhelp with an expanded toc requires using 508, thus eliminating other features. However, has anyone tested under-the-cover methods? This link looks useful. Because it's for docbook perhaps it would need tweaking, but seems like it might run in the css file.https://searchcode.com/codesearch/view/2566199/#Thanks for your thoughts.
It appears my user defined variables file has been corrupted. When I generate the HTML5 output, the project shows up correctly, but each variable is gone and replaced with the "ERROR (variable_missing...)" wording. Please help! Where can I find the variable file and copy an older version into the latest project?
Caveats: I am new to this forum and have been using RH 2015 since the end of May. I'm somewhere between beginner and intermediate with CSS and HTML, and I know nothing about JQuery or javascript.I have tweaked the Desktop Catalog with Home Page multiscreen layout so that it has a fixed header and the content scrolls up underneath the header. This works well and looks lovely until clicking a link to an anchor, such as when using the MiniTOC to navigate in a topic. The anchor loads underneath the header at the top of the browser window instead of below the header at the top of the visible space. After investigating the problem, I had hoped that I had found a fix at Hashtag Links that Don't Headbutt the Browser Window, but it didn't work.More research and digging into how RH configures its bookmark anchors and I discovered that the bookmarks are configured with a <a name="blahblah"></a>tag for the anchors instead of a <h1 id="b
Hi, all.My .chm files open with the Search tab displayed, not the TOC. How do I correct this?Thanks!--Nancy
I am using RoboHelp 2015. One of the outputs that we use is XML Outputs. In our template we us a placeholder for breadcrumbs. These work fine for our CHM and WebHelp outputs.I saw in the RoboHelp help that breadcrumbs are not generated for XML Outputs.I was wondering if anyone has found a way to "force" breadcrumbs for XML Outputs.Thank you,Debbie Sarig
I've tried researching this already in the forum, but the most recent posts were at least three years old. I just want to be sure that if I did generate a 508-compliant project, there wouldn't be any problems.thanx!Lon Richardson
Is there a way to copy my entire project (styles, master pages, all topics and images, and snippets and tags) to rename and make a new project? I want to use the original project as a start for my new one.
We have just purchased the 2015 Technical Suite. We have been using Robohelp 7. We branched our data so I am working with a separate folder. We do not not have links to Framemaker, snippets, or variables. We have an enormous Help project (almost 40,000 html files.) Before we start, yes, I know we need to reduce the size, use snippets, variables and Framemaker. I inherited this thing and have plans to do all that, but first, I'd like to convert to the upgraded software. Also, we are using Microsoft Visual Studio as source control. When I opened my first project, I got the message that it needed to upgrade. I expected that. But is it going have ask me to check in every one of those 40,000 files? And it is deleting syn files. Is that a bad thing? I guess the two most important questions are : Am I going to have to check in every singe file and is it deleting these files OK? It's scaring me....Any advice before I go on?Thanks.Susan
I converted projects from RH8 to 2015 a few months ago, and have noticed that a vertical scroll bar appears in some text-only popups in each project. I'm not sure why this is happening, and there is no need for the scroll bar - all of the content appears within the popup anyway and the scroll bar is kind of grayed out. Here is an example (a):If you right-click on the popup and refresh it, the scroll bar goes away (example b):However, you have to do that every time to get the scroll bar to go away. If you click out of the popup and then open it again, the scroll bar appears and it looks like example a. While this isn't a huge issue, it's enough that people are complaining about it. Also, it doesn't do this in every popup - some of them look perfectly fine (no scroll bar) as soon as you click on them (example c):I can't find what is causing this to happen. I've compared the htm files for the two popups (good and bad) in Notepad, and they both hav
I have the latest RH 2015 (12.0.3.428) on a Windows 64 bit machine. Our primary output is CHM.We're working on dynamic documentation themes. We want to allow our users to choose between Light and Dark themed CSS files. I've modified our header in the .htt to load in the correct css file whenever they click on a Light or Dark link, like this:Light theme:Dark theme:Pretty nifty huh? Yeah, that part works great. (I have jQuery under the hood pulling in the right css filename.)But it's not persistent, and is, frankly, useless without persistence. Any time I change to a new topic or reload the chm, the chosen css state goes away. So I thought Cookies should do the trick. And they do work... in normal chm-less topics. But they don't work in a chm. I cannot read or set cookie information in a chm (even though the same .htm outside of a chm works just fine). The minute I try to bring the file into a chm, and use it to set cookies, it doesn't work. So, my question is this:Has anyone come up with
I am a service tech for our company, and we have just given a computer to a user. I need to transfer his robohelp from one omputer to another, however i cannot find a link to download version 10. I have extracted the key from the old computer, now I need the software. Is there any way to get this software?
I recently loaded RoboHelp 2015 to my laptop. When I open up RoboHelp my starter pod appears like this:I have seen others screen and it appears differently. I have looked at the help and searched the web but cannot figure out how to set it up so it appears differently. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Diana
In a brand-new project, I've linked to 16 Word documents. I have dragged each of them to the "System_Information" folder within RoboHelp so that I can drag that folder to the TOC designer and recreate the TOC after I update a Word document. I created the screen capture below after I dragged the "System_Information" folder from the left into the TOC designer. Notice that the book for "Telephone System (NEC)" is created at the bottom of the TOC instead of between the "OnBase" and "VOALTE" books. My observation was that the TOC was creating the TOC in alpha order, but perhaps that's incorrect?I then deleted "Telephone System (NEC).docx" from my project, including all the HTML files. I went to the directory that contains that Word document and renamed it and then re-linked it to the RoboHelp project. When I dragged the folder to the TOC designer, it put the book at the bottom of the TOC:Is there a reason why the TOC isn't matching up with the folder structure? This is more annoying than any
I'm using RoboHelp 2015, WebHelp and converting to Word doc then to pdf.I'd like to include the pdf version of each module in the online help so the user can print the pdf document. This is a request by the CEO. I've been searching the help and the forum for answers and I'm still not quite sure how to do this.I keep reading about baggage files, but I can find no definition of what a baggage file is. Can someone help? Is this what I would use to include the pdf for printing. I'd like the pdf to appear at the bottom of the TOC for each module. The end user can then click on the pdf file and print it. Thanks in advance for your help,MDawn
I'm using RH 2015 to link to Word 2013 docments in Sharepoint (no importing, just linking). If text in Word has a URL link that doesn't have a hashtag, the URL converts fine in RH.For example: http://www.webpage.com in Word results in this code in RH: <a href="http://www.webpage.com">If the text in Word has a URL with a hashtag in it, the href is empty in RH.For example: http://www.webpage.com#paragraph in Word becomes this in RH: <a href="">Is there a hashtag setting I'm missing?
Hello,I forgot to mention in my title that I'm using RoboHelp 2015 and publishing WebHelp. I have a project where my first topic provides a list of the tasks that can be completed from the main screen. I'm creating WebHelp and Word to convert to pdf. When I convert the RoboHelp project to Printed Document, there is one item on a bulleted list that does not convert to a hyperlinked item in the Word doc. The remaining 15 items do convert. The WebHelp project works fine.I have deleted the topic from the TOC and replaced it; I have made sure the links work and connect to the correct topics. I have tested the links in the RH project and they work fine. As I say, all the other 15 links work fine in RH and in Word.Any suggestions on what I should look for? Thanks,MDawn
Hi all,How do people manage merged projects when you need to include topics from sibling projects in the table of contents? For example:ProjectA : Searching for a widget Searching for a note Searching for a reminder Creating a note Updating a note Deleting a note Creating a reminder Updatng a reminder Deleting a reminderProjectB: All about widgetsProjectC: All about doohickeysAs part of the process of creating a widget a number of tasks need to be completed, so the table of contents is structured to cover the relevant tasksProjectA ToC- About notes-- Creating a note-- Deleting a note- About reminders-- Creating a note-- Deleting a noteetcProjectB ToC- Configuring a widget-- Creating a widget-- Creating a note-- Creating a reminder- Updating a widget etcProjectC ToC- Configuring a doohickey-- Creating a doohickey-- Creating a note-- Creating a reminderetcHow do you go about adding the note and reminder pages into the table of contents for ProjectB and ProjectC? Or do you advise av
I'm attempting to play a browser game on my PC and it's telling me I don't have the latest version of Flash Player, so I trouble shooted and I do have the latest version but it's telling me its disabled. Hello,I have a master project and right now linking to two child projects. I published the child projects to the correct file in the master project's SSL location. When I generate the output of the master file, the TOC from the master project is fine, but no information from the child projects. I've searched the forums and other's website for answers and haven't been able to correct my problem. Thanks,MDawn
Hello,Is there a way to search for drop down hotspots? When I started my project, I used drop down hotspots and realized this configuration wasn't going to work well. I converted most of them, but would like to search the entire project to ensure I found and converted all hotspots. Thanks,MDawn
Hi,I am working on a Chinese language help file. I have an issue while generating chm output, using the Robohelp source files. I am using Robohelp 9.If a file name is in Chinese font, in the chm output the content of the htm file is not displayed. Output is as follows: This program cannot display the webpage But if I change the file name to English, the content(Chinese) is displayed in hte chm file, as in the source htm files. Please let me know, how to solve this issue. Thanks in advance. NOTE: I used the same source files and generated a Web Help output, which has come out well.
Hi there,I was curious if it's possible to edit the ToC style directly and have the changes persist after republishing?I see TocWriteClassStyle in whthost.js and if I edit it, the changes are visible in the ToC. However if I then generate the project again, whthost.js is recreated blowing away any edits.I am curious if there is a way to edit the source for whthost.js so that when a new whthost is rendered, it is rendered with the edits? Alternately, if this is not possible, is it possible to have the ToC include an additional custom style sheet?Ultimately what I'm trying to do is have more icons available within the ToC than just the 3 currently available. Book, Open Book, Page so that we can use custom icons that are associated with the topics, as well as flag icons for translated help files. I have all the control I could want within the topics, but the skin itself seems to be a bit too locked down.Thank you for taking the time to read, and for any possible leads you may have for me.
Hey all, got an interesting case here. Apologies for long read. I worked with a web developer here at my company to create a nice little script for a Feedback tab that appears on each topic. Click it, opens up to Was this Helpful > Yes or No. User clicks, and the server emails me the results. Works great both front and back end. However, there is some funny behavior on the project side. The portion of code is below (these are the last three lines; I bolded the line in question)<script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.2.4/jquery.min.js"></script> <script src="../guidefeedback/feedback.js?v1.0" type="text/javascript"></script> <link href="../guidefeedback/feedback.css?v1.0" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">When I drop the entire code into the footer of the Master Page (in HTML mode of course), RoboHelp accepts it, recognizes the scripts, etc., but it automatically moves the bold line up to the header, directly below the line
I use Windows 7. I recently upgraded to Robohelp 2015. Since I installed RoboHelp 2015, it is now saying JavaHelp 2.0 or later is required to view the Javahelp output. I always run into this problem when anything changes in my system or RoboHelp. Then the problem becomes that RoboHelp does not seem to work with Java 8, but rather wants Java 7, which always creates problems.Does anyone know if RoboHelp 2015 works with Java 8 (whereas the older versions of RoboHelp did not work with Java 8)? I know very few people create JavaHelp output but my customer still needs it.Thanks,Diane
