Hi -- I'm using RH 7 HTML to generate Webhelp. Can I insert a (TM) symbol into a variable? I tried two ways:Via the User Defined Variables podVia the rhvariable.apj file (tried inserting <symbol name=Trademark><robohelp>&#8482;</robohelp>)Neither worked. The symbol needs to go between words in the variable like this: Robo(TM) Help. I suppose I could make each word a variable, and insert variable-symbol-variable, but I'm hoping for a better solution.Any ideas? THANKS.Noel
I am converting 11 HTM files into a Responsive HTML5 help file. These HTML files were generated during a translation from English to Italian using a Word source.Rather than traditional anchor tags (<a name="">, this document identifies named headers using the id tag, such as <H1 id=my_target>My targets</h1>Robohelp does not appear to recognize these as bookmarks for the auto-create TOC. As the files are in Italian (and I don't speak Italian), and there are thousands of topics, I need to use the auto-create feature.Does anyone know how to get configure Robohelp to recognize these ids as bookmarks for the purposes of auto-creating the TOC?Note that the internal hyperlinks to these locations do work properly.I'm using Robohelp 2015 on Windows 7.Thanks in advance! --Amy
I'm using Robohelp 10. I have generated .chm files to the same network folder for over a year without problems. Sometime around late March, this process did not work anymore. When .chm files where generated to the local folder, they either opened as blank, with the side pane visible and the main content page blank, or with an error message: Cannot open the file mk:@MSIT Store:\\example\example As a workaround, I have been generating .chm files to a local folder. The .chm files generate normally to the local folder and can be opened with no issues. When I copy and paste the files generated in the local folder to the shared network folder, they will also open correctly from the shared network folder. My guess is that something is happening when Robohelp generates to the shared network folder that is actually corrupting the .chm file.I tried created a dummy folder in the same enclosing folder as the shared network folder that lacks any symbols/numbers:
Hi,I had a Frame document, converted it to RoboHelp (Webhelp) and converted that to Word to PDF.Some, not all, of the images in the PDF are blurry. Those same images are very clear in the Frame, .html and Word docs. This tells me something's screwy with the PDF (right?)I've played with the PDF settings in Word and couldn't find a good enough fix. The best I came up with is changing the quality to "high quality print" and that seemed to help only some images but tripled my file size, which isn't a good thing. I'm really at a loss here. Am I stuck with a large file size? Also, when I create a PDF of a single page - the images on that page are perfect. It's only when I create a PDF from the whole file that quality degrades.During the RH conversion from Frame - images were re-saved and re-numbered because they were originally copied into FrameMaker, not referenced. I might have to dig up the original image files and see if replacing them in RH and
I've successfully implemented "twisties" per Peter Grainge's website - Scripts for Twisties, Show All / Hide All and Print Buttons. Works great - no issues. I am using the single button method.I've now moved on to building Master Pages for my project. I added a mini-TOC at the top of the master page. In the Twisties RH project from Peter's site, there isn't a master page defined. My issue is that I don't want the mini-TOC on the master page be expanded when I click "Expand All" which is in the non-master page part of the topic. I don't want expanding all to include the mini-TOC that I have on the master page. What line in the twisties JavaScript file could I change to make the master page mini-TOC be excluded?prhmusic at hotmail dot com, if you know...Paul Hanson
Hello All,I am trying to generate Printed documentation output in word and PDF. The output is generated, but it includes so many formatting issues. I don't know how to create documentation output without any further work needed. Could you please help me in doing this?Thank you in advanceSahitya
Hi all,I have a customer requirement wherein I need to show the table grids in the CHM output. Not only the outer border but also the internal cell lines. Whenever I am trying to edit the table from Table>Format>Properties, in the Table Borders options the "All" option seems disabled. My help project has multiple table and it will not be possible to format each table manually. Can any one of you suggest how do I make the grid lines visible in the output (we are using "Web help to Chm Converter" script to produce the output) by editing the cascading style sheet or editing the styles so that the modified style is applied to all the tables in the project.I have access to both RoboHelp 10 and 2015. Thanks in advance.
Hi, We are integrating Responsive HTML 5 output with our application. Could you please let me know which Javascript function should we use for calling a particular content page (using mapid or map number) for Responsive HTML 5. For example, in webhelp, we are using RH_ShowHelp(0, "roboHelp/index.htm", 0, 10). I am using RoboHelp 2015.Regards,Prashant
Hi,Has anyone downloaded the trial version of RoboHelp 2015? The descriptions of the new features intrigue me, particularly new HTML5 layouts and enhanced search results.I currently have RoboHelp 10 installed. I tweaked the mobile.css file to use colors that I want in the output files on iPhones and iPads, but the output still looks dated. I was wondering if the default multiscreen html5 layout in RoboHelp 2015 is a lot better or if I'd still need to make a lot of tweaks to the mobile.css files. Are there any other new features in 2015 that have vastly improved your experience or output? Thanks!Donna
I have just opened an existing RH7 project to find spell check wiggly red lines everywhere as though I have nothing in my dictionary. What can have happened? And is there a way to get it back? I don't want to have to add all my terms to it again.Any ideas? I haven't moved or changed anything and it's all on my local machine.
I migrated my project to Robohelp 2015 from version 9, In PDF generated files Images are truncating , Please help ?
I was hoping someone could explain to me the logic around images in roboHelp.I have a large number of images in my Online Help, the last time I needed to publish I found that a large volume of images were incorrect, they were in the wrong spot. The images were not the right ones.I found that there was a large amount of duplicate images in the roboHelp Project files, after some testing I found that:Copying and pasting an image directly into roboHelp creates 1 file in the root directory image1.gif, image2.gif etcUploading images (from a Word document) creates a folder where the images for that document (topic are stored). In this instance, a duplicate .png file is created for each imageIf you upload more it just keeps on adding images (with a duplicate)I then created some images, saved them as JPEGs and added them to the Word document, I then uploaded thoseNow I am seriously confused and there are now 2 x image002 files one JPEG one PNG that are different images. No wonder its gettin

I was wondering if anyone else has had problems using relative links in PDFs in the RH 2015 version, using Responsive HTML5. It seems that links in the PDFs going to web pages is not an issue; hyperlinks between one PDF and another is problematic. Not sure what specific information is needed other than these facts. Please share any possible solutions.Regards,Sharon
First of all, I am so pleased that Adobe has issued the fix for the RoboHelp 8 "early November" bug! (If Adobe were in Minnesota, all the bugs are generally dead by November ) I have loaded the new 8.0.2 service release and am carefully following Peter's instructions under "Opening RoboHelp Projects" - "Service Release 8.0.2." I have a few questions at this point, mainly about Unused Files. (By the way, my RH project is working great.)I have run the "Unused Files" report in my large online help project (i.e., a project that's been around many years, which we update twice a year, so we do a lot of adding, replacing, and deleting of images and topics). There was quite a list of files in this report. When I spot-checked several of the files, it seems that they were, in fact, obsolete, and therefore, are correctly appearing in the Unused Files Report.1. Is it a good idea to delete the files listed in the Unused Files Report? (I must confess that I've been working o
I published a project in RoboHelp 2015 to a server for our iPads/iPhones. I have a fairly lengthy index. When viewing, I cannot scroll down the index list to view all topics available. It works only after I do a search within the Index. After searching, I am able to go back to the index tab and scroll down the list. Any suggestions?
Does anyone happen to know if I can customise the Azure Blue template (for responsive html) by adding in my own header (banner)? I only see where I can change the background colour on the header and insert our logo.Thank you,Pam
The Webhelp output has a Highlight search results checkbox like this:But the Responsive HTML5 output does not have this option despite highlighting the results:I don't see any way to add this in the Layout Customization window:Is it possible to add a checkbox to disable highlighting? We've recently switched to Responsive HTML5 and we've been asked how to turn the highlighting off.Thanks.
My merged slave .chm file is not showing up in the master .chm file after generation. Anyone seen this happen before?
When I completed the project all the books/chapters/topics appeared. Then I generated it with WebHelp, it complied successfully. When I viewed results all that appeared is the welcome page and toolbar, but the contents (books/chapters/topics) did not appear. This is the first time I have every had it not appear. I use this view to look thru the new topics before transferring it to the server.
Is it possible to add image zoom in and out feature on the WebHelp output of RoboHelp? something like in this page: http://docs.oracle.com/cloud/latest/marketingcs_gs/OMCBD/index.html#Help/Administration/Tasks/AddingUsers.htm%3FTocPath%3DAdministration%7C_____1When users click on an image, the image zooms in to provide a better view. Is it possible to do something like this using RoboHelp 8? If yes, please explain the steps. Thanks in advance.
HI On my Chrome AND Firefox browsers for Windows 10 (flash player 21,0,0,216 installed on Chrome) each time i watch a particular video, the buffer or loading gets to about half way through before it skips to the end and subsequently the video only plays half way. I have tried - Cleared my web browsers cache and history - Removed all websites in to flash player storage settings panel - Restarted my computer/ browser/ modem, - Uninstalling and reinstalling flash- Tried to increase the global storage settings (will not save)- Contacted the website of the video and they confirmed there is no issues on there end and to rub salt on the wound sent a print screen of the video past 50% - The website even gave me another log in to try however it still didn't workI would appreciated anyone's help, thanks in advance and good luck.
We include an email link in our product's Webhelp to allow our users to send us feedback on specific topics (none received so far but I live in hope that someone, somewhere, reads the help...).A customer has asked if it's possible to include an email link in the help topics that will send an email to that customer's sys admin. Clearly, a search and replace on all the htm files would do the trick, e.g. to replace my company's doc feedback email address with the customer's email on the Send Feedback link. But is there a more elegant way of doing this? The email address used in the link could be specified when the product help is installed. The installer would go through all the htm files and make the replacement. The email address could be specified in a separate file and included somehow in all the htm files, so only one file would need to be changed by the installer.Anyone solved this already? Is the 2nd option above even possible?cheers, Julie
Hi all,Shown below is a screen shot of the help for a project of mine. As you can see, it looks like there is an extra blank row between the row containing the toolbar buttons and the TOC. If I click on one of the toolbar buttons the button appears to be as tall as the 2 rows (I have the Contents button selected in the screen shot.) I don't see a way in the skin editor to change this. Any thoughts on what's wrong or how to fix it? This is webhelp created with RH 11.Thanks in advance for any help.Diane
